2One-Step, Solvothermal Synthesis of Graphene-CdS and Graphene-ZnS Quantum Dot Nanocomposites and Their Interesting Photovoltaic Properties显示文摘The synthesis of graphene-semiconductor nanocomposites has attracted increasing attention due to their interesting optoelectronic properties.However the synthesis of such nanocomposites,with decorated particles well dispersed on graphene,is still a great challenge.This work reports a facile,one-step,solvothermal method for the synthesis of graphene-CdS and graphene-ZnS quantum dot nanocomposites directly from graphene oxide,with CdS and ZnS very well dispersed on the graphene nanosheets.Photoluminescence measurements showed that the integration of CdS and ZnS with graphene significantly decreases their photoluminescence.Transient photovoltage studies revealed that the graphene-CdS nanocomposite exhibits a very unexpected strong positive photovoltaic response,while separate samples of graphene and CdS quantum dots(QDs)of a similar size do not show any photovoltaic response.Ping Wang Tengfei Jiang Chengzhou Zhu Yueming Zhai Dejun Wang Shaojun Dong 2010Nano Research2010,3,11:8
3Active dry yeast supplementation improves the growth performance,rumen fermentation, and immune response of weaned beef calves显示文摘The objective of this experiment was to investigate the potential benefits of active dry yeast(ADY)on the growth performance,rumen fermentation,nutrient digestibility,and serum parameters of weaned beef calves.Thirty Simmental crossbred male calves(body weight=86.47±4.41 kg and 70±4 d of age)were randomly divided into 2 groups:control(CON)(fed basal ration)and ADY(fed basal ration and 5 g/d ADY per calf).The dietary concentrate-to-roughage ratio was 35:65.All the calves were regularly provided rations 3 times a day at 07:00,13:00,and 19:00 and had free access to wate r.The experiment lasted for 60 d.The average daily gain of ADY group was higher(P=0.007)than that of the CON group,and the ratio of feed intake to average daily gain in the ADY group was reduced(P=0.022)as compared to the CON group.The concentration of ruminal ammonia-N was higher(P=0.023)in the CON group than that in the ADY group,but an opposite trend of microbial protein was found between the 2 groups.Also,the ruminal concentrations of propionate and butyrate were higher(P<0.05)in the ADY group than those in the CON group.Calves fed ADY exhibited higher(P<0.05)crude protein and neutral detergent fiber digestibility.Supplementation of ADY increased(P<0.05)the contents of glucose,glutathione peroxidase,superoxide dismutase,immunoglobulin A,immunoglobulin M,and interleukin 10 in the serum of calves,but an opposite trend was observed in malondialdehyde,interleukin 1 beta,and tumor necrosis factor alpha contents between the 2 groups.In conclusion,dietary supplementation with ADY could improve the growth performance,rumen fermentation,nutrient digestibility,antioxidant ability,and immune response of weaned beef calves.Jian Ma Cheng Wang Zhisheng Wang Guang Cao Rui Hu Xueying Wang Huawei Zou Kun Kang Quanhui Peng Bai Xue Lizhi Wang Yueming Zhu Xiaopeng Zhu 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:7
4Transcriptome analysis reveals key differentially expressed genes involved in wheat grain development显示文摘Wheat seed development is an important physiological process of seed maturation and directly affects wheat yield and quality. In this study, we performed dynamic transcriptome microarray analysis of an elite Chinese bread wheat cultivar(Jimai 20) during grain development using the Gene Chip Wheat Genome Array. Grain morphology and scanning electron microscope observations showed that the period of 11–15 days post-anthesis(DPA) was a key stage for the synthesis and accumulation of seed starch. Genome-wide transcriptional profiling and significance analysis of microarrays revealed that the period from 11 to 15 DPA was more important than the 15–20 DPA stage for the synthesis and accumulation of nutritive reserves.Series test of cluster analysis of differential genes revealed five statistically significant gene expression profiles. Gene ontology annotation and enrichment analysis gave further information about differentially expressed genes, and Map Man analysis revealed expression changes within functional groups during seed development. Metabolic pathway network analysis showed that major and minor metabolic pathways regulate one another to ensure regular seed development and nutritive reserve accumulation. We performed gene co-expression network analysis to identify genes that play vital roles in seed development and identified several key genes involved in important