1Physiological responses of osteoblasts to cyclic stretching and the change of intracellular calcium concentration显示文摘The development of bone tissues is regulated by mechanical stimulation. Cyclic stretching was applied to the osteoblasts that were delivered from rat calvarie. The results showed that stretching at 500 me increased the cell prolifera-tion while loading at 1000 me and 1500 me inhabited cell growth. Loading also increased the adhesive force between cells and substrate as well as spreading areas of osteobalsts. Furthermore, the fluorescence probe Fluo-3/AM was used to investigate the effect of stretching stimulation on the intra-cellular calcium concentration of osteoblasts. The intracellu-lar calcium concentration of osteoblasts that were stretched at 500 me for 5 min was 92.9% higher than the control. After being treated with the panax ontoginseng saponins, the stretched osteoblasts still expressed 28.6% higher intracellu-lar calcium concentration than that of the control, which proved that both the influx of extracellular calcium and the release of intracellular calcium store were involved in the increase of intracellular calcium concentration when os-teoblasts responded to the cyclic stretching. 3Observation of a bi-critical point between antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases in pressurized single crystal Ca0.73La0.27FeAs2显示文摘One of the most strikingly universal features of the high-temperature superconductors is that the superconducting phase emerges in the close proximity of the antiferromagnetic phase, and the interplay between these two phases poses a long-standing challenge. It is commonly believed that, as the antiferromagnetic transition temperature is continuously suppressed to zero, there appears a quantum critical point, around which the existence of antiferromagnetic fluctuation is responsible for the development of the superconductivity. In contrast to this scenario, we report the observation of a bi-critical point identified at 2.88 GPa and 26.02 K in the pressurized high-quality single crystal Ca_(0.73)La_(0.27)FeAs_2 by complementary in-situ high pressure measurements. 4Boosting pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution of Molybdenum Disulfide Particles by Interfacial Engineering显示文摘The design of high-efficiency non-noble and earth-abundant electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is highly paramount for water splitting and renewable energy systems.Molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))with abundant edge sites can be utilized as a promising alternative,but its catalytic activity is greatly related to the pH values,especially in an alkaline environment due to the extremely high energy barriers for water adsorption and dissociation steps.Here we report an exceptionally efficient and stable electrocatalyst to improve the sluggish HER process of layered MoS_(2)particles in different pH electrolytes,especially in base.The electrocatalyst is constructed by in situ growing selenium-doped MoS_(2)(Se-MoS_(2))nanoparticles on three-dimensional cobalt nickel diselenide(mCo_(0.2)Ni_(0.8)Se_(2))nanostructured arrays.Due to the large number of active edge sites of Se-MoS_(2)particles exposed at the surface,robust electrical conductivity and large surface area of mCo_(0.2)Ni_(0.8)Se_(2)support,and strong interfacial interactions between Se-MoS_(2)and mCo_(0.2)Ni_(0.8)Se_(2),this hybrid catalyst shows very outstanding catalytic HER properties featured by low overpotentials of 30 and 122 mV at 10 and 100 mA/cm^(2)with good operational stability in base,respectively,which outperforms most of inexpensive catalysts consisting of layered MoS_(2),transition metal selenides and sulfides,and it performs as well as noble Pt catalysts.Meanwhile,this electrocatalyst is also very active in neutral and acidic electrolytes,requiring low overpotentials of 93 and 94 mV at 10 mA/cm^(2),respectively,demonstrating its superb pH universality as a HER electrocatalyst with excellent catalytic durability.This study provides a straightforward strategy to construct an efficient non-noble electrocatalyst for driving the HER kinetics in different electrolytes.Liling Liao Lun Yang Gang Zhao Haiqing Zhou Fengming Cai Yi Li Xiuzhang Wang Fang Yu 2021Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,2:2

