Imaging evaluation of traumatic thoracolumbar spine injuries: Radiological review显示文摘Spine fractures account for a large portion of musculoskeletal injuries worldwide. A classification of spine fractures is necessary in order to develop a common language for treatment indications and outcomes. Several classification systems have been developed based on injury anatomy or mechanisms of action, but they have demonstrated poor reliability, have yielded little prognostic information, and have not been widely used. For this reason, the Arbeitsgemeinschaftfür Osteosynthesefragen(AO) committee has classified thorocolumbar spine injuries based on the pathomorphological criteria into3 types(A: Compression; B: Distraction; C: Axial torque and rotational deformity). Each of these types is further divided into 3 groups and 3 subgroups reflecting progressive scale of morphological damage and the degree of instability. Because of its highly detailed sub classifications, the AO system has shown limited interobserver variability. It is similar to its predecessors in that it does not incorporate the patient's neurologic status. The need for a reliable, reproducible, clinically relevant, prognostic classification system with an optimal balance of ease of use and detail of injury description contributed to the development of a new classification system, the thoracolumbar injury classification and severity score(TLICS). The TLICS defines injury based on three clinical characteristics: injury morphology, integrity of the posterior ligamentous complex, and neurologic status of the patient. The severity score offers prognostic information and is helpful in decision making about surgical vs nonsurgical management.Shivanand Gamanagatti Deepak Rathinam Krithika Rangarajan Atin Kumar Kamran Farooque Vijay Sharma 2015World Journal of Radiology2015,7,9:18
Triple plating of tibia in a complex bicondylar tibial plateau fracture显示文摘高精力的胫骨的高原骨折为整形外科的外科医生提出重要挑战和困难。 Atin Jaiswal Naiman Deepak Kachchhap Yashwant S Tanwar Birendra Kumar Sachin K Yadav 2014Chinese Journal of Traumatology2014,17,3:10
Inhibition of hepatitis B virus DNA replicative intermediate forms by recombinant interferon-γ显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the in vitro anti-HBV activity of recombinant human IFN-γ, alone and in combination with lamivudine. METHODS: A recombinant baculovirus-HBV/HepG2 culture system was developed which could support productive HBV infection in vitro. Expression of HBsAg and HBeAg in infected HepG2 culture medium was detected by commercial enzyme immunoassays. HBV DNA replication intermediates were detected in infected cells by Southern hybridization and viral DNA load was determined by dot hybridization. RESULTS: IFN-γat 0.1 to 5μg/L efficiently down regulated HBsAg expression in transduced HepG2 cells. At 5μg/L, IFN-γalso suppressed HBV DNA replication in these cells. While treatment with a combination of lamivudine and IFN-γshowed no additive effect, sequential treatment first with lamivudine and then IFN-γwas found to be promising. In this culture system the best HBV suppression was observed with a pulse of 2μmol/L lamivudine for two days, followed by 1μg/L IFN-γfor another four days. Compared to treatment with lamivudine alone, the sequential use of 0.2μmol/L lamivudine for two days, followed by 5μg/L IFN-γfor six days showed a 72% reduction in HBV cccDNA pool. CONCLUSION: This in vitro study warrants further evaluation of a combination of IFN-γand lamivudine, especially in IFN-αnon-responder chronic hepatitis B patients. A reduced duration of lamivudine treatment would also restrict the emergence of drug-resistant HBV mutants.Mohammad Khalid Parvez Deepak Sehgal Shiv Kumar Sarin Seemi Farhat Basir Shahid Jameel 2006World Journal of Gastroenterology2006,12,19:10
