2Sensitivity-enhanced surface plasmon resonance sensor utilizing a tungsten disulfide (WS_2) nanosheets overlayer显示文摘Tungsten disulfide(WS_2), as a representative layered transition metal dichalcogenide(TMDC) material, possesses important potential for applications in highly sensitive sensors. Here, a sensitivity-enhanced surface plasmon resonance(SPR) sensor with a metal film modified by an overlayer of WS_2 nanosheets is proposed and demonstrated. The SPR sensitivity is related to the thickness of the WS_2 overlayer, which can be tailored by coating a WS_2 ethanol suspension with different concentrations or by the number of times of repeated post-coating.Benefitting from its large surface area, high refractive index, and unique optoelectronic properties, the WS_2 nanosheet overlayer coated on the gold film significantly improves the sensing sensitivity. The highest sensitivity(up to 2459.3 nm∕RIU) in the experiment is achieved by coating the WS_2 suspension once. Compared to the case without a WS_2 overlayer, this result shows a sensitivity enhancement of 26.6%. The influence of the WS_2 nanosheet overlayer on the sensing performance improvement is analyzed and discussed. Moreover, the proposed WS_2 SPR sensor has a linear correlation coefficient of 99.76% in refractive index range of 1.333 to 1.360. 3INTERCROPPING:FEED MORE PEOPLE AND BUILD MORE SUSTAINABLE AGROECOSYSTEMS显示文摘Intercropping is a traditional farming system that increases crop diversity to strengthen agroecosystem functions while decreasing chemical inputs and minimizing negative environmental effects of crop production.Intercropping is currently considerable interest because of its importance in sustainable agriculture.Here,we synthesize the factors that make intercropping a sustainable means of food production by integrating biodiversity of natural ecosystems and crop diversity.In addition to well-known yield increases,intercropping can also increase yield stability over the long term and increase systemic resistance to plant diseases,pests and other unfavorable factors(e.g.,nutrient deficiencies).The efficient use of resources can save mineral fertilizer inputs,reduce environmental pollution risks and greenhouse gas emissions caused by agriculture,thus mitigating global climate change.Intercropping potentially increases above-and belowground biodiversity of various taxa at field scale,consequently it enhances ecosystem services.Complementarity and selection effects allow a better understanding the mechanisms behind enhanced ecosystem functioning.The development of mechanization is essential for largescale application of intercropping.Agroecosystem multifunctionality and soil health should be priority topics in future research on intercropping.Hao YANG Weiping ZHANG Long LI 2021Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2021,8,3:5
4The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. 6Controlled release of hydrogen by implantation of magnesium induces P53-mediated tumor cells apoptosis显示文摘Hydrogen has been used to suppress tumor growth with considerable efficacy.Inhalation of hydrogen gas and oral ingestion of hydrogen-rich saline are two common systemic routes of hydrogen administration.We have developed a topical delivery method of hydrogen at targeted sites through the degradation of magnesium-based biomaterials.However,the underlying mechanism of hydrogen’s role in cancer treatment remains ambiguous.Here,we investigate the mechanism of tumor cell apoptosis triggered by the hydrogen released from magnesium-based biomaterials.We find that the localized release of hydrogen increases the expression level of P53 tumor suppressor proteins,as demonstrated by the in vitro RNA sequencing and protein expression analysis.Then,the P53 proteins disrupt the membrane potential of mitochondria,activate autophagy,suppress the reactive oxygen species in cancer cells,and finally result in tumor suppression.The anti-tumor efficacy of magnesium-based biomaterials is further validated in vivo by inserting magnesium wire into the subcutaneous tumor in a mouse.We also discovered that the minimal hydrogen concentration from magnesium wires to trigger substantial tumor apoptosis is 91.2μL/mm^(3)per day,which is much lower than that required for hydrogen inhalation.Taken together,these findings reveal the release of H2 from magnesium-based biomaterial exerts its anti-tumoral activity by activating the P53-mediated lysosome-mitochondria apoptosis signaling pathway,which strengthens the therapeutic potential of this biomaterial as localized anti-tumor treatment.Rui Zan Hao Wang Weijie Cai Jiahua Ni Berengere J.C.Luthringer-Feyerabend Wenhui Wang Hongzhou Peng Weiping Ji Jun Yan Jiazeng Xia Yang Song Xiaonong Zhang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,3:3
