| 1 | Earth surface processes and their effects on human behavior in monsoonal China during the Pleistocene-Holocene epochs显示文摘There is a wide diversity of landforms in China.The topography of three major terraces,decreasing in height stepwise from west to east,was formed by the early Miocene.With the commencement of the Great Northern Hemisphere Glaciations(GHGs)and the glacial-interglacial cycles in the Pleistocene,thick loess deposits accumulated in north China,and fluvial terraces were formed and lakes expanded and contracted in eastern and central China.The earliest evidence of hominins in China is dated to ~1.7 Ma;they occupied the monsoon-dominated region for a long interval,until the late Pleistocene,~50 ka.In this study,we investigated a large area rich in the relics and artifacts of early man.The results indicate that the early humans occupied riverine areas,especially medium-sized fluvial basins,and lake shores.Even in the relatively recent geological past,the occupation and abandonment of settlements were directly forced by the shifting of sand dune fields in the desert-loess transitional zone,which in turn was closely associated with variations in the monsoon climate and vegetation patterns.Our observations indicate that landforms were one of the main determinants of early human behavior,in that loess tableland,large alluvial plains,desert-Gobi areas,and the Tibetan Plateau,were not suitable environments for early human settlement.We infer that the early humans in China adapted their behavior to specific landforms and landform processes.The monsoon climate,which shapes the large-scale step-like pattern of fluvial landforms,promotes vegetation coverage and dominates soil formation,provides a crucial context for early human adaptation.The adaptation of early humans to earth surface processes in East Asia is investigated for the first time in this study.Future investigations will provide further information that will increase our understanding of the linkage between early human behavior and landform processes in East Asia. | LU Huayu ZHUO Haixin ZHANG Wenchao WANG Shejiang ZHANG Hongyan SUN Xuefeng JIA Xin XU Zhiwei WANG Xianyan | 2017 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2017,27,11: | 12 |
| 2 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 3 | Improvement of oxytetracycline production mediated via cooperation of resistance genes in Streptomyces rimosus显示文摘Increasing the self-resistance levels of Streptomyces is an effective strategy to improve the production of antibiotics.To increase the oxytetracycline(OTC) production in Streptomyces rimosus,we investigated the cooperative effect of three co-overexpressing OTC resistance genes:one gene encodes a ribosomal protection protein(otrA) and the other two express efflux proteins(otrB and otrC).Results indicated that combinational overexpression of otrA,otrB,and otrC(MKABC) exerted a synergetic effect.OTC production increased by 179%in the recombinant strain compared with that of the wild-type strain M4018.The resistance level to OTC was increased by approximately two-fold relative to the parental strain,thereby indicating that applying the cooperative effect of self-resistance genes is useful to improve OTC production.Furthermore,the previously identified cluster-situated activator OtcR was overexpressed in MKABC in constructing the recombinant strain MKRABC;such strain can produce OTC of approximately7.49 g L^((-1)),which represents an increase of 19%in comparison with that of the OtcR-overexpressing strain alone.Our work showed that the cooperative overexpression of self-resistance genes is a promising strategy to enhance the antibiotics production in Streptomyces. | Shouliang Yin Xuefeng Wang Mingxin Shi Fang Yuan Huizhuan Wang Xiaole Jia Fang Yuan Jinliang Sun Tiejun Liu Keqian Yang Yuxiu Zhang Keqiang Fan Zilong Li | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,9: | 10 |
| 4 | Milling surface roughness for 7050 aluminum alloy cavity influenced by nozzle position of nanofluid minimum quantity lubrication显示文摘In nanofluid minimum quantity lubrication(NMQL)milling of aviation aluminum alloy,it is the bottleneck problem to adjust the position parameters(target distance,incidence angle,and elevation angle)of the nozzle to improve the surface roughness of milling,which has large and uncontrollable errors.In this paper,the influence law of milling cutter speed,helical angle,and cavity shape on the flow field around the milling cutter was studied,and the optimal nozzle profile parameters were obtained.Using 7050 aluminum alloy as the workpiece material,the milling experiment of the NMQL cavity was conducted by utilizing cottonseed oil-based Al2 O3 nanofluid.Results show that the high velocity of the surrounding air flow field and the strong gas barrier could be attributed to high rotating velocities of the milling cutter.The incidence angle of the nozzle was consistent with the helical angle of the milling cutter,the target distance was appropriate at 25–30 mm,and the elevation angle was suitable at 60°–65°.The range and variance analyses of the signal-to-noise ratio of milling force and roughness were performed,and the chip morphology was observed and analyzed.The results show that the optimal combination of nozzle position parameters was the target distance of 30 mm,the incidence angle of 35°,and the elevation angle of 60°.Among these parameters,target distance had the largest impact on cutting performance with a contribution rate of more than 55%,followed by incidence angle and elevation contribution rate.Analysis by orthogonal experiment revealed that the nozzle position parameters were appropriate,and Ra(0.087 lm)was reduced by 30.4%from the maximum value(0.125 lm).Moreover,Rsm(0.05 mm)was minimum,which was 36%lower than that of the seventh group(Rsm=0.078 mm). | Zhenjing DUAN Changhe LI Yanbin ZHANG Lan DONG Xiufang BAI Min YANG Dongzhou JIA Runze LI Huajun CAO Xuefeng XU | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,6: | 10 |

| 6 | Shape ratio effects on the mechanical characteristics of rectangular prism rocks and isolated pillars under uniaxial compression显示文摘Isolated pillars in underground mines are subjected to uniaxial stress,and the load bearing cross-section of pillars is commonly rectangularly shaped.In addition,the uniaxial compression test(UCT)is widely used for determining the basic mechanical properties of rocks and revealing the mechanism of isolated pillar disasters under unidimensional stress.The shape effects of rock mechanical properties under uniaxial compression are mainly quantitatively reflected in the specific shape ratios of rocks.Therefore,it is necessary to study the detailed shape ratio effects on the mechanical properties of rectangular prism rock specimens and isolated pillars under uniaxial compressive stress.In this study,granite,marble and sandstone rectangular prism specimens with various height to width ratios(r)and width to thickness ratios(u)were prepared and tested.The study results show that r and u have a great influence on the bearing ability of rocks,and thin or high rocks have lower uniaxial compressive strength.Reducing the level of r can enhance the u effect on the strength of rocks,and increasing the level of u can enhance the r effect on the strength of rocks.The lateral strain on the thickness side of the rock specimen is larger than that on the width side,which implies that crack growth occurs easily on the thickness side.Considering r and u,a novel strength prediction model of isolated pillars was proposed based on the testing results,and the prediction model was used for the safety assessment of 179 isolated pillars in the Xianglu Mountain Tungsten Mine. | Kun Du Xuefeng Li Rui Su Ming Tao Shizhan Lv Jia Luo Jian Zhou | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,2: | 5 |

The infected leaves were chlorotic, while sunken lesions formed on diseased branches, which were initially light brown and later turned dark brown. Moreover, diseased branches and leaves formed semi-buried, small, and spherical pycnidia. In total, 20 leaves and 19 branches diseased samples from Yichun, China were collected and examined. The fungus was isolated and identified using Koch's postulates, morphological characteristics and DNA sequence data. The data presented herein confirmed that the pathogen responsible for the disease was Sphaeropsis visci.