metabolic pathways. The transcriptional expression of eight key genes involved in starch and protein synthesis and stress defense was further validated by q RT-PCR. 5Crystal structures of D-psicose 3-epimerase from Clostridium cellulolyticum H10 and its complex with ketohexose sugars显示文摘D-Psicose 3-epimerase(DPEase)is demonstrated to be useful in the bioproduction of D-psicose,a rare hexose sugar,from D-fructose,found plenty in nature.Clostridium cellulolyticum H10 has recently been identified as a DPEase that can epimerize D-fructose to yield D-psicose with a much higher conversion rate when compared with the conventionally used DTEase.In this study,the crystal structure of the C.cellulolyticum DPEase was determined.The enzyme assembles into a tetramer and each subunit shows a(β/α)8 TIM barrel fold with a Mn2+metal ion in the active site.Additional crystal structures of the enzyme in complex with substrates/products(D-psicose,D-fructose,D-tagatose and D-sorbose)were also determined.From the complex structures of C.cellulolyticum DPEase with D-psicose and D-fructose,the enzyme has much more interactions with D-psicose than D-fructose by forming more hydrogen bonds between the substrate and the active site residues.Accordingly,based on these ketohexosebound complex structures,a C3-O3 proton-exchange mechanism for the conversion between D-psicose and D-fructose is proposed here.These results provide a clear idea for the deprotonation/protonation roles of E150 and E244 in catalysis.Hsiu-Chien Chan Yueming Zhu Yumei Hu Tzu-Ping Ko Chun-Hsiang Huang Feifei Ren Chun-Chi Chen Yanhe Ma Rey-Ting Guo Yuanxia Sun 2012Protein & Cell2012,3,2:6
6Effective and biocompatible antibacterial surfaces via facile synthesis and surface modification of peptide polymers显示文摘It is an urgent need to tackle drug-resistance microbial infections that are associated with implantable biomedical devices.Host defense peptide-mimicking polymers have been actively explored in recent years to fight against drug-resistant microbes.Our recent report on lithium hexamethyldisilazide-initiated superfast polymerization on amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides enables the quick synthesis of host defense peptide-mimicking peptide polymers.Here we reported a facile and cost-effective thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)surface modification of peptide polymer(DLL:BLG=90:10)using plasma surface activation and substitution reaction between thiol and bromide groups.The peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces exhibited board-spectrum antibacterial property as well as effective contact-killing ability in vitro.Furthermore,the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces showed excellent biocompatibility,displaying no hemolysis and cytotoxicity.In vivo study using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)for subcutaneous implantation infectious model showed that peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces revealed obvious suppression of infection and great histocompatibility,compared to bare TPU surfaces.We further explored the antimicrobial mechanism of the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces,which revealed a surface contact-killing mechanism by disrupting the bacterial membrane.These results demonstrated great potential of the peptide-modified TPU surfaces for practical application to combat bacterial infections that are associated with implantable materials and devices.Ziyi Lu Yueming Wu Zihao Cong Yuxin Qian Xue Wu Ning Shao Zhongqian Qiao Haodong Zhang Yunrui She Kang Chen Hengxue Xiang Bin Sun Qian Yu Yuan Yuan Haodong Lin Meifang Zhu Runhui Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:5

9Effects of water deficit and high N fertilization on wheat storage protein synthesis,gluten secondary structure,and breadmaking quality显示文摘The content and composition of wheat storage proteins are the major determinants of dough rheological properties and breadmaking quality and are influenced by cultivation conditions.This study aimed to investigate the effects of water deficit and high N-fertilizer application on wheat storage protein synthesis,gluten secondary structure,and breadmaking quality.Reverse-phase ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography analysis showed that storage protein and gluten macropolymer accumulation was promoted under both independent applications and a combination of water-deficit and high N-fertilizer treatments.Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy showed that water deficit and high N-fertilizer treatments generally improved protein secondary structure formation and lipid accumulation,and reduced flour moisture.In particular,high N-fertilizer application increasedβ-sheet content by 10.4%and the combination of water-deficit and high N-fertilizer treatments increased random coil content by 7.6%.These changes in gluten content and secondary structure led to improved dough rheological properties and breadmaking quality,including superior loaf internal structure,volume,and score.Our results demonstrate that moderately high N-fertilizer application under drought conditions can improve gluten accumulation,gluten secondary structure formation,and baking quality.Junxian Liu Junwei Zhang Gengrui Zhu Dong Zhu Yueming Yan 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,1:2
10Effect of high-nitrogen fertilizer on gliadin and glutenin subproteomes during kernel development in wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)显示文摘Nitrogen(N),a macronutrient essential for plant growth and development,is needed for biosynthesis of protein and starch,which affect grain yield and quality.Application of high-N fertilizer increases plant growth,grain yield,and flour quality.In this study,we performed the first comparative analysis of gliadin and glutenin subproteomes during kernel development in the elite Chinese wheat cultivar Zhongmai 175 under high-N conditions by reversed-phase ultra-performance liquid chromatography and twodimensional difference gel electrophoresis(2D-DIGE).Application of high-N fertilizer led to significant increases in gluten macropolymer content,total gliadin and glutenin content,and the accumulation of individual storage protein components.Of 126 differentially accumulated proteins(DAPs)induced by high-N conditions,24 gliadins,12 high-molecularweight glutenins,and 27 low-molecular-weight glutenins were significantly upregulated.DAPs during five kernel developmental stages displayed multiple patterns of accumulation.In particular,gliadins and glutenins showed respectively five and six accumulation patterns.The accumulation of storage proteins under high-N conditions may lead to improved dough properties and bread quality.Shoumin Zhen Xiong Deng Xuexin Xu Nannan Liu Dong Zhu Zhimin Wang Yueming Yan 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,1:2
11Numerical Simulation of Water-Air Two-Phase Flow in Soil Slope under Water Level Rise Condition显示文摘In order to simulate the unsteady seepage in soil slopes under water level rise condition, including water seepage and air seepage, and to investigate the influence of the capillary pressure on the slope safety coefficient, the water-air two-phase flow model was used and its solving method and definition condition were given. By the two-phase flow model, the pore air and pore water seepage of a soil slope under steady seepage and water level rise conditions were shown, and the slope stability in different cases was analyzed from the simulation results. 15Effects of phytonutrients on growth performance, antioxidative status,and energy utilization of broilers fed low energy diets显示文摘Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of phytonutrients(PN)on growth performance.antioxidant status,intestinal morphology,and nutrient utilization of birds fed low energy diets.In Exp.1.a total of 1.440 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups,with 16 replicates per treatment(48 pens;30 birds per pen).Birds in treatment 1 were fed diets with normal energy content(NE).Birds in treatment 2 were fed NE diet but with 60 kcal removed(LE).Birds in treatment 3 were assigned to LE diet supplemented with PN(LE + PN).Results indicated that LE diet increased feed conversion ratio(FCR)compared with NE from d 1 to 38.while LE + PN diet prevented this response(P= 0.02).At d 26.birds in the LE + PN group had the highest ileal and jejunal villus height to crypt depth(VH:CD)ratio.At d 39.PN supplementation improved ileal and jejunal VH:CD ratio,compared with LE group.Moreover,birds fed PN diets received a better economic profit,In Exp.2,360 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were used in a metabolism study.The treatments used in Exp.2 were the same as those in Exp.1,with 4 replicates(pens)and 30 birds in each replicate.Dietary apparent metabolism energy(AME),energy and protein digestibility were determined between 21 and 28 d of age.Results showed that chickens fed LE + PN diet tended to have greater AME(P= 0.02)and nictrogen-corrected apparent metabolism energy(AMEn)(P= 0.03)than birds fed LE diets.It was concluded that LE+ PN showed a potential advantage to improve feed conversion and gut health of broilers,as well as economic profits.Lei Yan Sha An Zunzhou Lv Zhengguo Wang Yueming Wu Yutao Zhu Min Zhao Chunhua Sun Mingbin Lv Zhengpeng Zhu Yuming Guo 2019Animal Nutrition2019,,3:1