7No evidence of superconductivity in a compressed sample prepared from lutetium foil and H_(2)/N_(2) gas mixture显示文摘A material described as lutetium–hydrogen–nitrogen(Lu-H-N in short)was recently claimed to have“near-ambient superconductivity”[Dasenbrock-Gammon et al.,Nature 615,244–250(2023)].If this result could be reproduced by other teams,it would be a major scientific breakthrough.Here,we report our results of transport and structure measurements on a material prepared using the same method as reported by Dasenbrock-Gammon et al.Our x-ray diffraction measurements indicate that the obtained sample contains three substances:the facecentered-cubic(FCC)-1 phase(Fm-3m)with lattice parameter a=5.03Å,the FCC-2 phase(Fm-3m)with a lattice parameter a=4.755Å,and Lu metal.The two FCC phases are identical to the those reported in the so-called near-ambient superconductor.However,we find from our resistance measurements in the temperature range from 300 K down to 4 K and the pressure range 0.9–3.4 GPa and our magnetic susceptibility measurements in the pressure range 0.8–3.3 GPa and the temperature range down to 100 K that the samples show no evidence of superconductivity.We also use a laser heating technique to heat a sample to 1800 XC and find no superconductivity in the produced dark blue material below 6.5 GPa.In addition,both samples remain dark blue in color in the pressure range investigated.Shu Cai Jing Guo Haiyun Shu Liuxiang Yang Pengyu Wang Yazhou Zhou Jinyu Zhao Jinyu Han Qi Wu Wenge Yang Tao Xiang Ho-kwang Mao Liling Sun 2023Matter and Radiation at Extremes2023,8,4:0
8CPAL, as a New Mediator of Cardiomyocyte Metabolic Alterations and Pyroptosis, Regulates Myocardial Infarction Injury in Mice显示文摘Myocardial infarction (MI), the most serious of the ischemic heart diseases, is accompanied by myocardial metabolic disorders and the loss of cardiomyocytes. Increasing evidence has shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in various pathological conditions such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), and are emerging as a novel biomarker for these disorders. This study aims to investigate the regulatory role and mechanisms of lncRNAs in myocardial remodeling in the setting of MI. We find that post-infarcted hearts exhibit a reduction of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and an alteration of the glucose and lipid metabolism genes cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36), hexokinase 1 (HK1), and clucose transporter 4 (GLUT4), accompanied by cardiomyocyte pyroptosis. We then identify a previously unknown conserved lncRNA, AK009126 (cardiomyocyte pyroptosis-associated lncRNA, CPAL), which is remarkably upregulated in the myocardial border zone of MI mice. Importantly, the adeno-associated virus 9 (AAV9)-mediated silencing of endogenous CPAL by its short hairpin RNA (shRNA) partially abrogates myocardial metabolic alterations and cardiomyocyte pyroptosis during MI in mice. Mechanistically, CPAL is shown to bind directly to nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB) and to act as an activator of NFκB to induce NFκB phosphorylation in cardiomyocytes. We also find that CPAL upregulates caspase-1 expression at the transcriptional level and consequently promotes the release of interleukin (IL)-18 and IL-1β from cardiomyocytes. 9Quantum phase transition and destruction of Kondo effect in pressurized SmB6显示文摘SmB_6 has been a well-known Kondo insulator for decades, but recently attracts extensive new attention as a candidate topological system. Studying SmB_6 under pressure provides an opportunity to acquire the much-needed understanding about the effect of electron correlations on both the metallic surface state and bulk insulating state. Here we do so by studying the evolution of two transport gaps(low temperature gap E_l and high temperature gap E_h) associated with the Kondo effect by measuring the electrical resistivity under high pressure and low temperature(0.3 K) conditions. We associate the gaps with the bulk Kondo hybridization, and from their evolution with pressure we demonstrate an insulator-tometal transition at ~4 GPa. At the transition pressure, a large change in the Hall number and a divergence tendency of the electron-electron scattering coefficient provide evidence for a destruction of the Kondo entanglement in the ground state.
