1Mass extinction and Pangea integration during the Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition显示文摘The greatest Phanerozoic mass extinction happened at the end-Permian to earliest Triassic.About 95%species,82%genera,and more than half families became extinct,constituting the sole macro-mass extinction in geological history.This event not only caused the great extinction but also destroyed the 200 Myr-long Paleozoic marine ecosystem,prompted its transition to Mesozoic ecosystem,and induced coal gap on land as well as reef gap and chert gap in ocean.The biotic crisis during the Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition was a long process of co-evolution between geospheres and biosphere.The event sequence at the Permian-Triassic boundary(PTB)reveals two-episodic pattern of rapidly deteriorating global changes and biotic mass extinction and the intimate relationship between them.The severe global changes coupling multiple geospheres may have affected the Pangea integration on the Earth’s surface spheres,which include:the Pangea integration→enhanced mountain height and basin depth,changes of wind and ocean current systems;enhanced ocean basin depth→the greatest Phanerozoic regression at PTB,disappearance of epeiric seas and subsequent rapid transgression;the Pangea integration→thermal isolation effect of continental lithosphere and decrease of mid-ocean ridges→development of continental volcanism;two-episode volcanism causing LIPs of the Emeishan Basalt and the Siberian Trap(259–251 Ma)→global warming and mass extinction;continental aridification and replacement of monsoon system by latitudinal wind system→destruction of vegetation;enhanced weathering and CH4emission→negative excursion ofδ13C;mantle plume→crust doming→regression;possible relation between the Illawarra magnetic reversal and the PTB extinction,and so on.Mantle plume produced the Late Permian LIPs and mantle convection may have caused the process of the Pangea integration.Subduction,delamination,and accumulation of the earth’s cool lithospheric material at the'D'layer of CMB started mantle plume by heat compensation and disturbed the outer core thermo-convection,and the latter in turn would generate the mid-Permian geomagnetic reversal.These core and mantle perturbations may have caused the Pangea integration and two successive LIPs in the Permian,and probably finally the mass extinction at the PTB.YIN HongFu SONG HaiJun 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,11:21
2Land-atmosphere-ocean coupling associated with the Tibetan Plateau and its climate impacts显示文摘This paper reviews recent advances regarding land-atmosphere-ocean coupling associated with the Tibetan Plateau(TP)and its climatic impacts.Thermal forcing over the TP interacts strongly with that over the Iranian Plateau,forming a coupled heating system that elevates the tropopause,generates a monsoonal meridional circulation over South Asia and creates conditions of large-scale ascent favorable for Asian summer monsoon development.TP heating leads to intensification and westward extension(northward movement)of the South Asian High(Atlantic Intertropical Convergence Zone),and exerts strong impacts on upstream climate variations from North Atlantic to West Asia.It also affects oceanic circulation and buoyancy fields via atmospheric stationary wave trains and air-sea interaction processes,contributing to formation of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.The TP thermal state and atmospheric-oceanic conditions are highly interactive and Asian summer monsoon variability is controlled synergistically by internal TP variability and external forcing factors.Yimin Liu Mengmeng Lu Haijun Yang Anmin Duan Bian He Song Yang Guoxiong Wu 2020National Science Review2020,7,3:21
3Ecological evolution across the Permian/Triassic boundary at the Kangjiaping Section in Cili County, Hunan Province, China显示文摘The stratigraphic sequence of calcimicrobialite facies at the Permian-Triassic (P/Tr) boundary has well recorded the biotic and environmental transition across the end-Permian catastrophic events. The biostratigraphy, microfacies, carbon isotopes, and fossil records across the P/Tr boundary have been studied at the Kangjiaping Section in Cili County, Hunan Province. Three biostratigraphic zones, Palaeofusulina-Colaniella Zone, Hindeodus parvus Zone, and Isarcicella staeschei Zone, are identified. The excursion of δ13Ccarb exhibits a sharp negative shift in the calcimicrobialite at the P/Tr boundary, which is roughly accordant with the abrupt bioclastic decline. In addition, five types of microfacies are recognized, including algal-foraminifer bioclastic limestone, algal-laminated calcimicrobial limestone, oolitic grainstone, vermiculate limestone, and intraclastic wackstone. 