1An 8.1Ma calcite record of Asian summer monsoon evolution on the Chinese central Loess Plateau显示文摘Carbonates in loess-red clay sequences consist mainly of calcite and dolomite. The EDTA analysis of carbonates in different size fractions and magnetic susceptibility reveal that calcite is a sensitive index of summer monsoon. The chemical analysis of carbonates and calcite from an 8.1 Ma loess-red clay sequence at Chaona on the Chinese central Loess Plateau shows that the evolution of the Asian summer monsoon experienced four stages, namely 8.1―5.5 Ma, 5.5―2.8 Ma, 2.8―1.5 Ma and 1.5―0 Ma, with increasing intensification and fluctuation, suggesting a possible combining impacts of uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and global changes on the Asian summer monsoon.CHEN XiuLing FANG XiaoMin AN ZhiSheng HAN WenXia WANG Xin BAI Yan HONG Ye 2007Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,3:16
2Branched alkanes with quaternary carbon atoms in Chinese soils: Potential environmental implications显示文摘Lipids extracted from 26 modern soils collected from different climate zones in China and Mongolia are analyzed using gas chromatography- mass spectrometry. These extracts contain pseudo- homologous families of 5,5-diethylalkanes (5,5- DEAs), 6,6-diethylalkanes, 5-butyl-5-ethylalkanes and 6-butyl-6-ethylalkanes, which are first detected in modern soils. All these pseudohomologous series display exclusively odd or exclusively even carbon numbers, clearly indicating a biosynthetic origin, and their carbon number distributions generally covary. The distributions of 5,5-DEAs exhibit strong regional variations, correlated with the spatial distributions of climate and vegetation. The lower molecular weight 5,5-DEAs, maximizing at C21 or C23, dominate in southeast and southwest China samples, while the higher molecular weight 5,5-DEAs with a mode at C29 dominate in cold, arid northwest China and Mongolia. 3Human endogenous retrovirus W env increases nitric oxide production and enhances the migration ability of microglia by regulating the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase显示文摘Human endogenous retrovirus W env(HERV-W env) plays a critical role in many neuropsychological diseases such as schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis(MS). These diseases are accompanied by immunological reactions in the central nervous system(CNS). Microglia are important immunocytes in brain inflammation that can produce a gasotransmitter – nitric oxide(NO). NO not only plays a role in the function of neuronal cells but also participates in the pathogenesis of various neuropsychological diseases. In this study, we reported increased NO production in CHME-5 microglia cells after they were transfected with HERV-W env. Moreover, HERV-W env increased the expression and function of human inducible nitric oxide synthase(hi NOS) and enhanced the promoter activity of hi NOS. Microglial migration was also enhanced. These data revealed that HERV-W env might contribute to increase NO production and microglial migration ability in neuropsychological disorders by regulating the expression of inducible NOS. 9Research of Microstructure,Phase,and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum-Dross-Based Porous Ceramics显示文摘In this study,the effect of sintering temperature and the addition of kaolin,a sintering agent,on the microscopic,phase,and mechanical properties of ceramics were investigated using secondary aluminum dross(SAD)as the main component in the manufacturing of ceramics.The basic phases of the ceramics were Al_(2)O_(3),MgAl_(2)O_(4),NaAl_(11)O_(17),and SiO_(2)without the addition of kaolin.The diffraction peaks of MgAl_(2)O_(4),NaAl_(11)O_(17),and SiO_(2)kept decreasing while those of Al_(2)O_(3)kept increasing with an increase in temperature.In addition,the increase in temperature promoted the growth of the grains.The grains were uniform in size and regular in distribution,with a shrinkage of 2.2%,porosity of 72.5%,bulk density of 1.076 g/cm^(3),and compressive strength of 1.12 MPa.When the sintering temperature was 1450°C,the basic phases of the ceramic after the addition of kaolin were Al_(2)O_(3),MgAl_(2)O_(4),NaAl_(11)O_(17),and SiO_(2).With the increase of kaolin,the diffraction peaks of NaAl_(11)O_(17)and SiO_(2)decreased until they disappeared,while the diffraction peaks of Al_(2)O_(3)increased significantly.When kaolin was added at 30 wt.%,the ceramics obtained had shrinkage of 18%,a porosity of 47.26%,a bulk density of 1.965 g/cm^(3),and compressive strength of 31.9 MPa.Cracks existed inside the ceramics without the addition of kaolin,while the addition of kaolin significantly changed this defect.It is shown that SAD can obtain porous ceramics with good properties at a sintering temperature of 1450°C and a kaolin addition of 30 wt.%.Liang Yu Yuan Liu Xiuling Cao Yulong Yan Chen Zhang Yanli Jiang 2023Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,7:0

