| 1 | Incretin manipulation in diabetes management显示文摘Incretin-based therapies have revolutionized the medical management of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) in the 21 st century. Glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1) suppresses appetite and gastric motility, and has trophic effects on pancreas, cardio-protective and renal effects. GLP-1 analogues and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors form the incretin-based therapies. Significant reduction of hemoglobin A1 c when used as monotherapy and in combination regimens, favorable effects on body weight, and low risk of hypoglycemia are their unique therapeutic benefits. Their safety and tolerability are comparable to other anti-diabetic medications. Concern about elevated risk of pancreatitis has been discarded by two recent meta-analyses. | 2 | Analysis of chemical composition and bioactive property evaluation of Indian propolis显示文摘Objective:To analyze the chemical composition and to evaluate the bioactive potential of hydroalocoholic extract of propolis.Methods:Ethanol extract of propolis was analyzed by GCMS,HPTLC and HPLC methods and in vitro antioxidant,anticholinesterase and cytotoxicity assay were performed.Remits:GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of fatty acids,alcohols, and quercetin.Quercetin was identified and quantified by HPTLC and HPLC methods.Dose dependent DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity of hydroalcoholic extract of propolis was calculated as 16.20 and 34.33 μg/mL respectively.Inhibition of lipid peroxidation was significant and the IC_(50) value was calculated as 55.56 μg/mL.Anticholinesterase activity was less observed.The cytotoxic activity against both breast(MCF-7) and lung cancer(A543) cell lines were significant and the IC_(50)value was calculated as 10 and 13 μg/mL respectively.Conclusions: These findings showed that bioactive compounds present in propolis will alleviate many diseases and can be used for better human health. | R Thirugnanasampandan Sayana Beena Raveendran R Jayakumar | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,8: | 5 |
| 3 | Ivabradine in the treatment of systolic heart failure- A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To perform a systematic-review and meta-analysis to compare outcomes of ivabradine combined with betablocker to beta-blocker alone in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFr EF).METHODS We searched PubM ed, Cochrane, EMBASE, CINAHL and Web of Science for trials comparing ivabradine + betablocker to beta-blocker alone in HFr EF. We performed a systematic-review and meta-analysis of published literature. Primary end-point was combined end point of cardiac death and hospitalization for heart failure.RESULTS Six studies with 17671 patients were included. Mean follow-up was 8.7 ± 7.9 mo. Combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death was better in ivabradine + beta-blocker group compared to beta-blocker alone(RR: 0.93, 95%CI: 0.79-1.09, P = 0.354). Mean difference(MD) in heart rate was higher in the ivabradine + beta-blocker group(MD: 6.14, 95%CI: 3.80-8.48, P < 0.001). There was no difference in all cause mortality(RR: 0.98, 95%CI: 0.89-1.07, P = 0.609), cardiovascular mortality(RR: 0.99, 95%CI: 0.86-1.15, P = 0.908) or heart failure hospitalization(RR: 0.87, 95%CI: 0.68-1.11, P = 0.271). CONCLUSION From the available clinical trials, ivabradine + betablocker resulted in a significantly greater reduction in HRcoupled with improvement in combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death but with no improvement in all cause or cardiovascular mortality. | 4 | Active Thermal Control for Delaying Maintenance of Power Electronics Converters显示文摘Several studies have reported about power semiconductors and capacitors being the most sensitive components in power converters.The lifetime of these devices is associated with the mission profile and the resulting temperature profile.For preventing failures,it is of interest to estimate the Remaining Useful Lifetime(RUL)and several condition monitoring methods have been proposed for this purpose.Moreover,modular power converters consist of a high number of components and methods have been proposed to reduce the thermal stress and therefore extend the lifetime of a system with software,referred to as active thermal control.For power converters with limited accessibility,the RUL detected by the condition monitoring system may not fit to the scheduled maintenance of the system and devices may still have a significant RUL when their replacement is scheduled.Therefore,this work proposes to control the stress of the most deteriorated components in the system such that the failure probability of multiple building blocks is equalized when the next maintenance is scheduled.Moreover,this concept is proposed to extend the time to the next maintenance and reduce the number of maintenance instances without affecting the mean lifetime of the system. | Markus Andresen Johannes Kuprat Vivek Raveendran Johannes Falck Marco Liserre | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2018,4,3: | 4 |
