1A simple way to make pre-stressed ceramics with high strength显示文摘A pre-stressing design and a simple fabrication technology to substantially improve the strength of ceramic components are presented.Residual surface compressive stress is generated in ceramic components by pressureless sintering of a green bulk coated with a thin layer of low coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE).The stress level can be controlled by changing the cross-section area ratio,Young's modulus ratio and CTE ratio of the coating.Pre-stressed ZrO_(2) ceramics coated with Al_(2)O_(3) can achieve a flexural strength of 1330±52MPa,45% higher than their uncoated counterpart.Similarly,the flexural strength of building porcelain tiles is increased by 70%,from 67±3 MPa to 114±5MPa.The damage tolerance of pre-stressed ZrO_(2) ceramics is excellent with a high residual strength of ~1200 MPa in a thermal shock test at 325℃.This simple technique can improve the mechanical performance of ceramic components with no limitation of size and shape.Yiwang Bao Fenghua Kuang Yi Sun Yueming Li Detian Wan Zongyang Shen Delong Ma Lingfeng He 2019Journal of Materiomics2019,5,4:7
2Crystal structures of D-psicose 3-epimerase from Clostridium cellulolyticum H10 and its complex with ketohexose sugars显示文摘D-Psicose 3-epimerase(DPEase)is demonstrated to be useful in the bioproduction of D-psicose,a rare hexose sugar,from D-fructose,found plenty in nature.Clostridium cellulolyticum H10 has recently been identified as a DPEase that can epimerize D-fructose to yield D-psicose with a much higher conversion rate when compared with the conventionally used DTEase.In this study,the crystal structure of the C.cellulolyticum DPEase was determined.The enzyme assembles into a tetramer and each subunit shows a(β/α)8 TIM barrel fold with a Mn2+metal ion in the active site.Additional crystal structures of the enzyme in complex with substrates/products(D-psicose,D-fructose,D-tagatose and D-sorbose)were also determined.From the complex structures of C.cellulolyticum DPEase with D-psicose and D-fructose,the enzyme has much more interactions with D-psicose than D-fructose by forming more hydrogen bonds between the substrate and the active site residues.Accordingly,based on these ketohexosebound complex structures,a C3-O3 proton-exchange mechanism for the conversion between D-psicose and D-fructose is proposed here.These results provide a clear idea for the deprotonation/protonation roles of E150 and E244 in catalysis.Hsiu-Chien Chan Yueming Zhu Yumei Hu Tzu-Ping Ko Chun-Hsiang Huang Feifei Ren Chun-Chi Chen Yanhe Ma Rey-Ting Guo Yuanxia Sun 2012Protein & Cell2012,3,2:6
3Preparation and application of ZnO doped Pt-CeO2 nanofibers as electrocatalyst for methanol electro-oxidation显示文摘ZnO doped Pt/CeO_2 nanocomposites were prepared by electrospinning and reduction impregnation.Xray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy disperse spectroscopy(EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) were employed to characterize the nanocomposites.It is observed that ZnO and CeO_2 form the hexagonal wurtzite phase and cubic fluorite phase in the nanocomposite,respectively,whilst Pt nanoparticles(NPs) with the number-averaged size of ca.3.1 nm are uniformly distributed on the surface of nanofibers.The mass fraction of Pt NPs in the nanocomposites is about 10 wt%.The doping of ZnO is effective to promote reactive oxygen species,surface reaction sites and the interaction between Pt and oxides.The catalytic performance of nanocomposites was evaluated by the methanol electro-oxidation.indexed with the catalytic activity,stability of catalyst.As a result,it is found that the nanocomposite exhibits much higher activity and stability for methanol oxidation than the undoped Pt/CeO_2 catalyst.Yingping Zheng Xin Zhang Zhengying Zhang Ying Li Yueming Sun Yongbing Lou Xiaojun Li Yang Lu 2018Journal of Rare Earths2018,36,9:5
4Effective and biocompatible antibacterial surfaces via facile synthesis and surface modification of peptide polymers显示文摘It is an urgent need to tackle drug-resistance microbial infections that are associated with implantable biomedical devices.Host defense peptide-mimicking polymers have been actively explored in recent years to fight against drug-resistant microbes.Our recent report on lithium hexamethyldisilazide-initiated superfast polymerization on amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides enables the quick synthesis of host defense peptide-mimicking peptide polymers.Here we reported a facile and cost-effective thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)surface modification of peptide polymer(DLL:BLG=90:10)using plasma surface activation and substitution reaction between thiol and bromide groups.The peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces exhibited board-spectrum antibacterial property as well as effective contact-killing ability in vitro.Furthermore,the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces showed excellent biocompatibility,displaying no hemolysis and cytotoxicity.In vivo study using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)for