| 1 | Long-term monitoring and source apportionment of PM_(2.5)/PM_(10) in Beijing,China显示文摘During 2001-2006,PM2.5 (particle matter with aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 microns) and PM10 (particle matter with aerodynamic diameter less than 10 microns) were collected at the Beijng Normal University (BNU) site,China,and in 2006,at a background site in Duolun (DL).The long-term monitoring data of elements,ions,and black carbon showed that the major constituents of PM2.5 were black carbon (BC) crustal elements,nitrates,ammonium salts,and sulfates.These five major components accounted for 20%-80% of the total PM2.5.During this period,levels of Pb and S in PM remained rather high,as compared with the levels in other large cities in the world.Source apportionment results suggest that there were 6 common sources for PM2.5 and PM10,i.e.,soil dust,vehicular emission,coal combustion,secondary aerosol,industrial emission,and biomass burning.Coal combustion was the largest contributor of PM2.5 with a percentage of 16.6%,whereas soil dust played the most important role in PM10 with a percentage of 27%.In contrast,only three common types of sources could be resolved at the background DL site,namely,soil dust,biomass combustion,and secondary aerosol from combustion sources. | Hailin WANG Zhengping HAO | 2008 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,11: | 65 |
| 2 | The compositions,sources,and size distribution of the dust storm from China in spring of 2000 and its impact on the global environment显示文摘The average mass concentration of the aerosols in Beijing during the dust storm in the spring of 2000 was -6000 μg · m-3, -30 times as high as that in the non-dust storm days. The enrichment factors of the pollution elements As, Sb and Se were higher than those in the non-dust storm days. This indicated that As, Sb and Se resulted from the pollution sources of those areas, through which the dust storm passed during their long-range transport, in addition to the local pollution sources in Beijing. The enrichment factors of the Pb, Zn, Cd and Cu were much less than those in the non-dust storm days, suggesting that the local pollution sources in Beijing area contributed to them mostly. The enrichment factors of elements Al, Fe, Sc, Mn, Na, Ni, Cr, V and Co were close to 1, showing that these elements originated from crust. The concentration of S in the dust storm was -10 μg · m-3,4 times as high as that in non-dust storm. | 4 | Source apportionment for urban PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) in the Beijing area显示文摘Airborne particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) samples were collected at the Beijing Normal University sampling site in the urban area of Beijing, China in dry and wet seasons during 2001―2004. Concen-trations of 23 elements and 14 ions in particulate samples were determined by ICP-AES and IC, re-spectively. Source apportionment results derived from both Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) and Chemical Mass Balance (CMB) models indicate that the major contributors of PM2.5 and PM10 in Beijing are: soil dust, fossil fuel combustion, vehicle exhausts, secondary particulate, biomass burning and some industrial sources. | 5 | A comparative study between graphene oxide and diamond nanoparticles as water-based lubricating additives显示文摘The tribological properties of graphene oxide(GO) nanosheets and modified diamond(MD) nanoparticles with excellent water-solubility were investigated.GO nanosheets were synthesized using carbon fibers with a regular and uniform size,the lateral size being around 30 nm and the thickness being 2 or 3 nm,while MD nanoparticles were about 30 nm in the three dimensions.The friction properties of ceramics were improved by GO nanosheets or MD nanoparticles used as additives in water-based lubrication,though the effects of two nanoparticles were quite different.For GO nanosheets,the friction coefficient at the beginning decreased sharply from 0.6 to 0.1,as compared with the dionized water lubrication.At the same time,the running-in period was shortened from 2000 s to 250 s.A steady state characterized by ultralow friction(friction coefficient=0.01) was obtained after the running-in period.In the case of MD nanoparticles,the friction coefficient stayed at 0.1 without further decrease during the whole experiment.Based on the observation of wear scar and characterization of remains on the wear track,the positive effect of GO nanosheets was attributed to their lamellar structure and geometric size.MD nanoparticles reduced friction by forming the regularly grained surface on the mating surfaces,and prevented further reduction in steady-state friction coefficient owing to their larger size and hardness.In conclusion,GO nanosheets exhibited favorable potential as an effective additive for water-based lubrication. | LIU YuHong WANG XiaoKang PAN GuoShun LUO JianBin | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1: | 21 |
