Volcanism at the Permian-Triassic Boundary in South China and Its Effects on Mass Extinction显示文摘This paper discusses the clayrocks widespread at the Permian-Triassic boundary, which are mostly of volcanic origin. Volcanogenetic textures, structures and minerals such as high-temperature quartz are found in clayrocks at the Permian-Triassic boundary in many places. Thousands of microspherules have been collected from the Boundary clayrocks, many of which exhibit the typical features of the process from melting to cooling and solidification. indicating that they were formed by volcanic eruption or extraterrestrial impact. Volcanic effects on the Permian-Triassic mass extinction may be reflected in conodonts, algae and ammonoids. The Boundary clayrocks are found in many Permian-Triassic sections along the coast of Tethys. Their orighin remains to be studied.Yin Hongfu, Huang Siji, Zhang Kexin, Yang Fengqing, Ding Meihua, Bi Xianmei and Zhang Suxin China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, Hubei 1989Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1989,63,4:22
Mass extinction and Pangea integration during the Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition显示文摘The greatest Phanerozoic mass extinction happened at the end-Permian to earliest Triassic.About 95%species,82%genera,and more than half families became extinct, constituting the sole macro-mass extinction in geological history. This event not only caused the great extinction but also destroyed the 200 Myr-long Paleozoic marine ecosystem, prompted its transition to Mesozoic ecosystem, and induced coal gap on land as well as reef gap and chert gap in ocean. The biotic crisis during the Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition was a long process of co-evolution between geospheres and biosphere. The event sequence at the Permian-Triassic boundary(PTB)reveals two-episodic pattern of rapidly deteriorating global changes and biotic mass extinction and the intimate relationship between them. The severe global changes coupling multiple geospheres may have affected the Pangea integration on the Earth’s surface spheres, which include:the Pangea integration→enhanced mountain height and basin depth, changes of wind and ocean current systems;enhanced ocean basin depth→the greatest Phanerozoic regression at PTB,disappearance of epeiric seas and subsequent rapid transgression;the Pangea integration→thermal isolation effect of continental lithosphere and decrease of mid-ocean ridges→development of continental volcanism;two-episode volcanism causing LIPs of the Emeishan Basalt and the Siberian Trap(259–251 Ma)→global warming and mass extinction;continental aridification and replacement of monsoon system by latitudinal wind system→destruction of vegetation;enhanced weathering and CH4emission→negative excursion ofδ13C;mantle plume→crust doming→regression;possible relation between the Illawarra magnetic reversal and the PTB extinction, and so on.Mantle plume produced the Late Permian LIPs and mantle convection may have caused the process of the Pangea integration.Subduction, delamination, and accumulation of the earth’s cool lithospheric material at the'D'layer of CMB started mantle plume by heat compensation and disturbed the outer core thermo-convection,and the latter in turn would generate the mid-Permian geomagnetic reversal. These core and mantle perturbations may have caused the Pangea integration and two successive LIPs in the Permian, and probably finally the mass extinction at the PTB.YIN HongFu SONG HaiJun 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,11:21
New paleontological evidence on time determination of the east part of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange and its tectonic significance显示文摘New paleontological evidence suggests that the composition of the matrix and slices from the middle and the south of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange Belt is very complex, ranging from Proterozoic to Mesozoic in geological time. A Cambrian acritarch assemblage has been discovered from the middle part of the Eastern Kunlun Mélange, a Neoproterozoic to the early Paleozoic acritarch assemblage has been discovered from the south of the Eastern Kunlun Mé lange, and so has been an Early Permian radiolarian from the A’nyemaqen Mélange in Buqing- shan. In addition, some sporopollen has been obtained from the Mesozoic tectonic slices. The above-mentioned paleontological evidence indicates that the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt experienced two episodes from ocean to continent from the Neoproterozoic to the Early Paleo- zoic and in the Late Paleozoic respectively. In the process of intracontinent development in Mesozoic, because of heavy thrust-nappe, strike-slip sheer and crust shortening, the Mesozoic formation was intercalated in mélange by slices and the Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt became more complex.ZHANG Kexin LIN Qixiang ZHU Yunhai YIN Hongfu LUO Mansheng CHEN Nengsong WANG Guocan 2004Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,10:17
