1Characterization of Water Quality in Xiao Xingkai Lake:Implications for Trophic Status and Management显示文摘Increasing cases of lake eutrophication globally have raised concerns among stakeholders,and particularly in China.Evaluating the causes of eutrophication in waterways is essential for effective pollution prevention and control.Xiao Xingkai Lake is part of and connected to Xingkai(Khanka)Lake,a boundary lake between China and Russia.In this study,we investigated the spatio-temporal variabilities in water quality(i.e.,dissolved oxygen(DO),total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),chemical oxygen demand(CODMn)and ammonium-nitrogen(NH4+-N))in Xiao Xingkai Lake,from 2012 to 2014,after which a Trophic Level Index was used to evaluate trophic status,in addition to the factors influencing water quality variation in the lake.The DO,TN,TP,CODMn and NH4+-N concentrations were 0.44-15.57,0.16-5.11,0.01-0.45,0.16-48.31,and 0.19-0.78 mg/L,respectively.Compared to the Environmental Quality Standards for surface water(GB 3838-2002)in China,the lake transitioned to an oligotrophic status in 2013 and 2014 from a mesotrophic status in 2012,TN and TP concentrations were the key factors influencing water quality of Xiao Xingkai Lake.Non-para-metric test results showed that sampling time and sites had significant effects on water quality.Water quality was worse in summer and in tourism and aquaculture areas,followed by agricultural drainage areas.Furthermore,lake water trophic status fluctuated between medium eutrophic and light eutrophic status from September 2012 to September 2014,and was negatively correlated with water level.Water quality in tourism and aquaculture sites were medium eutrophic,while in agricultural areas were light eutrophic.According to the results,high water-level fluctuations and anthropogenic activities were the key factor driving variability in physicochemical parameters associated with water quality in Xiao Xingkai Lake.YU Shuling LI Xiaoyu WEN Bolong CHEN Guoshuang HARTLEYC Anne JIANG Ming LI Xiujun 2021Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,3:4
2Ecological Offsetting in China's Coastal Wetlands: Existing Challenges and Strategies for Future Improvement显示文摘Land-use changes in coastal wetlands have led to a worldwide degradation of marine coastal ecosystems and a loss of the ecological services they provide. Ecological offsetting is a popular strategy and an effective mitigation measure for ecosystems that have been degraded, damaged, or destroyed and is critical for habitats where natural recovery is hindered. However, the current understanding of the theory and practice of ecological offsetting for coastal wetlands is extremely limited in many developing countries. We conducted a review of ecological offsetting for coastal wetlands projects and studies in China in 1979–2017 to explore the application and limitations of ecological offsetting theory. It was found that China's coastal ecological offsetting regime has recently entered a rapidly developing stage, with an increasing number of different types of offsetting projects conducted, but theoretical research lags behind practical applications. Considerable governmental, social, technological and ethical challenges remain to resolve. Coastal ecological offsetting schemes have been inconsistent in meeting conservation objectives or preventing net losses because of the challenges of ensuring they are fully consistent in practice(mainly in-kind offsets) and theory(mainly out-of-kind offsets). Ecological offsetting projects were primarily implemented by government, developers, and non-profit organizations. The available funding of coastal ecological offsetting projects is insufficient, which makes ecological offsetting a risky operation. 4Electrochemically Grown Ultrathin Platinum Nanosheet Electrodes with Ultralow Loadings for Energy-Saving and Industrial-Level Hydrogen Evolution显示文摘Nanostructured catalyst-integrated electrodes with remarkably reduced catalyst loadings,high catalyst utilization and facile fabrication are urgently needed to enable cost-effective,green hydrogen production via proton exchange membrane electrolyzer cells(PEMECs).Herein,benefitting from a thin seeding layer,bottom-up grown ultrathin Pt nanosheets(Pt-NSs)were first deposited on thin Ti substrates for PEMECs via a fast,template-and surfactant-free electrochemical growth process at room temperature,showing highly uniform Pt surface coverage with ultralow loadings and vertically well-aligned nanosheet morphologies.Combined with an anode-only Nafion 117 catalyst-coated membrane(CCM),the Pt-NS electrode with an ultralow loading of 0.015 mgPt cm−2 demonstrates superior cell performance to the commercial CCM(3.0 mgPt cm^(−2)),achieving 99.5%catalyst savings and more than 237-fold higher catalyst utilization.The remarkable performance with high catalyst utilization is mainly due to the vertically well-aligned ultrathin nanosheets with good surface coverage exposing abundant active sites for the electrochemical reaction.Overall,this study not only paves a new way for optimizing the catalyst uniformity and surface coverage with ultralow loadings but also provides new insights into nanostructured electrode design and facile fabrication for highly efficient and low-cost PEMECs and other energy storage/conversion devices.Lei Ding Zhiqiang Xie Shule Yu Weitian Wang Alexander Y.Terekhov Brian K.Canfield Christopher B.Capuano Alex Keane Kathy Ayers David A.Cullen Feng-Yuan Zhang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,9:1

