2TGF-β1 signal pathway in the regulation of inflammation in patients with atrial fibrillation显示文摘Objective:To observe the expression changes of inflammatory markers TGF-β1,Smad3 and IL-6 in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF),and to explore the significance of TGF-β1 signaling pathway in the structural remodeling of AF.Methods:The expression of TGF-β1,Smad3 and IL-6 in 50 cases with AF and 30 normal cases were detected by RT-PCR and ELISA.Results:The TGF-β1,Smad3 and IL-6 mRNA and protein expression levels in patients with AF were significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significantly different between the paroxysmal AF group and the persistent AF group(P>0.05).The TGF-β1mRNA expression in the≥50 years subgroup was significantly higher than that in the<50years subgroups,and it was higher in the NYHAⅢsubgroup than in theⅠ/Ⅱgrade subgroup.It was also higher in the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)<50%subgroup than in LVEF≥50%group,and it was significantly higher in the AF time≥36 months subgroup than that in<36months subgroup(P<0.05).The Smad3 and IL-6 expressions in the in the LVEF<50%subgroup were both high that than that in LVEF≥50%group,and higher in the AF time≥36 months subgroup than that in<36 months subgroup(P<0.05).There were a positive correlation between TGF-β1,Smad3 and IL-6(r=0.687,r=0.547).There were also a positive correlation between Smad3 and IL-6 mRNA(r=0.823).Conclusions:AF is associated with inflammation,and the inflammation is also involved in the fibrillation and sustain of AF.The TGF-β1 signal pathway may be involved in the process of atrial structural remodeling in patients with AF,and iss related with the occurrence and maintenance of AF.Ye Erbo lati.Ali Mira Muhuyati Wu-Hong Lu Peng-Yi He Zhi-Qiang Liu Yu-Chun Yang 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,12:14

4Changes in total and disability-free life expectancy among older adults in China:Do they portend a compression of morbidity?显示文摘The purpose of this research is to determine whether disability-free life expectancy(DFLE)in China has been increasing more rapidly than total life expectancy(TLE).Such a scenario would be consistent with a compression of morbidity,a situation that is especially desirable in a country experiencing rapid population aging and gains in old-age longevity.Using the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study,an exponential survival regression is used to calculate TLE.The Sullivan method is then employed for computing DFLE.Results for a 65 and older sample are compared across data collected during two periods,the first with a 2002 baseline and a 2005 follow-up(N=15,641)and the second with a 2008 baseline and a 2011 follow-up(N=15,622).The first comparison is by age and sex.The second comparison divides the sample further by rural/urban residence and education.The ratio of DFLE/TLE across periods provides evidence of whether older Chinese are living both longer and healthier lives.The findings are favorable for the total population aged 65+,but improvements are only statistically significant for females.Results also suggest heterogeneous compression occurring across residential status with the urban population experiencing more favorable changes than their rural counterparts.Results both portend a compression of morbidity and continuing disadvantage for rural residents who may not be participating in population-wide improvements in health.Zachary Zimmer Mira Hidajat Yasuhiko Saito 2015International Journal of Population Studies2015,1,1:4
5Monograph of Carex section Schiedeanae (Cyperaceae): Unexpected taxonomic and ecological diversity in a Mexican sedge clade显示文摘Carex section Schiedeanae(subg.Euthyceras)has long been thought to comprise at most five species of Mexican sedges.Our morphological studies in the field and herbarium,however,supported by more recent DNA sequencing work,demonstrate that the section is,in fact,three times as species-rich,making it one of the largest sections in Mexico.Its 15 species range from Chihuahua to Tamaulipas south to Veracruz and Oaxaca;a single species,Carex muriculata,extends into the United States.The section has unusual inflorescences with simple(except in Carex complexa),uniformly androgynous,sessile spikes,utriculiform dadoprophylls,and perigynia with a unique combination of pubescence types composed of papillae;unicellular,simple hairs;and(in many species)multicellular tubercles.We recognize five previously described species(C.muriculata,Carex