Proximate Composition,Mineral Content and Fatty Acids Analyses of Aromatic and Non-Aromatic Indian Rice显示文摘Awareness on nutritive value and health benefits of rice is of vital importance in order to increase the consumption of rice in daily diet of the human beings. In this study, a total of six aromatic and two non-aromatic rice accessions grown in India were analysed for their nutritional quality attributes including proximate composition, mineral contents and fatty acids. Data with three replications were used to measure Pearson's simple correlation co-efficient in order to establish the relationship among various nutritional quality attributes. The result on proximate composition showed that Govind Bhog had the highest moisture(13.57%) and fat(0.92%) content, which signifies its tasty attribute. Badshah Bhog exhibited the highest fibre content(0.85%), carbohydrate content(82.70%) and food energy(365.23 k Cal per 100 g). Among the minerals, the higher Ca(98.75 mg/kg), Zn(17.00 mg/kg) and Fe(31.50 mg/kg) were in Gopal Bhog, whereas the highest Na(68.85 mg/kg) was in Badshah Bhog, the highest K(500.00 mg/kg) was in Swetganga, Khushboo and Sarbati. The highest contents of unsaturated fatty acids viz. oleic acid(49.14%), linoleic acid(46.99%) and linolenic acid(1.27%) were found in Sarbati, whereas the highest content of saturated fatty acids viz. myristic acid(4.60%) and palmitic acid(31.91%) were found in Govind Bhog and stearic acid(6.47%) in Todal. The identified aromatic rice accessions Gopal Bhog, Govind Bhog and Badshah Bhog and non-aromatic rice accession Sarbati were found nutritionally superior among all eight tested accessions. The nutritional quality oriented attributes in this study were competent with recognized prominent aromatic and non-aromatic rice accessions as an index of their nutritional worth and recommend to farmers and consumers which may be graded as export quality rice with good unique nutritional values in international market.Deepak Kumar VERMA Prem Prakash SRIVASTAV 2017Rice science2017,24,1:8
Current Status of Conventional and Molecular Interventions for Blast Resistance in Rice显示文摘Pyricularia oryzae anamorph of Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most notorious fungal pathogens causing severe economic loss in rice production worldwide. Various methods, viz. cultural, biological and molecular approaches, are utilized to counteract this pathogen. Moreover, some tolerant or resistant rice varieties have been developed with the help of breeding programmes. Isolation and molecular characterization of different blast resistance genes now open the gate for new possibilities to elucidate the actual allelic variants of these genes via various molecular breeding and transgenic approaches. However, the behavioral pattern of this fungus breakups the resistance barriers in the resistant or tolerant rice varieties. This host-pathogen barrier will be possibly countered in future research by comparative genomics data from available genome sequence data of rice and M. oryzae for durable resistance. Present review emphasized fascinating recent updates, new molecular breeding approaches, transgenic and genomics approaches(i.e. mi RNA and genome editing) for the management of blast disease in rice. The updated information will be helpful for the durable, resistance breeding programme in rice against blast pathogen.Deepti SRIVASTAVA Md SHAMIM Mahesh KUMAR Anurag MISHRA Pramila PANDEY Deepak KUMAR Prashant YADAV Mohammed Harrish SIDDIQUI Kapildeo Narayan SINGH 2017Rice science2017,24,6:8
Synthesis of Aligned ZnO Nanorod Array on Silicon and Sapphire Substrates by Thermal Evaporation Technique显示文摘High density ZnO nanorods were grown by thermal evaporation of Zn powder at 700?C on Si (100) and sapphire (0001) substrates at atmospheric pressure without adding any catalyst. The nanorods were characterizated in terms of their structural and optical properties. The nanorods grown on Si have a diameter of 350-400 nm and a length of 1.2 μm while those on sapphire have a diameter of 600-800 nm and a length of 2.5 μm. During the structural characterization, it is noticed that the rods grow along the (0002) plane with perfect hexagonal facet. The room temperature photoluminescence spectrum showed a strong UV emission peak at 385 nm with a weak green band emission, which confirms that nanorods have good optical properties. It is observed that the oxygen partial pressure plays an important role to control the shape and size of the nanorods in thermal evaporation growth technique.K.M.K. Srivatsa Deepak Chhikara M. 7Ebola virus disease: past, present and future显示文摘Ebola virus disease is one of the most deadly ailments known to mankind due to its high mortality rate(up to 90%) accompanying with the disease. Ebola haemorrhagic fever(EHF) is an infectious disease of animal that can be transmitted to both human and non-human primates. The first epidemic of EHF occurred in 1976 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The