6LIFU-responsive nanomedicine enables acoustic droplet vaporization-induced apoptosis of macrophages for stabilizing vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques显示文摘Due to the high risk of tearing and rupture,vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques would induce serious cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Despite the available clinical methods can evaluate the vulnerability of plaques and specifically treat vulnerable plaques before a cardiovascular event,but the efficiency is still low and undesirable.Herein,we rationally design and engineer the low-intensity focused ultrasound(LIFU)-responsive FPD@CD nanomedicine for the highly efficient treatment of vulnerable plaques by facilely loading phase transition agent perfluorohexane(PFH)into biocompatible PLGA-PEG-PLGA nanoparticles(PPP NPs)and then attaching dextran sulphate(DS)onto the surface of PPP NPs for targeting delivery.DS,as a typical macrophages-targeted molecule,can achieve the precise vaporization of NPs and subsequently controllable apoptosis of RAW 264.7 macrophages as induced by acoustic droplet vaporization(ADV)effect.In addition,the introduction of DiR and Fe3O4 endows nanomedicine with near-infrared fluorescence(NIRF)and magnetic resonance(MR)imaging capabilities.The engineered FPD@CD nanomedicine that uses macrophages as therapeutic targets achieve the conspicuous therapeutic effect of shrinking vulnerable plaques based on in vivo and in vitro evaluation outcomes.A reduction of 49.4%of vascular stenosis degree in gross pathology specimens were achieved throughout the treatment period.This specific,efficient and biosafe treatment modality potentiates the biomedical application in patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases based on the relief of the plaque rupture concerns.Jingxin Hou Jun Zhou Meiqi Chang Guangcheng Bao Jie Xu Man Ye Yixin Zhong Shuling Liu Junrui Wang Wei Zhang Haitao Ran Zhigang Wang Yu Chen Dajing Guo 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,10:1

9Neoadjuvant chemotherapy with pingyangmycin can inhibit the amplification and metastasis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the short-term effects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with pingyangmycin(PYM)in the treat-ment of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.Methods:24 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma were treated with PYM before the operation,and the surgeries were undergone within one week after neoadjuvant chemotherapy.PCNA,p53,Bcl-2 and CD44v6 were detected in the specimens of tumor,retreated tumor and normal tissue using immunohistochemical methods.Results:Apoptosis could be detected more often in specimens with tumor and retreated tumor after chemotherapy than that before.The expression of PCNA,p53,Bcl-2 and CD44v6 in tumor tissue after neoadjuvant chemotherapy with PYM was weaker than that before the chemotherapy.There was significant difference in the positive ratio of PCNA,p53,Bcl-2 and CD44v6 be-tween retreated tumor and tumor.Conclusion:After neoadjuvant chemotherapy with PYM,a large number of tumor cells died.The amplification and metastasis of tumor were suppressed by neoadjuvant chemotherapy with PYM.Xiaolong Li Ming Gao Haifeng Yu Benyi Xu Zhengjin Ge Yang Yu Songfeng Wei Shuling Li 2006The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2006,5,6:1

12Stabilizing mechanism of single-atom catalysts on a defective carbon surface显示文摘Single-atom(SA)catalysts represent the ultimate limit of atom use efficiency for catalysis.Promising experimental progress in synthesizing SA catalysts aside,the atomic-scale transformation mechanism from metal nanoparticles(NPs)to metal SAs and the stabilization mechanism of SA catalysts at high temperature remain elusive.Through systematic molecular dynamics simulations,for the first time,we reveal the atomic-scale mechanisms associated with the transformation of a metal NP into an array of stable SAs on a defective carbon surface at a high temperature,using Au as a model material.Simulations reveal the pivotal role of defects in the carbon surface in trapping and stabilizing the Au-SAs at high temperatures,which well explain previous experimental observations.Furthermore,reactive simulations demonstrate that the thermally stable Au-SAs exhibit much better catalyst activity than Au-NPs for the methane oxidation at high temperatures,in which the substantially reduced energy barriers for oxidation reaction steps are the key.Findings in this study offer mechanistic and quantitative guidance for material selection and optimal synthesis conditions to stabilize metal SA catalysts at high temperatures.Lianping Wu Shuling Hu Wenshan Yu Shengping Shen Teng Li 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:0
