| 1 | Pharmacognostic study and anti-inflammatory activity of Callistemon lanceolatus leaf显示文摘Objective:To study detail pharmacognosy and anti-inflammatory activity of Callistemon lanceolatus(C.lanceolatus) leaf.Methods:Leaf sample was studied by organoleptic, macroscopical,microscopical,phytochemical and other WHO recommended methods for standardizations.The methanolic leaf extract of the plant was also screened for antiinflammatory activity on carrageenan-induced paw edema in rat at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg, orally.The detail pharmacognostic study of the C.lanceolatus leaf was carried out to lay down the standards which could be useful in future experimental studies.Results:C.lanceolatus methanolic leaf extract showed significant(P<0.0S) anti-inflammatory activity at doses of 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg.This significant anti-inflammatory of C.lanceolatus methanolic leaf extract at the dose of 400 mg/kg was comparable with diclofenac sodium.Conchuioiis:The pharmacognostic profile of the C.lanceolatus leaf is helpful in standardization for quality,purity and sample identification.The methanolic extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg shows a significant activity in comparison with the standard drug diclofenac sodium(50 mg/kg). | Kumar S Kumar V Prakash OM | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,3: | 10 |
| 2 | Characterization of chickpea germplasm conserved in the Indian National Genebank and development of a core set using qualitative and quantitative trait data显示文摘Chickpea is the third most important pulse crop as a source of dietary protein. Ever-increasing demand in Asian countries calls for breeding superior desi-type varieties, in turn necessitating the availability of characterized germplasm to breeders. The Indian National Genebank,located at the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi, conserves 14,651 accessions of chickpea. The entire set was characterized in a single large-scale experiment.High variation was observed for eight quantitative and 12 qualitative agro-morphological traits. Allelic richness procedure was employed to assemble a core set comprising 1103 accessions, 70.0% of which were of Indian origin. Comparable values of total variation explained by the first three principal components in the entire collection(51.1%) and the core(52.4%)together with conservation of nine pairwise r values among quantitative traits in the core collection and a coincidence rate around 99.7% indicated that the chickpea core was indeed an excellent representation of the entire chickpea collection in the National Genebank. The chickpea core exhibited greater diversity than the entire collection in agro-morphological traits, as assessed by higher variance and Shannon–Weaver diversity indices, indicating that the chickpea core maximized the phenotypic diversity available in the Indian chickpea germplasm. The chickpea core, comprising mainly indigenous desi genotypes, is expected to be an excellent resource for chickpea breeders. | 3 | Role of angiotensin converting enzyme and angiotensinogen gene polymorphisms in angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor-mediated antiproteinuric action in type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients显示文摘AIM To investigate the role of genetic variants of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) and angiotensinogen(AGT) genes in the antiproteinuric efficacy of ACE inhibitor therapy in diabetic nephropathy(DN) patients.METHODS In the present study, 270 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with nephropathy were enrolled and treated with ACE inhibitor(ramipril) and followed at 6 mo for renal function and albumin excretion by estimating serum creatinine, end stage renal disease, and albumin/creatinine ratio(ACR) in urine. Genotyping of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms were performed by using primer specific polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and PCR-RFLP techniques, respectively. RESULTS Forty-eight percent of DN patients(responders) benefited with respect to proteinuria from ACE inhibitor therapy at 6 mo follow-up. A significant reduction in ACR was observed after 6 mo treatment with ACE inhibitor irrespective of whether DN patients were micro-albuminuric(≥ 30 and < 300 mg/g creatinine) or macro-albuminuric(≥ 300 mg/g creatinine) at the time of enrollment. However, macro-albuminuric patients(55%) showed better response to therapy. A reduction in urinary ACR was found independent of genotypes of ACE I/D and AGT M235 T polymorphisms although macro-albuminuric patients having