1A Modified Plate Assay for Rapid Screening of Potassium-Solubilizing Bacteria显示文摘The utility of microorganisms for solubilizing the unavailable forms of potassium(K) from soil has led to renewed interest in fabrication of rapid and sensitive plate assays for their isolation and screening. The present study developed a modified plate assay and compared it with previously reported methods for the isolation and screening of K-solubilizing bacteria. The newly developed plate assay is based on improved visualization of halo zone formation around the colonies on agar plates, through inclusion of an acid-base indicator dye, bromothymol blue(BTB), to modify the previously reported Aleksandrov medium. The halo zone exhibited a significant correlation(R = 0.939) with K released in liquid medium. The visualization of potential K solubilizers was improved using this method, which would help in detection of weak/non-acid producers based on secretion of organic acids in the medium. Organic acids in plate diffuse radially and form halo zones in response to reaction with the acid-base indicator dye BTB. Furthermore, K solubilization on plates with this method can be observed within 48–72 h, against the incubation time of 4–5 d needed in the earlier method. 3Nd-doped ZnO as a multifunctional nanomaterial显示文摘Chemically synthesised ZnO and Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles were investigated for structural, optical, magnetic properties along with photocatalytic activity. Transmission electron microscopy measurement was performed on the undoped and doped ZnO nanoparticles. Compared to the undoped ZnO, Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles showed enhanced photoluminescent and ferromagnetic properties. The Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles also showed improved photocatalytic properties compared with the undoped ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the effect of UV light irradiation was studied with thermoluminescence (TL) and photoluminescence (PL) measurement techniques. It was found that in case of Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles TL intensity increased while the green emission in PL spectra decreased with UV-light irradiation. 4Tween 80 containing lipid nanoemulsions for delivery of indinavir to brain显示文摘Indinavir is a protease inhibitor used in the treatment of HIV infection.However,it has limited efficacy in eradicating the virus in the brain due to efflux by P-glycoprotein(P-gp)expressed at the blood–brain barrier(BBB).The objective of this work was to develop an o/w lipid nanoemulsion(LNE)of indinavir using Tween 80 as co-emulsifier to improve its brain specific delivery.LNEs were prepared with different compositions and were characterized for globule size,polydispersity index,zeta potential and in vitro drug release.Five formulations were then evaluated for drug content,entrapment efficiency and stability after which brain uptake studies were carried out using fluorescent labeled LNEs and pharmacokinetic(PK)and tissue distribution studies were conducted after intravenous administration in mice.Brain uptake of indinavir was shown to be improved for a 1%Tween 80 containing formulation(F5)compared to a formulation containing 0.3%cholesterol(F2).In PK studies,the brain level of indinavir subsequent to administration of F5 was significantly(Po0.05)higher than produced by administration of a drug solution(2.44-fold)or a control nanoemulsion(F1)(1.48-fold)or formulation F2(1.6-fold).The increased brain specific accumulation of indinavir from F5 is probably due to enhanced low density lipoprotein-mediated endocytosis and P-gp inhibition by Tween 80 at the BBB.These results suggest Tween 80 containing LNEs could provide a simple but effective means of delivering indinavir to brain.Kandadi Prabhakar Syed Muzammil Afzal Goparaboina Surender Veerabrahma Kishan 2013Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2013,3,5:2

10Influence of rooftop telecommunication tower on set back-step back building resting on different ground slopes显示文摘In the hilly region due to scarcity of the plain area, buildings like set back-step back are more often used and also as a big surge in the telecommunication industries, rooftop tower adaptation is very common story nowadays. In the present study an analogy has been drawn to find out the influence of the rooftop telecommunication tower on the setback-step back building resting on ground at 20° and 30° slopes.