4Research on power electronic transformer applied in AC/DC hybrid distribution networks显示文摘The AC/DC hybrid distribution network is one of the trends in distribution network development, which poses great challenges to the traditional distribution transformer. In this paper, a new topology suitable for AC/DC hybrid distribution network is put forward according to the demands of power grid, with advantages of accepting DG and DC loads, while clearing DC fault by blocking the clamping double sub-module(CDSM) of input stage. Then, this paper shows the typical structure of AC/DC distribution network that is hand in hand. Based on the new topology, this paper designs the control and modulation strategies of each stage, where the outer loop controller of input stage is emphasized for its twocontrol mode. At last, the rationality of new topology and the validity of control strategies are verified by the steady and dynamic state simulation. 6The large increase of δ^(13)C_(carb)-depth gradient and the end-Permian mass extinction显示文摘Carbonate carbon isotope δ(13Ccarb) has received considerable attention in the Permian-Triassic transition for its rapid negative shift coinciding with the great end-Permian mass extinction event.The mechanism has long been debated for such a δ13Ccarb negative excursion through the end-Permian crisis and subsequent large perturbations in the entire Early Triassic.A δ13Ccarb depth gradient is observed at the Permian-Triassic boundary sections of different water-depths,i.e.,the Yangou,Meishan,and Shangsi sections,and such a large δ13Ccarb-depth gradient near the end-Permian mass extinction horizon is believed to result from a stratified Paleotethys Ocean with widespread anoxic/euxinic deep water.The evolution of δ13Ccarb-depth gradient combined with paleontological and geochemical data suggests that abundant cyanobacteria and vigorous biological pump in the immediate aftermath of the end-Permian extinction would be the main cause of the large δ13Ccarb-depth gradient,and the enhanced continental weathering with the mass extinction on land provides a mass amount of nutriment for the flourishing cyanobacteria.Photic zone anoxia/euxinia from the onset of chemocline upward excursion might be the direct cause for the mass extinction whereas the instability of chemocline in the stratified Early Triassic ocean would be the reason for the delayed and involuted biotic recovery.SONG HaiJun TONG JinNan XIONG YanLin SUN DongYing TIAN Li SONG HuYue 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,7:11

9Characterization of 500 Chinese patients with cervical esophageal cancer by clinicopathological and treatment outcomes显示文摘Objective: There are no comprehensive studies on survival outcomes and optimal treatment protocols for cervical esophageal cancer(CEC), due to its rare clinical prevalence. Our objective was to determine the relationship between pathological characteristics, treatment protocols, and survival outcomes in Chinese CEC patients.Methods: A total of 500 Chinese CEC patients were selected from our 500,000 esophageal and gastric cardia carcinoma database(1973–2018). There were two main groups: patients treated with surgery, and patients receiving non-surgical treatments(radiotherapy, radiochemotherapy, and chemotherapy). The Chi-square test and Kaplan–Meier method were used to compare the continuous variables and survival.Results: Among the 500 CEC patients, 278(55.6%) were male, and the median age was 60.9 ± 9.4 years. A total of 496 patients(99.2%) were diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. In 171(34.2%) patients who received surgery, 22(12.9%) had undergone laryngectomy. In 322(64.4%) patients who received non-surgical treatments, 245(76.1%) received radiotherapy. Stratified survival analysis showed that only T stage was related with survival outcomes for CEC patients in the surgical group, and the outcomes between laryngectomy and non-laryngectomy patients were similar. It was noteworthy that the 5-year survival rate was similar in CEC patients among the different groups treated with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or radiochemotherapy(P = 0.244). Conclusions: The CEC patients had similar survival outcomes after curative esophagectomy and radiotherapy, including those with or without total laryngectomy. 