subcutaneous implantation infectious model showed that peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces revealed obvious suppression of infection and great histocompatibility,compared to bare TPU surfaces.We further explored the antimicrobial mechanism of the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces,which revealed a surface contact-killing mechanism by disrupting the bacterial membrane.These results demonstrated great potential of the peptide-modified TPU surfaces for practical application to combat bacterial infections that are associated with implantable materials and devices.Ziyi Lu Yueming Wu Zihao Cong Yuxin Qian Xue Wu Ning Shao Zhongqian Qiao Haodong Zhang Yunrui She Kang Chen Hengxue Xiang Bin Sun Qian Yu Yuan Yuan Haodong Lin Meifang Zhu Runhui Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:5
5Coupling of Hierarchical Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) Nanofibers into 3D Photothermal Aerogels Toward Simultaneous Water Evaporation and Purification显示文摘Serious freshwater shortage and environmental pollution boost the rapid development of solar-driven water production.Although improved evaporation rate has achieved in recent years,undesirable impurity(e.g.,pollutant components)can also be inevitably evaporated and collected as impurity in produced freshwater.This work reports new ultra-light three-dimensional(3D)aerogels assembled by hierarchical Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) nanofibers and reduced graphene oxide(RGO)for excit-ing synchronized solar-driven evaporation and water purification.Hydrophilic Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) fibrous channels linked up the graphene hot-spots and water body for sufficient water supply and bulk water insulation.Meanwhile,featured with thermal insulation effect,the Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) nanofibers effectively locked the converted heat with less energy loss from sunlight.The introducing of Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) nanofibers into RGO aerogel led to the effective interfacial evaporation for a more rapid water evaporation rate(2.19 kg·m−2·h−1,normalized to evaporation area including both top and side surface),which was 36%higher than that of pristine RGO aerogel.Moreover,simultaneous with the strong steam generation,Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) nanofibers in situ removed the pollutants within steam by photodegradation,achieving polluted wastewater purification with high con-taminant removal ratio of 91.3%.Our work on coupling Al_(2)O_(3)/TiO_(2) nanofibers into photothermal aerogel provides attractive solutions for the challenges of clean water scarcity and serious environmental pollution.Xiangyu Meng Wanlin Xu Zhihui Li Jianhui Yang Jingwu Zhao Xixi Zou Yueming Sun Yunqian Dai 2020Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,2:4

7Microstructure and magnetic performance of Ni-substituted high density MnZn ferrite显示文摘The effects of NiO on microstructure and magnetic properties of Mn-Zn ferrite with a nominal composition of Zn0.32Mn0.60-xNixFe2.08O4 were investigated. The calcined powder of Mn-Zn ferrite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), the fracture surface of Mn-Zn ferrite was checked by scanning electronic microscope (SEM), and then the magnetic properties were measured. 8Effect of sintering process on microstructure and magnetic properties of high frequency power ferrite显示文摘An oxide ceramic process was adopted to prepare high frequency manganese-zinc (MnZn) power ferrite. In combination with the microstructure analysis of material, the influences of sintering process on initial permeability (μi) and high frequency loss in unit volume (Pcv) of MnZn power ferrite were investigated. 9Shikonin alleviates collagen-induced arthritis mice by inhibiting M1 macrophage polarization显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of shikonin(SKN) on M1 and M2 polarization of macrophages both in vitro and in vivo. METHODS: Collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) in male DBA/1 mice were treated with a dose of 4 mg/kg/day of SKN for 23 d(n = 6/group). The histopathology of inflamed joints in CIA mice was evaluated to test the antiarthritic effect of SKN. M1/M2 polarization of macrophages induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and interferon(IFN)-γ or interleukin(IL)-4 and IL-13, were used to assess the effect of SKN(0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 μM). The effect of SKN on the protein expression of nitric oxide synthase, arginase, CD68, and CD206 was evaluated using western blot analysis. RESULTS: The results of this study revealed that SKN delayed the arthritis feet symptom score, reduced the incidence rate of arthritis, and relieved the inflammation of joints in CIA mice. SKN inhibited M1 macrophage polarization but did not affect M2 macrophage polarization in the joints of CIA mice. Moreover, SKN inhibited M1 polarization induced by LPS and IFN-γ, but did not affect M2 polarization induced by IL-4 and IL-13.
