2Broadband ultrafast nonlinear optical response of few-layers graphene: toward the mid-infrared regime显示文摘Gapless linear energy dispersion of graphene endows it with unique nonlinear optical properties, including broadband nonlinear absorption and giant nonlinear refractive index. Herein, we experimentally observed that fewlayers graphene has obvious nonlinear absorption and large nonlinear refraction, as investigated by the Z-scan technique in the mid-infrared(mid-IR) regime. 3Physical location of rice Gm-6,Pi-5(t) genes in O.officinalis with BAC-FISH显示文摘A fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) procedure was adopted to physically map two rice BAC clones 24E21 and 4F22 linked to Gm-6 and Pi-5(t) in O. offi-cinalis. FISH results showed that the two BAC clones were located at 4L. The percentage distance from the centromere to the hybridization sites was 72 ± 2.62 for 24E21 and 54± 5.43 for 4F22, the detection rates were 52.70% and 61.2%. The results obtained from the BAC and plasmid clones, RG214 and RZ565 of cultivated rice and O. officinalis were the same. This suggested that the markers, RG214 and RZ565 of cultivated rice and O. officinalis were in the same BAC clones. The homologous sequences of Gm-6 and Pi-5(t) in O. officinalis were positions that signals existed on the 4L. Many signals were observed when no Cot-1 DNA blocked. This also showed that repetitive sequences were some ho-molgous between cultivated rice and O. officinalis. The identification of chromosome 4 of O. officinalis is based on Jena et al. (1994). 5Developing individual tree-based models for estimating aboveground biomass of five key coniferous species in China显示文摘Estimating individual tree biomass is critical to forest carbon accounting and ecosystem service modeling.In this study,we developed one-(tree diameter only) and two-variable(tree diameter and height) biomass equations,biomass conversion factor(BCF) models,and an integrated simultaneous equation system(ISES) to estimate the aboveground biomass for five conifer species in China,i.e.,Cunninghamia lanceolata(Lamb.) Hook.,Pinus massoniana Lamb.,P.yunnanensis Faranch,P.tabulaeformis Carr.and P.elliottii Engelm.,based on the field measurement data of aboveground biomass and stem volumes from 1055 destructive sample trees across the country.We found that all three methods,including the one-and two-variable equations,could adequately estimate aboveground biomass with a mean prediction error less than 5%,except for Pinus yunnanensis which yielded an error of about 6%.The BCF method was slightly poorer than the biomass equation and the ISES methods.The average coefficients of determination(R^2) were 0.944,0.938 and 0.943 and the mean prediction errors were 4.26,4.49 and 4.29% for the biomass equation method,the BCF method and the ISES method,respectively.The ISES method was the best approach for estimating aboveground biomass,which not only had high accuracy but also could estimate stocking volumes simultaneously that was compatible with aboveground biomass.In addition,we found that it is possible to develop a species-invariant one-variable allometric model for estimating aboveground biomass of all the five coniferous species.The model had an exponent parameter of 7/3 and the intercept parameter a_0 could be estimated indirectly from stem basic density(a_0= 0.294 q).Weisheng Zeng Liyong Fu Ming Xu Xuejun Wang Zhenxiong Chen Shunbin Yao 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,5:5
6Comparative genome research between maize and rice using genomic in situ hybridization显示文摘Using the genomic DNAs of maize and rice as probes respectively, the homology of maize and rice genomes was assessed by genomic in situ hybridization. When rice genomic DNAs were hybridized to maize, all chromosomes displayed many multiple discrete regions, while each rice chromosome delineated a single consecutive chromosomal region after they were hybridized with maize genomic DNAs. 7Determination of copy number for 5S rDNA and centromeric sequence RCS2 in rice by Fiber-FISH显示文摘The copy number of 5S rDNA and centromerie sequence RCS2 was determined by extended DNA fiber based fluorescence in situ hybridization (Fiber-FISH) in rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica cv. Guangluai No. 4) genome. In order to determine the copy number, it is necessary to know the basepair number that a given length DNA fiber contains under a microscope. Therefore, the length of two DNA frag-ments, in which the basepair number had been already known, was measured. The insert sequence of the tested BAC 38D17 was 136 kb and its extended DNA was 56.4 μm long, 2.41 kb/μm on average, while that of the tested BAC 44B4 was 144.5 kb in total and 55.7 μm long, 2.60 kb/μm on average under the microscope. They were very close to the theoretical value of B-DNA in the Watson-Crick DNA model, which is 2.97 kb/μm. 8Ultrafast nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction in few-layer oxidized black phosphorus显示文摘We experimentally investigated the nonlinear optical response in few-layer oxidized black phosphorus(OBP) by the femtosecond Z-scan measurement technique, and found that OBP not only possesses strong ultrafast saturable absorption but also a nonlinear self-defocusing effect that is absent in black phosphorus(BP). The saturable absorption property originates mainly from the direct band structure, which is still maintained in OBP. The emergence of self-defocusing might originate from the combined consequences of the oxygen-induced defects in BP. Our experimental findings might constitute the first experimental evidence on how to dynamically tune its nonlinear property, offering an inroad in tailoring its optical properties through chemical modification(oxidation, introducing defects, etc.). 