1Multi-modality imaging review of congenital abnormalities of kidney and upper urinary tract显示文摘Congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract(CAKUT) include a wide range of abnormalities ranging from asymptomatic ectopic kidneys to life threatening renal agenesis(bilateral). Many of them are detected in the antenatal or immediate postnatal with a significant proportion identified in the adult population with varying degree of severity. CAKUT can be classified on embryological basis in to abnormalities in the renal parenchymal development, aberrant embryonic migration and abnormalities of the collecting system. Renal parenchymal abnormalities include multi cystic dysplastic kidneys, renal hypoplasia, number(agenesis or supernumerary), shape and cystic renal diseases. Aberrant embryonic migration encompasses abnormal location and fusion anomalies. Collecting system abnormalities include duplex kidneys and Pelvi ureteric junction obstruction. Ultrasonography(US) is typically the first imaging performed as it is easily available, noninvasive and radiation free used both antenatally and postnatally. Computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) are useful to confirm the ultrasound detected abnormality, detection of complex malformations, demonstration of collecting system and vascular anatomy and more importantly for early detection of complications like renal calculi, infection and malignancies. 2卵巢癌与宫颈癌合并血栓栓塞性疾病临床特点分析显示文摘目的:对比分析上皮性卵巢癌患者与宫颈鳞状细胞癌患者发生静脉血栓栓塞(VTE)的临床特征,分析其高危因素,为其临床预防及诊治提供参考。方法:回顾性分析我院收治的上皮性卵巢癌患者(n=147例)及宫颈鳞状细胞癌患者(n=149例)的临床资料,对比分析两组患者VTE发生临床特点的差异,尤其是化疗及围手术期对VTE发生的影响,单因素回归分析VTE发生的高危因素。结果:卵巢癌患者的VTE发生率高于宫颈癌患者(13.6%vs 7.4%,P=0.08),但无统计学意义。卵巢癌患者与宫颈癌患者VTE的发生具有不同特点,卵巢癌患者VTE多发生于初步诊断时(65% vs 9.1%,P=0.003),而宫颈癌患者VTE多发生于手术后(81.8%vs 25%,P=0.006)。两组患者新辅助化疗期间VTE发生率(10% vs 0%,P=0.53)以及术后辅助化疗期间VTE发生率(0%vs 9.1%,P=0.354)均无显著差异。多数患者合并的VTE均为下肢静脉血栓,仅1例卵巢癌患者发生肺栓塞。单因素分析发现卵巢癌患者绝经后状态(17.9% vs 5.8%,P=0.045)为VTE发生的高危因素。结论:卵巢癌患者与宫颈癌患者VTE发生特点存在显著差异。卵巢癌患者易自发发生VTE,宫颈癌患者VTE多于手术后发生。卵巢癌患者与宫颈癌患者合并VTE的总发病率无统计学差异。化疗不增加两组患者VTE的发生率。Chavan Devendra 黄珍 孙丽萍 姚舒 宋坤 2016现代妇产科进展2016,25,2:11
3Role of Moringa oleifera in regulation of diabetes-induced oxidative stress显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the antioxidant activity of aqueous extract of Atoringa oleifeta M.oleifera) young leaves by in vivo as well as in vitro assays.Methods:In vitro study included estimation of total phenolic,total ilavonol,total flavonoid and total antioxidant power(FRAP assay).Tn addition, in vivo study was done with the identified most effective dose of 200 nig/kg of its lyophilized powder on normal and diabetic rats.Its effect on different oxidative free radical scavenging enzymes,viz,superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),glutathione-S-transferase(GST),lipid peroxide(LPO) contents were measured.Results:Significant increase in activities of SOD.CAT, GST while,a decrease in LPO content was observed.Whereas,total phenolic,flavonoid and ilavonol contents in the extract were found to be 120 mg/g of CAK,40.5 mg/g of QEK and 12.12 mg/g of QE,respectively.On the other hand.FRAP assay results of M.oleifera leaves was(85.00±5.00)μM of Fe^+/g of extract powder.Conclusions:The significant antioxidant activities of M.oleifera leaves from both in vivo as well as in vitro studies suggests that the regular intake of its leaves through diet can protect normal as well as diabetic patients against oxidative damage.Dolly Jaiswal Prashant Kumar Rai Shikha Mehta Sanjukta Chatterji Surekha Shukla Devendra Kumar Rai Gaurav Sharma Bechan Sharma Shahidul khair Geeta Watal 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,6:11

5Alcohol dehydrogenase: A potential new marker for diagnosis of intestinal ischemia using rat as a model显示文摘AIM: Intestinal ischemia (Ii) is an abdominal emergency due to blockade of the superior mesenteric artery resulting in 60-100% mortality if diagnosed late. Changes in several biochemical parameters such as D (-)-lactate, Creatinine kinase isoenzymes and lactate dehydrogenase suggested for early diagnosis, lack specificity and sensitivity. Therefore a biochemical parameter with greater sensitivity needs to be identified.METHODS: Wistar male rats were randomly assigned into two groups; control sham operated (n = 24) and ischemic test (n = 24) group. Superior mesenteric arterial occlusion was performed in the ischemic test group for 1 h. Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) was estimated in blood from portal vein, right ventricle of heart, dorsal aorta (DA) and inferior vena cava (IVC). The Serum glutamic acid pyruvate transaminase (SGPT) was also estimated in blood from portal vein and right ventricle of heart.RESULTS: A significant increase (P<0.001) in the levels of ADH in both portal blood as well as heart blood of the test group (232.72±99.45 EU and 250.85±95.14 EU, respectively)as compared to the control group (46.39±21.69 EU and 65.38±30.55 EU, respectively) were observed. Similarly,increased levels of ADH were observed in blood samples withdrawn from DA and IVC in test animals (319.52±80.14EU and 363.90±120.68 EU, respectively) as compared to the control group (67.68±63.22 EU and 72.50±58.45 EU,respectively). However, in test animals there was significant increase in SGPT in portal blood (P = 0.054) without much increase in heart blood.CONCLUSION: Significant increase in the levels of ADH in portal and heart blood within 1 h of SMA occlusion without increase in SGPT in heart blood, suggests that the origin of ADH is from ischemic intestine and not from liver. Similarly, raised ADH levels were found in DA and IVC as well. IVC blood does represent peripheral blood sample. 6Comparison of split-dosing vs non-split(morning) dosing regimen for assessment of quality of bowel preparation for colonoscopy显示文摘AIM: To compare(using the Ottawa Bowel Preparation Scale) the efficacy of split-dose vs morning administration of polyethylene glycol solution for colon cleansing in patients undergoing colonoscopy, and to assess the optimal preparation-to-colonoscopy interval.METHODS: Single-centre, prospective, randomized, investigator-blind stud in an academic tertiarycare centre. Two hundred patients requiring elective colonoscopy were assigned to receive one of the two preparation regimens(split vs morning) prior to colonoscopy. Main outcome measurements were bowel preparation quality and patient tolerability.RESULTS: Split-dose regimen resulted in better bowel preparation compared to morning regimen [Ottawascore mean 5.52(SD 1.23) vs 6.02(1.34); P = 0.017]. On subgroup analysis, for afternoon procedures, both the preparations were equally effective(P = 0.756). There was no difference in tolerability and compliance between the two regimens.CONCLUSION: Overall, previous evening- same morning split-dosing regimen results in better bowel cleansing for colonoscopy compared to morning preparation. 7Colorectal cancers in ulcerative colitis from a low-prevalence area for colon cancer显示文摘AIM: To determine the incidence and risk factors for colorectal cancer(CRC) in patients with ulcerative colitis from a low prevalence region for CRC.METHODS: Our prospective database yielded a cohort of 430 patients [age: 44 ± 14.6 years; 248 men(57.7%)] with ulcerative colitis(median disease duration 6, range: 1-39 years) for analysis. Of these, 131(30.5%) had left-sided colitis and 159(37%) extensive colitis. Patients with histologically confirmed CRC within the segment with colitis were compared with those without CRC, to determine the risk factors for the development of CRC.RESULTS: Twelve patients(2.8%) developed CRC. The overall incidence density was 3.56/1000 patient-years of disease- 3/1000 in the first 10 years, 3.3/1000 at 10 to 20 years, and 7/1000 at > 20 years. Three of our 12 patients developed CRC within 8 years of disease onset. On univariate analysis, extensive colitis, longer duration of disease, and poor control of disease were associated with development of CRC. 8Brain injury and neural stem cells显示文摘Many therapies with potential for treatment of brain injury have been investigated. Few types of cells have spurred as much interest and excitement as stem cells over the past few decades. The multipotentiality and self-renewing characteristics of stem cells confer upon them the capability to regenerate lost tissue in ischemic or degenerative conditions as well as trauma. While stem cells have not yet proven to be clinically effective in many such conditions as was once hoped, they have demonstrated some effects that could be manipulated for clinical benefit. The various types of stem cells have similar characteristics, and largely differ in terms of origin; those that have differentiated to some extent may exhibit limited capability in differentiation potential. 