7Microstructure and Mechanical Behavior of FeNiCoCr and FeNiCoCrMn High-Entropy Alloys Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy显示文摘The present work reports a systematic investigation on phase evolution,microstructure and microstructure-property relationship of two typical face-centered cubic(FCC)structured high-entropy alloys(HEAs),FeNiCoCr and FeNiCoCrMn,prepared via mechanical alloying(MA)followed by spark plasma sintering(SPS).Following 50 h of MA,the two HEAs consisted of a mixture of FCC and body-centered cubic phases.Following SPS,the bulk FeNiCoCr alloy showed a primary FCC phase with a small amount of Cr_(23)C_(6) and Cr_(2)O_(3) contaminants,while the bulk FeNiCoCrMn alloy was composed of a primary FCC phase with some(Cr,Mn)23C6 and MnCr_(2)O_(4) contaminants.The average grain size of the primary FCC phase in the bulk FeNiCoCr alloy was~416 nm,while that of the primary FCC phase in the bulk FeNiCoCrMn alloy was~547 nm.The yield strength,compressive strength and strain-to-failure of the bulk FeNiCoCr alloy are 1525 MPa,1987 MPa and 24.4%,respectively,whereas those of the bulk FeNiCoCrMn alloy are 1329 MPa,1761 MPa and 21.9%,respectively.It suggests that the bulk FeNiCoCrMn exhibited lower strength and plasticity in comparison with the bulk FeNiCoCr alloy.Clearly,the smaller grain size of the primary FCC phase in the FeNiCoCr alloy is mainly responsible for the better mechanical performance.Chenliang Chu Weiping Chen Zhen Chen Zhenfei Jiang Hao Wang Zhiqiang Fu 2021Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,4:3

9Potassium 2-(1-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate improves depressive-like behaviors in rat model显示文摘Potassium 2-(1-hydroxypentyl)-benzoate(PHPB) is a novel drug candidate for acute ischemic stroke. PHPB has been also shown to be beneficial for some neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, we demonstrated that PHPB improved depressive-like behaviors induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS) in rats. Male SD rats were subjected to the stress for five weeks. PHPB(30 and 100 mg/kg) or fluoxetine(FLX 10 mg/kg, as positive control) was administered orally from the third week in CUMS procedure. The behavioral tests were applied and then the biochemical studies were carried out. PHPB or FLX treatment rescued the behavioral deficiency in CUMS-exposed rats. Meanwhile, PHPB normalized the enhanced level of serum corticosterone, improved hippocampal and serum BDNF levels, as well as p-CREB level in hippocampus. In addition, PHPB could reverse the reduced level of extracellular 5-HT and its metabolite 5-HIAA in prefrontal cortex(PFC) of depressed rats. In summary, our results showed that PHPB improved depression-like behaviors in CUMS-exposed rats. 10Preparation of Ti-based Yb-doped SnO_(2)-RuO_(2) electrode and electrochemical oxidation treatment of coking wastewater显示文摘In this study,the Ti/SnO_(2)-RuO_(2) electrodes with different Yb contents were prepared by sol-gel method and thermal decomposition method,and the surface morphology and crystal structure of the electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),atomic force microscopy(AFM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD),the electrochemical properties of the electrodes were tested by linear sweep voltammetry(LSV) and cyclic voltammetry(CV).The electrochemical oxidation device was constructed with Yb-doped Ti/SnO_(2)-RuO_(2) electrode as the anode and titanium plate as the cathode,and the electrochemical oxidation effect and product changes of the anode on co king wastewater were investigated.The results show that the surface of the electrode is flat with high crystallinity of SnO_(2) and RuO_(2) crystals at1.5% Yb