9A novel method for in situ detection of apoptotic cell death in plants显示文摘A simple novel protocol suitable for in situ detection of apoptotic plant cell death is presented. This protocol combines the chromosome spreading technique with an extended in situ end labeling version for plants and makes it possible to detect apoptosis directly at chromosome,nuclear and DNA levels simultaneously with high-sensitivity. False positive and nonspecific signals can be efficiently avoided. Moreover, the changes of chromosomes, nuclei and DNA during the process of apoptosis can be characterized in situ. 10Mouse models of Mdm2 and Mdm4 and their clinical implications显示文摘Mdm2 and Mdm4 are two key negative regulators of the tumor suppressor p53.Deletion of either Mdm2 or Mdm4 induces p53-dependent early embryonic lethality in knockout mouse models.The tissuespecific deletion of Mdm2 induces p53-dependent apoptosis,whereas the deletion of Mdm4 induces both p53-dependent apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.Compared to Mdm4 deletion,Mdm2 deletion causes more severe phenotypic defects.Disrupting the Mdm2 and Mdm4 interaction using knockin mice models causes embryonic lethality that can be completely rescued by the concomitant loss of p53,suggesting that Mdm2 and Mdm4 heterodimerization is critical to inhibit p53 activity during embryogenesis.Overexpression of Mdm2 and Mdm4 in mice induces spontaneous tumorigenesis,which clearly indicates that Mdm2 and Mdm4 are bona fide oncogenes.Studies from these mouse models strongly suggest that blocking Mdm2and Mdm4-mediated p53 inhibition is an appealing therapeutic strategy for cancer patients with wild-type p53 alleles.Shunbin Xiong 2013Chinese Journal of Cancer2013,32,7:2
11Ultra-high-resolution detection of Pb2+ ions using a black phosphorus functionalized microfiber coil resonator显示文摘A black phosphorus(BP) functionalized optical fiber sensor based on a microfiber coil resonator(MCR) for Pb^2+ ion detection in an aquatic environment is presented and experimentally demonstrated. The MCR-BP sensor is manufactured by winding a tapered microfiber on a hollow rod composed of a low-refractive-index polycarbonate(PC) resin with the BP deposited on the internal wall of the rod. Based on the propagation properties of the MCR, the chemical interaction between the Pb^2+ ions and the BP alters the refractive index of the ambient environment and thus results in a detectable shift in the transmission spectrum. The resonance wavelength moves towards longer wavelengths with an increasing concentration of Pb^2+ ions, and the sensor has an ultra-high detection resolution of 0.0285 ppb(parts per billion). The temperature dependence is 106.95 pm/°C due to the strong thermo-optic and thermal-expansion effect of the low-refractive-index PC resin. In addition, the sensor shows good stability over a period of 15 days. The local pH also influences the sensor, with the resonance wavelength shift increasing as pH approaches a value of 7 but then decreasing as the pH value increases further due to the effect of the BP layer by H^+ and OH-ions. 15FISH analysis of the integration patterns in transgenic rice co-transformed by micro-projectile bombardment显示文摘Using multi-color fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), we localized transferred barnase-psl and pHctinG DNA sequences onto chromosomes of two trans-genie rice plants, named Q12 and Q13, both of which were produced by micro-projectile bombardment. In both Q12 and Q13, each detected cell showed 2-3 signal spots on their chromosomes respectively. The signals of both barnase-psl and pHctinG were mostly detected in the adjacent chromosomal sites in which their signals were overlapped and could be recognized by the signal color on the metaphase chromosomes. Fiber FISH further demonstrated that the multiple copies in each of the two DNA sequences distributed adjacently on the DNA fiber in Q13. 20Superior optical Kerr effects induced by two-dimensional excitons显示文摘Materials with strong optical Kerr effects(OKEs)are crucial for a broad range of applications,such as all-optical data processing and quantum information.However,the underlying OKE mechanism is not clear in 2D materials.Here,we reveal key insights of the OKE associated with 2D excitons.An admirably succinct formalism is derived for predicting the spectra and the magnitude of the nonlinear refractive index(n_(2))of 2D materials.The predicted n_(2)spectra are consistent with reported experimental data and exhibit pronounced excitonic resonances,which is distinctively different from bulk semiconductors.The n_(2) value is predicted to be 3×10^(−10)cm^(2)/W for a 2D layered perovskite at low temperature as 7 K,which is four orders of magnitude larger than those of bulk semiconductors.The superior OKE induced by 2D excitons would give rise to a narrow refractive index-near-zero region for intense laser light.Furthermore,we demonstrate that the 2D layered perovskite should exhibit the best OKE efficiency(W_(FOM)=1.02,T_(FOM)=0.14)at 1550 nm,meeting the material requirements for all-optical switching.Our findings deepen the understanding of the OKE of 2D semiconducting materials and pave the way for highly efficient all-optical excitonic devices.Feng Zhou Cacere Jelah Nieva Dianyuan Fan Shunbin Lu Wei Ji 2022Photonics Research2022,10,3:0
