Control measures during the COVID-19 outbreak reduced the transmission of hand, foot, and mouth disease显示文摘Control measures during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak may have limited the spread of infectious diseases. This study aimed to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the spread of hand, foot, and mouth disease(HFMD)in China.A mathematical model was established to fit the reported data of HFMD in six selected cities in China's Mainland from 2015 to 2020.The absolute difference(AD)and relative difference(RD)between the reported incidence in 2020,and simulated maximum, minimum,or median incidence of HFMD in 2015-2019 were calculated. The incidence and R effof HFMD have decreased in six selected cities since the outbreak of COVID-19,and in the second half of 2020,the incidence and R effof HFMD have rebounded. The results show that the total attack rate(TAR)in 2020 was lower than the maximum, minimum, and median TAR fitted in previous years in six selected cities(except Changsha City). For the maximum, median, minimum fitted TAR,the range of RD(%)is 42·20-99·20%,36·35-98·41%48·35-96·23%(except Changsha City)respectively. The preventive and control measures of COVID-19 have significantly contributed to the containment of HFMD transmission.Yan Niu Li Luo Jia Rui Shiting Yang Bin Deng Zeyu Zhao Shengnan Lin Jingwen Xu Yuanzhao Zhu Yao Wang Meng Yang Xingchun Liu Tianlong Yang Weikang Liu Peihua Li Zhuoyang Li Chan Liu Jiefeng Huang Tianmu Chen 2021Journal of Safety Science and Resilience2021,2,2:3
Microwave triggered multifunctional nanoplatform for targeted photothermal-chemotherapy in castration-resistant prostate cancer显示文摘Lacking a precise targeting strategy,castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)is still hard to be treat effectively.Exploring treatment options that can accurately target CPRC is an important issue with urgent need.In this study,a novel nanotechnologybased strategy had been developed for the precise target treatment of CRPC.By combining microwaves and photothermal therapy(PTT),this nanoplatform,cmHSP70-PL-AuNC-DOX,targets tumor tissues with outstanding precision and achieves better anti-tumor activity by simultaneously eliciting photothermal and chemotherapeutic effects. From nanotechnology,cmHSP70-modified and thermo-sensitive liposome-coated AuNC-DOX were prepared and used for CRPC-targeted photothermal ablation and chemotherapy.Doxorubicin(DOX)was selected as the chemotherapeutic agent for cytotoxicity. In terms of the curative scheme, prostate tissues were firstly pre-treated with microwaves to induce the expression of heat shock protein 70(HSP70)and its migration to the cell membrane, which was then targeted by HSP70 antibody(cmHSP70)coated on the nanoparticles to achieve accurate drug delivery. The nanoplatform then achieved precise ablation and controlled release of DOX under external near-infrared(NIR)irradiation.Through the implementation, the targeting, cell killing, and safety of this therapeutical strategy had been verified in vivo and in vitro. This work establishes an accurate,controllable,efficient,non-invasive,and safe treatment platform for targeting CRPC,provides a rational design for CRPC’s PTT,and offers new prospects for nanomedicines with great precision.Pengyuan Liu Yajun Wu Xiaogang Xu Xudong Fan Chuan Sun Xiaojie Chen Jindan Xia Shiting Bai Li Qu Huasong Lu Jing Wu Jun Chen Ji-Gang Piao Zhibing Wu 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:2
Feasibility of Booster Vaccination in High-Risk Populations for Controlling Coronavirus Variants—China,2021显示文摘Introduction:Vaccination booster shots are completely necessary for controlling breakthrough infections of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)in China. The study aims to estimate effectiveness of booster vaccines for high-risk populations(HRPs).Methods:A vaccinated Susceptible-Exposed-Symptomatic-Asymptomatic-Recovered/Removed(SEIAR)model was developed to simulate scenarios of effective reproduction number(Reff)from 4 to 6.Total number of infectious and asymptomatic cases were used to evaluated vaccination effectiveness. Results:Our model showed that we could not prevent outbreaks when covering 80%of HRPs with booster unless Reff=4.0 or the booster vaccine had efficacy against infectivity and susceptibility of more than 90%.The results were