1Development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing System for Accelerating Maize Breeding显示文摘Crop breeding aims to generate pure in bred lines with multiple desired traits. Doubled haploid (DH) and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 are two powerful game-changing technologies in crop breeding. However, both of them still fall short for rapid generation of pure elite lines with integrated favorable traits. Here, we report the development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing (IMGE) approach, which utilizes a maize haploid inducer line carrying a CRISPR/Cas9 cassette targeting for a desired agronomic trait to pollinate an elite maize in bred line and to generate genome-edited haploids in the elite maize background. 3Responses of activities, abundances and community structures of soil denitrifiers to short-term mercury stress显示文摘The responses of activities, abundances and community structures of soil denitrifiers to mercury (Hg) stress were investigated through a short-term incubation experiment. Four soil treatments with different concentrations of Hg (CK, Hg25, Hg50, and Hg100, denoted as 0, 25, 50, and 100 mg Hg/kg dry soil, respectively) were incubated for 28 days. Soil denitrification enzyme activity (DEA) was measured at day 3, 7 and 28. The abundances and community structures of two denitrification concerning genes, nirS (cd1-nitrite reductase gene) and nosZ (nitrous oxide reductase gene), were analyzed using real-time PCR and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). Results showed that soil DEA was significantly stimulated in the treatments of Hg25 and Hg50 compared with others at day 7. Meanwhile, no difference in the abundances of soil nirS and nosZ was found between Hg spiked treatments and CK, except the lower abundance of nirS (P < 0.05) in the Hg added treatments compared with that in the CK at day 28. The community structures of denitrifiers based on nirS gene presented obvious change at day 7 along with the Hg additions, however, no variation was found in all treatments based on the nosZ gene. 4FHY3 and FAR1 Integrate Light Signals with the miR156-SPL Module-Mediated Aging Pathway to Regulate Arabidopsis Flowering显示文摘In response to competition for light from their neighbors,shade-intolerant plants flower precociously to ensure reproductive success and survival.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying this key developmental switch are not well understood.Here,we show that a pair of Arabidopsis transcription factors essential for phytochrome A signaling,FAR-RED ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL3(FHY3)and FAR-RED IMPAIRED RESPONSE1(FAR1),regulate flowering time by integrating environmental light signals with the miR156-SPL module-mediated aging pathway.We found that FHY3 and FAR1 directly interact with three flowering-promoting SQUAMOSA-PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-LIKE(SPL)transcription factors,SPL3,SPL4,and SPL5,and inhibit their binding to the promoters of several key flowering regulatory genes,including FRUITFUL(FUL),LEAFY(LFY),APETALA1(AP1),and MIR172C,thus downregulating their transcript levels and delaying flowering.Under simulated shade conditions,levels of SPL3/4/5 proteins increase,whereas levels of FHY3 and FAR1 proteins decline,thus releasing SPL3/4/5 from FHY3/FAR1 inhibition to allow activation of FUL,LFY,AP1,and MIR172C and,consequently,early flowering.Taken together,these results unravel a novel mechanism whereby plants regulate flowering time by integrating environmental cues(such as light conditions)and an internal developmental program(the miR156-SPL module-mediated aging pathway).Yurong Xie Qin Zhou Yongping Zhao Quanquan Li Yang Liu Mengdi Ma Baobao Wang Rongxin Shen Zhigang Zheng Haiyang Wang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,3:8
55-Hydroxymethylome in Circulating Cell-free DNA as A Potential Biomarker for Non-small-cell Lung Cancer显示文摘Non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC), the most common type of lung cancer accounting for 85% of the cases, is often diagnosed at advanced stages owing to the lack of efficient early diagnostic tools. 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine(5 hmC) signatures in circulating cell-free DNA(cfDNA) that carries the cancer-specific epigenetic patterns may represent the valuable biomarkers for discriminating tumor and healthy individuals, and thus could be potentially useful for NSCLC diagnosis. Here,we employed a sensitive and reliable method to map genome-wide 5 hmC in the cfDNA of Chinese NSCLC patients and detected a significant 5 hmC gain in both the gene bodies and promoter regions in the blood samples from tumor patients compared with healthy controls. Specifically, we identified six potential biomarkers from 66 patients and 67 healthy controls(mean decrease accuracy>3.2, P < 3.68E-19) using machine-learning-based tumor classifiers with high accuracy. 7Analytic estimation and numerical modeling of actively cooled thermal protection systems with nickel alloys显示文摘Actively cooled thermal protection system has great influence on the engine of a hypersonic vehicle, and it is significant to obtain the thermal and stress distribution in the system. So an analytic estimation and numerical modeling are performed in this paper to investigate the behavior of an actively cooled thermal protection system. The analytic estimation is based on the electric analogy method and finite element analysis(FEA) is applied to the numerical simulation. Temperature and stress distributions are obtained for the actively cooled channel walls with three kinds of nickel alloys with or with no thermal barrier coating(TBC). The temperature of the channel wall with coating has no obvious difference from the one with no coating, but the stress with coating on the channel wall is much smaller than that with no coating. Inconel X-750 has the best characteristics among the three Ni-based materials due to its higher thermal conductivity, lower elasticity module and greater allowable stress. 