1Development and distribution of geohazards triggered by the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake in China显示文摘As the Wenchuan Earthquake was of high magnitude and shallow seismic focus, it caused great dam- age and serious geohazards. By the field investigation and the interpretation of remote-sensing infor- mation after the earthquake and by using means of GIS technology, the distribution of geohazards triggered by the earthquake are analyzed and the conclusions are as follows: (1) The earthquake geo- hazards showed the feature of zonal distribution along the earthquake fault zone and linear distribution along the rivers; (2) the distribution of earthquake geohazards had a marked hanging wall effect, for the development density of geohazards in the hanging wall of earthquake fault zone was obviously higher than that in the foot wall and the width of strong development zone in the hanging wall was about 10 km; (3) the topographical slope was a main factor which controlled the development of earthquake geo- hazards and a vast majority of hazards were distributed on the slopes of 20° to 50°; (4) the earthquake geohazards had a corresponding relationship with the elevation and micro-landform, for most hazards happened in the river valleys and canyon sections below the elevation of 1500 to 2000 m, particularly in the upper segment of canyon sections (namely, the turning point from the dale to the canyon). Thin ridge, isolated or full-face space mountains were most sensitive to the seismic wave, and had a striking amplifying effect. 2Spatial Distribution of Large-scale Landslides Induced by the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘The 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008 induced hundreds of large-scale landslides. This paper systematically analyzes 112 large-scale landslides (surface area > 50000 m2), which were identified by interpretation of remote sensing imagery and field investigations. The analysis suggests that the distribution of large-scale landslides is affected by the following four factors: (a) distance effect: 80% of studied large-scale landslides are located within a distance of 5 km from the seismic faults. The farther the distance to the faults, the lower the number of large-scale landslides; (b) locked segment effect: the large-scale landslides are mainly located in five concentration zones closely related with the crossing, staggering and transfer sections between one seismic fault section and the next one, as well as the end of the NE fault section. The zone with the highest concentration was the Hongbai-Chaping segment, where a great number of large-scale landslides including the two largest landslides were located. The second highest concentration of large-scale landslides was observed in the Nanba-Donghekou segment at the end of NE fault, where the Donghekou landslide and the Woqian landslide occurred; (c) Hanging wall effect: about 70% of the large-scale landslides occurred on the hanging wall of the seismic faults; and (d) direction effect: in valleys perpendicular to the seismic faults, the density of large-scale landslides on the slopes facing the seismic wave is obviously higher than that on the slopes dipping in the same direction as the direction of propagation of the seismic wave. Meanwhile, it is found that the sliding and moving directions of large-scale landslides are related to the staggering direction of the faults in each section. 3Formation,distribution and risk control of landslides in China显示文摘China is a country with a large population as well as frequent landslides. The formation and distribution of landslides in China are determined by its special topography, complex geological environment, active earthquake environment and unusual climate features. This paper analyzes the main features and distribution of 200 catastrophic landslides that occurred in China since 1900. The relationships among the distribution of landslides and topographic conditions, geological structure, climate features and strong earthquake environment are analyzed. The features of landslide-triggering factors and critical conditions in different areas have also been considered. Based on the above-mentioned work, the authors have undertaken the studies of landslide susceptibility assessment. The study is performed according to the topographic and geological features, which are the main triggering factors that affect the landslides. The China's Mainland can be divided into 12 zones, including 4 high susceptibility zones, 7 medium susceptibility zones and 1 low susceptibility zone, according to landslide proneness. Considering the number of life loss and extent of property loss caused