| 1 | Trends in Lipids Level and Dyslipidemia among Chinese Adults, 2002-2015显示文摘Objective To investigate the trends of lipid profiles and dyslipidemia among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Methods Data were collected from three nationally representative cross-sectional surveys.Fasting venous blood samples were collected and serum lipids were tested by biochemical analysis and enzymatic determination.Lipid levels and the prevalence of dyslipidemia among adults were analyzed with complex sampling weighting adjustment for age and gender.Results The weighted means of TC, TG, and LDL-c significantly increased linearly from 3.93, 1.12, and 2.12 mmol/L in 2002 to 4.59, 1.41, and 2.78 mmol/L in 2010 and then to 4.63, 1.47, and 2.87 mmol/L in 2015, respectively;by contrast, HDL-c levels decreased significantly from 1.30 mmol/L to 1.26 mmol/L over the same period.Similar trends in mean non-HDL-c and lipid-related ratios were observed.The weighted dyslipidemia prevalence linearly increased;in particular, hypercholesterolemia increased from 1.6% to 5.6% and then to 5.8%, hypertriglyceridemia increased from 5.7% to 13.6% and then to 15.0%, low HDL-c increased from 18.8% to 35.5% and then to 24.9%, and high LDL-c increased from 1.3% to 5.6% and then to 7.2%(P for trend <0.001).Conclusion Dyslipidemia increased among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Development of a comprehensive strategy to decrease lipid levels in this population is urgently required. | SONG Peng Kun MAN Qing Qing LI Hong PANG Shao Jie JIA Shan Shan LI Yu Qian HE Li ZHAO Wen Hua ZHANG Jian | 2019 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,8: | 45 |

| 3 | Responses of soil nitrogen, phosphorous and organic matter to vegetation succession on the Loess Plateau of China显示文摘Revegetation is a traditional practice widely used for soil protection. We evaluated the effect of natural revegetation succession on soil chemical properties and carbon fractions(particulate organic carbon(POC), humus carbon(HS-C), humic acid carbon(HA-C) and fulvic acid carbon(FA-C)) on the Loess Plateau of China. The vegetation types, in order from the shortest to the longest enclosure duration, were:(a) abandoned overgrazed grassland(Ab G3; 3 years);(b) Hierochloe odorata Beauv.(Hi O7; 7 years);(c) Thymus mongolicus Ronnm(Th M15; 15 years);(d) Artemisia sacrorum Ledeb(At S25; 25 years);(e) Stipa bungeana Trin Ledeb(St B36; 36 years) and(f) Stipa grandis P. Smirn(St G56; 56 years). The results showed that the concentrations of soil organic carbon, total nitrogen and available phosphorus increased with the increase of restoration time except for Th M15. The concentration of NH4-N increased in the medium stage(for Th M15 and At S25) and decreased in the later stage(for St B36 and St G56) of vegetation restoration. However, NO3-N concentration significantly increased in the later stage(for St B36 and St G56). Carbon fractions had a similar increasing trend during natural vegetation restoration. The concentrations of POC, HS-C, FA-C and HA-C accounted for 24.5%–49.1%, 10.6%–15.2%, 5.8%–9.1% and 4.6%–6.1% of total carbon, respectively. For Ab G3, the relative changes of POC, HS-C and FA-C were significantly higher than that of total carbon during the process of revegetation restoration. The higher relative increases in POC, HS-C and FA-C confirmed that soil carbon induced by vegetation restoration was sequestrated by higher physical and chemical protection. | 5 | A preliminary study on dead geostationary satellite removal显示文摘The collision between satellites IRIDIUM 33 and COSMOS 2251 indicated that the clash of two on-orbit satellites was becoming an inevitable reality. Our calculation with the two-line orbit element by NORAD showed that some two geostationary satellites had approached very close in July 2009. Therefore, more attention should be given to avoid such collisions. This paper analyzes the orbital long-term variation of a dead satellite drifting in the geostationary orbit. Also, the negative effects posed by dead satellites upon the on-orbit operational geostationary satellites are studied. Then the paper proposes a novel idea to launch a satellite sweeper whose purpose is to collect the on-orbit dead satellites and help them de-orbit to a 'graveyard'. The satellite sweeper consists of a parent satellite and a child satellite. The child satellite collects a dead satellite and transfers it to a higher orbit. The parent satellite stationed in the geostationary orbit