TT genotype showed statistically insignificant increased response(72%). | 4 | Antidiabetic,hypolipidemic and histopathological analysis of Dillenia indica (L.) leaves extract on alloxan induced diabetic rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate antidiabetic,hypolipidemic histopathological analysis of Dillenia indica(D.indica) methanolic leaves(DIME) extract in alloxan induced diabetic rat by administering oral doses(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight).Methods:Blood glucose levels were measured using blood glucose test strips with elegance glucometer on weekly intervals till the end of study(i.e.3 weeks).Other parameters e.g.liver profile,renal profile and total lipid levels were determined in normal and alloxan induced diabetic rats after oral administration of the extract for 21 days.Histopathological changes in diabetic rat organs(pancreas,liver and kidney) were also observed after extract treatment Results:Daily oral administration DIME(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight) and glibenclamide(10 mg/kg) showed beneficial effects on blood glucose level (P<0.001) as well as improving kidney,liver functions and hyperlipidaemia due to diabetes. The extract treatment also showed to enhanced serum insulin level and body weight of diabetic rats as compared to diabetic control group.Furthermore,the extract has a favorable effect on the histopathological changes of the pancreas,liver and kidney in alloxan induced diabetes. | 10 | Effect of potassium on soil conservation and productivity of maize/cowpea based crop rotations in the north-west Indian Himalayas显示文摘Plots under conservation tillage may require higher amount of potassium(K) application for augmenting productivity due to its stratification in upper soil layers, thereby reducing K supplying capacity in a medium or long-term period. To test this hypothesis, a field experiment was performed in 2002-2003 and 2006-2007 to study the effect of K and several crop rotations on yield, water productivity, carbon sequestration, grain quality, soil K status and economic benefits derived in maize(Zea mays L)/cowpea(Vigna sinensis L.) based cropping system under minimum tillage(MT). All crops recorded higher grain yield with a higher dose of K(120 kg K2 O ha-1) than recommended K(40 kg K2 O ha-1). The five years' average yield data showed that higher K application(120 kg K2 O ha-1) produced 16.4%(P<0.05)more maize equivalent yield. Cowpea based rotation yielded 14.2%(P<0.05) higher production than maize based rotation. The maximum enhancement was found in cowpea-mustard rotation. Relationship between yield and sustainable indices revealed that only agronomic efficiency of fertilizer input was significantly correlated with yield. Similarly, higherdoses of K application not only increased the water use efficiency(WUE) of all crops, but also reduced runoff and soil loss by 16.5% and 15.8% under maize and 23.3% and 19.7% under cowpea cover, respectively. This study also revealed that on an average 16.5% of left over carbon input contributed to soil organic carbon(SOC). Here, cowpea based rotation with the higher K application increased carbon sequestration in soil. Potassium fertilization also significantly improved the nutritional value of harvested grain by increasing the protein content for maize(by 9.5%) and cowpea(by 10.6%). The oil content in mustard increased by 5.0% and 6.0% after maize and cowpea, respectively. Net return also increased with the application of the higher K than recommended K and the trend was similar to yield. Hence, the present study demonstrated the potential yield and profit gains along with resource conservation in the Indian Himalayas due to annual additions of higher amount of K than the recommended dose. | 12 | BISAP评分与Ranson评分和CT严重指数预测印度急性胰腺炎患者并发症发生率和病死率的比较研究显示文摘目的:本研究通过印度中东部地区一家三甲医院,前瞻性评估急性胰腺炎严重度床边指数(BISAP)评分预测急性胰腺炎患者病死率及疾病进展中间指标的准确性,从而为贫困人群提供一个经济、有效的预后预测方法。方法:2012-2014年间我们中心连续收治的119例急性胰腺炎患者纳入研究。起病24 h内对所有病例进行BISAP评分,同时也进行Ranson评分和CT严重指数(CTSI)评估。采用趋势和判别分析来对这三种评分系统对病死率的预测价值进行评价。通过受试者操作特征(ROC)曲线评估这三种评分系统对急性胰腺炎患者病死率及疾病进展中间指标(器官衰竭和胰腺坏死)的预测情况。结果:119例入组病例中42例(35.2%)出现器官衰竭,定义为重症急性胰腺炎,47例(39.5%)发生胰腺坏死,12例(10.1%)死亡。BISAP评分预测重症急性胰腺炎、胰腺坏死和死亡的曲线下面积(AUC)分别为0.962、0.934和0.846。Ranson评分预测重症急性胰腺炎(AUC 0.956)和死亡(AUC 0.841)的准确性稍低于BISAP评分。CTSI在预测胰腺坏死方面的准确性最高,AUC为0.958。以≥3分作为截点,BISAP评分预测病死率的敏感性和特异性分别为100%和69.2%。结论:BISAP评分简单实用,在急性胰腺炎起病24 h内即可鉴别出高危死亡风险及高危疾病进展风险的患者。这种风险分层方法可用以提高临床诊治,并有助于临床研究中的病例入组。 | Jitin Yadav Sanjay Kumar Yadav Satish Kumar Ranjan George Baxla Dipendra Kumar Sinha Pankaj Bodra Ram Chandra Besra Babu Mani Baski Om Prakash Abhinav Anand | 2016 | Gastroenterology Report2016,4,3: | 2 |