Sequence Stratigraphy of the Permian--Triassia Boundary Section of Changxing, Zhejiang, Southern China显示文摘Three third-order sequences and about one hundred high-frequency cycles or Milankovitchcycles within the Late Permian Changxingian to Early Triassic Griesbachian are identified in theMeishan Section of Changxing, Zhejiang Province, southern China, the candidate stratotype sec-tion of the global Permo-Triassic boundary, based on a detailed study of the biological, ecological and high-resolution allochthonous cyclic events, microfacies and depositional systems.Furthermore, the stacking pattern of the depositional systems across various Changxingian andGriesbachian sedimentary facies of the Lower Yangtze and the sequence stratigraphic frameworkare outlined with the Meishan section as the principal section. In this paper the habitat types offossil biota are applied to semiquantitative palaeobathymetry and the study of relative sea levelchanges.Zhang Kexin Tong Jinnan Yin Hongfu and Wu Shunbao China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, Hubei 1997Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)1997,71,1:14
Discussion on geobiology, biogeology and geobiofacies显示文摘Here we first discuss the definition of and the difference between geobiology and biogeology following a brief introduction of recent geobiology research in China. Geobiology is defined as an interdisciplinary study of life sciences and earth sciences, and biogeology as an interdisciplinary study of biology and geology. Scope of the term geobiology covers that of the term biogeology. Branch interdisciplines of both are listed. We then propose the term geobiofacies, defined as the facies of a geologic body embodying the whole process of interaction between organisms and environments. Differences among geobiofacies, biofacies, and organic facies are discussed. Main parameters defining a geobiofacies include habitat type, biotic composition and productivity, paleo-oxygenation regimes, and early diagenesis phases. Each of them is discussed in detail, and a semi-quantitative assessment of the biogeofacies of source rocks is proposed based on these parameters. A two-fold terminology for geobiofacies is recommended, namely, the biological and environmental aspects of biota and the redox conditions during life-burial-diagenesisYIN HongFu XIE ShuCheng QING JianZhong YAN JiaXin LUO GenMing 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,11:11
Progress and perspective on frontiers of geobiology显示文摘Geobiology is a new discipline on the crossing interface between earth science and life science, and aims to understand the interaction and co-evolution between organisms and environments. On the basis of the latest international achievements, the new data presented in the Beijing geobiology forum sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013,and the papers in this special issue, here we present an overview of the progress and perspectives on three important frontiers, including geobiology of the critical periods in Earth history, geomicrobes and their responses and feedbacks to global environmental changes, and geobiology in extreme environments.Knowledge is greatly improved about the close relationship of some significant biotic events such as origin, radiation, extinction, and recovery of organisms with the deep Earth processes and the resultant environmental processes among oceans, land, and atmosphere in the critical periods, although the specific dynamics of the co-evolution between ancient life and paleoenvironments is still largely unknown.A variety of geomicrobial functional groups were found to respond sensitively to paleoenvironmental changes, which enable the establishment of proxies for paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and to play active roles on the Earth environmental changes via elemental biogeochemical cycles and mineral bio-transformations,but to be deciphered are the mechanisms of these functional groups that change paleoenvironmental conditions.Microbes of potential geobiology significance were found and isolated from some extreme environments with their biological properties partly understood, but little is known about their geobiological functions to change Earth environments. The biotic processes to alter or modify the environments are thus proposed to be the very issue geobiology aims to decipher in the future.Geobiology will greatly extend the temporal and spatial scope of biotic research on Earth and beyond. It has great potential of application in the domains of resource exploration and global change. To achieve these aims needs coordinative multidisciplinary studies concerning geomicrobiology and related themes, database and modeling of biogeochemical cycles, typical geological environments, and coupling of biological, physical, and chemical processes.XIE ShuCheng YIN HongFu 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,5:10
A Review on the Global Stratotype Section and Point of the Permian-Triassic Boundary显示文摘This paper provides a synthetic review of researches on Meishan Section D, the Global Stratotype Section and Point of the Permian-Triassic Boundary (PTB). The history of research, geographic and geological setting of the section are briefly introduced. Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” conodont and ammonoid zonations, the most perfect Permo-Triassic zonations over the world, are presented, with a short discussion on the age of Otoceras. The Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” strata are subdivided into three 3rd order sequences, and the sedimentary structure of each sequence is indicated. The paper presents a correlation of the Changhsingian to “Griesbachian” magnetostratigraphy of the Meishan section with the general scale, and informed the negation of a short magnetic reversal at the PTB suggested by Zhu and Liu (1999). Recent developments of chemostratigraphy of δ 13C and δ 34S are introduced, especially the discovery of more than one negative δ 13C excursions across the PTB. Two important molecular researches reveal the profound changes at the base of eco-system, the microbial catastrophy, and the euxinic conditions in the photic zone during the Permian-Triassic superanoxic event. The paper reports the changes in dating the age of PTB since 2001. According to recent achievements, the age of volcanogenic claybed 25, 14 cm below the PTB, is now set at 252.4±0.3 Ma. A discussion on the eventostratigraphy concludes that, although there is a major event episode at beds 25–26, the events across the PTB at Meishan are multi-episodic and commenced prior to the Event Beds 25–26, thus the possibility that the mass extinction was mainly induced by an exterrestrial impact is largely excluded.YIN Hongfu TONG Jinnan ZHANG Kexin 2005Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2005,79,6:10
The fluctuating environment associated with the episodic biotic crisis during the Permo/Triassic transition:Evidence from microbial biomarkers in Changxing,Zhejiang Province显示文摘The environmental conditions and the biotic crisis during the Permo-Triassic (Tr/P) transition received increasing attention in the past decades. Presented herein are the molecular fossil records of cyano-bacteria and green sulfur bacteria, the base of the marine ecosystem,to highlight the episodic nature of both the environment and the biotic crisis during this critical period. At least two episodes of cyano-bacterial expansion are documented by 2-methylhopanes ranging from C28 to C32 in carbon number, indicative of the instable marine ecosystem and the fluctuant aquatic nutrients. Meanwhile, the index of 2-alkyl-1,3,4-trimethylbenzenes (biomarkers of green sulfur bacteria) and the ratio of pristane to phy-tane (Pr/Ph) witness the fluctuation of sedimentary environmental redox conditions. The above mo-lecular evidence suggests the occurrence of highly fluctuating environmental conditions during the Tr/P transition, which is consistent with, and probably the cause of,the multi-phased biotic crisis and the prolonged faunal recovery.HUANG XianYu JIAO Dan LU LiQiang XIE ShuCheng HUANG JunHua WANG YongBiao YIN HongFu WANG HongMei ZHANG KeXin LAI XuLong 2007Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,7:10
Late Permian-Middle Triassic Sea Level Changes of Yangtze Platform显示文摘This paper first introduces procedures leading to the establishment of Late Permian-Middle Triassic sea level change curve of Yangtze platform. Bathymetric curves extracted from curve of habitat types are first transformed to sea level curves stage by stage. Comparison between curves of Yangtze and the world reveals that because the Late Permian marine sequences are lacking in most parts of the world, the Late Permian to Griesbachian curve of Yangtze may serve as an important reference for further revision of the world curve. The Early-Middle Triassic short-term changes of Yangtze are briefly concordant with those of Haq’s world curve, whereas their long-term changes are discordant. The latter, however, is representative of the East Asian regions affected by the Indosinian orogeny. Basically the third cycles of Yangtze and the world are only pertly concordant, and even in concordant cases their concrete boundaries are not coincident. This indicater that sea level changes are not strictly synchronous over the world. It seems that the 1st and 2nd cycles (supercycles and megacycles) may be world-wide, but not the 3rd cycles.Yin Hongfu Tong Jinnan (Faculty of Earth Sciences, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074) 1996Journal of Earth Science1996,15,1:7
Geobiological approach to evaluating marine carbonate source rocks of hydrocarbon显示文摘Evaluating the pre-Jurassic marine source rocks in China has been difficult because these rocks are generally too highor over-maturated for most traditional methods to work.As to the remaining parameter TOC (%),its lower limit for recognizing the carbonate source rocks in China has been in dispute.Nineteen Phanerozoic sections in the Middle-Upper Yangtze Platform and the Guizhou-Hunan-Guangxi Basin have been studied in search for a different approach to complementing the traditional evaluation method for these source rocks. We have applied a geobiological approach to tracing the organic carbon (OC) output and accumulation from the living stage (primary productivity) to the post-mortem deposited remains, and finally to the preserved burial organics.Four biological and geological parameters are employed to represent the OC of the three stages.A series of proxies of these parameters are discussed and integrated to establish a geobiological evaluation system independent of TOC and other traditional methods. Here we use the Guangyuan section in Sichuan as an example for the geobiological evaluation. Our results indicate that in the argillaceous rocks, the geobiological parameters show the qualified source rocks in accordance with high TOC values;but in the carbonates, the good source rocks delineated by the geobiological parameters have a wide range of TOC,from 0.03% to 1.59%,mostly<0.3%.We suggest that it is still premature to set TOC=0.3% or 0.5% as the lower limit for the pre-Jurassic carbonate source rocks in South China.YIN HongFu XIE ShuCheng YAN JiaXin HU ChaoYong HUANG JunHua Tenger QIE WenKun QIU Xuan 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,8:7