| 6 | Great progress in study on aerosol and its impact on the global environment显示文摘The transport from atmosphere is a more important pathway than that from rivers for certain elements and compounds in the remote ocean. The desert and those arid/semi-arid areas in the northwest of China and the Loess Plateau are the sources of those aerosols over the Pacific. Atmospheric iron is the limiting factor of the productivity in certain ocean regions. The dust storms must now be seen as repeated sources of pollution elements as well as soil elements to the East China Sea and, farther out, to the North Pacific Ocean and even to the USA. The long-range transport of aerosols, especially the dust storm, from China and the positive feedbacks of iron coupled with sulfur in atmosphere might be one of the important mechanisms that would affect the primary productivity in the Pacific and/or the global climate change and deserve to be further studied. | 9 | Smog chamber studies of ozone formation potentials for isopentane显示文摘The incremental reactivity and ozone formation potential of isopentane have been studied with chamber experiments and computer simulations. The chemical mechanism used in the computer simulations is an isopentane sub-mechanism from the Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM). The results from the chamber experiments suggest that the MCM can well simulate i-C5H12-NOx chamber experiments. The heterogeneous reaction of NO2 and water is an important source for OH radicals in the chamber experiments. The photolysis of HONO is responsible for the initiation of isopentane in photochemical reactions. The reaction rate constant for NO2 → HONO was determined to be 3.9×10-4―5.9×10-3 min-1 by conducting 3 sets of CO-NOx-air irradiations. 5 sets of isopentane-NOx irradiations under different conditions were performed in our chamber. Compared with the experiment with a low relative humidity (RH), an increase in RH can increase the reaction rate of NO2 with H2O, so that the peak ozone occurs earlier. | 10 | Mobile Web Augmented Reality in 5G and Beyond:Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions显示文摘The popularity of wearable devices and smartphones has fueled the development of Mobile Augmented Reality(MAR),which provides immersive experiences over the real world using techniques,such as computer vision and deep learning.However,the hardware-specific MAR is costly and heavy,and the App-based MAR requires an additional download and installation and it also lacks cross-platform ability.These limitations hamper the pervasive promotion of MAR.This paper argues that mobile Web AR(MWAR)holds the potential to become a practical and pervasive solution that can effectively scale to millions of end-users because MWAR can be developed as a lightweight,cross-platform,and low-cost solution for end-to-end delivery of MAR.The main challenges for making MWAR a reality lie in the low efficiency for dense computing in Web browsers,a large delay for real-time interactions over mobile networks,and the lack of standardization.The good news is that the newly emerging 5G and Beyond 5G(B5G)cellular networks can mitigate these issues to some extent via techniques such as network slicing,device-to-device communication,and mobile edge computing.In this paper,we first give an overview of the challenges and opportunities of MWAR in the 5G era.Then we describe our design and development of a generic service-oriented framework(called MWAR5)to provide a scalable,flexible,and easy to deploy MWAR solution.We evaluate the performance of our MWAR5 system in an actually deployed 5G trial network under the collaborative configurations,which shows encouraging results.Moreover,we also share the experiences and insights from our development and deployment,including some exciting future directions of MWAR over 5G and B5G networks. | Xiuquan Qiao Pei Ren Guoshun Nan Ling Liu Schahram Dustdar Junliang Chen | 2019 | China Communications2019,16,9: | 7 |
| 11 | A Survey on Information-Centric Networking: Rationales, Designs and Debates显示文摘The basic function of the Internet is to delivery data(what) to serve the needs of all applications. IP names the attachment points(where) to facilitate ubiquitous interconnectivity as the current way to deliver data. The fundamental mismatch between data delivery and naming attachment points leads to a lot of challenges, e.g., mapping from data name to IP address, handling dynamics of underlying topology, scaling up the data distribution, and securing communication, etc. Informationcentric networking(ICN) is proposed to shift the focus of communication paradigm from where to what, by making the named data the first-class citizen in the network, The basic consensus of ICN is to name the data independent from its container(space dimension) and session(time dimension), which breaks the limitation of point-to-point IP semantic. It scales up data distribution by utilizing available resources, and facilitates communication to fit diverse connectivity and heterogeneous networks. However, there are only a few consensuses on the detailed design of ICN, and quite a few different ICN architectures are proposed. This paper reveals the rationales of ICN from the perspective of the Internet evolution, surveys different design choices, and discusses on two debatable topics in ICN, i.e.,self-certifying versus hierarchical names, and edge versus pervasive caching. | 12 | Effect of industrial microwave irradiation on the physicochemical properties and pyrolysis characteristics of lignite显示文摘The surface functional groups and pyrolysis characteristics of lignite irradiated by microwave were comparatively studied to evaluate the feasibility of using industrial 915 MHz for lignite drying. The drying kinetics, micro structure, chemical functional groups, re-adsorption properties, and pyrolysis characteristics of the dried coal were respectively analyzed. Results indicated that for typical Chinese lignite studied in this paper, 915 MHz microwave drying was 7.8 times faster than that of the hot air drying. After industrial microwave drying, the sample possessed much higher total specific surface area and specific pore volume than that of air dried sample. The oxygen functional groups and re-adsorption ratio of microwave irradiated coal decreased, showing weakened hydrophilicity. Moreover, during the pyrolysis of the coal dried by hot air and microwave, the yield of tar largely increased from 1.3% to 8.5% and the gas production increased correspondingly.