by landslides in those 12 zones, the risk evaluation results are listed as follows: 2 extremely high-risk zones, 5 high-risk zones, 2 medium-risk zones and 3 low-risk zones. Taking the number of life loss caused by landslides as the standard of risk level, the paper also analyzes the change in landslide risk level and main risk control measures in China since 1990s. 4Geohazard Recognition and Inventory Mapping Using Airborne LiDAR Data in Complex Mountainous Areas显示文摘Geohazard recognition and inventory mapping are absolutely the keys to the establishment of reliable susceptibility and hazard maps. However, it has been challenging to implement geohazards recognition and inventory mapping in mountainous areas with complex topography and vegetation cover. Progress in the light detection and ranging(Li DAR) technology provides a new possibility for geohazard recognition in such areas. Specifically, this study aims to evaluate the performances of the Li DAR technology in recognizing geohazard in the mountainous areas of Southwest China through visually analyzing airborne Li DAR DEM derivatives. Quasi-3 D relief image maps are generated based on the sky-view factor(SVF), which makes it feasible to interpret precisely the features of geohazard. A total of 146 geohazards are remotely mapped in the entire 135 km^(2) study area in Danba County, Southwest China, and classified as landslide, rock fall, debris flow based on morphologic characteristics interpreted from SVF visualization maps. Field validation indicate the success rate of Li DAR-derived DEM in recognition and mapping geohazard with higher precision and accuracy. These mapped geohazards lie along both sides of the river, and their spatial distributions are related highly to human engineering activities, such as road excavation and slope cutting. The minimum geohazard that can be recognized in the 0.5 m resolution DEM is about 900 m^(2). Meanwhile, the SVF visualization method is demonstrated to be a great alternative to the classical hillshaded DEM method when it comes to the determination of geomorphological properties of geohazard. 6Effect of CeO_2 preparation method and Cu loading on CuO/CeO_2 catalysts for methane combustion显示文摘CeO2 was synthesized by sol-gel,hydrothermal,nitrate thermal decomposition methods,respectively,and used as support to prepare CuO/CeO2 catalysts. According to characterization and reaction results,preparation method of CeO2 had a great influence on the physicochemical properties and activities of CuO/CeO2 catalysts. CuO with high dispersion and strong interaction with CeO2 was highly active in methane combustion,while CuO particles less associated with CeO2 showed less activity. The CuO catalyst supported on CeO2 which was prepared via nitrate thermal decomposition method showed the largest area,the smallest particle size,the highest dispersion of copper species and strong support metal interactions. Therefore,it presented the highest redox ability and activity for methane combustion. Activities of the catalysts with different copper content kept increasing until 5% Cu loading and from then on kept constant. Moreover,methane conversion decreased as methane space velocities increased on CuO/CeO2 catalyst. 8Active Landslide Detection Based on Sentinel-1 Data and InSAR Technology in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province, Northwest China显示文摘Zhouqu County in Gansu Province, Northwest China, is typically highly prone to landslides. On July 12, 2018, a landslide blocked the Bailong River near Zhouqu County, posing a serious threat to the life and property of local residents and the safety of infrastructure. Small baseline subset interferometry synthetic aperture radar technology(SBAS-In SAR) was adopted to identify the potential active landslides in the surrounding area of Zhouqu County, using ascending and descending orbit Sentinel-1 satellite images taken from October 2017 to December 2018. The surface deformation areas detected by SBAS-In SAR were verified by optical remote sensing image interpretation and field investigation, and a total of 23 active landslides were identified finally. The deformation characteristics of four typical landslides are analysed in detail using deformation velocity and rainfall data. It is found that the deformation velocity of landslides in this area is mainly affected by rainfall and there is a lag effect. 