| 7 | Hydrochemical Characteristics and the Suitability of Groundwater in the Coastal Region of Tangshan, China显示文摘Through collecting groundwater samples from the coastal region of Tangshan, China, the hydrochemical processes that affect the chemical composition of groundwater and the quality of resources were analyzed. Chemical constituents, factor analysis, and a graphic method were employed in this research. The results show that human activities obviously affect fresh groundwater. The deep groundwater distributed in the southern part of the region is severely affected by salinization, and the shallow groundwater in the north is also beginning to show the same deterioration. The chemical concentrations of the deep groundwater depend largely upon the water-rock interaction, the mixing of saline water and the ion exchange processes. With the exception of sample C-33, all the groundwater samples in the study area are suitable for drinking. Tests show that roughly half of the deep groundwater samples have at least one water quality index indicating that it is chemically doubtful or unsuitable for irrigation. Therefore, it is concluded that deep groundwater is becoming an unacceptable resource to irrigate areas located near the coastline because the groundwater quality in the study area is exhibiting signs of degradation. However, the biological performance of the 3 D-P titanium surface has not been investigated systematically. Herein, we analyzed the surface characteristics of 3 D-P Ti6 Al4 V implants and evaluated the biological responses of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs) to the 3 D-P surface in vitro. Moreover, after implantation into the rat femoral condyle for3 and 6 weeks, the osseointegration performance was evaluated. The results showed the 3 D-P Ti6 Al4 V implant presented distinct fluctuant macroscale rough surface and relatively better hydrophilicity which enhanced the adhesion, proliferation, osteogenic differentiation and angiogenetic factor expression of BMSCs. Moreover, the in vivo osseointegration performance was also better than that of the control group at the early stage. | 12 | A revised species population estimate for the Bar-headed Goose(Anser indicus)显示文摘Background: The Bar-headed Goose(Anser indicus) is a species that relies heavily on the plateau wetlands of Asia and whose population was thought to be declining. Over the past decade, south-central Tibet, one of the most important wintering grounds, supported large numbers of Bar-headed Geese, but the population had not been regularly monitored in this area.Methods: We surveyed wintering Bar-headed Geese along the Yarlung Zangbo, Lhasa and Nyang Qu rivers, the three major river valleys and their tributaries in south-central Tibet in January 2014 and recorded their location, flock size and habitat utilization. Based on these data and the latest wintering counts elsewhere, we revised the population estimate for this species.Results: We recorded more than 67,000 Bar-headed Geese in south-central Tibet during January 2014. By geographic area, the geese were most abundant in the Lhasa River valley(38.5%) and the Nyang Qu River valley(31.0%), and by administrative division in Lhunzhub(27.2%) and Shigatse(26.7%). Bar-headed Geese were most often observed feeding in winter wheat fields and ploughed fields, resting on pastureland and marshes. The approximate number of 67,000 geese recorded in Tibet is more than four times the estimate of 1993 for the same region and exceeds the most recent world population estimate of 52,000–60,000. Based on our work in Tibet and the latest wintering counts available from other areas, we revised the estimated population size of this species to 97,000–118,000.Conclusions: Our result reveals a remarkable increase in the number of Bar-headed Geese wintering in south-central Tibet. This population increase most likely stems from a proliferation of cropland and especially winter wheat fields in south-central Tibet. | 13 | Chromosome doubling of Sedum alfredii Hance: A novel approach for improving phytoremediation efficiency显示文摘Sedum alfredii Hance is a cadmium(Cd)/zinc(Zn)hyperaccumulator native to China.However,its relatively low biomass restricted the large-scale application for heavy metal contamination remediation.The chromosome set doubling of S.alfredii in vitro was achieved by 0.1%–0.2%(W/V)colchicine treatment.The plant DNA ploidy was analyzed by flow cytometry and chromosome set doubling plants(CSD)were identified based on the obvious different sharp peak.A tissue culture experiment with different Cd treated levels and a field trial with natural polluted mined soil were conducted to study the effects of chromosome doubling on plant biomass and Cd accumulation in shoots.The results suggested that S.alfredii is a mixoploid.Compared with the wild type plants(WT),CSD exhibited typical'gigas'characteristics in morphology including stem thickness,root hair production,number of leaves and size of stoma guard cell.Fresh weight and dry weight of CSD were increased to 1.62–2.03-fold and 2.26–3.25-fold of WT.And Cd content of CSD showed a17.49%–42.82%increase and 59%increase under tissue culture and field condition,accordingly.In addition,the TF and in BCF of CSD were 2.37-and 1.59-fold of WT,respectively.These results proved that it is feasible to promote phytoextraction efficiency of S.alfredii in Cd contaminated soils through chromosomal engineering,which provides a novel approach for hyperaccumulator application in phytoremediation. | Ying Feng Qiong Wang Qian Meng Yongjun Liu Fengshan Pan Sha Luo Yingjie Wu Luyao Ma Xiaoe Yang | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,12: | 4 |

Therefore,vigorously developing the grape and cherry industries in Shandong Province and carrying out development and innovation are important parts of Shandong Province in responding to the strategy of national new and old kinetic energy conversion. However,currently the germplasm resources preserved in the fruit tree resources banks in China are only 45% of those in the US and 27. 2% of those in the EU. Moreover,the development of fruit trees resources banks in Shandong is relatively backward in China,and there is still no banks related with grape and cherry germplasm resources in Shandong. Therefore,importance can be attached to the agriculture,forestry,and animal husbandry to build germplasm resources banks for grape and cherry industries in Shandong Province. Building the national-level grape and cherry germplasm resources bank in Shandong Province can also promote the utilization of wild and farm germplasm resources in the future; advance the research on the genes related to disease resistance,stress resistance and quality of grapes and cherries; push forward the construction and development of cherry and grape mutants banks. | 18 | Are Acila divaricata and Acila mirabilis One Species or Two Distinct Species? Evidence from COI Mitochondrial DNA显示文摘Acila divaricata(Hinds, 1843) and A. mirabilis(Adams and Reeve, 1850) are common benthic bivalves in China. A number of researchers have proposed that the latter species is a junior synonym of the former species. Because of morphological similarities, it is difficult to distinguish these two species based on visual examination only. For better understanding of their taxonomy, the mitochondrial COI gene fragments of five individuals of A. divaricata from the East China Sea and six individuals of A. mirabilis from the Yellow Sea were sequenced in this study. The phylogenetic relationships of the obtained COI sequences, together with nineteen sequences of three species of the genus Nucula, were analyzed. The pairwise intra- and inter-specific distances for the COI sequences ranged from 0.002 to 0.017 and from 0.128 to 0.134, respectively, and no overlap was found. Phylogenetically, A. divaricata and A. mirabilis form distinct clades and cluster into a sister to all other Nucula species. The results indicated that A. divaricata and A. mirabilis are two distinct species.
