1The Asian Subtropical Westerly Jet Stream in CRA-40, ERA5, and CFSR Reanalysis Data:Comparative Assessment显示文摘The Asian subtropical westerly jet(AWJ) exerts crucial influences on Eurasian continent weather and climate. This paper analyzes the advantages and limitations of CRA-40, which is China's first generation 40-yr(1979–2018) global atmosphere and land reanalysis product, in describing the characteristics of AWJ, compared with the ECMWF Reanalysis version 5(ERA5) and NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis(CFSR). The results show a close agreement across the three reanalyses on the whole.(1) In terms of climatology, overall differences of 200-h Pa zonal wind across the three reanalyses are within ± 0.5 m s^(-1)(i.e., ± 2%). Large differences with maxima of ± 2 m s^(-1)(±5%) appear over the Iranian Plateau and south of the Tibetan Plateau in the mid–upper troposphere in winter.(2) For seasonal cycle, the position and intensity of the AWJ centers in the three reanalyses are highly consistent, with correlation coefficient over 0.98. But there are some discrepancies in the zonal shift of the western AWJ center during the transition season.(3) On the interannual timescale, intensity of all AWJ centers varies consistently among the three reanalyses, while larger differences appear in their meridional displacement, especially in the eastern AWJ center.(4)For long-term variations, the three reanalyses all present a significant northward movement of the westerly jet axis in winter, and a southward displacement over central Asia(40°–80°E) and a northward migration over East Asia(80°–110°E) in summer. 3Enhanced Performance of a Monolayer MoS_2/WSe_2 Heterojunction as a Photoelectrochemical Cathode显示文摘Transition-metal dichalcogenide(TMD) semiconductors have attracted interest as photoelectrochemical(PEC) electrodes due to their novel band-gap structures,optoelectronic properties, and photocatalytic activities.However, the photo-harvesting efficiency still requires improvement. In this study, A TMD stacked heterojunction structure was adopted to further enhance the performance of the PEC cathode. A P-type WSe_2 and an N-type Mo S_2 monolayer were stacked layer-by-layer to build a ultrathin vertical heterojunction using a micro-fabrication method.In situ measurement was employed to characterize the intrinsic PEC performance on a single-sheet heterostructure.Benefitting from its built-in electric field and type II band alignment, the MoS_2/WSe_2 bilayer heterojunction exhibited exceptional photocatalytic activity and a high incident photo-to-current conversion efficiency(IPCE). Comparing with the monolayer WSe_2 cathode, the PEC current and the IPCE of the bilayer heterojunction increased by a factor of 5.6 and enhanced 50%, respectively. 4Effect of potential HONO sources on peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN)formation in eastern China in winter显示文摘As an important secondary photochemical pollutant,peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN)has been studied over decades,yet its simulations usually underestimate the corresponding observations,especially in polluted areas.Recent observations in north China found unusually high concentrations of PAN during wintertime heavy haze events,but the current model still cannot reproduce the observations,and researchers speculated that nitrous acid(HONO)played a key role in PAN formation.For the first time we systematically assessed the impact of potential HONO sources on PAN formation mechanisms in eastern China using the Weather Research and Forecasting/Chemistry(WRF-Chem)model in February of 2017.The results showed that the potential HONO sources significantly improved the PAN simulations,remarkably accelerated the RO x(sum of hydroxyl,hydroperoxyl,and organic peroxy radicals)cycles,and resulted in 80%–150%enhancements of PAN near the ground in the coastal areas of eastern China and 10%–50%enhancements in the areas around 35–40°N within 3 km during a heavy haze period.The direct precursors of PAN were aldehyde and methylglyoxal,and the primary precursors of PAN were alkenes with C>3,xylenes,propene and toluene.The above results suggest that the potential HONO sources should be considered in regional and global chemical transport models when conducting PAN studies.Jingwei Zhang Yitian Guo Yu Qu Yong Chen Ruipeng Yu Chaoyang Xue Rui Yang Qiang Zhang Xingang Liu Yujing Mu Jing Wang Can Ye Haihan Zhao Qiangqiang Sun Ziwen Wang Junling An 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,8:3