9Polymer coated nanodiamonds as gemcitabine prodrug with enzymatic sensitivity for pancreatic cancer treatment显示文摘The fabrication of Gemcitabine(GEM) prodrug was reported to be an effective method to enhance its pancreatic cancer treatment efficiency. Here, a kind of nanocarbon-based materials, nanodiamond(ND), was selected as the nanocarrier of GEM, owing to its outstanding surface properties and non-cytotoxicity. The polyelectrolytes,polyethyleneimine and polyacrylic acid, were used to self-assemble outside ND surface through electrostatic forces, followed by attachment of polyethylene glycol to address better biocompatibility. GEM was conjugated with an enzyme-sensitive peptide gly-phe-leu-gly to build up the controlled release platform. From characterization results of dynamic laser scattering, zeta potential and transmission electron microscope, the significant improvement of ND stability in physiological condition was proved. Non-cytotoxicity of this functionalized ND carriers and cytotoxicity of the prodrug against Bx PC-3 pancreatic cancer cells were indicated by methylthiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay. In vivo experiments also revealed its superior anticancer effect compared with free GEM treatment. 10Diagnosis and treatment of infantile malignant solid tumors in Beijing,China:A multicenter 10-year retrospective study显示文摘Importance:Cancer is the main cause of death by disease in children.Children experience the highest incidence of cancer in the first year of life.However,there is no comprehensive registration system for children with tumors in China.Objective:To summarize the diagnosis and treatment of infant cancer and analyze the status of standardized diagnosis and management among several treatment centers in Beijing,China,thereby providing evidence to guide further clinical research.Methods:From January 1,2010 to December 31,2019,patients with newly diagnosed infantile malignant solid tumors were admitted to six large tertiary pediatric solid tumor diagnosis and treatment centers in Beijing.The epidemiology,clinical features,and therapeutic effects of tumors in these patients were analyzed retrospectively.All patients were followed up until March 31,2020.Results:In total,938 patients were enrolled in this study.There were 530 boys(56.5%)and 408 girls(43.5%);the median age was 6.0 months(range,0-12.0 months).The three most common tumors were retinoblastoma in 366 patients(39.0%),neuroblastoma in 266 patients(28.4%),hepatoblastoma in 133 patients(14.2%),and central nervous system tumors in 52 patients(5.5%).The estimated 5-year overall survival rate was 81.3%±1.8%,and the 5-year event-free survival rate was 71.8%±2.9%.The 5-year overall survival rates of non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma,neuroblastoma,and retinoblastoma were 100%,88%±2.2%,and 86.9%±2.1%,respectively.The 5-year event-free survival rates were 81.1%±2.7%for neuroblastoma,81.6%±9.8%for non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma,and 72.7%±14.1%for extracranial malignant germ cell tumors.Interpretation:The three most common infantile malignant solid tumors were retinoblastoma,neuroblastoma,and hepatoblastoma.Multidisciplinary combined diagnosis and treatment is needed for infantile tumors.Mei Jin Zhi Tian Yao Xie Zhaoxia Zhang Miao Li YaxiongYu Weiling Zhang Junyang Zhao Huanmin Wang Qi Zeng Long Li Ming Ge Ning Sun Xiaolun Zhang Jian Gong Wanshui Wu Rong Liu Weihong Zhao Dongsheng Huang Xiaoli Ma 2020Pediatric Investigation2020,4,3:3
11A prototype RF power source for CSNS/RCS显示文摘A prototype RF power source has been built to supply high RF power to a ferrite-loaded cavity, which is a part of R&D of the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS/RCS). A direct fast RF feedback amplifier, a 4:1 impedance transformer and auto tuning grid were locally located to compensate the heavy beam loading of CSNS/RCS. 13Enhancement of cooperation between file systems and applications — VFS extensions for optimized performance显示文摘Modern operating systems incorporate an abstract layer called Virtual File System(VFS), which is positioned between user applications and real file systems to hide the differences of various file systems and to expose generic application interfaces for requesting file system services. However, VFS sometimes does not give applications an opportunity to pass information to file systems to help them make correct optimization decisions. In this paper, we review the Linux VFS, discuss its deficiencies and propose several extensions to allow applications to cooperate with the file systems more efficiently. We introduce simple prefetching interfaces and advisory flags to allow applications to communicate application-related semantics to VFS and/or the underlying file systems. These suggestions, which neither affect the semantics of applications nor modify their programming models, not only lead to simple VFS/file systems but also guide them to make correct performance-related decisions, if required. 