incubation period of ebola is less than 21 days. Ebola virus infections are depicted by immune suppression and a systemic inflammatory response that leads to damage of the vascular, coagulation and immune systems, causing multi-organ failure and shock. Five genetically distinct members of the Filoviridae family responsible for EHF are as follows: Zaire ebolavirus, Sudan ebolavirus, C?te d'Ivoire ebolavirus, Bundibugyo ebolavirus and Reston ebolavirus. The ongoing 2014 West Africa ebola epidemic has been considered as the most serious panic in the medical field with respect to both the number of human cases and death toll. The natural host for ebola virus is unknown, thus it is not possible to carry out programs to regulate or abolish virus from transmission to people. The ebola virus infection provides little chance to develop acquired immunity causing rapid progression of the disease. It is pertinent to mention that at present, there is no antiviral therapy or vaccine that is helpful against ebola virus infection in humans. The impediment of EHF necessitates much better understanding of the epidemiology of the disease, particularly the role of wildlife, as well as bats, in the spread of ebola virus to humans.Harish Rajak Deepak Kumar Jain Avineesh Singh Ajay Kumar Sharma Anshuman Dixit 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2015,5,5:4
Non-linear buckling analysis of imperfect thin spherical pressure hull for manned submersible显示文摘Thin spherical pressure hulls are used as a human occupancy in deep water applications.DNV and other standards specify the imperfection allowed for pressure hulls.Numerical analyses are carried out to find the buckling pressure for both perfect and imperfect thin spherical pressure hulls, considering the geometric and material non-linearities.It is observed that there is a huge variation in the elastic and inelastic buckling pressure in perfect spherical pressure hulls. Moreover,if the manufacturing imperfections are considered in the inelastic numerical analysis, still there is a reduction in the buckling pressure.Design criteria, for deep water pressure hulls,is that both buckling pressure and yield pressure must be greater than the design pressure. In the elastic analysis,if t/D>0.006 buckling pressure is always greater than the yield pressure whereas in the inelastic analysis, the buckling pressure is falling below the yield pressure for all t/D ratios.Hence, inelastic numerical analysis with manufacturing imperfection has to considered in the design of deep water spherical pressure hulls of manned submersibles.SB.Pranesh Deepak Kumar V.Anantha Subramanian D.Sathianarayanan GA.Ramadass 2017Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science2017,2,4:4

Experimental investigation and optimization of weld bead characteristics during submerged arc welding of AISI 1023 steel显示文摘Submerged arc welding(SAW), owing to its high deposition rate and high welding quality, is widely used in the fabrication of pressure vessel, marine vessel, pipelines and offshore structures. However, selection of an optimum combination of welding parameters is critical in achieving high weld quality and productivity. In this work, initially, the SAW experiments were performed using fractional factorial design to analyze the effect of direct and indirect input parameters, namely, welding voltage, wire feed rate, welding speed, nozzle to plate distance, flux condition, and plate thickness on weld bead geometrical responses viz. bead width, reinforcement, and penetration. The bead on plate technique was used to deposit weld metal on AISI 1023 steel plates. The effect of SAW input parameters on response variables were analyzed using main and interaction effects. The linear regression was used to develop the mathematical models for the response variable. Then, the multi-objective optimization of input parameters was carried out using desirability approach, genetic algorithm and Jaya algorithm. The Jaya algorithm offered better optimization results as compared to desirability approach, genetic algorithm.Ankush Choudhary Manoj Kumar Deepak Rajendra Unune 2019Defence Technology(防务技术)2019,15,1:4