perstricta,Carex schiedeana,Carex stellata,and Carex vizarronensis)and describe 10 additional species(Carex angustilepis,Carex cabralii,Carex complexa,Carex dentata,Carex gypsophila,Carex mesophila,Carex paneroi,Carex planilamina,Carex revoluta,and Carex tehuacana).We have expanded the morphological features used in the section to include particularly anther,staminate scale,and style features,and more detailed micromorphology of the perigynia,especially indumentum.In total,13 of the 15 species recognized herein,with a total of 32 individuals,were examined for ETS and ITS for phylogenetic reconstruction.Phylogenetically,the xeric species(plus C.paneroi)form a grade leading to a clade of the more mesophytic species adapted to forest understories,plus the unique cliff dwelling C.complexa.Anton A.Reznicek Maria del Socorro Gonzalez-Elizondo Marlene Hahn Mira Gamer Andrew L.Hipp 2021Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,4:4

7Comparison of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy regimens for treatment of peritoneal-metastasized colorectal cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Cytoreductive surgery(CRS)in combination with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC)improves patient survival in colorectal cancer(CRC)with peritoneal carcinomatosis(PC).Commonly used cytotoxic agents include mitomycin C(MMC)and oxaliplatin.Studies have reported varying results,and the evidence for the choice of the HIPEC agent and uniform procedure protocols is limited.AIM To evaluate therapeutic benefits and complications of CRS+MMC vs oxaliplatin HIPEC in patients with peritoneal metastasized CRC as well as prognostic factors.METHODS One hundred and two consecutive patients who had undergone CRS and HIPEC for CRC PC between 2007 and 2019 at the Medical Center of the University Freiburg regarding interdisciplinary cancer conference decision were retrospectively analysed.Oxaliplatin and MMC were used in 68 and 34 patients,respectively.Each patient’s demographics and tumour characteristics,operative details,postoperative complications and survival were noted.Complications were stratified and graded using Clavien/Dindo analysis.Prognostic outcome factors were identified using univariate and multivariate analysis of survival.RESULTS The two groups did not differ significantly regarding baseline characteristics.We found no difference in median overall survival between MMC and oxaliplatin HIPEC.Regarding postoperative complications,patients treated with oxaliplatin HIPEC suffered increased complications(66.2%vs 35.3%;P=0.003),particularly intestinal atony,intraabdominal infections and urinary tract infection,and had a prolonged intensive care unit stay compared to the MMC group(7.2 d vs 4.4 d;P=0.035).Regarding univariate analysis of survival,we found primary tumour factors,nodal positivity and resection margins to be of prognostic value as well as peritoneal cancer index(PCI)-score and the completeness of cytoreduction regarding peritoneal carcinomatosis.Multivariate analysis of survival confirmed primary distant metastasis and primary tumour resection status to have a significant impact on survival and likewise peritoneal cancer index-scoring regarding peritoneal carcinomatosis.CONCLUSION In this single-institution retrospective review of patients undergoing CRS with either oxaliplatin or MMC HIPEC,overall survival was not different,though oxaliplatin was associated with a higher postoperative complication rate,indicating treatment favourably with MMC.Further studies comparing HIPEC regimens would improve evidence-based decision-making.Julia Spiegelberg Hannes Neeff Philipp Holzner Mira Runkel Stefan Fichtner-Feigl Torben Glatz 2020World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2020,12,8:3
8Advances in enhanced oil recovery technologies for low permeability reservoirs显示文摘Low permeability oil and gas resources are rich and have great potential all over the world, which has gradually become the main goal of oil and gas development. However, after traditional primary and secondary exploitation, there is still a large amount of remaining oil that has not been recovered.Therefore, in recent years, enhanced oil recovery(EOR) technologies for low permeability reservoirs have been greatly developed to further improve crude oil production. This study presents a comprehensive review of EOR technologies in low permeability reservoirs with an emphasis on gas flooding, surfactant flooding, nanofluid flooding and imbibition EOR technologies. In addition, two kinds of gel systems are introduced for conformance control in low permeability reservoirs with channeling problems. 