1Analysis of stable components for extended-range (10-30 days) weather forecast:A case study of continuous overcast-rainy process in early 2009 over the mid-lower reaches of the Yangtze River显示文摘A continuous overcast-rainy weather(CORW) process occurred over the mid-lower reaches of the Yangtze River(MLRYR) in China from February 14 to March 9 in 2009,with a large stretch and long duration that was rarely seen in historical records.Using the empirical orthogonal function(EOF),we analyzed the geopotential height anomaly field of the NCEP-DOE Reanalysis II in the same period,and defined the stable components of extended-range(10-30 days) weather forecast(ERWF).Furthermore,we defined anomalous and climatic stable components based on the variation characteristics of the variance contribution ratio of EOF components.The climatic stable components were able to explain the impact of climatically averaged information on the ERWF,and the anomalous stable components revealed the abnormal characteristics of the continuous overcast-rainy days.Our results show that the stable components,especially the anomalous stable components,can maintain the stability for a longer time(more than 10 days) and manifest as monthly scale low-frequency variation and ultra-long-wave activities.They also behave as ultra-long waves of planetary scale with a stable and vertically coherent structure,reflect the variation of general circulation in mid-high latitudes,display the cycle of the zonal circulation and the movement and adjustment of the ultra-long waves,and are closely linked to the surface CORW process.FENG GuoLin SUN ShuPeng ZHAO JunHu ZHENG ZhiHai 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,9:8
2Drag-reduction of a nonionic surfactant aqueous solution and its rheological characteristics显示文摘In order to develop turbulent drag-reducing technology by using an environmentally friendly additive in a water-transporting system,the drag reducing characteristics in a non-ionic surfactant(Oleyldimethylamineoxide,ODMAO) dilute aqueous solution flowing in a circular pipe of 5 mm diameter have been experimentally investigated with an air-driven fluid resistance test device.The rheological characteristics of the solution have also been examined by a rheometer with a cone-plate flow cell.The results show that the ODMAO solutions are drag-reducing when concentration is 400 ppm or higher,that the critical Reynolds number corresponding to the maximum drag reduction rate increases with both concentration and temperature,and that the maximum drag reduction rate can reach up to 70% in the straight pipe.At low shear rates,the shear viscosity of ODMAO solutions with a relatively high drag-reduction behaves similarly to Newtonian fluids;at above a certain critical shear rate,it is firstly shear-thickening,then shear-thinning.Such shear-rate-dependent characteristics of the shear viscosity are attributed to the different transitions of micellar network structure induced by different shear rates.Relaxation of shear stress after removing an applied constant shear rate at which the solution is in the SIS(shear-induced structure) state is found to be well expressed by a 2-step Maxwell model with a tail relaxation time much shorter than that for a drag-reducing cationic surfactant,which indicates that for the ODMAO solution,a viscoelasticity as strong as a drag-reducing cationic surfactant is not needed to realize turbulent drag-reduction.CAI ShuPeng SUZUKI Hiroshi KOMODA Yoshiyuki 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,3:7
3Hydrate agglomeration modeling and pipeline hydrate slurry flow behavior simulation显示文摘Dynamic modeling and numerical simulation of hydrate slurry flow behavior are of great importance to offshore hydrate management.For this purpose, a dynamic model of hydrate agglomeration was proposed in this paper.Based on population balance equation, the frame of the dynamic model was established first, which took both hydrate agglomeration and hydrate breakage into consideration.Then, the calculating methods of four key parameters involved in the dynamic model were given according to hydrate agglomeration dynamics.The four key parameters are collision frequency, agglomeration efficiency, breakage frequency and the size distribution of sub particles resulting from particle breakage.After the whole dynamic model was built, it was combined with several traditional solid–liquid flow models and then together solved by the CFD software FLUENT 14.5.Finally, using this method, the influences of flow rate and hydrate volume fraction on hydrate particle size distribution, hydrate volume concentration distribution and pipeline pressure drop were simulated and analyzed.Guangchun Song Yuxing Li Wuchang Wang Kai Jiang Zhengzhuo Shi Shupeng Yao 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,1:6

5XCO_2 satellite retrieval experiments in short-wave infrared spectrum and ground-based validation显示文摘Based on the optimal estimation method, a satellite XCO2 retrieval algorithm was constructed by combining LBLRTM with VLIDORT. One-year GOSAT/TANSO observations over four TCCON stations were tested by our algorithm, and retrieval results were compared with GOSAT L2 B products and ground-based FTS measurements. Meanwhile, the influence of CO2 line mixing effect on retrieval was estimated, and the research showed that neglecting CO2 line mixing effect could result in approximately 0.25% XCO2 underestimation. 