1Mechanistic and therapeutic advances in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by targeting the gut microbiota显示文摘Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)is one of the most common metabolic diseases currently in the context of obesity worldwide,which contains a spectrum of chronic liver diseases,including hepatic steatosis, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatic carcinoma.In addition to the classical 'Two-hit'theory,NAFLD has been recognized as a typical gut microbiota-related disease because of the intricate role of gut microbiota in maintaining human health and disease formation.Moreover,gut microbiota is even regarded as a 'metabolic organ'that play complementary roles to that of liver in many aspects.The mechanisms underlying gut microbiota-mediated development of NAFLD include modulation of host energy metabolism,insulin sensitivity, and bile acid and choline metabolism.As a result,gut microbiota have been emerging as a novel therapeutic target for NAFLD by manipulating it in various ways,including probiotics,prebiotics,synbiotics,antibiotics,fecal microbiota transplantation,and herbal components.In this review,we summarized the most recent advances in gut microbiota-mediated mechanisms,as well as gut microbiota-targeted therapies on NAFLD.Ruiting Han Junli Ma Houkai Li 2018Frontiers of Medicine2018,12,6:11

3Activation of anterior thalamic reticular nucleus GABAergic neurons promotes arousal from propofol anesthesia in mice显示文摘Propofol is widely used for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia,which causes a rapid loss of consciousness.However,the mechanisms underlying the hypnosis effect of propofol are still not fully understood.The thalamic reticular nucleus(TRN)is crucial for regulating wakefulness,sleep rhythm generation,and sleep stability,while the role of TRN in the process of propofol-induced anesthesia is still unknown.Here,we investigated the function of the anterior TRN in propofol general anesthesia.Our results demonstrated that the neural activity of anterior TRN is suppressed during propofol anesthesia,whereas it is robustly activated from anesthesia by recording the calcium signals using fiber photometry technology.The results showed that the activation of anterior TRN neurons by chemogenetic and optogenetic methods shortens the emergency time without changing the induction time.Conversely,chemogenetic or optogenetic inhibition of the TRN neurons leads to a delay in the recovery time.Our study showed that anterior TRN is crucial for behavioral arousal without affecting the induction time of propofol anesthesia.Yanjun Liu Bing Chen Yirong Cai Yuan Han Ying Xia Nanqi Li Bingqian Fan Tianjie Yuan Junli Jiang Po Gao Weifeng Yu Yingfu Jiao Wenxian Li 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,7:3

6Correlation between radiologic features on contrastenhanced CT and pathological tumor grades in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms显示文摘Contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)contributes to the increasing detection of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms(PNENs).Nevertheless,its value for differentiating pathological tumor grades is not well recognized.In this report,we have conducted a retrospective study on the relationship between the 2017 World Health Organization(WHO)classification and CT imaging features in 94 patients.Most of the investigated features eventually provided statistically significant indicators for discerning PNENs G3 from PNENs G1/G2,including tumor size,shape,margin,heterogeneity,intratumoral blood vessels,vascular invasion,enhancement pattern in both contrast phases,enhancement degree in both phases,tumor-to-pancreas contrast ratio in both phases,common bile duct dilatation,lymph node metastases,and liver metastases.Ill-defined tumor margin was an independent predictor for PNENs G3 with the highest area under the curve(AUC)of 0.906 in the multivariable logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.The portal enhancement ratio(PER)was shown the highest AUC of 0.855 in terms of quantitative features.Our data suggest that the traditional contrastenhanced CT still plays a vital role in differentiation of tumor grades and heterogeneity analysis prior to treatment.Wenbin Xu Han Yan Lulu Xu Mingna Li Wentao Gao Kuirong Jiang Junli Wu Yi Miao 2021The Journal of Biomedical Research2021,35,3:2

