1Recent advances in non-metal doped titania for solar-driven photocatalytic/photoelectrochemical water-splitting显示文摘Photocatalytic (PC) / Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting under solar light irradiation is considered as a prospective technique to support the sustainable and renewable H_(2) economy and to reach the ultime goal of carbon neutral. TiO_(2) based photocatalysts with high chemical stability and excellent photocatalytic properties have great potential for solar-to-H_(2) conversion. To conquer the challenges of the large band-gap and rapid recombination of photo generated electron-holepairs in TiO_(2), non-metal doping turns out to be economic, facile, and effective on boosting the visible light activity. The localized defect states such as oxygen vacancy and Ti^(3+) generated by non-metal doping are located in the band-gap of TiO_(2), which result in the reduction of band-gap, thus a red-shift of the absorption edge. The hetero doping atoms such as B^(3+), I^(7+), S^(4+)/S^(6+), P^(5+) can also act as electron donors or trap sites which facilitate the charge carrier separation and suppress the recombination of electron-hole pairs. In this comprehensive review, we present the most recent advances on non-metal doped TiO_(2) photocatalysts in terms of fundamental aspects, origin of visible light activity and the PC / PEC behaviours for water splitting. In particular, the characteristics of different non-metal elements (N, C, B, S, P, Halogens) as dopants are discussed in details focusing on the synthesis approaches, characterization as well as the efficiency of PC and PEC water splitting. 3Pollinator attraction in Cornus capitata (Cornaceae): the relative role of visual and olfactory cues显示文摘Aims it is generally accepted that visual displays and floral scent play important roles in communication between flowering plants and their pollinators.However,the relative role of visual and olfactory cues in pollinator attraction is largely unknown.in this study,we determined the roles of both types of cue in attracting pollinators to Cornus capitata,a medium sized tree with each capitulum sur-rounded by four large,white,petaloid bracts.Methods Pollinator observations and pollination experiments were con-ducted in a natural population;the inflorescences’visual and olfactory signals were characterized by spectral and chemical analyses;the responses of pollinators to visual and olfactory cues were tested using dual-choice behavioural bioassays;the relative roles of visual and olfactory cues in pollinator attrac-tion were tested by comparing the responses of pollinators to inflorescences subjected to three experimental treatments(intact,all bracts removed,and capitulum removed)within the natural population.Important Findings For fruit set,C.capitata is entirely dependent on pollinators,with a bee,Anthophora sp.,being the main pollinator.bracts present high colour distance and green contrast against the leaves.Twelve volatile compounds in the floral scent were detected,most of which have previously been reported to be attractive to a broad spectrum of bee species.behavioural bioassays showed that both,visual cues alone and olfactory cues alone,are attractive to pollinating bees.However,vis-ual cues alone attracted significantly more approaches than olfactory cues alone,while olfactory cues alone elicited a significantly higher landing percentage than visual cues alone.The finding suggests that,in the C.capitata-Anthophora sp.interaction,visual cues are mainly used for location from long distances,while olfactory cues mainly aid landing from short distances.our results indicate that different modalities of floral cues should be considered together to understand fully the communication between flowering plant and pollinators.Bo Song Yang Niu Jürg Stöcklin Gao Chen De-Li Peng Yong-Qian Gao Hang Sun 2015Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,2:3
4Improving photoreduction of CO2 with water to CH4 in a novel concentrated solar reactor显示文摘CO_2 photoreduction is an attractive process which allows the storage of solar energy and synthesis of solar fuels. Many different photocatalytic systems have been developed, while the alternative photo-reactors are still insufficiently investigated. In this work, photoreduction of CO_2 with H_2O into CH_4 was investigated in a modified concentrating solar reactor, using TiO_2 and Pt/TiO_2 as the catalysts. The TiO_2 and Pt/TiO_2 samples were extensively characterized by different techniques including powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), N_2 adsorption/desorption and UV–vis absorption. The catalytic performance of the TiO_2 and Pt/TiO_2 samples in the gas phase was evaluated under unconcentrated and concentrated Xe-lamp light and nature solar light with different concentrating ratios. Various parameters of the reaction system and the catalysts were investigated and optimized to maximize the catalytic performance of CO_2 reduction system. Compared with the normal light irradiation, the TiO_2 and Pt/TiO_2 samples show higher photocatalytic activity(about 6–7 times) for reducing CO_2 into CH_4 under concentrated Xe-lamp light and nature solar light.
