Recent Developments in Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Power Plants显示文摘Global concern for depleting fossil fuel reserves have been compelling for evolving power generation options using renewable energy sources. The solar energy happens to be a potential source for running the power plants among renewable energy sources. Integrated Solar Combined Cycle(ISCC) power plants have gained popularity among the thermal power plants. Traditional ISCC power plants use Direct Steam Generation(DSG) approach. However, with the DSG method, the ISCC plant’s overall thermal efficiency does not increase significantly due to variations in the availability of solar energy. Thermal Energy Storage(TES) systems when integrated into the solar cycle can address such issues related to energy efficiency, process flexibility, reducing intermittency during non-solar hours. This review work focuses and discusses the developments in various components of the ISCC system including its major cycles and related parameters. The main focus is on CSP technologies, Heat Transfer Fluid(HTF), and Phase Change Material(PCM) used for thermal energy storage. Further, study includes heat enhancement methods with HTF and latent heat storage system. This study will be beneficial to the power plant professionals intending to modify the solar-based Combined Cycle Power Plant(CCPP) and to retrofit the existing Natural Gas Combined Cycle(NGCC) plant with the advanced solar cycle. | KHANDELWAL Neelam SHARMA Meeta SINGH Onkar SHUKLA Anoop Kumar | 2020 | Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,2: | 4
A systematic review on the aboveground biomass and carbon stocks of Indian forest ecosystems显示文摘Background:Tropical forests play a crucial role as source and sink in global carbon cycle.Development and other anthropogenic activities have led to degradation of forest land, and ultimately,it results in loss of biodiversity and increases concentration of CO_(2) in atmospheres. Therefore, there is urgent need to estimate regional and national level carbon stock for making forest-based policies and strategies for mitigation of CO_(2).Patchy and sporadic information is available on biomass and carbon stock of Indian forests. The paper presents a systematic review and comprehensive account of studies conducted in different forest types in India.Result:There are six major forest types found in India consisting of 15 groups and other subgroups with peculiar characteristics.Methodologies used by researchers for biomass/carbon stock estimation are destructive, nondestructive, tree inventories data,species-specific biomass estimation, and remote sensing.Majority of estimates are based on nondestructive allometric equation approach.Studies showed positive correlation between tree species, diameter at breast height, and biomass/carbon stock.Small-and medium-sized growing trees, invasive species, mixed forest,Agroforestry, and Agrosilviculture also play an important role in atmospheric carbon assimilation. The results of diverse forest carbon stock studies are broadly categorized in North,Central, and Southern India.Present review will be helpful for developing conservation policies and decision to increase carbon stock and also REDD+program for particular forest ecosystem. Conclusion:The systematic literature review was carried out to gather and summarize information from different studies conducted on forest ecosystems and quantification methods used for biomass estimation and carbon stock in different forests types and states of India. In general, great variability occurs in aboveground biomass and carbon stock on account of climatic and geographic differences. To obtain good and accurate estimations, following nondestructive approach,species-specific density-based equations are required from different habitats and also in relation to degradation status of forests. As such regional volume equations would increase error of estimations. The comprehensive account of data would be helpful to formulate strategies based on carbon sequestration in Indian forests for CO_(2) mitigation. | Onkar Salunkhe P.K.Khare Richa Kumari M.L.Khan | 2018 | Ecological Processes2018,7,1: | 4
Revealing Genetic Relationship and Prospecting of Novel Donors Among Upland Rice Genotypes Using qDTY-Linked SSR Markers显示文摘A total of 17 simple sequence repeat(SSR) markers linked to QTLs(qDTYs) governing grain yield under reproductive stage(RS) drought stress were used to assess the genetic relationship and prospecting new donors for q DTYs among 32 popular upland rice genotypes. These SSR markers generated a total of 36 alleles with an average allele count of 2.1 per locus. Polymorphic information content value of the markers ranged from 0.376 to 0.662 with an average value of 0.484. The expected heterozyogosity ranged from 0.381 to 0.632. STRUCTURE analysis divided the 32 genotypes into three sub-populations. Subsequent phenotyping revealed that all the tolerant genotypes were grouped into one sub-population, whereas the moderately tolerant and susceptible genotypes were grouped into separate sub-populations. Phylogenetic tree constructed by the unweighted neighbour-joining method also divided the genotypes into three clusters. The grouping pattern of genotypes into the clusters was similar to that into the STRUCTURE analysis, on the basis of drought tolerance level. The average value of genetic dissimilarity coefficient among the genotypes was observed to be 0.486. Furthermore, by combining genotyping data with phenotyping data, 16 new donors for 6 qDTYs were identified. | Mitadru MUKHERJEE Barada PADHY Bharathkumar SRINIVASAN Pradosh MAHADANI Sk Yasin BAKSH Ravindra DONDE Onkar Nath SINGH Lambodar BEHERA Padmini SWAIN Sushanta Kumar DASH | 2018 | Rice science2018,25,6: | 2

PARALLEL ADAPTIVE SIMULATION OF A PLUNGING LIQUID JET显示文摘This paper is concerned with three-dimensional numerical simulation of a plunging liquid jet.The transient processes of forming an air cavity around the jet, capturing an initially large air bubble, and the break-up of this large toroidal-shaped bubble into smaller bubbles were analyzed.A stabilized finite element method(FEM)was employed under parallel numerical simulations based on adaptive, unstructured grid and coupled with a level-set method to track the interface between air and liquid. These simulations show that the inertia of the liquid jet initially depresses the pool's surface, forming an annular air cavity which surrounds the liquid jet.A toroidal liquid eddy which is subsequently formed in the liquid pool results in air cavity collapse, and in turn entrains air into the liquid pool from the unstable annular air gap region around the liquid jet. | Azat Yu.Galimov Onkar Sahni Richard T.Lahey Jr. Mark S.Shephard Donald A.Drew Kenneth E.Jansen | 2010 | Acta Mathematica Scientia2010,30,2: | 2

Dry/wet snow mapping based on the synergistic use of dual polarimetric SAR and multispectral data显示文摘We propose a multi-sensor multi-spectral and bi-temporal dual-polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) data integration scheme for dry/wet snow mapping using Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 data which are freely available to the research community. The integration is carried out by incorporating the information retrieved from ratio images of the conventional method for wet snow mapping and the multispectral data in two different frameworks. Firstly, a simple differencing scheme is employed for dry/wet snow mapping, where the snow cover area is derived using the Normalized Differenced Snow Index(NDSI). In the second framework, the ratio images are stacked with the multispectral bands and this stack is used for supervised and unsupervised classification using support vector machines for dry/wet snow mapping. We also investigate the potential of a state of the art backscatter model for the identification of dry/wet snow using Sentinel-1 data. The results are validated using a reference map derived from RADARSAT-2 full polarimetric SAR data. A good agreement was observed between the results and the reference data with an overall accuracy greater than 0.78 for the different blending techniques examined. For all the proposed frameworks, the wet snow was better identified. The coefficient of determination between the snow wetness derived from the backscatter model and the reference based on RADARSAT-2 data was observed to be 0.58 with a significantly higher root mean square error of 1.03 % by volume. | Divyesh VARADE Onkar DIKSHIT Surendar MANICKAM | 2019 | Journal of Mountain Science2019,16,6: | 1