5Synergistic inhibitory effect of wogonin and low-dose paclitaxel on gastric cancer cells and tumor xenografts显示文摘Objective:To investigate the synergistic inhibitory effects of wogonin(WOG)and chemotherapeutic drugs on growth of gastric cancer cells and tumor xenografts.Methods:The IC50 values of WOG,cisplatin(CDDP)and paclitaxel(PTX)in four gastric cancer cell lines were determined by MTS assay.Hoechst staining and the median effect method of Chou-Talalay were used to assess the apoptosis of cells and the interaction of two drugs,respectively.BGC-823-derived xenografts in nude mice were established to investigate the effects of WOG combined with chemotherapeutic drugs in vivo.Results:WOG,CDDP and PTX inhibited the growth of BGC-823,MGC-803,MKN-45 and HGC-27 gastric cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner.WOG combined with CDDP or PTX synergistically inhibited the growth of all gastric cancer cell lines in vitro.In BGC-823,MGC-803,HGC-27 and MKN-45 cell lines,synergisms between WOG and PTX were shown when the fraction affected(Fa)values were<0.45,<0.90,<0.85 and<0.60.While WOG and CDDP had a synergistic inhibitory effect when the Fa values were>0,>0,>0.65 and>0.10.From the results of in vivo experiments using tumor xenografts,WOG and low-dose PTX showed better efficacy than either drug alone.The inhibitory percentages of tumor weight were 61.58%,20.29%,and 22.28%for the combination,WOG-alone,and low-dose PTX-alone groups,respectively.Notably,WOG combined with CDDP displayed very high toxicity.Conclusions:A synergistic inhibitory effect on growth was observed when WOG was combined with low-dose PTX in gastric cancer cells and tumor xenografts.These findings provide evidence for the design of a clinical trial to test the combination of WOG with low-dose PTX in human gastric cancer.Tingting Wang Jing Gao Jingwei Yu Lin Shen 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,5:3
6Bioavailability of heavy metals in soil of the Tieguanyin tea garden, southeastern China显示文摘The bioavailability of 22 heavy metals was investigated at 19 sampling sites in Tieguanyin tea garden in Anxi County,Fujian Province,southeastern China.Heavy metal concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)and evaluated by geo-accumulation index(I_(geo)).Dilute nitric acid extraction was used to evaluate biological activity.Cu,Pb,and Cd were highly bioavailable and most easily absorbed by tea trees.Heavy metal bioavailability in the surface soil was as the ratio of the effective state to the total amount.Cd had the highest I_(geo)values,and the respective samples and sites were classified as moderately/strongly contaminated.Cd element is considered the main factor of heavy metal pollution in the tea garden in Anxi.The other heavy metals studied were present in lower concentrations;thus,the samples were classified as uncontaminated or slightly contaminated.Jingwei Sun Ruilian Yu Gongren Hu Songhe Jiang Yunfeng Zhang Xiaoming Wang 2017Acta Geochimica2017,36,3:2
7Nocturnal Low-levelWinds and Their Impacts on Particulate Matter over the Beijing Area显示文摘Three-month wind profiles, 260 m PM_1 concentrations [i.e., particulate matter(PM) with an aerodynamic diameter ≤1μm], and carrier-to-noise ratio data at two Beijing sites 55 km apart(urban and suburban) were collected to analyze the characteristics of low-level nocturnal wind and PM in autumn and winter. Three mountain-plain wind events with wind shear were selected for analysis. The measurements indicated that the maximum wind speeds of the northerly weak low-level jet(LLJ) below 320 m at the suburban site were weaker than those at the urban site, and the LLJ heights and depths at the suburban site were lower than those at the urban site. The nocturnal 140 m mean vertical velocities and the variations in vertical velocity at the urban site were larger than those at the suburban site. A nocturnal breeze with a weak LLJ of ~3 m s^(-1) noticeably offset nocturnal PM transport due to southerly flow and convergence within the northern urban area of Beijing. 8Depth Classification of Underwater Targets Based on Complex Acoustic Intensity of Normal Modes显示文摘In order to solve the problem of depth classification of the underwater target in a very low frequency acoustic field,the active component of cross spectra of particle pressure and horizontal velocity(ACCSPPHV) is adopted to distinguish the surface vessel and the underwater target.According to the effective depth of a Pekeris waveguide,the placing depth forecasting equations of passive vertical double vector hydrophones are proposed.Numerical examples show that when the sum of depths of two hydrophones is the effective depth,the sign distribution of ACCSPPHV has nothing to do with horizontal distance;in addition,the sum of the first critical surface and the second critical surface is equal to the effective depth.By setting the first critical surface less than the difference between the effective water depth and the actual water depth,that is,the second critical surface is greater than the actual depth,the three positive and negative regions of the whole ocean volume are equivalent to two positive and negative regions and therefore the depth classification of the underwater target is obtained.Besides,when the 20 m water depth is taken as the first critical surface in the simulation of underwater targets(40 Hz,50 Hz,and 60 Hz respectively),the effectiveness of the algorithm and the correctness of relevant conclusions are verified,and the analysis of the corresponding forecasting performance is conducted.YANG Guang YIN Jingwei YU Yun SHI Zhenhua 2016Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,2:2