Evolution of drainage systems and its developing trend in connection with tectonic uplift of Eastern Kunlun Mt.显示文摘The Eastern Kunlun Mt. had been subjected to uplift together with the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau before the Early Pleistocene, and yet the Mt. did not protrude out of the Plateau surface. During that period lakes spread all over the studied region, with the drainage systems being all short rivers flowing into the lakes. At the end of the Early Pleistocene, intensive tectonic uplift led to the rising of the Eastern Kunlun Mt. and made the Mt. protrude onto the Plateau surface. As a result, a fault depression valley formed extending nearly from west to east along the fault belt of the Southern Kunlun Mt. Lakes in this region died out, surface runoffs joined into the valley of the Southern Kunlun Mt. resulting in a large river streaming nearly from west to east. Around 150 kaBP, because of the strong differential movement, rivers, such as the Jialu River and the Golmud River, retrogressively eroded seriously, cutting through the Burhan Budai Mt. Then they pirated the large river and divided it intoLI Chang’an YIN Hongfu YU Qingwen 2000Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,20:4
Study on segmented distribution for reliability evaluation显示文摘In practice, the failure rate of most equipment exhibits different tendencies at different stages and even its failure rate curve behaves a multimodal trace during its life cycle. As a result, traditionally evaluating the reliability of equipment with a single model may lead to severer errors. However, if lifetime is divided into several different intervals according to the characteristics of its failure rate, piecewise fitting can more accurately approximate the failure rate of equipment. Therefore, in this paper, failure rate is regarded as a piecewise function, and two kinds of segmented distribution are put forward to evaluate reliability. In order to estimate parameters in the segmented reliability function, Bayesian estimation and maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) of the segmented distribution are discussed in this paper. Since traditional information criterion is not suitable for the segmented distribution, an improved information criterion is proposed to test and evaluate the segmented reliability model in this paper. After a great deal of testing and verification, the segmented reliability model and its estimation methods presented in this paper are proven more efficient and accurate than the traditional non-segmented single model, especially when the change of the failure rate is time-phased or multimodal. The significant performance of the segmented reliability model in evaluating reliability of proximity sensors of leading-edge flap in civil aircraft indicates that the segmented distribution and its estimation method in this paper could be useful and accurate.Li Huaiyuan Zuo Hongfu Su Yan Xu Juan Yin Yibing 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,1:4

Chronic heat stress induces the disorder of gut transport and immune function associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress in growing pigs显示文摘Although high temperatures influence gut health, data on underlying mechanisms remains scant.Using a pig model, this study performed a global analysis on how chronic heat stress affects the transport and immune function of the gut through transcriptome, proteome, microbial diversity and flow cytometry.A total of 27 pigs with similar body weights were assigned into 3 groups,control(Con)group(23℃),chronic heat stressed(HS)group(33°C),and pair-fed(PF)group,in a controlled environment for 21 days. Our results showed that pigs in the HS group had reduced growth performance and diminished height of ileal villi(P<0.01).Transcriptome and proteome analyses demonstrated notable modification of expression of nutrients and ion transport-related transporters and gut mechanical barrier-related genes by chronic heart stress(P<0.05),suggesting damage of transport functions and the gut barrier.Chronic heat stress-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress also increased the synthesis of misfolded proteins, leading to upregulation of misfolded protein degradation and synthesis,as well as vesicle transport disorder(P<0.05).Energy supply processes were enhanced in the mitochondrion(P<0.05)to maintain biological processes with high energy demands.Furthermore, chronic heat stress activated complement cascade response-related genes and proteins in the gut mucosa(P<0.05).Our flow cytometry assays showed that the proportion of gut lymphocytes(CD4^(+)T cells,T cells,B cells in Peyer’s patch lymphocytes and CD4^(+)CD25^(+)T cells in intraepithelial lymphocytes)were significantly altered in the HS group pigs(P<0.05).In addition, the occurrence of gut microbial dysbiosis in the HS group pigs was characterized by increased potential pathogens(e.g.,Asteroleplasma,Shuttleworthia,Mycoplasma)and suppression of beneficial bacteria(e.g.,Coprococcus and Aeriscardovia),which are associated with gut immune function.Altogether, our data demonstrated that chronic heat stress induced gut transport and immune function disorder associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress in growing pigs.Shanlong Tang Jingjing Xie Wei Fang Xiaobin Wen Chang Yin Qingshi Meng Ruqing Zhong Liang Chen Hongfu Zhang 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,4:2