10Containment of soft wall casing wrapped with Kevlar fabric显示文摘Aramid fabrics have been commonly used in the civil turbofan engine fan blade containment system for its excellent performance. To investigate the behavior and capability of soft wall containment casing, a series of fan blade released tests were conducted on the high-speed spin tester.The soft wall casing was fabricated by wrapping multiple layers of Kevlar49 plain woven fabric around a thin steel ring. Casings with different inner metal ring and outer fabric layers number were compared. The method of using the explicit dynamic software LS-DYNA to establish the finite element analysis model for the quantitative analysis of the containment process was developed and conducted. The simulation results are in good agreement with the test results. It is shown that the containment process of the soft wall casing can be divided into three impact stages. The casing with low-stiffness inner metal ring will get severe overall deformation and lose the structural integrity when it suffers the blade impact. Kevlar fabric layers will appear large bulge on outside surface and absorb the most impact dynamic energy of the high speed released fan blade. 11The microfacies and sedimentary responses to the mass extinction during the Permian-Triassic transition at Yangou Section, Jiangxi Province, South China显示文摘A Permian-Triassic(P-Tr) boundary section of continuous carbonate facies, which well recorded the biotic and environmental processes through the great P-Tr transition in the shallow non-microbialite carbonate facies, has been studied in Yangou, Leping County, Jiangxi Province. The P-Tr sequence is well correlated with the Meishan section according to the conodont biostratigraphy and the excursion of carbon isotopes. A series of high-resolution thin-sections from the P-Tr boundary carbonate rocks at the Yangou section are studied to explore the interrelation between environmental change and biological evolution during the transitional time. Six microfacies have been identified based upon the observation of the thin-sections under a microscope on the grains and matrix and their interrelation. Combined with the data of fossils and carbon isotopes, Microfacies 4(MF-4), coated-grain-bearing foraminifer oolitic sparitic limestone, and Microfacies 6(MF-6), dark shelly micritic limestone, should be the different responses to the two episodes of mass extinction and environmental events that can be correlated throughout South China and even over the world. The oolitic limestone of MF-4 is the first finding from the latest Permian strata in South China and it might be a proxy of an unusual environmental condition of high pCO2, low sulfate concentration and of microbial blooming in the aftermath of the latest Permian mass extinction. The micritic limestone of MF-6 containing rich micro-gastropods and ostracods probably represents the blooming event of disaster taxa in the earliest Triassic environment. 12Conodont and Ammonoid Biostratigraphies around the Permian-Triassic Boundary from the Jianzishan of South China显示文摘Conodonts and ammonoids have played significant roles in the Permian-Triassic timescale.In order to uncover the nature of the Permian-Triassic mass extinction and subsequent recovery,we studied conodont and ammonoid biostratigraphies around the Permian-Triassic boundary from Jianzishan of Hubei,South China.A total of four conodont zones and two ammonoid beds are recognized.In ascending order,the conodont zones are Late Changhsingian Clarkina changxingensis Zone,Clarkina yini Zone and Griesbachian Hindeodus parvus Zone,Hindeodus postparvus Zone;the ammonoid beds are Late Griesbachian Ophiceras beds and Early Dienerian Ussuridiscus varaha beds.At Jianzishan,Ophiceras beds are stratigraphically younger than Hindeodus parvus Zone,but it is likely to be the same level with Hindeodus postparvus Zone.The Lower Dienerian in Bed 8 in this section is characterized by ammonoid Ussuridiscus varaha beds,which is associated with many Late Griesbachian conodonts including Hindeodus postparvus,Hindeodus praeparvus,Hindeodus typicalis,Hindeodus pisai,Hindeodus latidentatus,Hindeodus parvus,Hindeodus anterodentatus and Isarcicella turgida,indicating these conodont species could pass through the Griesbachian-Dienerian boundary and occurred in the Early Dienerian oceans.Ruoyu Bai Xu Dai Haijun Song 2017Journal of Earth Science2017,28,4:4
13Seawater Temperature and Dissolved Oxygen over the Past 500 Million Years显示文摘Ocean temperature and dissolved oxygen concentrations are critical factors that control ocean productivity, carbon and nutrient cycles, and marine habitat. However, the evolution of these two factors in the geologic past are still unclear. Here, we use a new oxygen isotope database to establish the sea surface temperature(SST) curve in the past 500 million years. The database is composed of 22 796 oxygen isotope values of phosphatic and calcareous fossils. The result shows two prolonged cooling events happened in the Late Paleozoic and Late Cenozoic, coinciding with two major ice ages indicated by continental glaciation data, and seven