| 1 | 42,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. | 2 | Roles of Chemokine Receptor 4 (CXCR4) and Chemokine Ligand 12 (CXCL12) in Metastasis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells显示文摘Chemokines are involved in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) carcinogenesis. However, the exact mechanism of chemokines in HCC carcinogenesis remains unknown. Here we investigated the roles of chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) and chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12) in the metastasis of HCC. We found that the expression levels of CXCR4 mRNA in HCC tissues, MHCC97 cells, and HUVEC cells were 2.52 ± 1.13, 2.34 ± 1.16 and 1.63 ± 1.26, respectively and that the CXCR4 protein levels were 1.38 ± 0.13, 1.96 ± 0.32 and 1.86 ± 0.21, respectively. In contrast, CXCR4 was not detected in normal hepatic tissues. In 78 HCC patients, we also found that the concentration of CXCL12 in cancerous ascitic fluid was 783-8,364 pg/ml and that CXCL12 mRNA level in HCC metastasis portal lymph nodes was 1.21 ± 0.87 but undetectable in normal hepatic tissues. Finally we discovered that recombinant human CXCL12 could induce MHCC97 cells and HUVEC cells to migrate with chemotactic indexes (CI) of 3.9 ± 1.1 and 4.1 ± 1.6, respectively. Cancerous ascitic fluid could also induce the migration of MHCC97 cells with a CI of 1.9 ± 0.8. | 5 | Effects and mechanisms of berberine in diabetes treatment显示文摘Berberine from Rhizoma Coptidis is an oral hypoglycemic agent with anti-dyslipidemia and anti-obesity activities.Its metabolic activity of regulating blood glucose and lipids has been widely studied and evidenced in patients and various animal models.Berberine is known as an AMP-activated protein kinase(A MPK)activator.Its insulin-independent hypoglycemic effect is.related to inhibition of mitochondrial function,stimulation of glycolysis and activation of AMPK pathway.Additionally,berberine may also act as an x-glucosidase inhibitor.In the newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients,berberine is able to lower blood insulin level via enhancing insulin sensitivity.However,in patients with poorβ-cell function,berberine may improve insulin secretion via resuscitating exhausted islets.Furthermore,berberine may have extra beneficial effects on diabetic cardiovascular complications due to its cholesterol-lowering,anti arrhythmias and nitric oxide(NO)inducing properties.The antioxidant and aldose reductase inhibitory activities of berberine may be useful in alleviating dia betic nephropathy.Although evidence from animal and human studies consistently supports the therapeutic activities of berberine,large-scale multicenter trials are still necessary to evaluate the efficacy of berberine on diabetes and its related complications. | Jun Yin Jianping Ye Weiping Jia | 2012 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,4: | 5 |

| 7 | Efficacy of biofeedback therapy via a mini wireless device on sleep bruxism contrasted with occlusal splint:a pilot study显示文摘The putative causes of bruxism are multifactorial and there are no definite measures for bruxism management.The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of biofeedback therapy on sleep bruxism,compared with occlusal splint.Twenty-four volunteers with sleep bruxism were divided into two groups:the GTB group that were treated with biofeedback therapy(n 512) and the GTO group that were treated with occlusal splint(n 512).A mini pressure sensor integrated with a monitoring circuit by use of a maxillary biofeedback splint was fabricated.To foster the relaxation of the masticatory muscles and the nervous system,the wireless device received signals from bruxism events and vibrations alerted the bruxer when the threshold was exceeded.Total episodes and average duration of bruxism events during8 hours of sleep were analyzed with the monitoring program(TRMY1.0).After 6 and 12 weeks,the episodes(P 50.001) and duration(P,0.05) in the GTB group declined dramatically.In contrast,there were no significant differences in the GTO group after the treatment(P.0.05).Furthermore,the episodes had significant differences between the GTB group and the GTO group after the same period of treatment(P 5 0.000).The results suggest that biofeedback therapy may be an effective and convenient measure for mild bruxers,when compared with occlusal splint therapy.The mini wireless biofeedback method may be of value for the diagnosis and management of bruxism in the future. | WeiPing Gu Jie Yang FeiMin Zhang XinMin Yin XiaoLong Wei Chen Wang | 2015 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,2: | 4 |