16Network simulation task partition method in heterogeneous computing environment显示文摘To reduce the running time of network simulation in heterogeneous computing environment,a network simulation task partition method,named LBPHCE,is put forward.In this method,the network simulation task is partitioned in comprehensive consideration of the load balance of both routing computing simulation and packet forwarding simulation.First,through benchmark experiments,the computation ability and routing simulation ability of each simulation machine are measured in the heterogeneous computing environment.Second,based on the computation ability of each simulation machine,the network simulation task is initially partitioned to meet the load balance of packet forwarding simulation in the heterogeneous computing environment,and then according to the routing computation ability,the scale of each partition is fine-tuned to satisfy the balance of the routing computing simulation,meanwhile the load balance of packet forwarding simulation is guaranteed.Experiments based on PDNS indicate that,compared to traditional uniform partition method,the LBPHCE method can reduce the total simulation running time by 26.3%in average,and compared to the liner partition method,it can reduce the running time by 18.3%in average.Xiaofeng Wang Wei Zhu Yueming Dai 2014International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing2014,5,3:1

19Aligning Fe_(2)O_(3)photo-sheets on TiO_(2)nanofibers with hydrophilic and aerophobic surface for boosting photoelectrochemical performance显示文摘Photoelectrochemical(PEC)nanomaterials are critical to producing clean oxygenation or value-added chemical production by utilizing sustainable solar energy,but are always limited by simultaneous integration of architectural engineering and electronic regulation in one structure.Directed by density functional theory(DFT)calculations and finite element analysis(FEA),the bioinspired ivy-like Fe_(2)O_(3)heterostructures with enriched oxygen defects on TiO_(2)nanofibers are designed for boosting PEC performances.Ivy-like Fe_(2)O_(3)photo-sheets remarkably enhanced the light harvesting by multiple light-mater interactions.The oxygen vacancies on Fe_(2)O_(3)photo-sheets could aid the photons catching and promote the reactivity at active sites.More importantly,demonstrated by a well-designed dynamic observation,the abundant tip-edges within ivy-like Fe_(2)O_(3)photo-sheets enabled the surface of heterostructure with hydrophilic and aerophobic properties.The functionalized surface allowed the rapid desorption of produced bubbles and thus ensured a high density of unoccupied active sites for electrolyte accessing.Featured by these attributes,the Fe_(2)O_(3)@TiO_(2)nanofibers delivered an excellent photocurrent of 40.8 mA/mg,high donor density(1.2×10^(18)cm^(−3)),and rapid oxygen production rate(1 mmol/(L∙h)).This work demonstrates a new strategy on nano-structural design for enhancing light-harvesting and making a hydrophilic/aerophobic surface on low-dimensional oxide nanomaterial,holding great potential on designing high-performance PEC devices for producing survival source gas,carbon-neutral fuel,and valuedchemicals.Xiangyu Meng Qi Zhan Yanan Wu Mengmeng Zhu Ken Liu Na Wang Kuibo Yin Yueming Sun Shuai Dong Yunqian Dai 2023Nano Research2023,16,3:0
20Comparison of Rice Yield and Evaluation Methods for Drought Resistance under Drought Stress in the Whole Growth Period and Flowering Period显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve the drought resistance of rice and cultivate new varieties of drought-tolerant rice to effectively alleviate the reduction in rice yield caused by drought.[Methods]Twenty two indica and japonica rice varieties were tested to compare the yield differences under drought stress in the whole growth period and under drought stress in the flowering period.[Results]Drought stress in the whole growth period and flowering period significantly reduced rice yield,as well as the number of filled grains per plant,the number of filled grains per panicle and grain weight per plant.To evaluate the drought tolerance of rice varieties,relative yield could be used as the index under both drought stresses in the whole growth period and the flowering period.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical reference for drought-tolerant rice breeding and screening.Qian ZHU Wuyun FANG Yiru LI Yueming YI Cunli GONG Jingde WU Shimei WANG 2022Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,3:0