10Rice(Oryza sativa L.)seedlings enriched with zinc or manganese:Their impacts on cadmium accumulation and expression of related genes显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)contamination in paddy soils means that the rice produced there may be unsafe for human consumption.A hydroponic study was conducted to enrich rice seedlings with zinc(Zn)or manganese(Mn),and the uptake and transport characteristics of Cd in these Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings were subsequently investigated using a greenhouse pot trial.The results showed that hydroponic cultivation in 10-50μmol L^(-1) Zn(ZnSO_(4)·7 H_(2)O)or50-250μmol L^(-1) Mn(MnSO_(4)·H_(2)O)for 30 d had no significant impact on rice growth,while the accumulation of Zn and Mn was 7.31-18.5 and 25.4-47.7 times higher,respectively,than in the control(no Zn or Mn addition).The accumulation of Cd in the Zn-and Mn-rich rice plants was 26.3%-38.6% and 34.4%-44.5% lower than that in the control,respectively,and the translocation factors of Cd from roots to shoots also decreased by 23.3%-41.3% and 25.3%-37.0%,respectively,after transplanting to Cd-contaminated soils.Furthermore,the relative expression levels of OsIRT1(Oryza sativa iron-regulated transporter 1)were downregulated by 40.1%-59.3% and 16.0%-25.9%,respectively,in the Zn-and Mn-rich seedling roots.This downregulation may indicate a possible mechanism contributing to the reductions in Cd absorption.Field experiments confirmed that the Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings produced brown rice(unpolished rice grains)with significantly decreased concentrations of Cd(34.2%-44.4%).This study provides an innovative method for reducing the food safety risks from rice grown on slightly to moderately Cd-contaminated paddy soils.Gaoxiang HUANG Changfeng DING Yibing MA Yurong WANG Zhigao ZHOU Shun'an ZHENG Xingxiang WANG 2021Pedosphere2021,31,6:2

14Detection of free surface composition and molecular-level structural development of styrene(S)/butadiene(B) block copolymer films during a solution-to-film process显示文摘The surface chemical structure development in solution-cast styrene(S)/butadiene(B) block copolymer films as a function of solvent evaporation time was investigated using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy(SFG).The surface structure formation of the styrene(S)/butadien(B) block copolymer(30 wt% PS) films during the solution-to-film process was found to be controlled mainly by dynamic factors,such as the mobility of the PB block in solution.For SB diblock copolymers,a pure PB surface layer was formed only when the film was cast by dilute toluene solution.With increasing concentration of casting solution,PB and PS components were found to coexist on the film surface,and the morphology of the PB component on the film surface changed from cylindrical rods to spheres.For SBS triblock copolymers,a small amount of PS component existed on the surface even if the film was cast by 1.0 wt% toluene solution.In addition,PS components at the outermost layer of the film increased and the length of PB cylindrical rods on the surface decreased with increasing concentration of casting solution.YAN ZhuoHua ZHANG RongPing ZHAO YuRong ZUO Biao ZHENG FanFan CHEN TianYu WANG XinPing SHEN ZhiQuan 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,7:1

17China’s Recent Progresses in Polar Climate Change and Its Interactions with the Global Climate System显示文摘During the recent four decades since 1980,a series of modern climate satellites were launched,allowing for the measurement and record-keeping of multiple climate parameters,especially over the polar regions where traditional observations are difficult to obtain.China has been actively engaging in polar expeditions.Many observations were conducted during this period,accompanied by improved Earth climate models,leading to a series of insightful understandings concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate changes.Here,we review the recent progress China has made concerning Arctic and Antarctic climate change research over the past decade.The Arctic temperature increase is much higher than the global-mean warming rate,associated with a rapid decline in sea ice,a phenomenon called the Arctic Amplification.The Antarctic climate changes showed a zonally asymmetric pattern over the past four decades,with most of the fastest changes occurring over West Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula.The Arctic and Antarctic climate changes were driven by anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions and ozone loss,while tropical-polar teleconnections play important roles in driving the regional climate changes and extreme events over the polar regions.Polar climate changes may also feedback to the entire Earth climate system.The adjustment of the circulation in both the troposphere and the stratosphere contributed to the interactions between the polar climate changes and lower latitudes.Climate change has also driven rapid Arctic and Southern ocean acidification.Chinese researchers have made a series of advances in understanding these processes,as reviewed in this paper.Xichen LI Xianyao CHEN Bingyi WU Xiao CHENG Minghu DING Ruibo LEI Di QI Qizhen SUN Xiaoyu WANG Wenli ZHONG Lei ZHENG Meijiao XIN Xiaocen SHEN Chentao SONG Yurong HOU 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,8:1
