1Toward Wisdom-Evolutionary and Primitive-Concise 6G:A New Paradigm of Semantic Communication Networks显示文摘The sixth generation(6G)mobile networks will reshape the world by offering instant,efficient,and intelligent hyper-connectivity,as envisioned by the previously proposed Ubiquitous-X 6G networks.Such hyper-massive and global connectivity will introduce tremendous challenges into the operation and management of 6G networks,calling for revolutionary theories and technological innovations.To this end,we propose a new route to boost network capabilities toward a wisdom-evolutionary and primitive-concise network(WePCN)vision for the Ubiquitous-X 6G network.In particular,we aim to concretize the evolution path toward the WePCN by first conceiving a new semantic representation framework,namely semantic base,and then establishing an intelligent and efficient semantic communication(IE-SC)network architecture.In the IE-SC architecture,a semantic intelligence plane is employed to interconnect the semantic-empowered physical-bearing layer,network protocol layer,and application-intent layer via semantic information flows.The proposed architecture integrates artificial intelligence and network technologies to enable intelligent interactions among various communication objects in 6G.It features a lower bandwidth requirement,less redundancy,and more accurate intent identification.We also present a brief review of recent advances in semantic communications and highlight potential use cases,complemented by a range of open challenges for 6G.Ping Zhang Wenjun Xu Hui Gao Kai Niu Xiaodong Xu Xiaoqi Qin Caixia Yuan Zhijin Qin Haitao Zhao Jibo Wei Fangwei Zhang 2022Engineering2022,8,1:28
2A review of ecological restoration techniques in fluvial rivers显示文摘Rivers play an important role in people's living and agricultural production,however,intense human activities have broken the original ecological balance,and affected structures and functions of the river ecosystem.To restore the damaged river ecosystem back to a healthy status,effective ecological restoration measures need to be implemented.The main problems that the damaged rivers face are either the locally altered hydrological processes affected by construction of hydraulic facilities,or the deterioration of water quality resulted from pollution emissions,or both.In this study,ecological restoration techniques of the rivers affected by engineering control or pollution are reviewed respectively.In addition,three kinds of methods,i.e.physical,chemical and biological-ecological methods are introduced in details for the rivers affected by water pollution.At present,the development of river restoration techniques shows the following trends:1) the scale of ecological restoration is becoming larger;2) ecological restoration measures are required to meet multiple objectives;and 3) the management of water environment is changing from water quality management to aquatic ecosystem management.Baozhu Pan Jianping Yuan Xinhua Zhang Zhaoyin Wang Jiao Chen Jinyou Lu Wenjun Yang Zhiwei Li Na Zhao Mengzhen Xu 2016International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,2:18
3Salusins protect myocardium against ischemic injury by alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress显示文摘Salusins are regulatory peptides that affect cardiovascular function. We previously reported that salusin-α and -β protected cultured cardiomyocytes from serum deprivation-induced cell death through upregulating glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) resident protein whose overexpression acts as a marker and suppressor of ER stress. The present study examined whether salusin-α and -β inhibit ER stress in ischemic myocardium. In a rat model of myocardial infarction created by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD), salusin-α or -β was intravenously injected at 5 or 15 nmol kg 1 15 min prior to 2 h of LAD occlusion. The high dose of salusin-α and -β significantly improved heart function and hemodynamics in LAD-occluded rats, but had no effects in sham-operated rats. The arrhythmias caused by LAD occlusion were markedly attenuated by salusin-α and -β. The apoptotic rate in ischemic myocardium was reduced from 31.5%±3.7% to 19.8%±2.2% and 12.3%±2.2%, and the infarct size was reduced from 53.4%±4.0% of the risk area to 26.5%±9.7% and 23.7%±8.9% by 15 nmol kg 1 salusin-α and -β, respectively. Furthermore, salusin-α and -β prevented the activation of GRP78 and ER stress-specific apoptotic effectors caspase-12 and CHOP (C/EBP homologous protein), and attenuated the reduction of an ER stress-associated antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2 in ischemic cardiac tissue. The salusins also inhibited the ER stress induced by tunicamycin in cultured rat H9c2 cardiomyocytes. 