9Lead Induced Oxidative Stress: Beneficial Effects of Kombucha Tea显示文摘To evaluate the effect of oral administration of Kombucha tea (K-tea) on lead induced oxidative stress. Methods Sprague Dawley rats were administered 1 mL of 3.8% lead acetate solution daily alone or in combination with K-tea orally for 45 d, and the antioxidant status and lipid peroxidation were evaluated. Results Oral administration of lead acetate to rats enhanced lipid peroxidation and release of creatine phosphokinase and decreased levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) and antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, SOD and glutathione peroxidase, GPx). Lead treatment did not alter humoral immunity, but inhibited DTH response when compared to the control.Lead administration also increased DNA fragmentation in liver. Oral administration of Kombucha tea to rats exposed to lead decreased lipid peroxidation and DNA damage with a concomitant increase in the reduced glutathione level and GPx activity. Kombucha tea supplementation relieved the lead induced immunosuppression to appreciable levels. 10Dam-break Flood Simulation under Various Likely Scenarios and Mapping Using GIS:Case of a Proposed Dam on River Yamuna,India显示文摘The precision modeling of dam break floods can lead to formulation of proper emergency action plan to minimize flood impacts within the economic lifetime of the assets.Application of GIS techniques in integration with hydrological modeling for mapping of the flood inundated areas can play a momentous role in further minimizing the risk and likely damages.In the present study,dam break analysis using DAMBRK model was performed under various likely scenarios.Probable Maximum Flood (PMF)calculated for a return period of 1000 years using deterministic approach was adopted for dam break analysis of the proposed dam under various combinations of breach dimensions.The available downstream river cross-sections data sets were used as input in the model to generate the downstream flood profile.Dam break flow depths generated by the DAMBRK model under various combinations of structural failure are subsequently plotted on Digital Elevation Model(DEM)of the downstream of dam site to map the likely affected area.The simulation results reveals that in one particular case the flood without dam may be more intense if a rainfall of significant intensity takes place.Mahendra S.LODHI Devendra K.AGRAWAL 2012Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,2:6

12Effect of sample size on the fluid flow through a single fractured granitoid显示文摘Most of deep geological engineered structures,such as rock caverns,nuclear waste disposal repositories,metro rail tunnels,multi-layer underground parking,are constructed within hard crystalline rocks because of their high quality and low matrix permeability.In such rocks,fluid flows mainly through fractures.Quantification of fractures along with the behavior of the fluid flow through them,at different scales,becomes quite important.Earlier studies have revealed the influence of sample size on the confining stress-permeability relationship and it has been demonstrated that permeability of the fractured rock mass decreases with an increase in sample size.However,most of the researchers have employed numerical simulations to model fluid flow through the fracture/fracture network,or laboratory investigations on intact rock samples with diameter ranging between 38 mm and 45 cm and the diameter-to-length ratio of 1:2 using different experimental methods.Also,the confining stress,σ_3,has been considered to be less than 30 MPa and the effect of fracture roughness has been ignored.In the present study,an extension of the previous studies on 'laboratory simulation of flow through single fractured granite' was conducted,in which consistent fluid flow experiments were performed on cylindrical samples of granitoids of two different sizes(38 mm and 54 mm in diameters),containing a 'rough walled single fracture'.These experiments were performed under varied confining pressure(σ_3=5-40 MPa),fluid pressure(f_p ≤25 MPa),and fracture roughness.The results indicate that a nonlinear relationship exists between the discharge,Q,and the effective confining pressure,σ_(eff),and Q decreases with an increase in σ_(eff).Also,the effects of sample size and fracture roughness do not persist when σ_(eff)≥ 20 MPa.It is expected that such a study will be quite useful in correlating and extrapolating the laboratory scale investigations to in-situ scale and further improving theoretical/numerical models associated with fluid flow through rock masses.Kunal Kumar Singh Devendra Narain Singh Ranjith Pathegama Gamage 2016Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,3:5