15Spatiotemporal Changes of Vegetation Cover in Response to Climate Change on the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau is one of the most important ecological barriers in China. Resolving the internal relations and dynamics ruling the association between regional vegetation and climate change is important to understand and protect the regional ecosystems. Based on vegetation, temperature and precipitation data of the Tibetan Plateau from 2001 to 2010, we analyze the spatial and temporal variations of vegetation cover over the past 10 years and discuss the vegetation response to climate change using empirical orthogonal function and singular value decomposition. 16REDUCING THE PEAK-TO-AVERAGE POWER RATIO OF OFDM SYSTEM WITH LOW COMPLEXITY显示文摘This paper proposes a companding scheme, where small signals are enlarged and large signals are reduced, to reduce the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio(PAPR). Computer simulation results show that the proposed technique has two advantages at least when compared with the conventional methods such as partial transmit sequence, selective mapping and the previous companding. First, it gets better PAPR performances with a lower complexity. 17Rational integration of defense and repair synergy on PEEK osteoimplants via biomimetic peptide clicking strategy显示文摘Polyetheretherketone(PEEK)has been widely used as orthopedic and dental materials due to excellent mechanical and physicochemical tolerance.However,its biological inertness,poor osteoinduction,and weak antibacterial activity make the clinical applications in a dilemma.Inspired by the mussel adhesion mechanism,here we reported a biomimetic surface strategy for rational integration and optimization of anti-infectivity and osteo-inductivity onto PEEK surfaces using a mussel foot proteins(Mfps)-mimic peptide with clickable azido terminal.The peptide enables mussel-like adhesion on PEEK biomaterial surfaces,leaving azido groups for the further steps of biofunctionalizations.In this study,antimicrobial peptide(AMP)and osteogenic growth peptide(OGP)were bioorthogonally clicked on the azido-modified PEEK biomaterials to obtain a dual-effect of host defense and tissue repair.Since bioorthogonal clicking allows precise collocation between AMP and OGP through changing their feeding molar ratios,an optimal PEEK surface was finally obtained in this research,which could long-term inhibit bacterial growth,stabilize bone homeostasis and facilitate interfacial bone regeneration.In a word,this upgraded mussel surface strategy proposed in this study is promising for the surface bioengineering of inert medical implants,in particular,achieving rational integration of multiple biofunctions to match clinical requirements.Meng Li Jiaxiang Bai Huaqiang Tao Li Hao Weiling Yin Xiaoxue Ren Ang Gao Ning Li Miao Wang Shiyuan Fang Yaozeng Xu Liang Chen Huilin Yang Huaiyu Wang Guoqing Pan Dechun Geng 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:2

19A Comparative Study of Supervised Classification Methods for Investigating Landslide Evolution in the Mianyuan River Basin,China显示文摘The Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake of 2008 dramatically changed the terrain surface and caused long-term increases in the scale and frequency of landslides and debris flows.The changing trend of landslides in the earthquake-affected area over the decade since the earthquake remains largely unknown.In this study,we were able to address this issue using supervised classification methods and multitemporal remote sensing images to study landslide evolution in the worst-affected area(Mianyuan River Basin)over a period of ten years.Satellite images were processed using the maximum likelihood method and random forest algorithm to automatically map landslide occurrence from 2007 to 2018.The principal findings are as follows:(1)when compared with visual image analysis,the random forest algorithm had a good average accuracy rate of 87%for landslide identification;(2)postevent landslide occurrence has generally decreased with time,but heavy monsoonal seasons have caused temporary spikes in activity;and(3)the postearthquake landslide activity in the Mianyuan River Basin can be divided into a strong activity period(2008 to 2011),medium activity period(2012 to 2016),and weak activity period(post 2017).Landslide activity remains above the prequake level,with damaging events being rare but continuing to occur.Long-term remote sensing and on-site monitoring are required to understand the evolution of landslide activity after strong earthquakes.Yujie Long Weile Li Runqiu Huang Qiang Xu Bin Yu Gang Liu 2023Journal of Earth Science2023,34,2:2
