1Current Status of Conventional and Molecular Interventions for Blast Resistance in Rice显示文摘Pyricularia oryzae anamorph of Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most notorious fungal pathogens causing severe economic loss in rice production worldwide. Various methods, viz. cultural, biological and molecular approaches, are utilized to counteract this pathogen. Moreover, some tolerant or resistant rice varieties have been developed with the help of breeding programmes. Isolation and molecular characterization of different blast resistance genes now open the gate for new possibilities to elucidate the actual allelic variants of these genes via various molecular breeding and transgenic approaches. However, the behavioral pattern of this fungus breakups the resistance barriers in the resistant or tolerant rice varieties. This host-pathogen barrier will be possibly countered in future research by comparative genomics data from available genome sequence data of rice and M. oryzae for durable resistance. Present review emphasized fascinating recent updates, new molecular breeding approaches, transgenic and genomics approaches(i.e. mi RNA and genome editing) for the management of blast disease in rice. The updated information will be helpful for the durable, resistance breeding programme in rice against blast pathogen.Deepti SRIVASTAVA Md SHAMIM Mahesh KUMAR Anurag MISHRA Pramila PANDEY Deepak KUMAR Prashant YADAV Mohammed Harrish SIDDIQUI Kapildeo Narayan SINGH 2017Rice science2017,24,6:8

5The effects of climate and land use change on the potential distribution and nesting habitat of the Lesser Adjutant in Nepal显示文摘Climate change and land use change pose a threat to the world’s biodiversity and have significant impacts on the geographic distribution and composition of many bird species, but little is known about how they affect threatened large-sized waterbird species that rely on agricultural landscapes. To address this gap,we investigated how climate and land use changes influence the distribution and nesting habitats of the globally vulnerable Lesser Adjutant(Leptoptilos javanicus) in Nepal.Between 2012 and 2023,we collected distribution data from 24 districts and nesting site information from 18 districts. In a nation-wide breeding survey conducted in 2020,we documented a total of 581 fledglings from 346 nests in 109 colonies. The ensemble model predicted a current potential distribution of 15%(21,637 km2) and a potential nesting habitat of 13%(19,651 km2) for the species in Nepal. The highest predicted current suitable distribution and nesting habitat was in Madhesh Province, while none was predicted in Karnali Province. The majority of this predicted distributional and nesting habitat falls on agricultural landscapes(>70%).Our model showed a likely range expansion of up to 15%(21,573 km2) for the distribution and up to 12%(17,482 km2) for the nesting habitat under SSP5-8.5 scenarios for the 2070s.The range expansion is expected to occur mainly within the current distribution and breeding range(Tarai and some regions of Siwalk),particularly in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and extend to the northern portions(Siwalik and Mid-hill regions) in other provinces. However, the current Protected Areas and Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas are inadequate for providing optimal habitats for the species.Although the model suggests range expansion, the use of such novel habitats is primarily contingent on the availability and protection of large-sized trees(particularly Bombax ceiba, observed in 65% of colonies) in agricultural regions where nesting occurs. Therefore, our research suggests that agricultural landscapes should be prioritized in management plans for the conservation of the Lesser Adjutant in Nepal.Hem Bahadur Katuwal Hari Prasad Sharma Prashant Rokka Krishna Prasad Bhusal Bishnu Prasad Bhattarai Sabina Koirala Sandeep Chhetri Luitel Shailendra Yadav Ganesh Sah Hem Sagar Baral Laxman Prasad Poudyal Lin Wang Rui-Chang Quan 2023Avian Research2023,14,3:0
6Post liver transplant recurrence in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma:not necessarily the end of the road!显示文摘Aim:We analysed outcomes using multimodality therapy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)recurrence post living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).Methods:Of 2363 LDLT’s performed between 2005 to mid 2018,435(18.4%)were for HCC within our expanded selection criteria(absence of extrahepatic disease and vascular invasion, irrespective of tumor size and number).Survival after recurrence, and prognostic factors for these patients were studied. Results:Of 435 LDLT patients,51%had HCC beyond Milan and 43%beyond UCSF criteria at the time of LDLT.pre-LT AFP>100 ng/mL and tumour FDG-18 PET avidity predicted overall survival(OS),whereas pre-LT AFP>100 ng/mL,UCSF criteria, and FDG-18 PET avidity predicted recurrence-free survival.Hundred patients(23%)developed HCC recurrence at a median time of 16 months(range 2-108 months)post LDLT.Lungs(53%),liver(37%),and bone(21%)were the most common sites of recurrence.Ninety-five patients received tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKI)after recurrence and 62 received mTOR inhibitors(protocol-based after LDLT,or post recurrence).Surgical resection of metastases was performed in 14 patients,15 received stereotactic body radiotherapy, and 18 underwent ablation(radiofrequency, microwave ablation, transarterial chemoembolisation,or percutaneous ethanol injection).One-and 3-yr OS after recurrence were 57%,and 24%respectively,with a maximum post recurrence survival of 7.5 years.HCC recurrence within one year after LDLT(P=0.004,HR=2.38,95%CI:1.325-4.276),AFP>200 ng/mL at the time of recurrence(P=0.02,HR=2.075,95%CI:1.121-3.841),and recurrence at multiple sites(P=0.047,HR=1.831,95%CI:1.009-3.321)were poor prognostics factors for post recurrence survival.Multimodality management of recurrence using combined medical, surgical, ablative treatments and radiotherapy significantly improved survival compared to the use of TKI’s or mTORi’s alone,or in combination. Conclusion:In patients accepted for LDLT beyond the conventional size-number criteria, even after HCC recurrence,an aggressive approach using multimodality therapy, when possible, aids in further prolongation of survival.Prashant Bhangui Sanjay Yadav AS Soin 2020Hepatoma Research2020,6,10:0
7Delayed information induces oscillations in a dynamical model for infectious disease显示文摘During disease outbreak,it has been observed that information about the disease prevalence induces the individuafs behavioral changes. This information is usually assumed to be generated by the density of infective individuals and active mass media. The delay in reporting of these infective individuals may have its impact on generated information.Hence,to study the impact of delay on information generation, and therefore on the disease dynamics,a delay differential equation model is proposed and analyzed. The dynamics of information with delay effect is also modeled by a separate rate equation.Model analysis is performed and a unique infected equilibrium is obtained when the basic reproduction number(R0)is greater than one, whereas the disease free equilibrium always exists. When R0<1,the disease free equilibrium is found to be locally stable independent of delay effect. The unique infected equilibrium is found to be locally stable till delay reaches a threshold value. The global stability of the unique infected equilibrium is also established under some parametric conditions by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function. The occurrence of Hopf bifurcation is observed when the delay in information crosses the threshold value.Analytically, the direction and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions is established.Further,we observed the occurrence of Hopf-Hopf bifurcation at two different delays. At first delay threshold, the endemic equilibrium loses its st ability and produces periodic oscillations via Hopf bifurcation. It further regains its stability at second delay threshold via another Hopf bifurcation.Hence, the delay effect on information shows possibility of stability switches.Numerical experiments are carried out to support the obtained analytical results. Our study infers that the disease will show persistent oscillations if there is a significant time lag in reporting of infective after the disease outbreak. Thus, the delay in dissemination of information shows rich and complex dynamics in the model and provides important insights. We also observe numerically that the saturation in information plays a significant role on stability of infected equilibrium in presence of delay.Anuj Kumar Prashant K Srivastava Anuradha Yadav 2019International Journal of Biomathematics2019,12,2:0