global warming events that happened in the Late Cambrian, Silurian–Devonian transition, Late Devonian, Early Triassic, Toarcian, Late Cretaceous, and Paleocene–Eocene transition. The SSTs during these warming periods are about 5–30 °C higher than the present-day level. Oxygen contents of shallow seawater are calculated from temperature, salinity, and atmospheric oxygen. The results show that major dissolved oxygen valleys of surface seawater coincide with global warming events and ocean anoxic events. We propose that the combined effect of temperature and dissolved oxygen account for the long-term evolution of global oceanic redox state during the Phanerozoic.Haijun Song Paul B. 14Enhanced digestion inhibition and mucus penetration of F127-modified self-nanoemulsions for improved oral delivery显示文摘Self-nanoemulsifying systems(SNEs) have excellent ability to improve the solubility ofpoorly water-soluble drugs(PWSD). However, SNEs are likely to be degraded in gastroin-testinal(GIT) when their surface is recognized by lipase/co-lipase enzyme complex, result-ing in rapid release and precipitation of encapsulated drugs. The precipitates are then cap-tured and removed by intestinal mucus, reducing the delivery efficacy of SNEs. Herein, theamphiphilic polymer Pluronic? F127 was incorporated into long and short-chain triglyc-erides(LCT, SCT) based SNEs to diminish the recognition and therefore minimized theirdegradation by enzymes and clearance by mucus. The SNEs were characterized in termsof particle size, zeta potential and stability. Ex vivo multiple particles tracking studies wereperformed by adding particle solution into fresh rat mucus. Cellular uptake of SNEs wereconducted by using E12 cells, the absorption and distribution in small intestine were alsostudied after oral administration in male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats. The in vitro digestionrate of SNEs were found to be in following order SCT-SNE > SCT-F127-SNE > LCT-SNE > LCT-F127-SNE. Moreover, the LCT-F127-SNE was found to be most effective in enhancing cellularuptake, resulting in 3.5-fold, 2.1-fold and 1.7-fold higher than that of SCT-SNE, LCT-SNE andSCT-F127-SNE, respectively. After incubating the SNE with E12 cells, the LCT-F127-SNE ex-hibited the highest amount regarding both mucus penetration and cellular uptake, with anuptake amount number(via bicinchoninic acid(BCA) analysis) of 3.5-fold, 2.1-fold and 1.7-fold higher than that of SCT-SNE, LCT-SNE and SCT-F127-SNE, respectively. The in vivo results revealed that orally administered LCT-F127-SNE could significantly increase the bioavailability of Cyclosporine A(CsA), which was approximately 2.43-fold, 1.33-fold and 1.80-fold higher than that of SCT-SNE, SCT-F127-SNE and LCT-SNE, respectively. 15Rapid Carbonate Depositional Changes Following the Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction: Sedimentary Evidence from South China显示文摘Various environmental changes were associated with the Permian-Triassic mass extinction at 252.2 Ma. Diverse unusual sediments and depositional phenomena have been uncovered as responses to environmental and biotic changes. Lithological and detailed conodont biostratigraphic correlations within six Permian-Triassic boundary sections in South China indicate rapid fluctuations in carbonate deposition. Four distinct depositional phases can be recognized:(1) normal carbonate deposition on the platform and slope during the latest Permian;(2) reduced carbonate deposition at the onset of the main extinction horizon;(3) expanded areas of carbonate deposition during the Hindeodus changxingsensis Zone to the H. parvus Zone; and(4) persistent mud-enriched carbonate deposition in the aftermath of the Permian-Triassic transition. Although availability of skeletal carbonate was significantly reduced during the mass extinction, the increase in carbonate deposition did not behave the same way. The rapid carbonate depositional changes, presented in this study, suggest that diverse environmental changes played key roles in the carbonate deposition of the Permian-Triassic mass extinction and onset of its aftermath. 17Significantly enhanced thermoelectric performance of flexible PEDOT nanowire film via coating Te nanostructures显示文摘A free-standing and highly conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)nanowire(NW)film was used as a working electrode for electrodepositing tellurium(Te).By adjusting the electrodeposition time,the thermoelectric(TE)performance of the free-standing hybrid filmwas optimized.The maximum power factor of 240.0 μWm^(-1) K^(-2)(with the electrical conductivity of 561.4 S cm^(-1) and the Seebeck coefficient of 65.4 μVK^(-1))was obtained from a hybrid film electrodeposited for 7 h,which was 8 times higher than that of the pristine PEDOT NW film.In addition,the electrical conductivity of the film almost did not change even after being bent for 400 times around a rod with radius of 4 mm,indicating an excellent flexibility.This work offers a facile approach to prepare multilayered TE films,and desirable combination of excellent flexibility,high electrical conductivity,and facile process scalability makes the free-standing PEDOT NW film particularly promising for portable and flexible electronics.Dan Ni Haijun Song Yuanxun Chen Kefeng Cai 2020Journal of Materiomics2020,6,2:2