9Can gene editing reduce postharvest waste and loss of fruit, vegetables, and ornamentals?显示文摘Postharvest waste and loss of horticultural crops exacerbates the agricultural problems facing humankind and will continue to do so in the next decade.Fruits and vegetables provide us with a vast spectrum of healthful nutrients,and along with ornamentals,enrich our lives with a wide array of pleasant sensory experiences.These commodities are,however,highly perishable.Approximately 33%of the produce that is harvested is never consumed since these products naturally have a short shelf-life,which leads to postharvest loss and waste.This loss,however,could be reduced by breeding new crops that retain desirable traits and accrue less damage over the course of long supply chains.New gene-editing tools promise the rapid and inexpensive production of new varieties of crops with enhanced traits more easily than was previously possible.Our aim in this review is to critically evaluate gene editing as a tool to modify the biological pathways that determine fruit,vegetable,and ornamental quality,especially after storage.We provide brief and accessible overviews of both the CRISPR-Cas9 method and the produce supply chain.Next,we survey the literature of the last 30 years,to catalog genes that control or regulate quality or senescence traits that are'ripe'for gene editing.Finally,we discuss barriers to implementing gene editing for postharvest,from the limitations of experimental methods to international policy.We conclude that in spite of the hurdles that remain,gene editing of produce and ornamentals will likely have a measurable impact on reducing postharvest loss and waste in the next 5-10 years.Emma N.Shipman Jingwei Yu Jiaqi Zhou Karin Albornoz Diane M.Beckles 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
10Application of Seismic Anisotropy Caused by Fissures in Coal Seams to the Detection of Coal-bed Methane Reservoirs显示文摘Coal-bed methane is accumulated in micro-fissures and cracks in coal seams. The coal seam is the source terrace and reservoir bed of the coal-bed methane (Qian et al., 1996). Anisotropy of coal seams is caused by the existence of fissures. 12Effect of plum-blossom needling versus tropicamide eye drops on adolescent myopia: protocol for a randomized crossover trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Myopia is the most common eye problem and affects an estimated 28.3% of the global population. Its incidence is increasing annually. Myopia treatment is limited to correcting visual acuity.Acupuncture is one of the main therapies in traditional Chinese medicine and includes plum-blossom needling, which has been widely used forboth the prevention and treatment of adolescent myopia. We hypothesized that plum-blossom needling would be effective in treating myopia compared with a tropicamide eye drops control.METHODS: This is a crossover randomized controlled trial involving adolescents with myopia. Participants will be randomized 1∶1 to plum-blossom needle or tropicamide eye drops arms. Subjects in each arm will be treated for 20 d, followed by a 1-month washout period and treatment change for another 20 d. The primary outcome is uncorrected distance and cycloplegic refractive errors. The secondary outcomes comprise corneal curvature, lens thickness, axial length, ciliary body thickness, accommodation amplitude, the NRA/PRA(negative/positive relative accommodation), flexible adjustment, and near point of convergence. 20Government Control,Uncertainty,and Investment Decisions in China's Listed Companies显示文摘This paper empirically investigates the relation between uncertainty and investment among China's listed companies, and analyzes the influence of government control on the investment-uncertainty relation. We find that there is a negative relation between total firm uncertainty and investment in China's listed companies. However, this holds only for privately controlled firms. Among privately controlled listed firms, investment is negatively related to firm-specific uncertainty, whereas among government-controlled ones, investment is positively related to market uncertainty. We also find that the risktaking preference of government-controlled listed companies is greater among those firms with fewer investment opportunities. Finally, among financially distressed firms, the negative relation between investment and uncertainty becomes nonsignificant because of risk shifting, which is more serious among government-controlled listed companies.
