| 1 | High-conductivity free-standing Li_(6)PS_(5)Cl/poly(vinylidene difluoride)composite solid electrolyte membranes for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Bulk-type all-solid-state batteries(ASSBs)using sulfide solid electrolyte are considered as a promising alternative to commercial lithium-ion batteries owing to their high energy density and safety.However,cell energy density is often comparatively low due to use of a thick solid electrolyte separator and a lithium alloy as anode.For achieving high-performance ASSBs,creating a thin free-standing electrolyte with high-conductivity and good cycling stability against lithium anode is essential.In this work,we present Li_(6)PS_(5)Cl/poly(vinylidene difluoride)(LPSCl/PVDF)composite electrolytes prepared by a slurry method.The influence of the PVDF content on the microstructure,morphology,ionic conductivity and activation energy of the LPSCl/PVDF electrolytes is systematically investigated.Free-standing LPSCl/PVDF membranes with a thickness of 100-120 mm and a high ionic conductivity of about 1·10^(-3) S cm^(-1) at 25℃ are obtained.After adding PVDF to the LPSCl electrolyte,the cycling stability of the LPSCl electrolyte against lithium metal improves significantly.Therefore,LPSCl/PVDF composite electrolytes are promising candidates to be used in ASSBs. | Shuo Wang Xue Zhang Sijie Liu Chengzhou Xin Chuanjiao Xue Felix Richter Liangliang Li Lizhen Fan Yuanhua Lin Yang Shen Jurgen Janek Ce-Wen Nan | 2020 | Journal of Materiomics2020,6,1: | 5 |
| 2 | Clinical applications of free medial tibial flap with posterior tibial artery for head and neck reconstruction after tumor resection显示文摘Tumor resection causes damage in the head and neck which creates problems in swallowing, chewing, articulation,and vision, all of which seriously affect patients' quality of life. In this work, we evaluated the application of a free medial tibial flap in reconstruction of head and neck defects after tumor resection. We discussed the anatomy,surgical technique, and the advantages and disadvantages of the flap. We found several benefits for the flap, such as,it is especially effective for the defects that require thin-layer epithelium to cover or the separated soft tissue defect;a two-team approach can be used because the donor site is far away from the head and neck; and the flap is easy to integrate because of the subcutaneous fat layer of the free medial tibial flap is thin and the flap is soft. | 3 | Severe drought strongly reduces water use and its recovery ability of mature Mongolian Scots pine(Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv.) in a semi-arid sandy environment of northern China显示文摘Trees growing in a semi-arid sandy environment are often exposed to drought conditions due to seasonal variations in precipitation, low soil water retention and deep groundwater level.However, adaptability and plasticity of individuals to the changing drought conditions greatly vary among tree species.In this study, we estimated water use(Ts) of Mongolian Scots pine(MSP;Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica Litv.) based on sap flux density measurements over four successive years(2013–2016) that exhibited significant fluctuations in precipitation in a semi-arid sandy environment of northern China.The results showed that fluctuations in daily Ts synchronously varied with dry-wet cycles of soil moisture over the study period.The daily ratio of water use to reference evapotranspiration(Ts/ET0) on sunny days in each year showed a negative linear relationship with the severity of drought in the upper soil layer(0–1 m;P<0.01).The decrease in Ts induced by erratic drought during the growing season recovered due to precipitation.However, this recovery ability failed under prolonged and severe droughts.The Ts/ET0 ratio significantly declined with the progressive reduction in the groundwater level(gw) over the study period(P<0.01).We concluded that the upper soil layer contributed the most to the Ts of MSP during the growing season.The severity and duration of droughts in this layer greatly reduced Ts.Nevertheless, gw determined whether the Ts could completely recover after the alleviation of long-term soil drought.These results provide practical information for optimizing MSP management to stop ongoing degradation in the semi-arid sandy environments. | DANG Hongzhong ZHANG Lizhen YANG Wenbin FENG Jinchao HAN Hui CHEN Yiben | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019,11,6: | 4 |