is in charge of refueling the child satellite. The strategy of maneuver and rendezvous is presented and a series of formulas are derived. The analysis results show that our method to clean the geostationary orbital zone is practical and fuel-saving. | 6 | Experimental and Modeling Study of the Regular Polygon Angle-spiral Liner in Ball Mills显示文摘Load behavior is one of the most critical factors affecting mills' energy consumption and grinding efficiency,and is greatly affected by the liner profiles. Generally, as liner profiles vary, the ball mill performances are extremely different. In order to study the performance of the ball mill with regular polygon angle-spiral liners(RPASLs), experimental and numerical studies on three types of RPASLs, including regular quadrilateral, pentagonal and hexagonal, are carried out. For the fine product of desired size, two critical parameters are analyzed: the energy input to the mill per unit mass of the fine product, E*, and the rate of production of the fine product, F*. Results show that the optimal structure of RPASLs is Quadrilateral ASL with an assembled angle of 50°. Under this condition, the specific energy consumption E* has the minimum value of 303 J per fine product and the production rate F* has the maximum value of 0.323. The production rate F* in the experimental result is consistent with the specific collision energy intensity to total collision energy intensity ratio E_s/E_t in the simulation. The relations between the production rate F* and the specific energy consumption E* with collision energy intensity E_s and E_t are obtained. | 7 | Fermented mixed feed alters growth performance,carcass traits,meat quality and muscle fatty acid and amino acid profiles in finishing pigs显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effects of fermented mixed feed(FMF)on growth performance,carcass traits,meat quality,muscle amino acid and fatty acid composition and mRNA expression levels of genes related to lipid metabolism in finishing pigs.In the present study,144 finishing pigs(Duroc×Berkshire×Jiaxing Black)were randomly allocated to 3 dietary treatments with 4 replicate pens per group and 12 pigs per pen.The dietary treatments included a basal diet(CON),a basal diet+5%FMF and a basal diet+10%FMF.The experiment lasted 38 d after 4 d of acclimation.The results showed that 5%and 10%FMF significantly increased the average daily gain(ADG)of the females but not the males(P<0.05),but FMF supplementation showed no impact on carcass traits.Moreover,10%FMF supplementation increased the meat color45 min and meat color24 h values,while it decreased the shear force relative to CON(P<0.05).In addition,10%FMF significantly increased the contents of flavor amino acids(FAA),total essential AA(EAA),total non-EAA(NEAA)and total AA relative to CON(P<0.05).Furthermore,the diet supplemented with 10%FMF significantly increased the concentration of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA),n-6 PUFA and total PUFA,and the PUFA to saturated fatty acids ratio(P<0.05),suggesting that FMF supplementation increased meat quality.Moreover,compared with the CON,10%FMF supplementation increased the mRNA expression of lipogenic genes,including CEBPα,PPARγ,SREBP1 and FABP4,and upregulated the expression of unsaturated fatty acid synthesis(ACAA1 and FADS2).Together,our results suggest that 10%FMF dietary supplementation improved the female pigs’growth performance,improved the meat quality and altered the profiles of muscle fatty acids and amino acids in finishing pigs.This study provides a reference for the production of high-quality pork. | Shiqi Liu Man Du Yuang Tu Wenjing You Wentao Chen Guoliang Liu Junyue Li Yizhen Wang Zeqing Lu Tenghao Wang Tizhong Shan | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,1: | 4 |

| 9 | Measurement of Attenuation of Ultrasonic Propagating through the Thin Layer Media with Time Delay Spectrum显示文摘The ultrasonic attenuation coefficient is one of the most important acoustic parameters to character the performance of a thin layer media, but it can not be measured due to mutual superposition of multiple reflected waves at the same interface in ultrasonic testing. Ultrasonic pulse echo and lamb wave to evaluate the thin layer media can not obtain attenuation coefficient at present. In this paper, analytical method was used to study the acoustics characteristic of thin layer media with the ultrasonic echo testing. Meanwhile, the process of ultrasonic attenuation measurement was