consistent when the outcome index was confirmed cases or asymptomatic cases. Conclusions:An ideal coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)booster vaccination strategy for HRPs would be expected to reach the initial goal to control the transmission of the Delta variant in China.Accordingly, the recommendation for the COVID-19 booster vaccine should be implemented in HRPs who are already vaccinated and could prevent transmission to other groups.Kangguo Li Zeyu Zhao Hongjie Wei Jia Rui Jiefeng Huang Xiaohao Guo Yichao Guo Shiting Yang Guzainuer Abudurusuli Li Luo Xingchun Liu Yao Wang Jingwen Xu Yuanzhao Zhu Meng Yang TianlongYang Weikang Liu Bin Deng Chan Liu Zhuoyang Li Peihua Li Shanshan Yu Zimei Yang Yanhua Su Benhua Zhao Yan Niu Tianmu Chen 2021China CDC weekly2021,3,50:2
Dorsomorphin induces cancer cell apoptosis and sensitizes cancer cells to HSP90 and proteasome inhibitors by reducing nuclear heat shock factor 1 levels显示文摘Objective: Heat shock factor 1(HSF1), a transcriptional regulator of heat shock proteins(HSPs), is an attractive therapeutic target for cancer. However, only a few HSF1 inhibitors have been identified so far. Methods: The mRNA and protein levels of HSF1, HSPs, cleaved PARP, and phosphorylated HSF1 were examined by real-time PCR and Western blot. Forced expression, RNA interference, and immunofluorescence assay were used for mechanistic studies.Cell viability and apoptosis were measured by WST-8 assay and flow cytometry, respectively. Xenograft studies were performed in nude mice to evaluate the effect of dorsomorphin and an HSP90 inhibitor on tumor growth. Results: Dorsomorphin suppressed multiple stimuli-induced and constitutive HSPs expression in cancer cells. Mechanistic studies revealed that dorsomorphin reduced heat-induced HSP expression independent of adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase. Dorsomorphin reduced heat-stimulated HSF1 Ser320 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation, as well as resting nuclear HSF1 levels in cancer cells. Dorsomorphin induced cancer cell apoptosis by inhibiting HSF1 expression. A structure-activity study revealed that the 4-pyridyl at the 3-site of the pyrazolo [1, 5-a]pyrimidine ring is critical for the anti-HSF1 activities of dorsomorphin. Dorsomorphin sensitized cancer cells to HSP90 and proteasome inhibitors and inhibited HSP70 expression induced by these inhibitors in vitro. In tumor-bearing nude mice, dorsomorphin enhanced HSP90 inhibitor-induced cancer cell apoptosis, tumor growth inhibition, and HSP70 expression. Conclusions: Dorsomorphin is an HSF1 inhibitor. It induces cancer cell apoptosis, sensitizes cancer cells to both HSP90 and proteasome inhibitors, and suppresses HSP upregulation by these drugs, which may prevent the development of drug resistance.Hence, dorsomorphin and its derivates may serve as potential precursors for developing drugs against cancer.Na Li Ting Wang Zongmeng Li Xiaoli Ye Bo Deng Shu Zhuo Pengle Yao Mengmei Yang Hong Mei Xiaofang Chen Tengfei Zhu Shiting Chen Hui Wang Jiming Wang Yingying Le 2019Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,2:1

Comparison of clinical efficacy between LAPS and ALPPS in the treatment of hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Background:Insufficient post-operative future liver remnant(FLR)limits the feasibility of hepatectomy for patients.Staged hepatectomy is an effective surgical approach that can improve the resection rate of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).This study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic microwave ablation and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(LAPS)and classical associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS)in the treatment of hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related HCC.Methods:Clinical data of patients with HBV-related HCC who underwent LAPS or ALPPS in our institute between January 2017 and May 2022 were retrospectively analysed. Results:A total of 18 patients with HBV-related HCC were retrospectively analysed and divided into the LAPS group(n=9)and ALPPS group(n=9).Eight patients in the LAPS group and eight patients in the ALPPS group proceeded to a similar resection rate(88.9%vs 88.9%,P=1.000).The patients undergoing LAPS had a lower total comprehensive complication index than those undergoing