1Pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome显示文摘Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS)is a common breathing disorder in sleep in which the airways narrow or collapse during sleep,causing obstructive sleep apnea.The prevalence of OSAS continues to rise worldwide,particularly in middle-aged and elderly individuals.The mechanism of upper airway collapse is incompletely understood but is associated with several factors,including obesity,craniofacial changes,altered muscle function in the upper airway,pharyngeal neuropathy,and fluid shifts to the neck.The main characteristics of OSAS are recurrent pauses in respiration,which lead to intermittent hypoxia(IH)and hypercapnia,accompanied by blood oxygen desaturation and arousal during sleep,which sharply increases the risk of several diseases.This paper first briefly describes the epidemiology,incidence,and pathophysiological mechanisms of OSAS.Next,the alterations in relevant signaling pathways induced by IH are systematically reviewed and discussed.For example,IH can induce gut microbiota(GM)dysbiosis,impair the intestinal barrier,and alter intestinal metabolites.These mechanisms ultimately lead to secondary oxidative stress,systemic inflammation,and sympathetic activation.We then summarize the effects of IH on disease pathogenesis,including cardiocerebrovascular disorders,neurological disorders,metabolic diseases,cancer,reproductive disorders,and COVID-19.Finally,different therapeutic strategies for OSAS caused by different causes are proposed.Multidisciplinary approaches and shared decision-making are necessary for the successful treatment of OSAS in the future,but more randomized controlled trials are needed for further evaluation to define what treatments are best for specific OSAS patients.Renjun Lv Xueying Liu Yue Zhang Na Dong Xiao Wang Yao He Hongmei Yue Qingqing Yin 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,6:8

3Allelopathic growth inhibition of Heterosigma akashiwo by the three Ulva spcieces(Ulva Pertusa,Ulva Linza,Enteromorpha intestinalis) under laboratory conditions显示文摘Allelopathic effects of several concentrations of fresh tissue,dry powder and dry tissue of three bloom-forming green macroalgae Ulva pertusa,Ulva linza and Enteromopha intestinalis on the red tide microalga Heterosigma akashiwo were evaluated in microcosms systems.The effects of macroalgae culture medium filtrate were investigated on H.akashiwo using initial or semi-continuous filtrate addition.Preliminary studies on the algicidal effects of one aqueous and four organic solvent extracts from the macroalgae on the microalga were carried out to confirm the existence of allelochemicals in the tissue of these macroalgae.The dry powder of U.pertusa was extracted with methanol,and the methanol extracts were partitioned to petroleum ether phase,ethyl acetate phase,butanol phase and distilled phase by liquid-liquid fractionation.The bioassays of the activity of every fraction were carried out on H.akashiwo.The resultant microcosms assay showed that the growth of H.akashiwo was strongly inhibited by using fresh tissues,dry powder or dry tissue of these three macroalgae,while aqueous and methanol extracts of both macroalgae had strong inhibitory effects on the growth of H.akashiwo,and the EC 50 values for methanol extract of U.pertusa,U.linza or E.intestinalis were 0.016,0.028×10-12 or 0.033×10-12,respectively.While the other three organic solvent extracts(acetone,ether and chloroform) had no apparent effect on its growth,this suggests that the allelochemicals from these three macroalgae had relatively high polarities.The activity of petroleum ether phase,ethyl acetate phase,butanol phase and distilled phase of U.pertusa methanol extract was carried out on H.akashiwo indicating that petroleum ether phase and ethyl acetate phase had stronger algicidal effect on H.akashiwo.The inhibition effect of the ethyl acetate phase was not as strong as that of petroleum ether phase,and effective concentration of petroleum ether phase was 17 mg/L for H.akashiwo.However,no significant algicidal effects were observed on the butanol phase and distilled water phase.These three macroalgae's culture medium filtrate exhibited no apparent growth inhibitory effect on the microalga under initial filtrate addition whereas the growth of H.akashiwo was significantly inhibited under semi-continuous filtrate addition,which suggests that continuous release of small quantities of rapidly degradable allelochemicals from the fresh tissue of both macroalgae was effective in inhibiting the growth of H.akashiwo.WANG Renjun FENG Lei TANG Xuexi WANG Jinhe DONG Shuanglin 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,3:7