7High-Sensitivity Gas Detection with Air-Lasing-Assisted Coherent Raman Spectroscopy显示文摘Remote or standoff detection of greenhouse gases,air pollutants,and biological agents with innovative ultrafast laser technology attracts growing interests in recent years.Hybrid femtosecond/picosecond coherent Raman spectroscopy is considered as one of the most versatile techniques due to its great advantages in terms of detection sensitivity and chemical specificity.However,the simultaneous requirement for the femtosecond pump and the picosecond probe increases the complexity of optical system.Herein,we demonstrate that air lasing naturally created inside a filament can serve as an ideal light source to probe Raman coherence excited by the femtosecond pump,producing coherent Raman signal with molecular vibrational signatures.The combination of pulse self-compression effect and air lasing action during filamentation improves Raman excitation efficiency and greatly simplifies the experimental setup.The air-lasing-assisted Raman spectroscopy was applied to quantitatively detect greenhouse gases mixed in air,and it was found that the minimum detectable concentrations of CO_(2) and SF_(6) can reach 0.1%and 0.03%,respectively.The ingenious designs,especially the optimization of pump-seed delay and the choice of perpendicular polarization,ensure a high detection sensitivity and signal stability.Moreover,it is demonstrated that this method can be used for simultaneously measuring CO_(2) and SF_(6) gases and distinguishing ^(12)CO_(2) and ^(13)CO_(2).The developed scheme provides a new route for high-sensitivity standoff detection and combustion diagnosis.Zhihao Zhang Fangbo Zhang Bo Xu Hongqiang Xie Botao Fu Xu Lu Ning Zhang Shupeng Yu Jinping Yao Ya Cheng Zhizhan Xu 2022Ultrafast Science2022,,2:4
8Mapping Near-surface Air Temperature, Pressure, Relative Humidity and Wind Speed over China's Mainland with High Spatiotemporal Resolution显示文摘As part of a joint effort to construct an atmospheric forcing dataset for China's Mainland with high spatiotemporal resolution, a new approach is proposed to construct gridded near-surface temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and surface pressure with a resolution of 1 km×1 km. The approach comprises two steps:(1) fit a partial thin-plate smoothing spline with orography and reanalysis data as explanatory variables to ground-based observations for estimating a trend surface;(2)apply a simple kriging procedure to the residual for trend surface correction.The proposed approach is applied to observations collected at approximately 700 stations over China's Mainland. The generated forcing fields are compared with the corresponding components of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP) Climate Forecast System Reanalysis dataset and the Princeton meteorological forcing dataset. 14Experimental study on enhancement of the metastatic potential of portal vein tumor thrombus-originated hepatocellular carcinoma cells using portal vein serum显示文摘Objective: Portal vein metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) results in a poor prognosis and seriously affects the survival rate of patients. The mechanism underlying the formation of portal vein tumor thrombus(PVTT) is complex and is not yet fully understood. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of portal vein blood on the proliferation, metastasis, invasion and apoptosis of PVTT cells and to explore its possible mechanisms, which was expected to lay a foundation for ascertaining the mechanism underlying the portal vein metastasis of HCC.Methods: Peripheral blood and portal vein blood were collected from patients with HCC, and the sera from these two sources were used to culture the PVTT-originated HCC cell line CSQT-2. The cells were collected after 24 h, and flow cytometry was performed to detect cell proliferation, cell cycle stages and apoptosis. Transwell migration and invasion assays were applied to detect the metastasis and invasion of the cells in each group. The changes in the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in cells were detected via Western blotting. The contents of IL-12, IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-2 and TNF-α in the two groups of sera were quantified using corresponding kits. Results: Compared with the group of cells cultured with peripheral serum, the cells cultured with portal vein serum showed significantly lower apoptosis(P<0.01), significantly enhanced cell metastasis and invasion(P<0.01), whereas cell proliferation and the stages of the cell cycle did not differ significantly(P>0.05). A significantly increased expression level of MMP-2 has been observed in tumor cells treated portal vein serum. In addition, compared with peripheral serum, the content of IL-12 was significantly decreased in portal vein serum(P<0.05), while the contents of IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-2, and TNF-α did not differ significantly(P>0.05). Conclusions: Portal vein serum from HCC patients could inhibit the apoptosis of PVTT-originated HCC cells and promote cell metastasis and invasion. 19Learning to recognize misaligned hyperfine orbital angular momentum modes显示文摘Orbital angular momentum(OAM)-carrying beams have received extensive attention due to their high-dimensional characteristics in the context of free-space optical communication.However,accurate OAM mode recognition still suffers from reference misalignment of lateral displacement,beam waist size,and initial phase.Here we propose a deep-learning method to exquisitely recognize OAM modes under misalignment by using an alignment-free fractal multipoint interferometer.Our experiments achieve 98.35% recognizing accuracy when strong misalignment is added to hyperfine OAM modes whose Bures distance is 0.01.The maximum lateral displacement we added with respect to the perfectly on-axis beam is about±0.5 beam waist size.This work offers a superstable proposal for OAM mode recognition in the application of free-space optical communication and allows an increase of the communication capacity.Xiao Wang Yufeng Qian JingJing Zhang Guangdong Ma Shupeng Zhao RuiFeng Liu Hongrong Li Pei Zhang Hong Gao Feng Huang Fuli Li 2021Photonics Research2021,9,4:1