Comparative study of the results of compound tibial shaft fractures treated by Ilizarov ring fixators and limb reconstruction system fixators显示文摘Purpose: llizarov ring fixator and limb reconstruction system (LRS) fixators have been used in the management of complex tibial fractures with severe soft tissue injuries, compound tibial fractures, and infected tibial nonunion for which conventional internal fixation cannot be contemplated. Fracture union and distraction osteogenesis can be done simultaneously with these external fixators, allowing early weight bearing. Several previous studies have shown almost equal results of rail and ring fixators for the compound tibial shaft fractures. Thus we performed a prospective study to evaluate the union rate, functional outcome and amount of limb lengthening after the treatment of compound tibial shaft fractures with or without infected nonunion by ring or LRS fixators. Methods: This prospective study was done at Sarojini Naidu Medical College and Hospital, Agra, India and included 32 patients of compound tibial shaft fractures with or without infected nonunion. There were 26 males and 6 females and the average age was 40 years. Patients were randomly divided into two groups (n - 16 for each): one underwent llizarov fixation and the other received LRS fixation. Cases were followed up for 3-24 months, 6 months on average from September 2012 to October 2014. Functional and radiological outcomes were assessed using the Association for the Study and Application of Methods of llizarov (ASAMI) criteria for both rail and ring fixators. Results: Union was achieved in all cases. Radiological outcome was found excellent in 68.75%, good in 18.75% and fair in 12.50% of cases treated by rail fixators whereas it was excellent in 56.25%, good in 18.75%, fair in 12.50% and poor in 12.50% of cases treated by ring fixators. Functional result was satis- factory in 75.00% of cases treated by rail fixator and 68.75% of cases treated by ring fixators whereas the corresponding rate of unsatisfactory was 25.00% vs. 31.25%. Conclusion: In our short-term assessment, LRS fixators show a better result than llizarov fixators in terms of fracture union and functional outcome with soft tissue care and limb length.Chandra Prakash Pal Harish Kumar Deepak Kumar K.S. 15Ayurvedic concept of Shatkriyakala:a traditional knowledge of cancer pathogenesis and therapy显示文摘The term Kriyakala refers to the recognition of the stage of a disease's progress, which helps to determine appropriate measure to correct the imbalance in Doshas(biological factors). It is a compound expression, comprised of Kriya and Kala, where Kriya means the choice to treatment(medicine, food and daily-routine) used to improve the disturbance in Doshas, and Kala refers to the stage of progress of a disease.Sushruta,an ancient Indian surgeon, has described the concept of Kriyakala in Varnaprashnadhyaya,an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text, which seeks to explain the incidence of Varnas in terms of Doshic disturbances.Varna,in modern parlance, may be described as an inflammatory process that may lead ulceration and chronic inflammation, promoting all stages of carcinogenesis.Abnormal interactions between Prakriti(genotype) and environmental factors vitiate the Doshas and impair immunity, which can lead to aberrant cell growth and cancer. Moreover, the interaction between vitiated Doshas and weak Dhatus(body tissues) manifests as cancers of a specific organ.Shatkriyakala(six stages of progress of a disease),on the other hand, provides a framework to assess the cancer and its pathogenesis in different stages.According to Ayurvedic concepts, all cancer therapies treat the affected tissues indirectly by eliminating vitiated Doshas, rejuvenating Dhatus and restoring immunity in cancer patients. The present review describes the six stages of Shatkhyakala in detail, with an emphasis on research areas to validate the concept of Shatkhyakala. This traditional knowledge can be utilized with modern technologies to detect predisposition for cancer or diagnose cancer in its early stages.Ashutosh Chauhan Deepak Kumar Semwal Satyendra Prasad Mishra Ruchi Badoni Semwal 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2:3