The Earth's inner core deviation to plate movement显示文摘Under the premise of the Earth’s layer structure and mass distribution, the solid inner core cannot be stable in the center of the sphere. Thus, the deviation of the inner core is towards the sphere’s center and the liquid outer core must have asymmetrical thermal convection. Based on the two suggestions, a concise and self-consistent global motion model can be built. The model consists of the following cycle: an asymmetrical thermal convection structure in the outer core led by the dislocation of the inner core→the plume is in special upwell position because of differential activation→the formation and split of lithosphere→the split plates drift and assemble in a new location, the mass of which causes the inner core to deviate towards this direction again→the new asymmetry is formed. As this circulation continues, a definite and periodical motion emerges/forms. Its nonlinear features result in the Earth’s motion with simple mechanisms but complex behavior. 16Expression of 6 MicroRNAs in Prostate Cancer and Its Significance显示文摘OBJECTIVE Numerous microRNAs (miRNAs) are deregulatedin human cancers. The experimental evidence supports thatmiRNAs plays a role in the initiation and progression of humanmalignancies. The present study was undertaken to evaluatethe differential expression of 6 miRNAs as biomarker for earlydetection of prostate cancer, and then to determine whether theexpression profiling of these miRNAs could predict the prognosisof prostate cancer.METHODS The expression profilings of these 6 miRNAs wereinvestigated using the method of locked nucleic acid (LNA)-modified oligonucleotide in situ hybridization (ISH). And thetechnology of tissue microarray (TMA) was employed using theformalin-fixed, paraffin-embedd (FFPE) specimens taken from52 patients with prostate carcinoma (PCa) and 38 patients withbenign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).RESULTS The rates of positive expression for 6 miRNAs (miR-15b, miR-16, let-7g, miR- 96,miR-182 and miR-183) were 26.92%,15.38%, 15.38%, 67.31%, 61.54% and 71.15% in the specimens ofprostate cancer, and 57.89%, 76.32%, 68.42%, 44.74%, 31.58%,47.37% in the tissues of benign prostatic hyperplasia, respectively. The expressions of all 6 miRNAs between the prostate cancer andbenign prostatic hyperplasia tissues were significantly different(P < 0.05). The positive rate of these 6 miRNAs was significantlyrelated to the Gleason Grading of prostate cancer (P < 0.01). Therewas no significant correlation between the expression of thesemiRNAs and age and the concentration of serum PSA of thepatient (P >0.05). We also found that the expression of miR-15b,miR-96 and miR-182 correlated with clinical stages of tumor (P <0.05). The expression of miR-96 correlated with lobus prostatae oftumor invasion (P < 0.01), but the expressions of the remaining fivemiRNAs were not correlated with that (P >0.05). In addition, theexpression of miR-15b was negatively related to that of miR-96,miR-182 and miR-183, respectively (P < 0.01, r < 0.00).There wasa positive correlation among the expressions of miR-96, miR-182and miR-183 in prostate cancer (P < 0.01, r >0.00). The expressionof miR-16 was positively related to that of miR-let-7g (P < 0.01, r >0.00).CONCLUSION The results suggest that miRNA expressionprofiling could have relevance to the biological and clinicalbehavior of prostate cancer, and they might be importantbiomarkers for early detection and prognostic assessment ofprostate cancer.Ming Li Liyu Cao Hongfu Zhang Yu Yin Xiaochun Xu 2009Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology2009,6,1:2

On the Flood Disasters in the Lower Jingjiang Reaches: Grey Prediction Model and Application显示文摘In the light of the historical substantial data (covering a 70-year period) collected in the Lower Jingjiang segment and aided by topological grey method, here we attempt to characterize the occurrence and future trend of flood calamities in the study area. Our findings indicate that overall the high-frequent flood disasters with middle to lower damage prevail at present. A series of dramatic flood waves will appear in the years of 2016, 2022, 2030 and 2042, particularly a destructive flood will occur between 2041 and 2045 in the Lower Jingjiang reaches. Typical of sensitive response to flood hazards in close association with its special geographical location, the lower Jingjiang segment hereby can reflect the development trend of floods in the middle Yangtze reaches. According to the results, a good fitness was revealed between the prediction and practical values. This actually hints that the topological grey method is an effective mathematical means of resolving problems containing uncertainty and indetermination, thus providing valuable information for the flood prediction in the middle Yangtze catchment.Yang Guifang 1, Huang Changsheng 2, Yin Hongfu 2 & Li Chang’an 2 1 State Key Laborary of Estuarine and Coastal Research, East China Normal University, Shanghai 200062, China 2 China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China 2005Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2005,3,3:1