18Triassic integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Triassic rocks are widespread in China, and both marine and terrestrial strata are well developed. The Triassic stratigraphic architecture of China is very complex in both spatial variation of the so-called 'South Marine and North Continental', i.e. the southern areas of China occupied mostly by marine facies while the northern China by terrestrial facies during the Triassic Period, and temporal transition of the 'Lower Marine and Upper Continental', i.e. the lower part of the Triassic System composed mainly of marine facies and the upper part of terrestrial strata especially in South China. Although the Global Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP) of the Permian-Triassic boundary is located in South China, the Triassic of China except for some marine Lower-Middle Triassic depositions shows significantly local characteristics and is hardly correlated with the global chronostratigraphic chart. Consequently, the Triassic of China contains not only the international research hotspots but also difficult points in stratigraphic study. This paper aims to present a brief review of the Triassic in China, including chronostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and chemostratigraphy, and summarize an integrated Triassic stratigraphic framework of China. Accordingly, a stratigraphic correlation is proposed for the lithostratigraphic sequences among the three tectono-paleogeographic stratigraphic regions. The comprehensive study indicates that ammonoids are the classic index fossils in Triassic biostratigraphy but conodonts are more advantageous in the study and definition of the Triassic chronostratigraphic boundaries. China still has the potential to optimize the GSSPs of the Induan-Olenekian boundary and Olenekian-Anisian boundary. The correlation of the Permian-Triassic boundary between marine and terrestrial facies might be achieved with the help of the Permian-Triassic 'transitional bed' and its related biotic and environmental events in association with the biostratigraphic study of conchostracan, vertebrate and plant fossils. In addition, the carbon isotopes have been proved to be one of the powerful methods in marine Triassic stratigraphic study, whereas the oxygen and strontium isotopes may be additional important bridges to establish the correlation between the marine and terrestrial strata, but as yet lacking of relevant studies in terrestrial strata. 20Effect of Different Ionic Liquids on 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Preparation from Glucose in DMA over AlCl_(3):Experimental and Theoretical Study显示文摘In this work,effect of different ionic liquids(ILs)on 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)preparation from glucose in N,N-dimethylacetamide(DMA)over AlCl3 was revealed by a combined experimental and computational study.ILs used as cocatalysts in this work included N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone hydrogen sulfate([NMP]HSO_(4)),N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone methyl sulfate([NMP]CH_(3)SO_(3)),N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone chlorine([NMP]Cl)and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone bromide([NMP]Br)which were endowed with the same cation but different anions.According to the conclusion that fructose was intermediate product from glucose to HMF,we found fructose was transformed to more by-products by[NMP]H_(S)O_(4),making HMF yield decline significantly when glucose was treated as substrate.Neither glucose nor fructose could be converted by[NMP]CH_(3)SO_(3)efficiently,leading to its no influence on glucose conversion to HMF.[NMP]Br had a higher selectivity for HMF from fructose than[NMP]Cl and AlCl3.Besides,Al^(3+)preferred to combine with Br−,slightly decreasing both the overall free energy barrier for glucose isomerization and activation barrier for H-shift at 393.15 K.So a high HMF yield of 57%was obtained from glucose catalyzed by AlCl3 together with[NMP]Br under mild conditions.Yan Yang Wentao Liu Ningning Wang Haijun Wang Wei Li Zhanxin Song 2015Chinese Journal of Chemistry2015,33,5:1