6The tuning of pore structures and acidity for Zn/Al layered double hydroxides:The application on selective hydrodesulfurization for FCC gasoline显示文摘Co–Mo catalysts applied on the hydrodesulfurization(HDS) for FCC gasoline were prepared with Zn–Al layered double hydroxides(LDHs) to improve their performances,and the effects of pore structures and acidity on HDS performances were studied in detail. A series of Zn–Al/LDHs samples with different pore structures and acidities are synthesized on the bases of co-precipitation of OH-,CO2-,Al3+,and Zn2+. The neutralization p H is a main factor to affect the pore structures and acidity of Zn–Al/LDHs,and a series of Zn–Al/LDHs with different pore structures and acidities are obtained. Based on the representative samples with different specific surface areas(SBET) and acidities,three Co Mo/LDHs catalysts were prepared,and their HDS performances were compared with traditional Co Mo/Al2O3 catalysts. The results indicated that catalysts prepared with high SBETpossessed high HDS activity,and Br?nsted acid sites could reduce the thiol content in the product to some extent. 7A recombinant receptor-binding domain in trimeric form generates protective immunity against SARSCoV-2 infection in nonhuman primates显示文摘A safe and effective vaccine is critical to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.Here,we developed a trimeric SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain(RBD)subunit vaccine candidate that simulates the natural structure of the spike(S)trimer glycoprotein.Immunization with the RBD trimer-induced robust humoral and cellular immune responses,and a high level of neutralizing antibodies was maintained for at least 4.5 months.Moreover,the antibodies that were produced in response to the vaccine effectively cross-neutralized the SARS-CoV-2501Y.V2 variant(B.1.351).Of note,when the vaccine-induced antibodies dropped to a sufficiently low level,only one boost quickly activated the anamnestic immune response,conferring full protection against a SARSCoV-2 challenge in rhesus macaques without typical histopathological changes in the lung tissues.These results demonstrated that the SARS-CoV-2 RBD trimer vaccine candidate is highly immunogenic and safe,providing long-lasting,broad,and significant immunity protection in nonhuman primates,thereby offering an optimal vaccination strategy against COVID-19.Limin Yang Deyu Tian Jian-bao Han Wenhui Fan Yuan Zhang Yunlong Li Wenqiang Sun Yanqiu Wei Xiaodong Tian Dan-dan Yu Xiao-li Feng Gong Cheng Yuhai Bi Yong-tang Zheng Wenjun Liu 2021The Innovation2021,2,3:3
8TLR9 agonist enhances radiofrequency ablation-induced CTL responses, leading to the potent inhibition of primary tumor growth and lung metastasis显示文摘Radiofrequency ablation(RFA)is the most common approach to thermal ablation for cancer therapy.Unfortunately,its efficacy is limited by incomplete ablation,and further optimization of RFA is required.Here,we demonstrate that incubation at 65°C triggers more EG7 tumor cell death by necrosis than treatment at 45°C,and the 65°C-treated cells are more effective at inducing antigen-specific CD8^(+)cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)responses after injection in mice than the 45°C-treated ones.Dendritic cells(DCs)that phagocytose 65°C-treated EG7 cells become mature with upregulated MHCII and CD80 expression and are capable of efficiently inducing effector CTLs in mouse tumor models.RFA(65°C)therapy of EG7 tumors induces large areas of tumor necrosis and stimulates CTL responses.This leads to complete regression of small(~100 mm^(3))tumors but fails to suppress