| 1 | Response evaluation of chemotherapy in metastatic colorectal cancer by contrast enhanced ultrasound显示文摘AIM:To evaluate whether contrast enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) might also be used for response prediction and early response evaluation in patients receiving bevacizumab based chemotherapy for metastasized colorectal cancer.METHODS:Thirty consecutive patients with non primary resectable liver metastases from colorectal cancer underwent CEUS before treatment(CEUS date 1) and before the second(CEUS date 2) and fourth(CEUS date 3) cycle of bevacizumab based chemotherapy.Three parameters [PEAK,Time to peak(TTP) and RISE RATE]were correlated with radiological response.RESULTS:For neoadjuvant purpose a reduction of tumour mass was required to assume clinical response.Based on these response criteria there was a significant(P < 0.001) correlation in TTP between metastases of responders(9.08 s) and non-responders(14.76 s) archived on CEUS date 1.By calculating a standardized quotient(metastases divided by normal liver tissue) we were able to define a cut off,predicting response with a sensitivity of 92.3 % and a specificity of 100 %.To reflect a palliative intention only those patients with progressive disease were classified as non-responders.In this stetting TTP was also significantly(P < 0.01) different between responders and non-responders.In contrast,Peak and Rise rate did not show any significant difference between responder and non-responder.CONCLUSION:CEUS might serve as a surrogate marker to predict treatment response in patients with metastasized colorectal cancer who receive antiangiogenic therapy. | Ramin Schirin-Sokhan Ron Winograd Christoph Roderburg Jhenee Bubenzer Nicole Cabral do ó Dorothee Guggenberger Hartmut Hecker Christian Trautwein Jens J W Tischendorf | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，6： | 16 |
| 2 | Vitamin D deficiency in cirrhosis relates to liver dysfunction rather than aetiology显示文摘AIM: To examine the vitamin D status in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis compared to those with primary biliary cirrhosis. METHODS: Our retrospective case series comprised 89 patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and 34 patients with primary biliary cirrhosis who visited our outpatient clinic in 2005 and underwent a serum vitamin D status assessment. RESULTS: Among the patients with alcoholic cirrhosis, 85% had serum vitamin D levels below 50 nmol/L and 55% had levels below 25 nmol/L, as compared to 60% and 16% of the patients with primary biliary cirrhosis, respectively (P < 0.001). In both groups, serum vitamin D levels decreased with increasing liver disease severity, as determined by the Child-Pugh score. | 4 | Genetic algorithms for computational materials discovery accelerated by machine learning显示文摘Materials discovery is increasingly being impelled by machine learning methods that rely on pre-existing datasets.Where datasets are lacking,unbiased data generation can be achieved with genetic algorithms.Here a machine learning model is trained on-the-fly as a computationally inexpensive energy predictor before analyzing how to augment convergence in genetic algorithm-based approaches by using the model as a surrogate.This leads to a machine learning accelerated genetic algorithm combining robust qualities of the genetic algorithm with rapid machine learning.The approach is used to search for stable,compositionally variant,geometrically similar nanoparticle alloys to illustrate its capability for accelerated materials discovery,e.g.,nanoalloy catalysts.The machine learning accelerated approach,in this case,yields a 50-fold reduction in the number of required energy calculations compared to a traditional“brute force”genetic algorithm.This makes searching through the space of all homotops and compositions of a binary alloy particle in a given structure feasible,using density functional theory calculations. | Paul C.Jennings Steen Lysgaard Jens Strabo Hummelshøj Tejs Vegge Thomas Bligaard | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019，，1： | 5 |
| 5 | Magnetic resonance angiography for the primary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism: A review from the international workshop for pulmonary functional imaging显示文摘Pulmonary contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography(CE-MRA) is useful for the primary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism(PE). Many sites have chosen not to use CE-MRA as a first line of diagnostic tool for PE because of the speed and higher efficacy of computerized tomographic angiography(CTA). In this review, we discuss the strengths and weaknesses of CEMRA and the appropriate imaging scenarios for the primary diagnosis of PE derived from our unique multiinstitutional experience in this area. The optimal patient for this test has a low to intermediate suspicion for PE based on clinical decision rules. Patients in extremis are not candidates for this test. Younger women(< 35 years of age) and patients with iodinated contrast allergies are best served by using this modality We discuss the history of the use of this test, recent technical innovations, artifacts, direct and indirect findings for PE, ancillary findings, and the effectiveness(patient outcomes) of CE-MRA for the exclusion of PE. | 7 | Dietary supplementation of Bacillus subtilis influenced intestinal health of weaned pigs experimentally infected with a pathogenic E. coli显示文摘Background: There is growing evidence to support the beneficial effects of supplementing direct-fed microbials(DFM) on performance, health status, and immune responses of weaned pigs. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate dietary supplementation of Bacillus subtilis(DSM 25841) on growth performance, diarrhea, gut permeability and immunity of weaned pigs experimentally infected with a pathogenic F-18 Escherichia coli(E. coli).Results: The F18 E. coli infection reduced(P < 0.05) growth performance and intestinal villi height, whereas increased(P < 0.05) diarrhea and transcellular and paracellular permeability in the jejunum compared with non-challenged control. Supplementation of Bacillus subtilis linearly enhanced average daily gain of E. coli infected pigs from d 0 to 5 post-inoculation(PI)(P < 0.05) and d 0 to 11 PI(P = 0.058). Supplementation of high dose of Bacillus subtilis reduced(P < 0.05) both transcellular and paracellular permeability on d 5 and d11 PI compared with the E. coli infected pigs fed with control diet. E. coli infection up-regulated(P < 0.05)the m RNA expression of SLC5 A10(soluble carrier family 5 member 10) and MUC2(mucin 2) on d 5 PI, but down-regulated(P < 0.05) expression of SLC5 A10, MUC2, and CLDN1 on d 11 PI in jejunal mucosa when pigs were fed with the control diet. Supplementation of Bacillus subtilis linearly up-regulated(P < 0.05) the m RNA expression of CFTR and ZO1 on d 5 PI and SLC5 A10 and MUC2 on d 11 PI in jejunal mucosa of E. coli infected pigs. In addition, E. coli infection increased(P < 0.05) the m RNA expression of several immune genes(IL1 A, IL1 B, and IL7 on d 5 PI, and IL1 B, IL6, IL7, and TNF on d 11 PI) in the ileal mucosa of weaned pigs.