Application of soft computing techniques for shallow foundation reliability in geotechnical engineering显示文摘This research focuses on the application of three soft computing techniques including Minimax Probability Machine Regression(MPMR),Particle Swarm Optimization based Artificial Neural Network(ANN-PSO)and Particle Swarm Optimization based Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS-PSO)to study the shallow foundation reliability based on settlement criteria.Soil is a heterogeneous medium and the involvement of its attributes for geotechnical behaviour in soil-foundation system makes the prediction of settlement of shallow a complex engineering problem. This study explores the feasibility of soft computing techniques against the deterministic approach. The settlement of shallow foundation depends on the parametersγ(unit weight),e0(void ratio)and CC(compression index). These soil parameters are taken as input variables while the settlement of shallow foundation as output. To assess the performance of models, different performance indices i.e.RMSE,VAF,R^2,Bias Factor,MAPE,LMI,U(95),RSR,NS,RPD,etc.were used. From the analysis of results,it was found that MPMR model outperformed PSO-ANFIS and PSO-ANN.Therefore,MPMR can be used as a reliable soft computing technique for non-linear problems for settlement of shallow foundations on soils.Rahul Ray Deepak Kumar Pijush Samui Lal Bahadur Roy A.T.C.Goh Wengang Zhang 2021Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,1:3
Nanomaterials for sensing of formaldehyde in air: Principles, applications, and performance evaluation显示文摘Despite the improvement in sensing technologies, detection of small and highly reactive molecules like formaldehyde remains a highly challenging area of research. Applications of nanomaterials/nanostructures and their composites have increased as effective sensing platforms (e.g., reaction time, sensitivity, and selectivity) for the detection of aqueous or gaseous formaldehyde based on diverse sensing principles. In this review, the basic aspects of important nanomaterial-based sensing systems (e.g., electrochemical, electrical, biological, and mass variation sensors) were evaluated in relation to performance, cost, and practicality of sensing gas phase formaldehyde. Accordingly, existing knowledge gaps in such applications were assessed in various respects along with suitable recommendations for building a new roadmap for the expansion of chemical sensing technology of gas phase formaldehyde.Deepak Kukkar Kowsalya Vellingiri Rajnish Kaur Sanjeev Kumar Bhardwaj Akash Deep Ki-Hyun Kim 2019Nano Research2019,12,2:3
Predicting suitability of different scale-dependent dispersivities for reactive solute transport through stratified porous media显示文摘In this paper, the behavior of breakthrough curves(BTCs) for reactive solute transport through stratified porous media is investigated.A physical laboratory model for layered porous media was constructed,in which thin layer of gravel was sandwiched in between two thick layers of natural soil.Gravel layer and natural soil layers were hydraulically connected as single porous continuum.A constant source of tracer was connected through gravel layer and elucidated at different sampling points in the direction of flow.Flexible multiprocess non-equilibrium(MPNE) transport equation with scale-dependent dispersivity function was used to simulate experimental BTCs of reactive solute transport through layered porous media. The values of equilibrium sorption coefficient and other input parameters were obtained experimentally. The simulation of BTC was performed using MPNE model with scale-dependent dispersivity. The simulation of different scale-dependent dispersivities was then compared and it was found that for field scale of estimation of dispersivity, asymptotic and exponential dispersivity functions performed better. In continuation to the comparison of simulated BTCs obtained using different models, spatial moment analysis of each aforesaid scale-dependent dispersivity model was also done.Spatial moment analysis provides the information related to mean solute mass, rate of mass travel, and mean plume dispersion.Linear and constant dispersivities showed higher variance as compared to asymptotic and exponential dispersion functions. This supports the field applicability of asymptotic and exponential dispersivity functions. The BTCs were also found to elucidate a nonzero concentration with time, which was clearly affected by physical non-equilibrium.In natural condition, such information is required in effective aquifer remediation process.Deepak Swami Abhimanyu Sharma Pramod Kumar Sharma Dericks P.Shukla 2016Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,6:2