the growth of larger(~350 mm^(3))tumors.The administration of the Toll-like receptor-9(TLR9)agonist unmethylated cytosine-phosphorothioate-guanine oligonucleotide(CpG)to DCs phagocytosing 65°C-treated EG7 cells enhances the expression of MHCII and CD40 on DCs as well as DC-induced stimulation of CTL responses.Importantly,the intratumoral administration of CpG following RFA also increases the frequencies of tumor-associated immunogenic CD11b−CD11c^(+)CD103^(+)DC2 and CD11b+F4/80+MHCII+M1 macrophages and increases CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)T-cell tumor infiltration,leading to enhanced CD4^(+)T cell-dependent CTL responses and potent inhibition of primary RFA-treated or distant untreated tumor growth as well as tumor lung metastasis in mice bearing larger tumors.Overall,our data indicate that CpG administration,which enhances RFA-induced CTL responses and ultimately potentiates the inhibition of primary tumor growth and lung metastasis,is a promising strategy for improving RFA treatment,which may assist in optimizing this important cancer therapy.Aizhang Xu Lifeng Zhang Jingying Yuan Fatma Babikr Andrew Freywald Rajni Chibbar Michael Moser Wenjun Zhang Bing Zhang Zhaoying Fu Jim Xiang 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,10:3
9MXene-composited highly stretchable,sensitive and durable hydrogel for flexible strain sensors显示文摘The flourishing development in flexible electronics has provoked intensive research in flexible strain sensors to realize accurate perception acquisition under different external stimuli.However,building hydrogel-based strain sensors with high stretchability and sensitivity remains a great challenge.Herein,MXene nanosheets were composited into polyacrylamide-sodium alginate matrix to construct mechanical robust and sensitive double networked hydrogel strain sensor.The hydrophilic MXene nanosheets formed strong interactions with the polymer matrix and endowed the hydrogel with excellent tensile properties(3150%),compliant mechanical strength(2.03 kPa^(-1)in Young’s Module)and long-lasting stability and fatigue resistance(1000 dynamic cycles under 1,600%strain).Due to the highly oriented MXene-based three dimensional conductive networks,the hydrogel sensor achieved extremely high tensile sensitivity(18.15 in gauge factor)and compression sensitivity(0.38 kPa^(-1)below 3 kPa).MXene hydrogel-based strain sensors also displayed negligible hysteresis in electromechanical performance,typical frequent-independent feature and rapid response time to external stimuli.Moreover,the sensor exhibited accurate response to different scales of human movements,providing potential application in speech recognition,expression recognition and handwriting verification.Wei Yuan Xinyu Qu Yao Lu Wen Zhao Yanfang Ren Qian Wang Wenjun Wang Xiaochen Dong 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,6:3
10Conferring receptors on recipient cells with extracellular vesicles for targeted drug delivery显示文摘Triple negative breast cancer(TNBC)is a heterogeneous subset of breast cancer characterized by its lack of estrogen receptor,progesterone receptor,and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2),which altogether prevents TNBC from being treated effectively.For many years,the treatment paradigms and overall survival of patients with TNBC have remained largely stagnant.Recent attempts to convert cold tumors to hot tumors by promoting antigen presentation have shown increased T cell infiltration and significantly induced immune responses for tumor killing.Inspired by this concept,the expression of specific targetable antigens on TNBC cells may further benefit relevant targeted drug delivery.In this study,we successfully conferred sufficient HER2 on the surface of TNBC MDA-MB-231 cells via simple EV-plasma membrane fusion with HER2+extracellular vesicles(EV)derived from HER2 overexpressing BT-474 cells.Subsequently,anti-HER2 antibody conjugated paclitaxel-loaded liposomes were used for HER2-targeted drug delivery.Our findings demonstrated this HER2 grafting,in conjunction with targeted drug delivery,can improve the treatment efficacy in vitro and in vivo.This novel approach represents a facile method of altering cell membrane antigen presentation via convenient EVs uptake and may pave the way for the burgeoning wave of targeted therapy and/or immunotherapy.Zachary Quinn Wenjun Mao Yiqiu Xia Rhea John Yuan Wan 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,3:3