ALPPS but there was not a significant different between the two groups(8.66 vs 35.87,P=0.054).The hypertrophy rate of FLR induced by ALPPS tended to be more rapid than that induced by LAPS(24.29 vs 13.17 mL/d,P=0.095).The 2-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)was 0%for ALPPS and 35.7%for LAPS(P=0.009),whereas the 2-year overall survival for ALPPS and LAPS was 33.3%and 100.0%(P=0.052),respectively.Conclusions:LAPS tended to induce lower morbidity and FLR hypertrophy more slowly than ALPPS,with a comparable resection rate and better long-term RFS in HBV-related HCC patients.Zebin Chen Shunli Shen Wenxuan Xie Junbin Liao Shiting Feng Shaoqiang Li Jiehui Tan Ming Kuang 2023Gastroenterology Report2023,11,1:0
Transmissibility of tuberculosis among students and non-students:an occupational-specific mathematical modelling显示文摘Background: Recently, despite the steady decline in the tuberculosis (TB) epidemic globally, school TB outbreaks have been frequently reported in China. This study aimed to quantify the transmissibility ofMycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) among students and non-students using a mathematical model to determine characteristics of TB transmission. Methods: We constructed a dataset of reported TB cases from four regions (Jilin Province, Xiamen City, Chuxiong Prefecture, and Wuhan City) in China from 2005 to 2019. We classified the population and the reported cases under student and non-student groups, and developed two mathematical models [nonseasonal model (Model A) and seasonal model (Model B)] based on the natural history and transmission features of TB. The effective reproduction number (R(eff)) of TB between groups were calculated using the collected data. Results: During the study period, data on 456,423 TB cases were collected from four regions: students accounted for 6.1% of cases. The goodness-of-fit analysis showed that Model A had a better fitting effect (P < 0.001). The average R_(eff) of TB estimated from Model A was 1.68 [interquartile range (IQR): 1.20–1.96] in Chuxiong Prefecture, 1.67 (IQR: 1.40–1.93) in Xiamen City, 1.75 (IQR: 1.37–2.02) in Jilin Province, and 1.79 (IQR: 1.56–2.02) in Wuhan City. The average R_(eff) of TB in the non-student population was 23.30 times (1.65/0.07) higher than that in the student population. Conclusions: The transmissibility of MTB remains high in the non-student population of the areas studied, which is still dominant in the spread of TB. TB transmissibility from the non-student-to-student-population had a strong influence on students. Specific interventions, such as TB screening, should be applied rigorously to control and to prevent TB transmission among students.Qiuping Chen Shanshan Yu Jia Rui Yichao Guo Shiting Yang Guzainuer Abudurusuli Zimei Yang Chan Liu Li Luo Mingzhai Wang Zhao Lei Qinglong Zhao Laurent Gavotte Yan Niu Roger Frutos Tianmu Chen 2022Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,6:0
Modeling Cross-Regional Transmission and Assessing the Effectiveness of Restricting Inter-Regional Population Movements in Controlling COVID-19-Xi’an City,Shaanxi Province,China,2021显示文摘Introduction:The aim of this study was to construct an assessment method for cross-regional transmission of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and to provide recommendations for optimizing measures such as interregional population movements. Methods:Taking Xi’an City as the example subject of this study’s analysis,a Cross-Regional-Gravitational-Dynamic model was constructed to simulate the epidemic in each district of Xi’an under three scenarios of controlled population movement(Scenario 1:no intensive intervention;Scenario 2:blocking Yanta District on December 18 and blocking the whole region on December 23;and Scenario 3:blocking the whole region on December 23).This study then evaluated the effects of such simulated population control measures. Results:The cumulative number of cases for the three scenarios was 8,901,425,178,and 474,respectively,and the duration of the epidemic was 175,18,and 22 days, respectively. The real world prevention and control measures in Xi’an reduced the cumulative number of cases for its outbreak by 99.98%in comparison to the simulated response in Scenario 1;in contrast, the simulated prevention and control strategies set in Scenarios 2(91.26%)and 3(76.73%)reduced cases even further than the real world measures used in Xi’an.Discussion:The constructed model can effectively simulate an outbreak across regions.Timely implementation of two-way containment and control measures in areas where spillover is likely to occur is key to stopping cross-regional transmission.Tianlong Yang Yao Wang Nankun Liu Guzainuer Abudurusuli Shiting Yang Shanshan Yu Weikang Liu Xuecheng Yin Tianmu Chen 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,31:0