9Mineralogy,M-type tetrad effect and radioactivity of altered granites at the G.Abu Garadi shear zone,central Eastern Desert,Egypt显示文摘The G. Abu Garadi area is covered mainly by metasediments, alkali feldspar granites and stream sediments. The alkali feldspar granite is traversed by a major strike-slip fault trending in an N-S direction as well as two subordinate sets of faults trending NW to WNW for the first one and NE for the second one. These faults represent the shear zones affected by magmatic (syngenetic) as well as hydrothermal (epigenetic) activities causing alteration of the granitic rocks. The most common alteration features are albitization, greisenization and koalinitization. The mass balance calculations of the studied altered samples show enrichments in Zr, Y, Ni, U, Th and Ga and depletions in Zn, Sr, Nb, Ba, Pb, Cu and V. Only the greisenized samples exhibit a significant enrichment in Nb, ∑REE budget and pronounced lanthanide tetrad effect (M-type), especially TE1,4, while weakly expressed tetrad effects are for the other albitized and koalinitized samples. Mineralogically, the common accessory minerals in the altered samples include samarskite-(Y), betafite, uranothorite, zircon, fluorite and cassiterite. The greisenized granites contain high eU and eTh than the other altered types, where they are characterized by an assemblage of the radioactive minerals; samarskite-(Y), betafite, uranothorite in addition to zircon. The inter-element relationships between U and Th and also their ratios illustrate that the radioelement distribution in these granites is mainly governed by magmatic processes, in addition to post-magmatic ones. The distribution of chemical elements and the fractionation of some isovalents within the shear zone are largely controlled by the newly formed mineral phases. With respect to uranium mobilization, uranium migrated from the host alkali feldspar granites of G. Abu Garadi, while the shear zones acted as traps for the migrated uranium. 11Cost-effectiveness of enhanced liver fibrosis test to assess liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C virus and alcoholic liver disease patients显示文摘AIM To assess liver fibrosis(LF) in hepatitis C virus(HCV) and alcoholic liver disease(ALD), estimate health outcomes and costs of new noninvasive testing strategies METHODS A Markov model was developed to simulate LF progression in HCV and ALD for a cohort of 40-yearold men with abnormal levels of transaminases. Three different testing alternatives were studied: a single liver biopsy; annual Enhanced liver fibrosis(ELF?) followed by liver stiffness measurement(LSM) imaging as a confirmation test if the ELF test is positive; and annual ELF test without LSM. The analysis was performed from the perspective of a university hospital in Spain.Clinical data were obtained from published literature. Costs were sourced from administrative databases of the hospital. Deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were performed.RESULTS In HCV patients, annual sequential ELF test/LSM and annual ELF test alone prevented respectively 12.9 and 13.3 liver fibrosis-related deaths per 100 persons tested, compared to biopsy. The incremental costeffectiveness ratios(ICERs) were respectively €13400 and €11500 per quality-adjusted life year(QALY). In ALD, fibrosis-related deaths decreased by 11.7 and 22.1 per 100 persons tested respectively with sequential ELF test/LSM and annual ELF test alone. 12Elevated serum values of procollagen Ⅲ peptide (PIIIP)in patients with ulcerative colitis who will develop pseudopolyps显示文摘AIM: To assess the impact of procollagen Ⅲ peptide as a marker of collagenesis in the development of pseudopolyps in patients with ulcerative colitis.METHODS: Development of pseudopolyps was monitored in 25 patients with ulcerative colitis classified according to Powell-Tuck index as mild (n=12) or moderate (n=13) form of disease. Patients with a mild form of disease were treated with oral mesalazine medication (2-4 g/day) and local mesalazine preparation (suppository). Patients with a moderate form of disease received oral mesalazine medication (2-4 g/day), local mesalazine preparation(suppository) and local methylprednisolone at an initial dose of 60 rag/day, followed by dose tapering. How many significant variables (previously determined by analysis of variance) were elevated in the