13Application of hopcalite catalyst for controlling carbon monoxide emission at cold-start emission conditions显示文摘Carbon monoxide(CO) is a poisonous gas particularly to all leaving being present in the atmosphere.An estimate has shown that the vehicular exhaust contributes the largest source of CO pollution in developed countries.Due to the exponentially increasing number of automobile vehicles on roads,CO concentrations have reached an alarming level in urban areas.To control this vehicular exhaust pollution,the end-of-pipe-technology using catalytic converters is recommended.The catalysts operating efficiently in a catalytic converter are a challenging class of materials for applications in cold start of engines to maintain indoor air quality.In the cold start period,the catalytic converter was entirely inactive,because the catalytic converter had not been warmed up.The cold start phase is also depending upon the characteristics of vehicles and property of catalysts.The increasing cost of noble metals with the increasing number of vehicles motivates the investigation of material concepts to reduce the precious metal content in automotive catalysts or to find a substitute for noble metals.Hopcalite(CuMnOx) catalyst could work very well at the low temperature;thus,it can overcome the problem of cold-start emissions if used in a catalytic converter.Further,low cost,easy availability and advanced synthesis methods with stabilizer,promoter,etc.,advocates for the use of hopcalite as an auto exhaust purification catalyst.Although there are numerous research articles present on this topic until now,no review has been presented for demanding this issue.So there is a space in this area,and it has been made an attempt to seal this hole and progress the future scope for hopcalite catalyst for purification of exhaust gases by this review.Subhashish Dey Ganesh Chandra Dhal Devendra Mohan Ram Prasad 2019Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2019,6,5:3

15Dual split and dislocation——a variant of Schatzker type-I tibial plateau fracture: A case report显示文摘Schatzkter type-I tibial plateau fracture is a split fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in sagittal plane,consequent to valgus impaction caused by low velocity of trauma.However,a deep understanding of the different columns of the tibial plateau and patho-mechanisms of the injury led to the unmasking of atypical fractures around the tibial plateau.We have encountered 2 cases with unusual fracture pattern of the lateral tibial condyle caused by road traffic accidents.The fracture pattern and severity of injury deviate from the original description of Schatzker type 1;in view of dual plane split,there is rotation of the posterolateral column fragment along its sagittal plane plus grade-III medial collateral ligament injury.The patients were initially treated with knee spanning external fixator and after a latency of 5 days,definitive fracture specific fixation was done,combined with repair of grade-III medial collateral ligament injury.At the 6 months follow-up both the patients achieved satisfactory knee functions(knee society score case 1:100 and case 2:92)and returned to their jobs.The severity of fracture pattern and displacement as described should prompt for examination of associated ligament injury.Because of timely diagnosis,early and appropriate care promised an excellent function outcome even in such a severe nature of knee injury.To prompt the description of injury pattern we coined the name'dual split and dislocation'of lateral tibial plateau,as a complex injury variant of split fracture of lateral tibial plateau fracture.Devendra Kumar Chouhan Aman Hooda 2022Chinese Journal of Traumatology2022,25,1:3