8Factors contributing to rapid decline of Arctic sea ice in autumn显示文摘Autumn Arctic sea ice has been declining since the beginning of the era of satellite sea ice observations.In this study,we examined the factors contributing to the decline of autumn sea ice concentration.From the Beaufort Sea to the Barents Sea,autumn sea ice concentration has decreased considerably between 1982 and 2020,and the rates of decline were the highest around the Beaufort Sea.We calculated the correlation coefficients between sea ice extent(SIE)anomalies and anomalies of sea surface temperature(SST),surface air temperature(SAT)and specific humidity(SH).Among these coefficients,the largest absolute value was found in the coefficient between SIE and SAT anomalies for August to October,which has a value of−0.9446.The second largest absolute value was found in the coefficient between SIE and SH anomalies for September to November,which has a value of−0.9436.Among the correlation coefficients between SIE and SST anomalies,the largest absolute value was found in the coefficient for August to October,which has a value of−0.9410.We conducted empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analyses of sea ice,SST,SAT,SH,sea level pressure(SLP)and the wind field for the months where the absolute values of the correlation coefficient were the largest.The first EOFs of SST,SAT and SH account for 39.07%,63.54%and 47.60%of the total variances,respectively,and are mainly concentrated in the area between the Beaufort Sea and the East Siberian Sea.The corresponding principal component time series also indicate positive trends.The first EOF of SLP explains 41.57%of the total variance.It is mostly negative in the central Arctic.Over the Beaufort,Chukchi and East Siberian seas,the zonal wind weakened while the meridional wind strengthened.Results from the correlation and EOF analyses further verified the effects of the ice-temperature,ice-SH and ice-SLP feedback mechanisms in the Arctic.These mechanisms accelerate melting and decrease the rate of formation of sea ice.In addition,stronger meridional winds favor the flow of warm air from lower latitudes towards the polar region,further promoting Arctic sea ice decline.LI Shuyao CUI Hongyan XU Junli GONG Xiang QIAO Fangli YANG Yanzhao WANG Ping HAN Yuqun SHAN Feng 2021Advances in Polar Science2021,32,2:1
9Effect of statins use on the prevention of venous thromboembolism: a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective: To estimate the effect of statins use on the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE (1980-June 2012), EMBASE (1980-June 2012), Google Scholar, Cochrane Library, and ISI Web of Science, manually reviewed references, and contacted experts. Case-control studies and cohort studies that compared any dose of statin with no statin or placebo are included. Data extraction and study quality evaluation were independently conducted in duplicate. Results: 12 studies including four cohort studies and eight case-control studies were identified and eligible for meta-analysis. Upon meta-analysis, statin use was associated with a statistically significant reduction in the odds of developing VTE (OR 0.91, 95% CI 0.86-0.96). Conclusion: This meta-analysis of current and available literature suggests that statins can reduce patient's risk of developing VTE. 11Introgression of chromosome 6PL terminal segment from Agropyron cristatum to increase both grain number and grain weight in wheat显示文摘Agropyron cristatum(2n=4x=28,PPPP),which harbours many high-yield and disease-resistance genes,is a promising donor for wheat improvement.Narrow genetic diversity and the trade-off between grain weight and grain number have become bottlenecks for increasing grain yield in wheat.In this study,a novel translocation line,WAT650l,was derived from the chromosome 6P addition line 4844–12,which can simultaneously increase both grain number per spike(GNS)and thousand-grain weight(TGW).Cytological analysis and molecular marker analysis revealed that WAT650l was a 5BL.5BS-6PL(bin 12–17)translocation line.Assessment of agronomic traits and analysis of the BC4F2 and BC5F2 populations suggested that the 6PL terminal chromosome segment in WAT650l resulted in increased grain number per spike(average increased by 14.07 grains),thousand-grain weight(average increased by 4.31 g),flag leaf length,plant height,spikelet number per spike and kernel number per spikelet during the two growing seasons of 2020–2021 and 2021–2022.Additionally,the increased GNS locus and high-TGW locus of WAT650l were mapped to the bins 16–17 and 12–13,respectively,on chromosome 6PL by genetic population analysis of three translocation lines.In summary,we provide a valuable germplasm resource for broadening the genetic base of wheat and overcoming the negative relationship between GNS and TGW in wheat breeding.Yida Lin Shenghui Zhou Xuezhong Liang Bing Han Junli Yang Baojin Guo Jinpeng Zhang Haiming Han Weihua Liu Xinming Yang Xiuquan Li Lihui Li 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:1

14FLIGHT:Federated Learning with IRS for Grouped Heterogeneous Training显示文摘In recent years,federated learning(FL)has played an important role in private data-sensitive scenarios to perform learning tasks collectively without data exchange.However,due to the centralized model aggregation for heterogeneous devices in FL,the last updated model after local training delays the convergence,which increases the economic cost and dampens clients’motivations for participating in FL.In addition,with the rapid development and application of intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)in the next-generation wireless communication,IRS has proven to be one effective way to enhance the communication quality.In this paper,we propose a framework of federated learning with IRS for grouped heterogeneous training(FLIGHT)to reduce the latency caused by the heterogeneous communication and computation of the clients.Specifically,we formulate a cost function and a greedy-based grouping strategy,which divides the clients into several groups to accelerate the convergence of the FL model.The simulation results verify the effectiveness of FLIGHT for accelerating the convergence of FL with heterogeneous clients.Besides the exemplified linear regression(LR)model and convolutional neural network(CNN),FLIGHT is also applicable to other learning models.Tong Yin Lixin Li Donghui Ma Wensheng Lin Junli Liang Zhu Han 2022Journal of Communications and Information Networks2022,7,2:0
15Assessment of Water Provenances in Koxkar Glacier Region at the South Slope of Mt. Tianshan,China显示文摘Various water samples were collected for electrical conductivity (EC) and δ^18O analysis,and the proportion and contribution of atmospheric precipitation,glacier ice and shallow groundwater to discharge in the Koxkar glacier basin at the south slope of the Tianshan Mountains were studied.The results show that glacial ice-water recharge was dominant,accounting for 72.11% of the annual runoff.It also had a significant positive correlation with temperature during the warm season (from May to September).However,glacier ice ablation replenishment still existed when the temperature in the cold season was below the critical temperature of 0 ℃.This could be that the heat generated by the friction between the ice body and the ice bed during the subglacial ice sliding process led ice to melt,what's more,the stored water in the geometric passages inside and below the glacier could slowly release.Groundwater recharge accounted for 16.38% of the total runoff.The supplement was small and its variation range was relatively small in the cold season.But in the warm season,the amount of groundwater recharge increased and changed drastically.It might be that the seasonal frozen soil in the basin was widely developed and was affected by temperature changes.Atmospheric precipitation replenishment only accounted for 11.51%.The daily precipitation recharge river water had a significant response to regional precipitation,but there was hysteresis in time,and there was still precipitation recharge runoff even in the absence of precipitation.Wang Jian Xu Junli Han Haidong Xu Xiaohui 2019Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,5:0