5Removal of elemental mercury by photocatalytic oxidation over La_(2)O_(3)/Bi_(2)O_(3)composite显示文摘La_(2)O_(3)/Bi_(2)O_(3)photocatalysts were prepared by impregnation of Bi_(2)O_(3)with an aqueous solution of lanthanum precursor followed by calcination at different temperatures.The composite materials were used for the first time for the photocatalytic removal of Hg~0 from a simulated flue gas under UV light irradiation.The results showed that the sample containing 6 wt.%La_(2)O_(3)and calcined at 500°C has the highest dispersion of the active sites,which was promoted by the strong interaction with the support(i.e.,the formation of Bi-O-La species).Since they are fully accessible on the surface,the material also exhibits excellent optical properties while the heterojunction formed in La_(2)O_(3)/Bi_(2)O_(3)promotes the separation and migration of photoelectron-hole pairs and thus Hg~0 oxidation efficiency is enhanced.The effects of the various factors(e.g.,the reaction temperature and composition of the simulated flue gas(i.e.,O_(2),NO,H_(2)O,and SO_(2)))on the efficiency of the Hg~0 photocatalytic oxidation were investigated.The results demonstrated that O_(2)and SO_(2)enhanced the efficiency of the reaction while the reaction temperature,NO,and H_(2)O had an inhibitory effect.Renjun Li Yanan Zhou Xueqian Wang Langlang Wang Ping Ning Lei Tao Jun Cai 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4:2

7Peptide NGR Modified TiO_(2) Nanofiber Substrate for Circulating Tumor Cells Capture显示文摘The analysis of circulating tumor cells(CTCs)allows a noninvasive method of“real-time liquid biopsy”from the blood samples of cancer patients for the diagnosis of early-stage cancer,prognosis,and monitoring therapeutic response.In this study,we develop a simple,inexpensive,and reliable method that utilizes a small molecule peptide,the asparagine-glycine-arginine(NGR),as a capture probe for the selective enrichment and isolation of circulating tumor cells(CTCs).The multiscale TiO_(2) nanofibers are obtained by electrospinning and calcination.Bovine serum albumin(BSA)is decorated onto TiO_(2) nanofiber surfaces to inhibit non-target cell adhesion,while NGR peptides are conjugated onto the TiO_(2)-BSA surface through the glutaraldehyde(GA)to specifically capture the target cells.The TiO_(2)-BSA-NGR substrate exhibits a high capture sensitivity and efficiency from the mimical blood samples with PC-3 cancer cells as low as 10 cells/mL.The TiO_(2) nanofiber substrate can be a promising strategy for the capture and enumeration of CTCs in cancer progression monitoring.Changchong Chen Zeen Wu Pi Ding Na Sun Hui Liu Yong Chen Zhili Wang Renjun Pei 2020Advanced Fiber Materials2020,2,4:2

10Microbial community coexisting with harmful alga Karenia mikimotoi and microbial control of algal bloom in laboratory显示文摘Algicidal bacteria have been frequently isolated from algal blooming areas.However,knowledge regarding the microbial communities coexisting with microalgae and their potential application in preventing harmful algal blooms(HABs)is limited.In this study,we investigated the composition of the microbial community coexisting with harmful alga Karenia mikimotoi and its responses to algal control via nutrient stimulation or by adding algicidal strain in microcosms.The microorganisms inhabiting the K.mikimotoi culture consisted of 24 identifi ed phyla,including dominant Proteobacteria(relative abundance 76.24%±7.28%)and Bacteroidetes(22.67%±8.32%).Rhodobacteraceae,Phaeodactylibacter,and Maritimibacter predominated during the algal cultivation.Both the added nutrient and fermentation broth of algicidal strain Pseudoalteromonas QF1 caused a massive death of K.mikimotoi and substantial changes in the coexisting microbial community,in which Rhodobacteraceae and Phaeodactylibacter signifi cantly decreased,while Halomonas and Alteromonas increased.Core operational taxonomic units(OTUs)analysis indicated that 13 OTUs belonging to Rhodobacteraceae,Maritimibacter,Marivita,Nisaea,Phaeodactylibacter,Citreicella,Halomonas,Alteromonas,Marinobacter,Muricauda,and Pseudoalteromonas dominated the changes of the microbial communities observed in the K.mikimotoi culture with or without treatments.Collectively,this study indicated that microbial community inhabiting K.mikimotoi culture includes potential algicidal bacteria,and improves our knowledge about microbial community succession during biocontrol of K.mikimotoi via nutrient stimulation or by adding isolated algicidal strains.Li SUN Peike GAO Yu LI Chao WANG Ning DING Junfeng CHEN Yuhao SONG Chunchen LIU Lun SONG Renjun WANG 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,3:1