groups with and without pseudopolyp developement was observed. ROC analysis for calculation of new index was made.RESULTS: Serum values of procollagen Ⅲ peptide (PⅢP), C-reactive protein (CRP) and C4 complement component (C4)were statistically significantly lower in the group of patients flee from pseudopolyp development bhan bhose who developed one or more pseudopolyps (0.45±0.12 vs 1.42±0.70,P<0.0027; 7.6±4.7 vs 17.8±9.17, P<0.035, and 0.46±0.11 vs 0.34±0.16, P<0.068, respectively) at endoscopic conrtrols with patohistologically samples during 13 months. There were no statistically significant differences in the values of C3, ceruloplasmin and IgM between the two groups (P>0.05).Discrimination function analysis yielded highest standardized cannon coefficients for PⅢP (0.876), CRP (0.104), C3 (-0.534) and C4 (0.184) (P<0.036). The elevation in two of three laboratory variables (PⅢP, CRP and C4) reached sensitivity of 93 % and specificity of 90 % in the development of pseudopolyps.CONCLUSION: It is proposed that an increase in two of the three laboratory parameters (PⅢP, CRP and C4) could improve the accuracy of prediction of the development of pseudopolyps. 14Approaches for enhancing the photocatalytic activities of barium titanate:A review显示文摘Barium titanate(Ba TiO_(3)),a dielectric/ferroelectric semiconductor with perovskite structures is the most widely used photocatalyst in the field of environmental applications due to its low-cost,chemical stability,and non-toxicity.Different types and forms of Ba TiO_(3)have shown their great potential toward the significant photocatalytic reactions owing to the several beneficial properties,including appropriate band positions,high oxygen vacancies,multiple crystal structures,the feasibility of size and morphology tailoring,spontaneous polarization,rapid migration of photogenerated charge carriers,and band bending.However,the large band gap and recombination of photogenerated charge carriers limit the overall photocatalytic efficiency of Ba TiO_(3).These difficulties can be further overcome by modifying the electronic band structure of Ba TiO_(3)to broaden its absorption to the visible region of the spectrum.Hence,this review encompasses various strategies,including modification of sizes and morphologies of particles by varying the reaction time and synthesis temperature,doping with non-metals/metals,loading with noble metals,and forming heterojunctions for enhancing the photocatalytic activities of Ba TiO_(3)-based photocatalysts possessing the effective capability of charge carrier separation,trapping and their transfer to the surface of photocatalyst.Also,this review highlights the photocatalytic applications of Ba TiO_(3)-based photocatalysts along with the proposed mechanism in dyes/drugs degradation,H_(2)production,and bacteria killing.Gopal Panthi Mira Park 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,10:2

16Assessing the estrogenic potency in a Portuguese wastewater treatment plant using an integrated approach显示文摘The estrogenic potency of a wastewater treatment plant(WWTP) was evaluated using chemical and biological analyses,which showed that after the station treatment processes some of the selected endocrine disruptor compounds(EDCs) were still present in the treated effuent(e.g.,bisphenol A,alkylphenols,estrone) .Thus,the most common endocrine EDCs were identified and quantified and the overall estrogenicity of the treated effuent assessed by integrating the results.Male goldfish(Carassius auratus) were used as biological indicators in a 28-day experiment.Vitellogenin(Vtg) ,gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic indices,steroids(17β-estradiol and 11-ketotestosterone) and histopathology were biomarkers used in fish to evaluate WWTP treated effuent estrogenicity,in combination with instrumental analyses.The results showed a significant increase(P<0.01) in plasma and liver Vtg,which were significantly correlated(r=0.66;P<0.01) .The gonadosmatic index was significantly(P<0.01) reduced in exposed fish.The steroid analyses revealed significant elevations in 17β-estradiol and depressed 11-ketotestosterone concentrations.The histological examinations show changes in exposed fish gonads,such as regressed testes and in some cases(43%to 75%) the development of ovo-testis in fish exposed to 50% and 100% treated effuent.Mário S.Diniz Rita Maurício Mira Petrovic Maria J.López De Alda Leonor Amaral Isabel Peres Damiá Barceló Fernando Santana 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,10:2