17Non-selective pulmonary angiography for venous thromboembolism diagnosis, a better choice?显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the efficiency of non-selective pulmonary angiography for pulmonary embolism diagnosis. Methods: 105 consecutive subjects diagnosed with limb deep venous thrombosis (DVT) by lower limb phlebography underwent non-selective pulmonary angiography. Results: 52.38% patients were diagnosed with pulmonary embolism, 21.9% with inferior vena cava thromboembolism, and 9.52% with pulmonary embolism combined with inferior vena cava thrombosis. Images obtained by non-selective pulmonary angiography had a good correlation with selective pulmonary angiography. Conclusion: The non-selective pulmonary angiography was a simplified, efficient and safe method for pulmonary embolism diagnosis. 19Whole-exome sequencing of a multicenter cohort identifies genetic changes associated with clinical phenotypes in pediatric nephrotic syndrome显示文摘Understanding the association between the genetic and clinical phenotypes in children with nephrotic syndrome(NS)of different etiologies is critical for early clinical guidance.We employed whole-exome sequencing(WES)to detect monogenic causes of NS in a multicenter cohort of 637 patients.In this study,a genetic cause was identified in 30.0%of the idiopathic steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome(SRNS)patients.Other than congenital nephrotic syndrome(CNS),there were no significant differences in the incidence of monogenic diseases based on the age at manifestation.Causative mutations were detected in 39.5%of patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis(FSGS)and 9.2%of those with minimal change disease(MCD).In terms of the patterns in patients with different types of steroid resistance,a single gene mutation was identified in 34.8%of patients with primary resistance,2.9%with secondary resistance,and 71.4%of children with multidrug resistance.Among the various intensified immunosuppressive therapies,tacrolimus(TAC)showed the highest response rate,with 49.7%of idiopathic SRNS patients achieving complete remission.Idiopathic SRNS patients with monogenic disease showed a similar multidrug resistance pattern,and only 31.4%of patients with monogenic disease achieved a partial remission on TAC.During an average 4.1-year follow-up,21.4%of idiopathic SRNS patients with monogenic disease progressed to end-stage renal disease(ESRD).Collectively,this study provides evidence that genetic testing is necessary for presumed steroid-resistant and idiopathic SRNS patients,especially those with primary and/or multidrug resistance.Jia Jiao Li Wang Fenfen Ni Mo Wang Shipin Feng Xiaojie Gao Han Chan Xueying Yang Hao Lee Huan Chi Xuelan Chen Daoqi Wu Gaofu Zhang Baohui Yang Anshuo Wang Qin Yang Junli Wan Sijie Yu Xiaoqin Li Mei Wang Xiaofeng Chen Xianying Mai Xiongzhong Ruan Haiping Yang Qiu Li 2022Genes & Diseases2022,9,6:0
20Global dynamics in a model for anthrax transmission in animal populations显示文摘In this paper,we propose a deterministic model to study the transmission dynamics of anthrax disease,which includes live animals,carcasses,spores in the environment and vectors.We derive three biologically plausible and insightful quantities(reproduction numbers)that determine the stability of the equilibria.We carry out rigorous mathematical analysis on the model dynamics,the global stability of the disease-free and vector-free equilibrium,the disease-free equilibrium and the vector-free disease equilibrium is proved.The global stability of the endemic equilibrium as the basic reproduction number is greater than one is derived in the special case in which the disease-related death rate is zero.The possibility of backward bifurcation is briefly discussed.Numerical analyses are carried out to understand the transmission dynamics of anthrax and investigate effective control strategies for the outbreaks of the disease.Our studies suggest that the larval vector control measure should be taken as early as possible to control the vector population size,a vaccination policy and an animal carcass removal policy are useful methods to control the prevalence of the diseases in infected animal populations,the adult vector control measure is also necessary to prevent the transmission of anthrax.Junli Liu Mengjie Han Tailei Zhang 2023International Journal of Biomathematics2023,16,6:0