| 4 | Biodegradable magnesium pins enhanced the healing of transverse patellar fracture in rabbits显示文摘Displaced fractures of patella often require open reduction surgery and internal fixation to restore the extensor continuity and articular congruity.Fracture fixation with biodegradable magnesium(Mg)pins enhanced fracture healing.We hypothesized that fixation with Mg pins and their degradation over time would enhance healing of patellar fracture radiologically,mechanically,and histologically.Transverse patellar fracture surgery was performed on thirty-two 18-weeks old female New Zealand White Rabbits.The fracture was fixed with a pin made of stainless steel or pure Mg,and a figure-of-eight stainless steel band wire.Samples were harvested at week 8 or 12,and assessed with microCT,tensile testing,microindentation,and histology.Microarchitectural analysis showed that Mg group showed 12%higher in the ratio of bone volume to tissue volume at week 8,and 38.4%higher of bone volume at week 12.Tensile testing showed that the failure load and stiffness of Mg group were 66.9%and 104%higher than the control group at week 8,respectively.At week 12,Mg group was 60.8%higher in ultimate strength than the control group.Microindentation showed that,compared to the Control group,Mg group showed 49.9%higher Vickers hardness and 31%higher elastic modulus at week 8 and 12,respectively.At week 12,the new bone of Mg group remodelled to laminar bone,but those of the control group remained woven bone-like.Fixation of transverse patellar fracture with Mg pins and its degradation enhanced new bone formation and mechanical properties of the repaired patella compared to the Control group. | Dick Ho Kiu Chow Jiali Wang Peng Wan Lizhen Zheng Michael Tim Yun Ong Le Huang Wenxue Tong Lili Tan Ke Yang Ling Qin | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,11: | 3 |

| 7 | Long duplication of 18S ribosomal DNA in Cynoglossus lineolatus(Pleuronectiformes: Cynoglossidae): novel molecular evidencefor unequal crossing over model显示文摘Although 18 S r DNA sequence is extremely conservative, the polymorphism still has been found in few species.In the present study, three types(Type A, B and C) of 18 S r DNA sequence coexisted in Cynoglossus lineolatus genome, suggesting a non-concerted evolution process, rather than a strictly concerted evolution fashion.Based on the differences of sequence variation, GC content, secondary structure and minimum free energy,Types A and B were speculated as the potential pseudogenes. Additionally, a fascinating finding was a 189-bp duplication of 18 S r DNA in Type A sequence. To our knowledge, this is the first report on such a long duplication in teleostean ribosomal DNA. Compared with several theories accounting for the formation of tandem repeats, the unequal crossing over model was thought to be the most likely mechanism to generate the189-bp duplication of 18 S r DNA. | 9 | Seedling defoliation of cereal crops increases peanut growth and yield in an intercropping system显示文摘Intercropping cereals and legumes is practiced widely in the world for improving yields and economic benefits. Shorter legume crops in intercropping are shaded by taller cereals, substantially reducing legume growth and yield. Reducing shade in intercropping by shortening the plant height of cereals by seedling defoliation has been proposed as a practical approach to increase crop yields and land productivity. A two-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of defoliation of cereal crops at seedling stage on the growth and yield of peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) intercropped with corn(Zea mays L.) or millet(Setaria italica L.). In comparison with non-defoliation controls, defoliation reduced final plant height by 29 cm on average for corn and 18 cm for millet. Photosynthetically active radiation on peanut in intercropping systems with corn or millet intercropping was respectively 27.0% and 22.8% higher than those in controls, significantly improving the light environment of intercropped peanut. Net photosynthetic rates of peanut were on average 25.5% higher in corn and peanut intercropping and 19.6% higher in millet and peanut intercropping than those in non-defoliation controls. Total biomass of intercropped peanut increased owing to increased root growth. Across two years, yield of peanut intercropped with corn was 27.7% and with millet 32.8% higher than those of controls. Defoliation of cereal crops did not affect corn yield but significantly decreased millet yield by 24.5%.