Exploring the mechanism of Xiaopi Hewei capsule in treating functional dyspepsia based on network pharmacology显示文摘Objective:Functional dyspepsia(FD)is a widely prevalent gastrointestinal disorder throughout the world, whereas the efficacy of current treatment in the Western countries is limited. The traditional Chinese herbal formula Xiaopi Hewei capsule(XHC)is a clinically validated remedy in treating FD,but there is no literature expounds the underlying therapeutic mechanism of XHC so far. Methods:In the present study, the network pharmacology technology was used to explore the therapeutic mechanism of XHC in treating FD.We obtained relative compounds of XHC,potential targets of these compounds and FD-related targets by retrieving particular websites.Based on the matching results between XHC potential targets and disease targets,Protein-Protein Interaction(PPI)network was constructed to screen the hub targets by topology.Furthermore,DAVID bioinformatics resources were utilized for the enrichment analysis on GO and KEGG.Results:A total of 62 active compounds and 547 putative identified targets were screened from XHC,of which 241 overlapped with the targets of FD and were considered potential therapeutic targets.14 hub genes were recognized as potential targets of treatments. Moreover, the results of DAVID enrichment analysis indicated that XHC participated in the complex treating effects associated with anti-depression,inflammatory reaction and eradicating Helicobacter Pylori(HP).Molecular docking stimulation results showed that most bioactive compounds of XHC had a strong binding efficiency with hub genes. Conclusions:This study demonstrated that XHC has the characteristics of multi-compounds,multi-targets and multi-pathways in treating FD,which provides the theoretical basis for further research of XHC.Runhua Liu Yu Sun Shiting Ni Jiaqi Wang Hao Wu Yuxia Qu Chenning Zhang Yikun Sun 2020TMR Modern Herbal Medicine2020,3,4:0
Time-delay nonlinear model based on interval grey number and its application显示文摘In this paper, an optimization model is proposed to simulate and predict the current situation of smog. The model takes the interval grey number sequence with the known possibility function as the original data, and constructs a time-delay nonlinear multivariable grey model MGM based on the new kernel and degree of greyness sequences considering its time-delay and nonlinearity. The time-delay parameter is determined by the maximum value of the grey time-delay absolute correlation degree, and the nonlinear parameter is determined by the minimum value of average relative error. In order to verify the feasibility of the model, this paper uses the smog related data of Nanjing city for simulation and prediction. Compared with the other four models, the new model has higher simulation and prediction accuracy.XIONG Pingping CHEN Shiting YAN Shuli 2022Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2022,33,2:0
Computing R_(0) of dynamic models by a definition-based method显示文摘Objectives:Computing the basic reproduction number(R0)in deterministic dynamical models is a hot topic and is frequently demanded by researchers in public health. The nextgeneration methods(NGM)are widely used for such computation, however, the results of NGM are usually not to be the true R0 but only a threshold quantity with little interpretation. In this paper,a definition-based method(DBM)is proposed to solve such a problem. Methods:Start with the definition of R0,consider different states that one infected individual may develop into, and take expectations.A comparison with NGM has proceeded.Numerical verification is performed using parameters fitted by data of COVID-19 in Hunan Province. Results:DBM and NGM give identical expressions for single-host models with single-group and interactive Rij of single-host models with multi-groups,while difference arises for models partitioned into subgroups.Numerical verification showed the consistencies and differences between DBM and NGM,which supports the conclusion that R0 derived by DBM with true epidemiological interpretations are better. Conclusions:DBM is more suitable for single-host models, especially for models partitioned into subgroups. However, for multi-host dynamic models where the true R0 is failed to define,we may turn to the NGM for the threshold R0.Xiaohao Guo Yichao Guo Zeyu Zhao Shiting Yang Yanhua Su Benhua Zhao Tianmu Chen 2022Infectious Disease Modelling2022,7,2:0