11Electroacupuncture stimulating Zhongji(CV3),Guanyuan(CV4),and bilateral Dahe(KI12)attenuates inflammation in rats with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis induced by estradiol through inhibiting toll-like receptor 4 pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of electroacupuncture(EA)on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS),also known as chronic nonbacterial prostatitis(CNP),and explore its underlying mechanism.METHODS:A CNP rat was established by surgical castration combined with 17-βestradiol injection in male Sprague-Dawley rats for thirty consecutive days.The CNP rats received EA treatment once a day for eight days.Chronic pelvic pain was evaluated by mechanical withdrawal threshold measurement.The histological change was assessed by hematoxylin-eosin staining.The inflammatory cytokines in prostates were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.The expressions of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4),myeloid differentiation factor 88(MyD88),inhibitors of kappa-B alpha(IκBα),and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)were detected by Western blotting.The nuclear translocation of NF-κB and the location of TLR4 were observed with immunofluorescence staining.RESULTS:The results showed that EA decreased the prostate index,upregulated the mechanical withdrawal threshold,restored the histomorphology of the prostate,reduced the inflammatory factor levels,inhibited NF-κB p65 nuclear translocation,and downregulated the expression levels of critical proteins involved in the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in prostates.CONCLUSIONS:Our findings suggested that EA could relieve pelvic pain and attenuate prostatic inflammation in estradiol-induced CNP rats.The underlying mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.LI Zhihao HAN Wenjun SONG Xiuling LI Yan CHEN Yuelai 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,5:0
12Unraveling the synergetic mechanism of physisorption and chemisorption in laser-irradiated monolayer WS_(2)显示文摘To further improve the quantum efficiency of atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is crucial for the realization of high-performance optoelectronic applications. To this regard, a few chemical or physical approaches such as superacid treatment, electrical gating, dielectric screening, and laser irradiation have been developed. In particular, the laser irradiation appears to be a more efficient way with good processability and spatial selectivity. However, the underlying mechanism especially about whether chemisorption or physisorption plays a more important role is still debatable. Here, we unravel the mystery of laser irradiation induced photoluminescence enhancement in monolayer WS_(2) by precisely controlling irradiation time and environment. It is found that the synergetic effect of physisorption and chemisorption is responsible for the photoluminescence enhancement, where the physisorption dominates with more than 74% contribution. 13Treatment with β-sitosterol ameliorates the effects of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by suppressing cholesterol overload, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and apoptosis显示文摘β-Sitosterol is a type of phytosterol that occurs naturally in plants.Previous studies have shown that it has anti-oxidant,anti-hyperlipidemic,anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,and anti-tumor effects,but it is unknown whetherβ-sitosterol treatment reduces the effects of ischemic stroke.Here we found that,in a mouse model of ischemic stroke induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion,β-sitosterol reduced the volume of cerebral infarction and brain edema,reduced neuronal apoptosis in brain tissue,and alleviated neurological dysfunction;moreover,β-sitosterol increased the activity of oxygen-and glucose-deprived cerebral cortex neurons and reduced apoptosis.Further investigation showed that the neuroprotective effects ofβ-sitosterol may be related to inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress caused by intracellular cholesterol accumulation after ischemic stroke.In addition,β-sitosterol showed high affinity for NPC1L1,a key transporter of cholesterol,and antagonized its activity.In conclusion,β-sitosterol may help treat ischemic stroke by inhibiting neuronal intracellular cholesterol overload/endoplasmic reticulum stress/apoptosis signaling pathways.Xiuling Tang Tao Yan Saiying Wang Qingqing Liu Qi Yang Yongqiang Zhang Yujiao Li Yumei Wu Shuibing Liu Yulong Ma Le Yang 2024Neural Regeneration Research2024,19,3:0
