| 1 | Phage therapy: An alternative to antibiotics in the age of multi-drug resistance显示文摘The practice of phage therapy, which uses bacterial viruses(phages) to treat bacterial infections, has been around for almost a century. The universal decline in the effectiveness of antibiotics has generated renewed interest in revisiting this practice. Conventionally, phage therapy relies on the use of naturally-occurring phages to infect and lyse bacteria at the site of infection. Biotechnological advances have further expanded the repertoire of potential phage therapeutics to include novel strategies using bioengineered phages and purified phage lytic proteins. Current research on the use of phages and their lytic proteins against multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, suggests phage therapy has the potential to be used as either an alternative or a supplement to antibiotic treatments. Antibacterial therapies, whether phage-or antibiotic-based, each have relative advantages and disadvantages; accordingly, many considerations must be taken into account when designing novel therapeutic approaches for preventing and treating bacterial infection. | 2 | 黄土高原关键带土壤水分空间分异特征显示文摘地球关键带是人类生存和发展的关键区域。关键带发生的一系列物理、化学和生物过程与人类活动密切相关。土壤水分是黄土高原关键带的关键要素,同时又是黄土高原植被恢复与生态环境重建的决定因子。为揭示黄土高原关键带土壤水分的空间分异特征,采用网格(50m×50m)布点,雨季结束后采集0~500cm深度土壤样品,结合室内分析,结果表明:黄土高原小流域中73个样点0~500cm的土壤含水量分布范围介于1%~23%之间,降水对0~100cm土层的土壤水分补充明显;土壤水分在水平和垂直方向都表现出明显的空间异质性,在不同方向上的水分控制过程有所不同,是对土地利用方式、植被类型、地形要素、土壤质地等多因素综合响应的结果。充分理解关键带土壤水分空间的分异规律及其主控因素有助于该区小流域综合治理中的植被建造与布局,也有助于对该区土壤水文和生物地球化学过程的理解。 | 王云强 邵明安 胡伟 Henry Lin 黄辉 | 2016 | 地球与环境2016,44,4: | 16 |
| 3 | Subsurface Flow Processes in Sloping Cropland of Purple Soil显示文摘Subsurface flow is a prominent runoff process in sloping lands of purple soil in the upper Yangtze River basin.However,it remains difficult to identify and quantify.In this study,in situ runoff experimental plots were used to measure soil moisture dynamics using an array of time domain reflectometry(TDR) together with overland flow and subsurface flow using isolated collecting troughs.Frequency of preferential flow during rainfall events and the controls of subsurface flow processes were investigated through combined analysis of soil properties,topography,rainfall intensity,initial wetness,and tillage.Results showed that subsurface flow was ubiquitous in purple soil profiles due to welldeveloped macropores,especially in surface soils while frequency of preferential flow occurrence was very low(only 2 cases in plot C) during all 22 rainfall events.Dry antecedent moisture conditions promoted the occurrence of preferential flow.However,consecutive real-time monitoring of soil moisture at different depths and various slope positions implied the possible occurrence of multiple subsurface lateral flows during intensive storms.Rainfall intensity,tillage operation,and soil properties were recognized as main controls of subsurface flow in the study area,which allows the optimization of management practices for alleviating adverse environmental effects of subsurface flow in the region. | TANG Jialilang ZHU Bo WANG Tao CHENG Xunqiang GAO Meirong LIN Henry | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,1: | 7 |
| 4 | 1975~2015年董志塬土地利用/覆被变化及人类活动影响显示文摘结合遥感、地理信息系统和数学方法,通过解译不同时间段(1975年、1995年和2015年)的土地利用数据,从土地利用变化速度、转移方向和土地利用程度3个方面分析了近40年来董志塬土地利用变化特征,揭示了1975年以来董志塬人类活动影响下土地利用时空变化规律。研究结果表明:1)1975~2015年期间,董志塬建设用地、林地、水域及水利设施用地的面积呈现总体上升的趋势;建设用地面积增加幅度最大,增加236.25 km2;其次是林地面积,增加158.68 km2;水域及水利设施用地面积增加幅度最小,增加2.06 km2。近40年来,耕地、草地和未利用地面积呈总体减少趋势。耕地面积与草地面积变化趋势相反,耕地面积呈现出'先增后减'的变化特点,共减少218.01 km2;草地面积则呈现'先减后增'的特点,共减少166.93 km2;未利用地面积呈现总体减少的趋势,共减少12.02 km2。2)近40年来,土地利用变迁主要集中在耕地、草地、建设用地和林地之间,草地和耕地之间变换频繁,是董志塬主要的土地利用变化类型。3)董志塬综合土地利用动态度从前20年(1975~1995年)的0.03增加到后20年(1995~2015年)的0.11,说明土地转化强度显著增强;但对于土地利用程度,董志塬前20年为正(0.051),后20年为负(-0.012),表明1995~2015年期间人类活动对土地资源起到正面保护的作用。 | 杨思齐 金钊 余云龙 Henry Lin | 2019 | 第四纪研究2019,39,6: | 6 |
| 5 | Study on cosmogenic activation in germanium detectors for future tonne-scale CDEX experiment显示文摘A study on cosmogenic activation in germanium was carried out to evaluate the cosmogenic background level of natural and ^(70)Ge depleted germanium detectors. The production rates of long-lived radionuclides were calculated with Geant4 and CRY.Results were validated by comparing the simulated and experimental spectra of CDEX-1B detector. Based on the validated codes, the cosmogenic background level was predicted for further tonne-scale CDEX experiment. The suppression of cosmogenic background level could be achieved by underground germanium crystal growth and high-purity germanium detector fabrication to reach the sensitivity requirement for direct detection of dark matter. | 6 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. | 7 | First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). | 10 | Outcomes of submucosal(T1b) esophageal adenocarcinomas removed by endoscopic mucosal resection显示文摘AIM To investigate the outcomes and recurrences of p T1 b esophageal adenocarcinoma(EAC) following endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) and associated treatments.METHODS Patients undergoing EMR with pathologically confirmed T1 b EAC at two academic referral centers were retrospectively identified.Patients were divided into 4 groups based on treatment following EMR:Endoscopic therapy alone(group A),endoscopic therapy with either chemotherapy,radiation or both(group B),surgicalresection(group C) or no further treatment/lost to follow-up(<12 mo)(group D).Pathology specimens were reviewed by a central pathologist.Follow-up data was obtained from the academic centers,primary care physicians and/or referring physicians.Univariate analysis was performed to identify factors predicting recurrence of EAC.RESULTS Fifty-three patients with T1 b EAC underwent EMR,of which 32(60%) had adequate follow-up ≥ 12 mo(median 34 mo,range 12-103).There were 16 patients in group A,9 in group B,7 in group C and 21 in group D.Median follow-up in groups A to C was 34 mo(range 12-103).Recurrent EAC developed overall in 9 patients(28%) including 6(38%) in group A(median:21 mo,range:6-73),1(11%) in group B(median:30 mo,range:30-30) and 2(29%) in group C(median 21 mo,range:7-35.Six of 9 recurrences were local;of the 6 recurrences,5 were treated with endoscopy alone.No predictors of recurrence of EAC were identified.CONCLUSION Endoscopic therapy of T1 b EAC may be a reasonable strategy for a subset of patients including those either refusing or medically unfit for esophagectomy. | Darren D Ballard Neel Choksi Jingmei Lin Eun-Young Choi B Joseph Elmunzer Henry Appelman Douglas K Rex Hala Fatima William Kessler John M DeWitt | 2016 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2016,8,20: | 2 |