Random Terpolymer Based on Simple Siloxane-functionalized Thiophene Unit Enabling High-performance Non-fullerene Organic Solar Cells显示文摘Incorporation of siloxane-functionalized units into polymers backbone has proven to be an efficient strategy to improve photovoltaic performance. In this work, a low-cost siloxane-containing unit was developed to construct a series of terpolymers, and the effects of siloxane on the polymer performance were systematically studied. Different contents of thiophene containing siloxane-functionalized side chain were introduced into PM6 to obtain a series of polymers(PM6, PM6-SiO-10, PM6-SiO-20 and PM6-SiO-30). The siloxane-functionalized side chains in polymers have only a slight effect on the absorption behavior and frontier molecular orbitals. However, when the siloxane content increased, the terpolymers' aggregation property decreased and the temperature-dependency increased, leading to improved donor-acceptor compatibility. The power conversion efficiency(PCE) based on PM6:Y6, PM6-SiO-20:Y6 and PM6-SiO-30:Y6 devices was 15.64%, 16.03% and 15.82%, respectively. In comparison, the active layer based on PM6-SiO-10:Y6 exhibits the most appropriate phase separation morphology, resulting in effective exciton dissociation, more balanced hole-electron transport and less recombination. Consequently, the highest PCE of 16.69% with an outstanding shortcircuit current density of 26.96 mA·cm-2 was obtained, which are one of the highest values for siloxane-functionalized polymer-based devices. This work demonstrates that finely controlling the content of siloxane-functionalized thiophene is beneficial for obtaining high-performance terpolymer donors and provides a novel and low-cost method to improve photovoltaic performance.Fuliang Cheng Shiting Lai Yihan Zhang Ling Xue Xinxin Xia Peipei Zhu Xinhui Lu Xunfan Liao Yiwang Chen 2024Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2024,42,3:0
Contact pattern, current immune barrier, and pathogen virulence determines the optimal strategy of further vaccination显示文摘Background:The current outbreak of novel coronavirus disease 2019 has caused a seriousdisease burden worldwide.Vaccines are an important factor to sustain the epidemic.Although with a relatively high-vaccination worldwide, the decay of vaccine efficacy andthe arising of new variants lead us to the challenge of maintaining a sufficient immunebarrier to protect the population.Method:A case-contact tracking data in Hunan,China,is used to estimate the contactpattern of cases for scenarios including school, workspace, etc, rather than ordinary susceptible population.Based on the estimated vaccine coverage and efficacy,a multi-groupvaccinated-exposed-presymptomatic-symptomatic-asymptomatic-removed model(VEFIAR)with 8 age groups, with each partitioned into 4 vaccination status groups isdeveloped. The optimal dose-wise vaccinating strategy is optimized based on the currentlyestimated immunity barrier of coverage and efficacy, using the greedy algorithm thatminimizes the cumulative cases, population size of hospitalization and fatality respectivelyin a certain future interval.Parameters of Delta and Omicron variants are used respectivelyin the optimization. Results:The estimated contact matrices of cases showed a concentration on middle ages, and has compatible magnitudes compared to estimations from contact surveys in otherstudies. The VEFIAR model is numerically stable. The optimal controled vaccination strategy requires immediate vaccination on the un-vaccinated high-contact population of age30e39 to reduce the cumulative cases, and is stable with different basic reproductionnumbers(R_(0)).As for minimizing hospitalization and fatality, the optimized strategy requires vaccination on the un-vaccinated of both aged 30e39 of high contact