| 1 | Ustilaginoidea virens: A Fungus Infects Rice Flower and Threats World Rice Production显示文摘Rice false smut disease, which is caused by the fungus Ustilaginoidea virens, is currently one of the most devastating rice fungal diseases in the world. Rice false smut disease not only causes severe yield loss and grain quality reduction, but also threatens food safety due to its production of mycotoxins. In this review, the most recent progresses regarding the life cycle, infection processes, genome and genetic diversity, pathogenic gene and disease resistance in rice were summarized in order to provide theoretical basis for the control of U. virens. | 3 | Cancer incidence and mortality in Guangdong province,2012显示文摘Objective: To estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province by analyzing the cancer data of selected population-based cancer registries in Guangdong province in 2012.Methods: Eight of nine population-based cancer registries submitted cancer data to the Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention(Guangdong CDC), whose data met the data quality criteria were included for analysis. The statistics of selected registries, stratified by areas, gender, age and cancer types, were used to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province according to the population data in Guangdong province. Segi's population and the national census population in 2000 were used for calculating the age-standardized rates(ASR). Results: A total of 15,084,942 people, accounted for 17.47% of all population in Guangdong province, were covered in 8 selected population-based cancer registries in 2012. The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and the percentage of death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 72.84% and 0.87%, respectively, and the mortality/incidence(M/I) ratio was 0.56. It was estimated that there were 211,300 new cancer cases and 117,300 cancer deaths. The incidence crude rate(CR), the ASR by Chinese standard population(ASRC) and by world standard population(ASRW), and the accumulated rate(AR)(0-74 years) were 250.20/100,000(265.39/100,000 in males, 234.29/100,000 in females), 207.04/100,000, 201.34/100,000 and 22.91%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The incidence CR and ASRC were 267.25/100,000 and 221.43/100,000 in urban areas, and 215.51/100,000 and 178.77/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The death CR, ASRC, ASRW and AR(0-74 years) were 148.44/100,000(190.95/100,000 in males, 105.06/100,000 in females), 103.73/100,000, 102.44/100,000 and 11.68%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The death CR and ASRC were 164.57/100,000 and 105.46/100,000 in urban areas, and 124.63/100,000 and 99.97/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. Top 5 cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and nasopharyngeal cancers(NPC), and top 5 death cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, and NPC in Guangdong province in 2012.Conclusions: Lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and NPC were the major economic cancer burdens and health concerns in Guangdong province in 2012. | 4 | Distribution of stable carbon isotope in coalbed methane from the east margin of Ordos Basin显示文摘The commercial recovery of methane from coal is well established in the coalbed methane(CBM) blocks at the east margin of Ordos Basin, China. CBM forms with various carbon isotopic ratios(δ13CPDB) due to the carbon isotopic fractionation in biogenical or thermogenical processes. Based on the geologic evolution of coalbed reservoir and studies on the characteristics of δ13 CPDB values distributed spatially(e.g., horizontal CBM well location area, vertical coal burial zone, coal rank, etc.) and temporally(e.g., geologic evolution history), we explored the formation mechanism of carbon isotopic of methane. The relatively low δ13 CPDB values are widely distributed along the research area, indicating a trend of 'lighter-heavier-lighter' from north to south. | 5 | Pre-moxibustion and moxibustion prevent Alzheimer's disease显示文摘The Alzheimer's disease model in Wistar rats was established by injection of amyloid β-peptide(Aβ1–42) into the hippocampal CA1 region. Rats were treated with suspended moxibustion on Baihui(GV20) and Shenshu(BL23) acupoints. Prior to and post Aβ1–42exposure. Results showed no evidence of apoptosis in hippocampal neurons, a significantly reduced apoptosis rate of neurons and improved learning and memory abilities were observed in the Alzheimer's disease model. In particular, moxibustion prior to Aβ1–42exposure was more effective than moxibustion after Aβ1–42exposure in protecting