| 8 | Expansion of the South China Sea basin:Constraints from magnetic anomaly stripes,sea floor topography,satellite gravity and submarine geothermics显示文摘The widely distributed E-W-trending magnetic anomaly stripes in the central basin and the N-Etrending magnetic anomaly stripes in the southwest sub-basin provide the most important evidence for Neogene expansion of the South China Sea.The expansion mechanism remains,however,controversial because of the lack of direct drilling data,non-systematic marine magnetic survey data,and irregular magnetic anomaly stripes with two obvious directions.For example,researchers have inferred different ages and episodes of expansion for the central basin and southwest sub-basin.Major controversy centers on the order of basinal expansion and the mechanism of expansion for the entire South China Sea basin.This study attempts to constrain these problems from a comprehensive analysis of the seafloor topography,magnetic anomaly stripes,regional aeromagnetic data,satellite gravity,and submarine geothermics.The mapped seafloor terrain shows that the central basin is a north-south rectangle that is relatively shallow with many seamounts,whereas the southwest sub-basin is wide in northeast,gradually narrows to the southwest,and is relatively deeper with fewer seamounts.Many magnetic anomaly stripes are present in the central basin with variable dimensions and directions that are dominantly EWtrending,followed by the NE-,NW- and NS-trending.Conversely such stripes are few in the southwest sub-basin and mainly NE-trending.Regional magnetic data suggest that the NW-trending Ailaoshan-Red River fault extends into the South China Sea,links with the central fault zone in the South China Sea,which extends further southward to Reed Tablemount.Satellite gravity data show that both the central basin and southwest sub-basin are composed of oceanic crust.The Changlong seamount is particularly visible in the southwest sub-basin and extends eastward to the Zhenbei seamount.Also a low gravity anomaly zone coincides with the central fault zone in the sub-basin.The submarine geothermic distribution demonstrates that the southwest sub-basin has a higher geothermal value than the central basin,and that the central fault zone is defined by a low thermal anomaly.This study suggests that NW-SE expansion of the southwest subbasin is later than the N-S expansion of the central basin with the sub-basin extending into the central basin and with both expansions ending at the same time.The expansion of southwestern sub-basin,similar to the Japanese Sea,is likely caused by left-lateral strike slip on the central fault zone in the South China Sea,which may have significance for finding oil and gas in this region. | Xuezhong Yu Chunji Xue Haigang Shi Weiping Zhu Yinghui Liu Hang Yin | 2017 | Geoscience Frontiers2017,8,1: | 3 |

| 18 | Rational construction of metal–base synergetic sites on Au/Mg-beta catalyst for selective aerobic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural显示文摘The selective aerobic oxidation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA, a potential renewable substitution of fossil-based terephthalic acid to produce polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate plastic) is an appealing transformation for constructing eco-friendly and sustainable chemical processes. Au supported catalysts have showed encouraging performances for this well-received conversion, whose catalytic behavior was greatly affected by the adopted support derived from the existence of metal-support interactions. Herein, a series of Mg-Beta zeolites were hydrothermally synthesized via developed structural reconstruction, which were employed as basic supports for Au catalysts to construct bifunctional catalysts. The relationship between structure (Au particle size, basicity within zeolites and Auδ+ contents) and FDCA yield was concretely established. The conclusion was made that the utilization of Mg-Beta zeolites with strong basicity as the support could not only improve the FDCA yield but also decrease the amount of additional base. Furthermore, the possible reaction mechanism was also proposed via tracking time-dependent variations of corresponding organics and controlled experiment.