frequencyand the vulnerable older. Conclusion:The objective of reducing transmission requires vaccination in age groups ofthe highest contact frequency, with more priority for un-vaccinated than un-fully or fullyvaccinated. The objective of reducing total hospitalization and fatality requires not only toreduce transmission but also to protect the vulnerable older. The priority changes byvaccination progress. For any region,if the local contact pattern is available, then with thevaccination coverage, efficacy, and disease characteristics of relative risks in heterogeneouspopulations, the optimal dose-wise vaccinating process will be obtained and gives hintsfor decision-making.Xiaohao Guo Ziyan Liu Shiting Yang Zeyu Zhao Yichao Guo Guzainuer Abudurusuli Shanlu Zhao Ge Zeng Shixiong Hu Kaiwei Luo Tianmu Chen 2023Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,1:0
A follow up study of cycle threshold values of SARS-CoV-2 in Hunan Province,China显示文摘Since the epidemic of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-COV-2),many governments have used reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)to detect the virus. However, there are fewer measures of CT values information based on RT-PCR results, and the relationship between CT values and factors from consecutive tests is not clear enough. So in this study,we analyzed the connection between CT values and the factors based on cohort data from Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 in Hunan Province.Previous studies have showed that the mean age of the cases was 33.34 years(±18.72 years),with a female predominance(55.03%,n=71),and the greatest proportion of clinical symptoms were of the common type(60.47%,n=78).There were statistical differences between the N and ORF1ab genes in the CT values for the cases.Based on the analysis of the association between CT values and the factors, the lowest CT values were obtained for the unvaccinated, older and clinically symptomatic group at 3e10 days, the maximum peak of viral load occurred. Therefore,it is recommended to use patient information to focus on older, clinically symptomatic, unvaccinated patients and to intervene promptly upon admission.Guzainuer Abudurusuli Kaiwei Luo Xiaohao Guo Zeyu Zhao Yichao Guo Buasiyamu Abudunaibi Shiting Yang Hongjie Wei Shanlu zhao Zhihui Dai Qianlai Sun Hao Yang Shixiong Hu Tianmu Chen 2023Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,1:0
Contrast-enhanced CT of Pulmonary Embolism: Report of 20 cases显示文摘Objectives To study the characteristic of pulmonary embolism (PE) in contrast-enhanced CT. Methods The radiological features were described in 20 patients with lobar and proximal PE diagnosed with a Toshiba Xpress/SX CT scanner after contrast material was administrated. Results There were 7 cases of pulmonary embolism (PE) secondary to lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT), of which 2 cases were related to sauna bath. We grouped the cases according to their extensiveness of embolism: mild, moderate, severe, or complete embolism. Mild embolism: the emboli occupied less than 30%, of the inner diameter of pulmonary artery (PA). Median embolism: the emboli occupied 30~50% of the PA diameter. Severe embolism: the emboli occupied over half of the PA (50%), but there were contrast flow. Completed embolism: there was no contrast found around the emboli. The direct sign of PE was a filling defect or no opacification in the affected branch of pulmonary artery (PA). There were 9 other secondary signs: ①widen PA, ②enlarged right ventricle and the right atrium, ③increased translucency of the lung and decreased bronchovascular shadows,④shrunken pulmonary veins liked dried rattan,⑤decreased left atrium and the left ventricle size, ⑥shifting of interventricular septum to the left and posterior direction,⑦The lateral lung parenchyma demonstrated in a triangular shape, ⑧pleural effusion and ⑨pericardiacle effusion. Conclusions The diagnosis of PE was revealed by 10 radiological signs by contrast-enhanced CT:With full understanding of the pathophysiological basis of these 10 signs:correct diagnosis of pulmonary embolism can be made.PE is commonly caused by lower limb. And sauna bath is one of the main predisposing causes.Feng Shiting Li Ziping Chen Jingdi Meng Quanfei Li Xiangmin Kuang Jianyi Zhou Xuhui 2007South China Journal of Cardiology2007,8,2:0
