| 1 | Pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome显示文摘Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS)is a common breathing disorder in sleep in which the airways narrow or collapse during sleep,causing obstructive sleep apnea.The prevalence of OSAS continues to rise worldwide,particularly in middle-aged and elderly individuals.The mechanism of upper airway collapse is incompletely understood but is associated with several factors,including obesity,craniofacial changes,altered muscle function in the upper airway,pharyngeal neuropathy,and fluid shifts to the neck.The main characteristics of OSAS are recurrent pauses in respiration,which lead to intermittent hypoxia(IH)and hypercapnia,accompanied by blood oxygen desaturation and arousal during sleep,which sharply increases the risk of several diseases.This paper first briefly describes the epidemiology,incidence,and pathophysiological mechanisms of OSAS.Next,the alterations in relevant signaling pathways induced by IH are systematically reviewed and discussed.For example,IH can induce gut microbiota(GM)dysbiosis,impair the intestinal barrier,and alter intestinal metabolites.These mechanisms ultimately lead to secondary oxidative stress,systemic inflammation,and sympathetic activation.We then summarize the effects of IH on disease pathogenesis,including cardiocerebrovascular disorders,neurological disorders,metabolic diseases,cancer,reproductive disorders,and COVID-19.Finally,different therapeutic strategies for OSAS caused by different causes are proposed.Multidisciplinary approaches and shared decision-making are necessary for the successful treatment of OSAS in the future,but more randomized controlled trials are needed for further evaluation to define what treatments are best for specific OSAS patients. | Renjun Lv Xueying Liu Yue Zhang Na Dong Xiao Wang Yao He Hongmei Yue Qingqing Yin | 2023 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,6: | 8 |
| 2 | Strength and Stability Analysis of Deep Sea Drilling Risers显示文摘In order to analyze the influence of vortex-induced vibration on the strength and stability of marine drilling risers, a simplified analytical model was established and a method for calculating vortex-induced dynamic response was developed. A case study indicated that at primary resonance, first-order dynamic displacement response is greater than higher-order mode responses, but the influence of dynamic moment and shearing force of higher-order modes cannot be ignored. The natural frequency of risers decreased sharply with increasing length of the riser, but increased with increasing top tension. | 3 | Occurrence of human pathogenic bacteria carrying antibiotic resistance genes revealed by metagenomic approach: A case study from an aquatic environment显示文摘Antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs), human pathogenic bacteria(HPB), and HPB carrying ARGs are public issues that pose a high risk to aquatic environments and public health. Their diversity and abundance in water, intestine, and sediments of shrimp culture pond were investigated using metagenomic approach. A total of 19 classes of ARGs, 52 HPB species, and 7 species of HPB carrying ARGs were found. Additionally, 157, 104, and 86 subtypes of ARGs were detected in shrimp intestine, pond water, and sediment samples, respectively. In all the samples, multidrug resistance genes were the highest abundant class of ARGs. The dominant HPB was Enterococcus faecalis in shrimp intestine, Vibrio parahaemolyticus in sediments, and Mycobacterium yongonense in water, respectively. Moreover, E. faecalis(contig Intestine_364647)and Enterococcus faecium(contig Intestine_80272) carrying efr A, efr B and ANT(6)-Ia were found in shrimp intestine, Desulfosaricina cetonica(contig Sediment_825143) and Escherichia coli(contig Sediment_188430) carrying mex B and APH(3′)-IIa were found in sediments, and Laribacter hongkongensis(contig Water_478168 and Water_369477), Shigella sonnei(contig Water_880246),and Acinetobacter baumannii(contig Water_525520) carrying sul1, sul2, ere A, qac H, OXA-21, and mph D were found in pond water. Mobile genetic elements(MGEs) analysis indicated that horizontal gene transfer(HGT) of integrons, insertion sequences, and plasmids existed in shrimp intestine, sediment, and water samples, and the abundance of integrons was higher than that of other two MGEs. | 8 | Microbial community coexisting with harmful alga Karenia mikimotoi and microbial control of algal bloom in laboratory显示文摘Algicidal bacteria have been frequently isolated from algal blooming areas.However,knowledge regarding the microbial communities coexisting with microalgae and their potential application in preventing harmful algal blooms(HABs)is limited.In this study,we investigated the composition of the microbial community coexisting with harmful alga Karenia mikimotoi and its responses to algal control via nutrient stimulation or by adding algicidal strain in microcosms.The microorganisms inhabiting the K.mikimotoi culture consisted of 24 identifi ed phyla,including dominant Proteobacteria(relative abundance 76.24%±7.28%)and Bacteroidetes(22.67%±8.32%).Rhodobacteraceae,Phaeodactylibacter,and Maritimibacter predominated during the algal cultivation.Both the added nutrient and fermentation broth of algicidal strain Pseudoalteromonas QF1 caused a massive death of K.mikimotoi and substantial changes in the coexisting microbial community,in which Rhodobacteraceae and Phaeodactylibacter signifi cantly decreased,while Halomonas and Alteromonas increased.Core operational taxonomic units(OTUs)analysis indicated that 13 OTUs belonging to Rhodobacteraceae,Maritimibacter,Marivita,Nisaea,Phaeodactylibacter,Citreicella,Halomonas,Alteromonas,Marinobacter,Muricauda,and Pseudoalteromonas dominated the changes of the microbial communities observed in the K.mikimotoi culture with or without treatments.Collectively,this study indicated that microbial community inhabiting K.mikimotoi culture includes potential algicidal bacteria,and improves our knowledge about microbial community succession during biocontrol of K.mikimotoi via nutrient stimulation or by adding isolated algicidal strains. | Li SUN Peike GAO Yu LI Chao WANG Ning DING Junfeng CHEN Yuhao SONG Chunchen LIU Lun SONG Renjun WANG | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,3: | 1 |

| 10 | Cement mortar with enhanced flexural strength and durability-related properties using in situ polymerized interpenetration network显示文摘ABSTRACT The low flexural strength and high brittleness of cementitious materials impair their service life in building structures.In this study,we developed a new polymer-modified mortar by in situ polymerization of acrylamide(AM)monomers during the cement setting,which enhanced the flexural and durable performances of mortars.The mechanical properties,micro-and-pore structures,hydrated products,interactions between cement hydrates and polyacrylamide(PAM),and durability-related properties of the mortars were investigated comprehensively.Mortars with 5%PAM exhibited the best performance in terms of flexural strength among all the mixtures.The mechanical strength of cement pastes modified by in situ polymerization of AM monomers was significantly superior to those modified by PAM.The chemical interactions between the polymer molecules and cement hydrates together with the formation of polymer films glued the cement hydrates and polymers and resulted in an interpenetrating network structure,which strengthened the flexural strength.Reductions in porosity and calcium hydroxide content and improvement in capillary water absorption were achieved with the addition of PAM.Finally,the chloride resistance was significantly enhanced with the incorporation of PAM. | Qing LIU Renjun LIU Qiao WANG Rui LIANG Zongjin LI Guoxing SUN | 2021 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2021,15,1: | 1 |