18A quasi-solid-state electrolyte with high ionic conductivity for stable lithium-ion batteries显示文摘The practical applications of solid-state electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)are hindered by their low ionic conductivity and high interfacial resistance.Herein,an ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylate based quasi-solid-state electrolyte(ETPTAQSSE)with a three-dimensional(3D)network is prepared by a one-step in-situ photopolymerization method.The 3D network is designed to overcome the contradiction between the plasticizer-related ionic conductivity and the thickness-dependent mechanical property of quasi-solid-state electrolytes.The ETPTA-QSSE achieves superb room-temperature ionic conductivity up to 4.55×10^(−3)S cm^(−1),a high lithium ion transference number of 0.57,along with a wide electrochemical window of 5.3 V(vs.Li+/Li),which outperforms most ever of the reported solid-state electrolytes.Owing to the robust network structure and the cathodeelectrolyte integrated electrode design,Li metal symmetrical cells show reduced interface resistance and reinforced electrode/electrolyte interface stability.When applying the ETPTA-QSSE in LiFePO_(4)||Li cells,the quasi-solid-state cell demonstrates an enhanced initial discharge capacity(155.5 mAh g^(−1)at 0.2 C)accompanied by a high average Coulombic efficiency of greater than 99.3%,offering capacity retention of 92%after 200 cycles.Accordingly,this work sheds light on the strategy of enhancing ionic conductivity and reducing interfacial resistance of quasi-solid-state electrolytes,which is promising for high-voltage LIBs.ZHANG WenJing LI SenLin ZHANG YuRong WANG XingHui LIU JingDong ZHENG YuanHui 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,10:1
19High-efficient removal of tetracycline in water via porous magnetic Ce/Fe photocomposite under visible light显示文摘Tetracycline is a typical antibiotic commonly used in various industries which is eco-toxic and quickly causes bacterial resistance.Therefo re,studying the efficient removal of tetracycline is necessary to protect the water environment.Herein,a novel Ce/Fe nanoparticle composite(1CCFO)was prepared by the sol-gel method and its removal effects of tetracycline under visible light were performed.The relationship between physicochemical properties of catalyst and photocatalytic degradation effects of tetracycline was analyzed based on a series of characterizations data such as X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectro scopy,a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)method,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)spectroscopy.The results show that Ce/Fe photocatalyst possesses a large specific surface area,good visible light response,abundant oxygen vacancies and excellent redox performance,exhibiting good adsorption capacity,remarkable catalytic performance and stability.The optimal conditions for tetracycline removal were explored through orthogonal experiments.About 88%of tetracycline can be photodegraded in 1 h under optimal conditions.The possible decomposition pathways,main reactive oxygen species and suitable mechanism of the photocatalytic system were studied by liquid chromatography-mass spectro metry(LC-MS),an electron spin resonance(ESR)spectrometer and free radical quenching experiments.The results show that 1CCFO has an efficient degradation effect on tetracycline under visible light,which provides a feasible method to improve the performance of 1CCFO.Weihang Han Jingxuan Shou Yifan Yang Liangchen Chen Luping Zhang Yutong Chen Xuewei Tu Dan Jin Shijie Zhang Yurong Chang Hui Zheng 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,10:0
20Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in benthos of the northern Bering Sea Shelf and Chukchi Sea Shelf显示文摘Eighteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)were detected in benthos collected onboard the‘Snow Dragon’in the Northern Bering Sea Shelf and Chukchi Sea Shelf during the 6 th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 2014).18 PAHs for all biota samples ranged from 34.2 to 128.1 ng/g dry weight(dw),with the highest concentration observed in fish muscle(Boreogadus saida)samples close to St.Lawrence Island.The PAH composition pattern was dominated by the presence of lighter 3 ring(57%)and 2 ring(28%)PAHs,indicating oil-related or petrogenic sources as important origins of PAH contamination.Concentrations of alkyl-PAHs(1-methylnaphthalene and 2-methylnaphthalene)were lower than their parent PAH(naphthalene)in all biological tissue,and their percentage also decreased significantly(p<0.05)compared with those in the corresponding sediment.There were no significant relationships between PAH concentrations and trophic levels,which is possibly due to the combined results of the complex benthic foodweb in the subarctic/Arctic shelf region,as well as a low assimilation/effective metabolism for PAHs.According to toxic potency evaluation results from TCDD toxic equivalents(TEQs)and Ba P-equivalent(Ba PE)values,whelk(Neptunea heros)and starfish(Ctenodiscus crispatus)are two macroinvertebrate species showing relatively higher dioxin-like toxicity and carcinogenic risk.Yuxin Ma Yurong Sun Yunkai Li Hongyuan Zheng Wenying Mi 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11:0