the neuronal structure and lowering the apoptosis rate. | 8 | Self-immolative micellar drug delivery:The linker matters显示文摘Redox-responsive polymer-drug conjugate micelles are excellent nanoscale vehicles for self-immolative intracellular drug delivery.To covalently connect the polymer and drug,disulfide-bearing linkers,such as 3,3'-dithiodipropionic acid (DDPA) and 4,4'-dithiodibutyric add (DDBA),are used.In this paper,we report the influence of linker length on the therapeutic outcome of redox-sensitive conjugate micelles.Curcumin was selected as the model drug and it was conjugated to a multivalent methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-polylysine copolymer with DDPA or DDBA as the linker.The obtained two polymer-curcumin conjugates were amphiphilic and could self-assemble into micelles that have a hydrodynamic diameter less than 100 nm.The loading of curcumin in both micelles was above 20% (w/w).Irrespective of the linker type,micelle disassembly was observed due to the collapse of the disulfide bond in a reducing environment.However,the rate of curcumin release was much faster with the DDBA linker than with the DDPA linker as the side product was a 5-membered ring with a low ring strain.The linker length-induced variation of curcumin release kinetics caused a significant difference in the intracellular drug concentration and a higher cytotoxicity was witnessed in three model cell lines (HeLa,PC3,and 4T1) for the micelles with a DDBA linker compared to those containing a DDPA linker.As expected,this phenomenon was also observed in HeLa tumor-bearing nude mice in vivo.The current work highlights the significance of linker length in engineering redox-responsive on-demand delivery systems. | Xuan Meng Min Gao Jian Deng Di Lu Aiping Fan Dan Ding Deling Kong Zheng Wang Yanjun Zhao | 2018 | Nano Research2018,11,12: | 2 |

| 11 | 中国城市中大气分粒级的粒子数浓度与每日死亡率显示文摘[背景]大气颗粒物-9健康结局之间的相关性已在全球范围内广为报道。然而,有关不同粒径颗粒物对健康影响的研究却十分有限。[目的]以中国沈阳为例,探索不同粒径颗粒物的数量浓度(particle number concentrations,PNCs)与每日死亡率之间的关系。[方法]研究时间为2006年12月1日至2008年11月30日,分别收集每日死因别死亡率和直径为0.25~10岬颗粒物的每日PNCs。用基于半泊松回归的广义相加模型来评估PNCs-9死亡率之间的相关性,同时采用自然样条平滑函数校正随时间变化的协变量、长期趋势及季节性趋势。[结果]在研究时间内,归因于非意外的自然死亡、心血管疾病和呼吸系统疾病的平均每日死亡数分别为67、32和7。直径为0.25-0.50gm的颗粒物PNCs与总死亡率和心血管疾病死亡率明显相关,但与呼吸系统疾病死亡率无明显相关性。与冷季相比,暖季里PNCs效应估计值较大,并且效应值随着颗粒物粒径的减小而增加。0.25~0.28p,m、O.35~0.40μm和0.45—0.50gm的颗粒物PNCs每增加1个IQR浓度,与之相关的总死亡风险分别增大2.41%(95%CI:1.23%~3.58%)、1.31%(95%CI:0.52%~2.09%)和0.45%(95%CI:0.04%-0.87%)。校正大气颗粒物和气态污染物的质量浓度后,这种相关性仍然保持稳定。[结论]研究结果提示,直径〈0.5μm的颗粒物可能是空气污染颗粒中导致不良健康影响的最主要成分,并且对健康的不利影响随着颗粒直径的减小而增加。 | Xia Meng Yanjun Ma Renjie Chen Zhijun Zhou Bingheng Chen Haidong Kan 张伊人 汪源 金泰廙 | 2014 | 环境与职业医学2014,31,4: | 2 |

| 13 | Determination of rock mass integrity coefficient using a non-invasive geophysical approach显示文摘Determination of rock mechanical parameters is the most important step in rock mass quality evaluation and has significant impacts on geotechnical engineering practice.Rock mass integrity coefficient(KV)is one of the most efficient parameters,which is conventionally determined from boreholes.Such approaches,however,are time-consuming and expensive,offer low data coverage of point measurements,require heavy equipment,and are hardly conducted in steep topographic sites.Hence,borehole approaches cannot assess the subsurface thoroughly for rock mass quality evaluation.Alternatively,use of geophysical methods is non-invasive,rapid and economical.The proposed geophysical approach makes useful empirical correlation between geophysical and geotechnical parameters.We evaluated the rock mass quality via integration between KV measured from the limited boreholes and inverted resistivity obtained from electrical resistivity tomography(ERT).The borehole-ERT correlation provided KV along various geophysical profiles for more detailed 2D/3D(two-/three-dimensional)mapping of rock mass quality.The subsurface was thoroughly evaluated for rock masses with different engineering qualities,including highly weathered rock,semi-weathered rock,and fresh rock.Furthermore,ERT was integrated with induced polarization(IP)to resolve the uncertainty caused by water/clay content.Our results show that the proposed method,compared with the conventional approaches,can reduce the ambiguities caused by inadequate data,and give more accurate insights into the subsurface for rock mass quality evaluation. | Muhammad Hasan Yanjun Shang Xuetao Yi Peng Shao Meng He | 2023 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,6: | 1 |