11Chemical oxidation of arsenic in the environment and its application in remediation: A mini review显示文摘Arsenic(As)contamination in soil and water poses a serious threat to the ecosystem health and human beings,and is of widespread concern.The main As species found in soil and water are arsenite As(Ⅲ)and arsenate As(V).Because As(Ⅲ)is more toxic and often more mobile than As(Ⅴ),many remediation strategies aim to oxidize As(Ⅲ)to As(Ⅴ).In the environment,the reduction of As(Ⅴ)under anaerobic conditions is mainly mediated by microorganisms,but the oxidation of As(Ⅲ)under aerobic conditions can be mediated primarily by chemical processes.This article first reviews the existing knowledge on chemical oxidation of As(Ⅲ)in the environment,with an emphasis on the roles of iron(Fe)and manganese(Mn)oxides.The application of Fe and Mn oxides for the remediation of As-contaminated soil and water is then summarized.The oxidation of As(Ⅲ)by oxygen is very slow in the absence of catalysts.Many Mn oxides,on the other hand,can efficiently oxidize As(Ⅲ).Although the oxidation of As(Ⅲ)by Fe(Ⅲ)is also slow,this process can be accelerated by light or Fe(Ⅱ).Iron and Mn oxides are widely used for the remediation of As-contaminated soil and water,with Fe oxides generally acting as absorbents while Mn oxides as oxidants.To better understand and regulate As transformation and transport in the environment,further study is needed on the mechanisms and influencing factors of As(Ⅲ)oxidation by Fe and Mn oxides,and the development of innovative methods and materials based on Fe and Mn oxides are desired.Chaolei YUAN Qi LI Zhaoyang SUN Wenjun ZHANG Jiangrong CHEN Zheng CHEN Shuo NA Hongwen SUN 2023Pedosphere2023,33,1:2

14Probiotic Cocktails Alleviate Heat-induced Intestinal Barrier Dysfunction and Oxidative Stress in Broiler Chickens显示文摘[Objective]To investigate the effect of probiotic cocktails on growth performance,intestinal barrier function and antioxidant status in heat-stressed broilers.[Methods]One thousand 1-day-old broilers were randomly divided into five groups:the thermoneutral(TN),heat stress(HS),heat stress with antibiotic(HS-AB),heat stress with probiotic cocktail 1(HS-P1),and heat stress with probiotic cocktail 2(HS-P2)groups.The broilers in TN and HS groups received a diet without supplements,and those in HS-AB,HS-P1 and HS-P2 groups were fed a diet supplemented with chlortetracycline(300 g/t)or probiotic cocktail 1 or 2(100 g/t),respectively.[Results]The results showed that heat stress reduced growth performance and increased inflammatory factors,NF-κB and Toll-like receptors in jejunal mucosa coinciding with higher expression of jejunal tight junction proteins,mucin and heat stress protein mRNA.[Conclusion]Dietary probiotic cocktails had protective effects against the heat stress-induced changes in the intestine,with increased serum antioxidant capacity and growth performance of broilers.The effect of these cocktails was similar to that of chlortetracycline.Wang Zheng Zhang Dawei Yu Wenjun Qi Changhai Yuan Jiang 2019Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2019,11,3:1

17Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Al-Mg-Sc-Zr Alloy Additively Manufactured by Laser Direct Energy Deposition显示文摘An Al-Mg-Sc-Zr alloy was additively manufactured by laser direct energy deposition(DED)under different laser powers,and the microstructures and mechanical properties of the as-deposited samples were investigated.The samples showed a fully equiaxed grain structure with grain sizes of 2–30μm.Most of the blocky primary Al3(Sc,Zr)-precipitated phases(<5μm)were arranged along the grain boundaries.A small amount of fine granular secondary Al3(Sc,Zr)phases(<0.5μm)were precipitated owing to the cyclic heat treatment during the DED forming process.According to the EBSD(Electron backscatter diffraction)results,the texture index and strength of the sample were only slightly greater than 1,indicating that the material structure exhibited a certain but not obvious anisotropy.The sample in the horizontal direction had better yield strength,tensile strength,and elogation properties(399.87 MPa,220.96 MPa,9.13%)than that in the building direction(385.40 MPa,219.40 MPa,8.24%),although the sample in the〈XOZ〉plane had the finest equiaxed grains.The ductility of the〈XOZ〉sample deteriorated as the number of pores increased.Qian Hua Wenjun Wang Ruidi Li Hongbin Zhu Zehuan Lin Rong Xu Tiechui Yuan Kai Liu 2022Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering(Additive Manufacturing Frontiers)2022,1,4:1