doping,and the LSV and CV curves indicate that the Yb doping of 1.5% increases the oxygen precipitation potential and electrocatalytic oxidation activity of the electrode.When the electrode with Yb doping of 1.5% is the anode with current density of 10 mA/cm^(2) electrochemical oxidation time of 30 min,the electrode can remove chemical oxygen demand(COD) up to 85.06%,total organic carbon(TOC) up to 60.59% and UV_(254) from 1.594 to 0.507 for coking wastewater.Gas chromatography(GC-MS),UV-vis and three-dimensional fluorescence results of coking wastewater before and after treatment show that large toxic substances in coking wastewater are degraded to low toxic organic substances,and most soluble organic substances are degraded and transformed.This study provides the possibility of basic research for the engineering practice of electrochemical oxidation for the treatment of coking wastewater.Weida Wang Ke Wang Wenting Hao Tingting Zhang Yijie Liu Linghong Yu Weiping Li 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,5:2

18Energy partitioning and evapotranspiration in a black locust plantation on the Yellow River Delta,China显示文摘Plantations of woody tree species play a crucial role in ecological security along coastal zones.Understanding energy partitioning and evapotranspiration can reveal land–atmosphere interaction processes.We investigated energy fluxes,evapotranspiration,and their related biophysical factors using eddy covariance techniques in a black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia L.)plantation in 2016,2018,and 2019 on the Yellow River Delta.Downward longwave radiation offsets 84–85%of upward longwave radiation;upward shortwave radiation accounted for 12–13%of downward shortwave radiation.The ratio of net radiation to downward radiation was 18–19%over the three years.During the growing season,latent heat flux was the largest component of net radiation;during the dormant season,the sensible heat flux was the dominant component of net radiation.The seasonal variation in daily evapotranspiration was mainly controlled by net radiation,air temperature,vapor pressure deficit,and leaf area index.Black locust phenology influenced daily evapotranspiration variations,and evapotranspiration was greater under sea winds than under land winds because soil water content at 10-cm depth was greater under sea winds during the day.Seasonal patterns of daily evaporative fraction,Bowen ratio,crop coefficient,Priestley–Taylor coefficient,surface conductance,and decoupling coefficient were mainly controlled by leaf area index.The threshold value of daily surface conductance was approximately 8 mm sover the plantation.Xiang Gao Zhenyu Du Qingshan Yang Jinsong Zhang Yongtao Li Xiaojie Wang Fengxue Gu Weiping Hao Zekun Yang Dexi Liu Jianmin Chu 2022Journal of Forestry Research2022,33,4:1

20Effect of p53 on lung carcinoma cells irradiated by carbon ions or X-rays显示文摘The study is to investigate the feasibility and advantages of heavy ion beams on radiotherapy. The cellular cycle and apoptosis, cell reproductive death and p53 expression evaluated with flow cytometry, clonogenic survival assays and Western blot analysis were examined in lung carcinoma cells after exposure to 89.63 MeV/u carbon ion and 6 MV X-ray irradiations, respectively. The results showed that the number colonyforming assay of A549 was higher than that of H1299 cells in two radiation groups; A549 cellular cycle was arrested in G2/M in 12 h and the percentage of apoptosis ascended at each time point of carbon ion radiation with doses, the expression of p53 upregulated with doses exposed to X-ray or carbon ion. The cell number in G2/M of H1299 and apoptosis were increasing at all time points with doses in 12C6+ ion irradiation group. The results suggested that the effects of carbon ions or X rays irradiation on lung carcinoma cells were different, 12C6+ ion irradiation could have more effect on upregulating the expression of p53 than X-ray, and the upregulated expression of p53 might produce the cellular cycle G2/M arrested, apoptosis increasing; and p53 gene might affect the lung cancer cells radiosensitivity.XIE Yi ZHANG Hong HAO Jifang ZHAO Weiping WU Zhenhua QIU Rong WANG Xiaohu 2009Nuclear Science and Techniques2009,20,3:1