presented. Simulation and experimental investigation is focused on a thin layer of rubber. Attenuation coefficient was introduced and evaluation mathematics model was established by the two echoes cross-correlation with and without the thin layer media based on the time delay spectrum. It involved the parameters related to the acoustic properties of the thin layer media. Through calculating the sound velocity and acoustic impedance with the evaluation model, it can deduce the relation between the attenuation coefficient and the frequency. Through analyzing the simulation results, it indicated that the attenuation coefficients were invariable with the varying of the frequency. However, the attenuation coefficients increased with the frequency increasing by ultrasonic testing the thin layer of rubber. The reason was that the attenuation factor was not taken into account during the simulation. This method overcomes shortcomings that the traditional ultrasonic testing can not evaluate the thin layer media whose thickness is less than motivation wavelength. | 13 | Performance of ground penetrating radar in root detection and its application in root diameter estimation under controlled conditions显示文摘A plant is stabilized by its root system. In congested urban cities such as Hong Kong, ground trenching is frequently seen due to the installation of utility lines along the roadside. Soil nailing, which involves soil coring in slopes, is a common solution to improve the slope stability. However, both activities inevitably pose a risk to the integrity of any root systems present, and thus reduce the root anchorage. To prevent or minimize such damage, a careful design of the excavation/drilling location is of prime importance. Ground penetrating radar(GPR) provides a non-destructive method for locating roots by examining the contrast between the dielectric properties of the roots and the surrounding soil. To examine the performance of GPR and promote its use in Hong Kong, a test bed was prepared using local materials to create a controlled environment in which to conduct a series of systematic tests evaluating the performance of a 900 MHz GPR. The reflected radargrams were subject to the influence of the following factors: size and depth of roots, horizontal distance between roots, and contrast between the root and soil water content. Correlations between root size and a number of waveform parameters were also explored. Limiting values for root size, root embedded depth, horizontal separation distance between roots, and water content contrast between root and soil were obtained. A significant correlation was found between the root diameter and time travel parameter T_2(p<0.001, r=0.795). Because GPR root detection is highly site-specific, this study provides a local reference for GPR performance in the Hong Kong environment. | 19 | Either transepidermal water loss rates or stratum corneum hydration levels can predict quality of life in children with atopic dermatitis显示文摘Importance:Patients with atopic dermatitis(AD)display compromised epidermal barrier and suffer from poor quality of life.We hypothesized that quality of life could reflect in the changes in the epidermal barrier function.Objective:To determine whether the epidermal barrier function correlates with the severity of pruritus and/or life quality in children with AD.Methods:A total of 120 children,aged 0-12 years,with moderate AD were enrolled.Children were topically treated with topical corticosteroids(TCS)and an emollient for 2 weeks.The Eczema Area and Severity Index(EASI),visual analogue scale(VAS)for pruritus severity,the Infant’s Dermatitis Quality of Life Index(IDQOL)and the Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index(CDLQI)were evaluated.Transepidermal water loss(TEWL)rates,stratum corneum(SC)hydration,and skin surface pH were measured.Correlations of epidermal barrier function with pruritus,life quality,and EASI were determined.Results:Following 2-week treatments,significant improvements were observed in EASI,TEWL,SC hydration,the VAS of pruritus,as well as DQOL(P<0.001 for all).TEWL positively,while SC hydration negatively correlated with VAS pruritus,DQOL,and EASI(P<0.001).Interpretation:Both TEWL and SC hydration levels can serve as indicators of the severity of pruritus and quality of life in children with AD. | Shan Wang Chunping Shen Mutong Zhao Lei Jiao Jing Tian Yang Wang Lin Ma Mao-Qiang Mao-Qiang Man | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,4: | 1 |