| 16 | Petroleum coke derived porous carbon/NiCoP with efficient reviving catalytic and adsorptive activity as sulfur host for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Sulfur-host material with abundant pore structure and high catalysis plays an important role in development of high-energy-density lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries.Herein,we implanted NiCoP nanoparticles into the N,S co-doped porous carbon derived from petroleum coke(PCPC)to fabricate the sulfur-host of PCPC/NiCoP composites.The high specific surface area of PCPC provides abundant adsorption sites for capturing LiPSs and the NiCoP nanoparticles to improve the polarity and boost the LiPSs conversion kinetics of PCPC.The Li-S cells fabricated with PCPC/NiCoP as sulfur-host deliver high discharge capacity of 1,462.7 mAh·g^(-1)under the current density of 0.1 C and exhibit ultralong lifespan over 800 cycles under the current density of 1,2,and even 5 C.Additionally,the prepared composites cathodes deliver an outstanding discharge capacity of 932.5 and 826.4 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.5 and 1 C with a high sulfur loading of over 3.90 mg·cm^(-2),and remain stable about 60 cycles.Furthermore,the promoted adsorption-conversion process of polysulfides by introducing NiCoP nanoparticles into PCPC was investigated by experimental and theoretical calculation studies.This work offers a new light for tacking the obstacles of porous carbon-based sulfur-host and propelling the development of petroleum coke-based porous carbon for high performance Li-S batteries. | Bo Zhang Lu Wang Bin Wang Yanjun Zhai Shuyuan Zeng Meng Zhang Yitai Qian Liqiang Xu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,5: | 1 |
| 17 | Critical tectonic events and their geological controls on deep buried coalbed methane accumulation in Daning-Jixian Block, eastern Ordos Basin显示文摘Commercial exploration and development of deep buried coalbed methane (CBM) in Daning-Jixian Block, eastern margin of Ordos Basin, have rapidly increased in recent decades. Gas content, saturation and well productivity show significant heterogeneity in this area. To better understand the geological controlling mechanism on gas distribution heterogeneity, the burial history, hydrocarbon generation history and tectonic evolution history were studied by numerical simulation and experimental simulation, which could provide guidance for further development of CBM in this area. The burial history of coal reservoir can be classified into six stages, i.e., shallowly buried stage, deeply burial stage, uplifting stage, short-term tectonic subsidence stage, large-scale uplifting stage, sustaining uplifting and structural inversion stage. The organic matter in coal reservoir experienced twice hydrocarbon generation. Primary and secondary hydrocarbon generation processes were formed by the Early and Middle Triassic plutonic metamorphism and Early Cretaceous regional magmatic thermal metamorphism, respectively. Five critical tectonic events of the Indosinian, Yanshanian and Himalayan orogenies affect different stages of the CBM reservoir accumulation process. The Indosinian orogeny mainly controls the primary CBM generation. The Yanshanian Orogeny dominates the second gas generation and migration processes. | 20 | UvWhi2 Is Required for Stress Response and Pathogenicity in Ustilaginoidea virens显示文摘Some stress response-related genes have been identified in Ustilaginoidea virens,but it is not clear whether and how defects of stress responses affect the pathogenesis processes of U.virens.In this study,we identified a general stress response factor UvWHI2 as a homolog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Whi2 in U.virens.The relative expression level of Uv Whi2 was significantly up-regulated during infection,suggesting that UvWHI2 may be involved in pathogenesis.Furthermore,knockout of Uv Whi2 showed decreased mycelial growth,increased conidiation in the potato sucrose medium and a defect in pathogenicity.In addition,the RNA-Seq and phenotypic analysis showed that UvWHI2 was involved in response to oxidative,hyperosmotic,cell wall stress and nutrient limitation.Further studies revealed that the defects of stress responses of the?Uvwhi2 mutant affected the formation of secondary spores on the nutrient limited surface and the rice surface,resulting in a significant reduction of pathogenicity of U.virens.Our results suggest that UvWHI2 is necessary for fungal growth,stress responses and the formation of secondary spores in U.virens.In addition,the defects of stress responses can affect the formation of secondary spores on the rice surface,and then compromise the pathogenicity of U.virens. | MENG Shuai QIU Jiehua XIONG Meng LIU Zhiquan Jane Sadhna JAGERNATH LIN Fucheng SHI Huanbin KOU Yanjun | 2022 | Rice science2022,29,1: | 0 |