12Spatiotemporal Variations of Microwave Land Surface Emissivity(MLSE)over China Derived from Four-Year Recalibrated Fengyun 3B MWRI Data显示文摘Microwave Land Surface Emissivity(MLSE)over China under both clear and cloudy sky conditions was retrieved using measurements of recalibrated microwave brightness temperatures(Tbs)from Fengyun-3B Microwave Radiation Imager(FY-3B MWRI),combined with cloud properties derived from Himawari-8 Advanced Himawari Imager(AHI)observations.The contributions from cloud particles and atmospheric gases to the upwelling Tbs at the top of atmosphere were calculated and removed in radiative transfer.The MLSEs at horizontal polarizations at 10.65,18.7,and 36.5 GHz during 7 July 2015 to 30 June 2019 over China showed high values in the southeast vegetated area and low values in the northwest barren,or sparsely vegetated,area.The maximum values were found in the belt area of the Qinling-Taihang Mountains and the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,which is highly consistent with MLSEs derived from AMSR-E.It demonstrates that the measurements of FY-3B MWRI Tbs,including its calibration and validation,are reliable,and the retrieval algorithm developed in this study works well.Seasonal variations of MLSE in China are mainly driven by the combined effects of vegetation,rainfall,and snow cover.In tropical and southern forest regions,the seasonal variation of MLSE is small due to the enhancement from vegetation and the suppression from rainfall.In the boreal area,snow causes a significant decrease of MLSE at 36.5 GHz in winter.Meanwhile,the MLSE at lower frequencies experiences less suppression.In the desert region in Xinjiang,increases of MLSEs at all frequencies are observed with increasing snow cover.Rui LI Jiheng HU Shengli WU Peng ZHANG Husi LETU Yu WANG Xuewen WANG Yuyun FU Renjun ZHOU Ling SUN 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,9:1

14Interaction between Chlorella vulgaris and bacteria:interference and resource competition显示文摘Research of interaction mechanism between Chlorella vulgaris and two bacterial strains(Z-QD08 and Z-QS01)were conducted under laboratory conditions.Growth rates of bacteria and C.vulgaris were tested under co-culture conditions to evaluate the effects of concentrations of C.vulgaris and bacteria on their interactions.To test whether the availability of inorganic nutrients,vitamins and trace metals affects the interactions between C.vulgaris and bacteria,experiments were performed with or without the culture medium filtrate of C.vulgaris or bacteria.The results showed that the growth of C.vulgaris was promoted at low concentrations of bacteria(5×106cells/ml),and expressed a positive correlation with the bacteria density,whereas opposite trend was observed for treatments with high bacteria density(10×106cells/ml and 20×106cells/ml).The growth rate of bacteria decreased with the increasing concentrations of C.vulgaris.The growth of bacteria Z-QD08 was inhibited by C.vulgaris through interference competition,while the mechanism for interaction between bacteria Z-QS01 and C.vulgaris was resource competition.The influence of cell density on the interaction between microalgae and bacteria was also discussed.These experiments confirm some elements of published theory on interactions between heterotrophic bacteria and microalgae and suggest that heterotrophic bacteria play an important role in the development of blooms in natural waters.QU Liang WANG Renjun ZHAO Peng CHEN Ruinan ZHOU Wenli TANG Liuqing TANG Xuexi 2014Acta Oceanologica Sinica2014,33,1:1

16Cement mortar with enhanced flexural strength and durability-related properties using in situ polymerized interpenetration network显示文摘ABSTRACT The low flexural strength and high brittleness of cementitious materials impair their service life in building structures.In this study,we developed a new polymer-modified mortar by in situ polymerization of acrylamide(AM)monomers during the cement setting,which enhanced the flexural and durable performances of mortars.The mechanical properties,micro-and-pore structures,hydrated products,interactions between cement hydrates and polyacrylamide(PAM),and durability-related properties of the mortars were investigated comprehensively.Mortars with 5%PAM exhibited the best performance in terms of flexural strength among all the mixtures.The mechanical strength of cement pastes modified by in situ polymerization of AM monomers was significantly superior to those modified by PAM.The chemical interactions between the polymer molecules and cement hydrates together with the formation of polymer films glued the cement hydrates and polymers and resulted in an interpenetrating network structure,which strengthened the flexural strength.Reductions in porosity and calcium hydroxide content and improvement in capillary water absorption were achieved with the addition of PAM.Finally,the chloride resistance was significantly enhanced with the incorporation of PAM.Qing LIU Renjun LIU Qiao WANG Rui LIANG Zongjin LI Guoxing SUN 2021Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2021,15,1:1