17Multiple bilateral lower limb fractures in a 2-year-old child: previously unreported injury with a unique mechanism显示文摘Fall from height is a common cause of unintentional injuries in children and accounts for 6% of all trauma-related childhood deaths, usually from head injury. We report a case of a 2-year-old child with multiple fractures of the bilateral lower limbs due to this reason. A child fell from a height of around 15 feet after toppling from a balcony. He developed multiple fractures involving the right femoral shaft, right distal femoral epiphysis (Salter Harris type 2), right distal metaphysis of the tibia and fibula, and undisplaced Salter Harris type 2 epiphyseal injury of the left distal tibia. There were no head, abdominal or spinal injuries. The patient was taken into emergency operation theatre after initial management which consisted of intravenous fluids, blood transfusion, and splintage of both lower limbs. Fracture of the femoral shaft was treated by closed reduction and fixation using two titanium elastic nails. Distal femoral physeal injury required open reduction and fixation with K wires. Distal tibia fractures were closely reduced and managed nonoperatively in both the lower limbs. All the fractures united in four weeks. At the last follow-up, the child had no disability and was able to perform daily activities comfortably. 18FDTD based transition time dependent crosstalk analysis for coupled RLC interconnects显示文摘The performance of high density chips operating in the GHz range is mostly affected by on-chip interconnects. The interconnect delay depends on many factors, a few of them are inputs toggling patterns, line &coupling parasitics, input rise/fall time and source/load characteristics. The transition time of the input is of prime importance in high speed circuits. This paper addresses the FDTD based analysis of transition time effects on functional and dynamic crosstalk. The analysis is carried out for equal and unequal transition times of coupled inputs.The analysis of the effects of unequal rise time is equally important because practically, it is quite common to have mismatching in the rise time of the signals transmitting through different length wires. To demonstrate the effects,two distributed RLC lines coupled inductively and capacitively are taken into consideration. The FDTD technique is used because it gives accurate results and carries time domain analysis of coupled lines. The number of lumps in SPICE simulations is considered the same as those of spatial segments. To validate the FDTD computed results,SPICE simulations are run and results are compared. A good agreement of the computed results has been observed with respect to SPICE simulated results. 19Probing the degradation of pharmaceuticals in urine using MFC and studying their removal efficiency by UPLC-MS/MS显示文摘Nutrient recovery from source-separated human urine has attracted interest as it is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus that can be utilized as fertilizer.However,urine also contains pharmaceuticals,steroid hormones,etc.and their removal is crucial as they have detrimental effects on the environment and human health.The current study focuses on investigating the degradation of pharmaceuticals using a double-chamber microbial fuel cell(MFC).Urine was spiked with four pharmaceuticals(trimethoprim,lamivudine,levofloxacin,and estrone)at a concentration of 2 mg/mL.The MFC was operated for 7 months in batch mode with this spiked urine as feed.The degradation efficiency of the MFC was studied,for which a selective liquid chromatography-tandem mass-spectrometric method was developed for the quantitation of compounds used in the spiking experiments and was validated with a lower limit of quantification of 0.39 ng/mL.The maximum removal rate achieved was 96%±2%.The degradation mechanism involved processes like sorption and anoxic biodegradation.The voltage curve obtained showed that the presence of pharmaceuticals had an initial negative impact on power generation along with increased organic content;however,after the reactor acclimatization,increased power output was achieved with maximum organics removal at 30 h of retention time.This work opens a new perspective for the anoxic biodegradation of pharmaceuticals and can be useful in future bioremediation studies.Priya Sharma Devendra Kumar Srikanth Mutnuri 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,3:2