14Risk factors for disease severity in COVID-19 patients: A single-center retrospective study显示文摘Background:The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has posed a huge threat to human health.However,little is known regarding the risk factors associated with COVID-19 severity.We aimed to explore early-stage disease risk factors associated with eventual disease severity.Methods:This study enrolled 486 hospitalized,non-intensive care unit(ICU)-admitted adult patients with COVID-19(age≥18 years)treated at Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital,who were divided into three groups according to disease severity.The demographic,clinical,and laboratory data at admission and clinical outcomes were compared among severity groups,and the risk factors for disease severity were identified by multiple regression analysis.Results:Of 486 patients with COVID-19,405(83.33%)were discharged,33(6.71%)died outside of the ICU,and 48(7.20%)were still being treated in the ICU by the time the study period ended.Significant differences in age,lymphocyte counts,and the levels of procalcitonin,aspartate aminotransferase,and D-dimer(P<0.001 for all)among the three groups.Further analysis showed that older age,decreased lymphocyte counts,and increased procalcitonin,aspartate aminotransferase,and D-dimer levels were significantly associated with disease progression.Conclusion:Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)may impair the immune system,the blood coagulation system,and hepatic and cardiac function.Some clinical characteristics and laboratory findings can help identify patients with a high risk of disease severity,which can be significant for appropriate resource allocation during the COVID-19 pandemic.Jingqing Xu Yanping Cai Min Li Qing Li Yingrui Zhang Ying Jiang Wanli Yan Xuemei Chen Hongxuan Zhang Zhaonan Zeng Fayang Lian Xiuling Shang Rongguo Yu 2021Journal of Intensive Medicine2021,1,2:0
15Electronic interaction and oxygen vacancy engineering of g-C_(3)N_(4)/α-Bi_(2)O_(3) Zscheme heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic aerobic oxidative homo-/hetero-coupling of amines to imines in aqueous phase显示文摘Photocatalytic oxidation coupling of amines represents a green and cost-effective method for the synthesis of highly value-added imines under visible light irradiation.However,the catalytic efficiency was severely limited by poor visible light response and easy recombination of photogenerated charge carriers.Herein,we report a g-CgN_(4)/α-Bi_(2)O_(3)Z-scheme heterojunction via electrostatic self-assembly of g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets and oxygen-va-cancy-rich aα-Bi_(2)O_(3)microsphere for visible-light driven oxidative coupling of amines to imines in H_(2)0 as green solvent at room temperature.Amines with diverse functional groups were efficiently converted into the corre-sponding imines in good to excellent yields.Impressively,this photocatalytic protocol is applicable for the challenging hetero-coupling of two structurally different amines to construct complicated asymmetric imines,which is the first report of photocatalytic hetero-coupling of amines to imines to our knowledge.Furthermore,the Z-scheme heterojunction also demonstrated high stability and could be readily separated and reused without obvious decay in activity and selectivity.Comprehensive characterizations and control experiments reveal the construction of Z-scheme heterojunction with intimate interface between g-CgN4 and a-Bi_(2)O_(3)greatly boosts the transfer and separation of photogenerated charge carries and enhances the redox capability.Meanwhile,the surface oxygen vacancies in a-Biz_(2)O_(3)also benefits the separation of photogenerated charge carriers and acti-vation of reactants.These jointly contributed to an enhanced photocatalytic performance for oxidative coupling of amines to imines.Yanhua Gao Tao Song Xiuling Guo Yan Zhang Yong Yang 2023Green Carbon2023,1,2:0
16Sporolactobacillus GD201215-the Reason forSwelling of Fruit Jelly显示文摘A gram-positive facultatively anaerobic bacterium, named Sporolactobacillus GD201215, was isolated from swollen fruit jelly. Colonies were circular, bulgy, opaque, moist and white, with a 1-2 mm diameter. Its sequence showed 97.46% and96.91% homology with Sporolactobacillus vineae SL153 T and S. putidus QC81-06 T, respectively. Sporolactobacillus GD201215 uses glucose, fructose and sucrose to produce acid, and metabolizes sodium citrate to generate CO_2 which is responsible for swelling of fruit jelly.