13Bibliometric Review of Biodiversity Offsetting During 1992-2019显示文摘Biodiversity offsetting plays a crucial role in managing the impacts of development on natural habitats. Developers, conservation groups, governments and financial institutions have used biodiversity offsetting to design measurable conservation actions to compensate for significant residual adverse biodiversity impacts arising from development. However, the concepts and methodologies of biodiversity offsetting have rarely been systematically reviewed, and best practices are still lacking. This hinders the development and applications of this field, and makes it difficult for new researchers to learn, develop, and apply biodiversity offsetting. This paper aims to review research progress on biodiversity offsetting during the period of 1992 to 2019. We mainly used bibliometric analysis and social network analysis methods to expose the topic diversity, development and promotion of this research field, and assess collaboration among biodiversity offsetting scholars. Our research identified 1190 records, and revealed that the total number of publications increased rapidly since 2002. The most productive journal, country, and author were Biological Conservation, USA, and Dr. Maron M of University of Queensland, respectively. Co-author analysis identified that the 23 authors most relevant to biodiversity offsetting were involved in a collaboration network. And they were mainly from 30 countries in a collaboration network, and the authors from USA, Australia and the United Kingdom have the most cooperation, which mainly driven by policy related to biodiversity offsetting. Our review shows that biodiversity offsetting research is at an early stage of rapid development with topically diverse and collaborative science domains. The majority of studies focus on terrestrial environments, which makes the implementation of aquatic ecosystem is more difficult. 17Construction of 3D/2D indium vanadate /graphite carbon nitride with nitrogen defects Z-scheme heterojunction for improving photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction显示文摘Indium vanadate (InVO4 ) possesses excellent potential in photocatalytic carbon dioxide (CO_(2) ) reduction, but further modifications of reducing charge recombination and increasing active sites are still needed. Herein, InVO4 /g-C3 N4 (InVO-CN) heterojunction composite photocatalysts were prepared via in situ formation of InVO4 nanoparticles on the lamellar structure of graphite carbon nitride (g-C3 N4 ) containing nitrogen (N) defects. Among these composites, 30% InVO-CN showed the best photoreduction performance for CO_(2) at normal temperature and pressure without sacrificial agent (carbon monoxide, CO: 20.14 μmol g–1 h–1;methane, CH4 : 3.46 μmol g–1 h–1 ), which were 1.8 and 2.8 times higher than these of pure g-C3 N4 and InVO4 . The excellent performance could be attributed to the enhancement of CO_(2) adsorption, and most importantly, the enhanced charge carrier separation and reduction capacity induced by the formation of Z-scheme heterojunction between InVO4 and g-C3 N4 . 18Investigation of anisotropic strength criteria for layered rock mass显示文摘Layered rock mass is a type of engineering rock mass with sound mechanical anisotropy,which is generally unfavorable to the stability of underground works.To investigate the strength anisotropy of layered rock,the Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown criteria are introduced to establish the two transverse isotropic strength criteria based on Jaeger's single weak plane theory and maximum axial strain theory,and parameter determination methods.Furthermore,the sensitivity of strength parameters(K 1,K 2,and K 3)that are used to characterize the anisotropy strength of non-sliding failure involved in the strength criteria and confining pressure are investigated.The results demonstrate that strength parameters K 1 and K 2 affect the strength of layered rock samples at all bedding angles except for the bedding angle of 90°and the angle range that can cause the shear sliding failure along the bedding plane.The strength of samples at any bedding angle decreases with increasing K 1,whereas the opposite is for K 2.Except for bedding angles of 0°and 90°and the bedding angle range that can cause the shear sliding along the bedding plane,K 3 has an impact on the strength of rock samples with other bedding angles that the specimens'strength increases with increase of K 3.In addition,the strength of the rock sample increases as confining pressure rises.Furthermore,the uniaxial and triaxial tests of chlorite schist samples were carried out to verify and evaluate the strength criteria proposed in the paper.It shows that the predicted strength is in good agreement with the experimental results.To test the applicability of the strength criterion,the strength data of several types of rock in the literature are compared.Finally,a comparison is made between the fitting effects of the two strength criteria and other available criteria for layered rocks.Shuling Huang Jinxin Zhang Xiuli Ding Chuanqing Zhang Gang Han Guoqi Yu Lulu Qu 2024Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2024,16,4:0