18Maternal genetic history of ancient Tibetans over the past 4000 years显示文摘The settlement of the Tibetan Plateau epitomizes human adaptation to a high-altitude environment that poses great challenges to human activity.Here,we reconstruct a 4000-year maternal genetic history of Tibetans using 128 ancient mitochondrial genome data from 37 sites in Tibet.The phylogeny of haplotypes M9a1a,M9a1b,D4g2,G2a’c,and D4i show that ancient Tibetans share the most recent common ancestor with ancient Middle and Upper Yellow River populations around the Early and Middle Holocene.In addition,the connections between Tibetans and Northeastern Asians vary over the past 4000 years,with a stronger matrilineal connection between the two during 4000 BPe3000 BP,and a weakened connection after 3000 BP,that are coincident with climate change,followed by a reinforced connection after the Tubo period(1400 BPe1100 BP).Besides,an over 4000-year matrilineal continuity is observed in some of the maternal lineages.We also find the maternal genetic structure of ancient Tibetans is correlated to the geography and interactions between ancient Tibetans and ancient Nepal and Pakistan populations.Overall,the maternal genetic history of Tibetans can be characterized as a long-term matrilineal continuity with frequent internal and external population interactions that are dynamically shaped by geography,climate changes,as well as historical events.Ganyu Zhang Can Cui Shargan Wangdue Hongliang Lu Honghai Chen Lin Xi Wei He Haibing Yuan Tinley Tsring Zujun Chen Feng Yang Tashi Tsering Shuai Li Norbu Tashi Tsho Yang Yan Tong Xiaohong Wu Linhui Li Yuanhong He Peng Cao Qingyan Dai Feng Liu Xiaotian Feng Tianyi Wang Ruowei Yang Wanjing Ping Ming Zhang Xing Gao Yichen Liu Wenjun Wang Qiaomei Fu 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,10:1
19Engineered extracellular vesicles for concurrent Anti-PDL1 immunotherapy and chemotherapy显示文摘Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICI)targeting PD-1/PD-L1 have been approved for the treatment of a variety of cancers.However,the efficacy of antibody-based ICIs could be further improved by mitigating anti-drug antibodies,proteolytic cleavage,and on-target off-tumor toxicity.One strategy for accomplishing this is through the use of extracellular vesicles(EVs),cell derived submicron vesicles with many unique properties.We constructed an engineered MDA-MB-231 cell line for harvesting EVs.This was accomplished by overexpressing a high-affinity variant human PD-1 protein(havPD-1),while simultaneously knocking out intrinsic PD-L1 and beta-2 microglobulin.The engineered havPD-1 EVs reduced PD-L1 overexpressing cancer cell proliferation and induced cellular apoptosis.Moreover,the EVs were shown to efficiently block PD-L1 mediated T cell suppression.Meanwhile antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and complement-dependent cytotoxicity were not observed.The havPD-1 EVs treatment resulted in robust anti-tumor activity in both preventative co-implantation and therapeutic xenograft tumor models reconstituted with human T cells.The efficacy of the havPD-1 EVs was shown to be comparable to clinical anti-PD1 monoclonal antibodies.Additionally,loading the havPD-1 EVs with a potent PARP inhibitor was shown to further augment treatment efficacy.In brief,the engineered universal EVs harboring havPD-1 proteins can be used for cancer concurrent immunotherapy and chemotherapy.Yundi Chen Lixue Wang Mingfeng Zheng Chuandong Zhu Guosheng Wang Yiqiu Xia Ethan J.Blumenthal Wenjun Mao Yuan Wan 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,3:1
