Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced, based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second. Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet, occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map. This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands, which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however, the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years. From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes, which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase, because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces, and artificial wetlands increased.NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22:51
Trend of mass change in the Antarctic ice sheet recovered from the GRACE temporal gravity field显示文摘It is important to quantify mass variations in the Antarctic ice sheet to study the global sea-level rise and climate change. A hybrid filtering scheme employing a combination of the decorrelated filter P3M6 and 300 km Fan filter was used, and the sur- face mass variations over the Antarctic are recovered from GRACE CSR RL04 monthly gravity field models from August 2002 to June 2010. After deduction of leakage errors using the GLDAS hydrological model and postglacial rebound effects using the glacial isostatic adjustment model IJ05, the variations in the ice sheet mass are obtained. The results reveal that the rate of melting of the Antarctic ice sheet is 80.0 Gt/a and increasing and contributes 0.22 mm/a to the global sea-level rise; the mass loss rate is 78.3 Gt/a in the West Antarctic and 1.6 Gt/a in the East Antarctic. The average mass loss rate increases from 39.3 Gt/a for the period 2002-2005 to 104.2 Gt/a for the period 2006-2010, and its corresponding contribution to the global sea-level rise increases from 0.11 to 0.29 mm/a, which indicates accelerated ice mass loss over the Antarctic since 2006. Moreover, the mass accumulation rates for Enderby Land and Wilkes Land along the coast of East Antarctica decrease for the period 2006-2008 but increase evidently after 2009.LUO ZhiCai LI Qiong ZHANG Kun WANG HaiHong 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,1:21
Terrestrial water storage changes over the Pearl River Basin from GRACE and connections with Pacific climate variability显示文摘Time-variable gravity data from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)satellite mission are used to study terrestrial water storage(TWS) changes over the Pearl River Basin(PRB) for the period 2003 eN ov. 2014. TWS estimates from GRACE generally show good agreement with those from two hydrological models GLDAS and WGHM. But they show different capability of detecting significant TWS changes over the PRB. Among them,WGHM is likely to underestimate the seasonal variability of TWS, while GRACE detects longterm water depletions over the upper PRB as was done by hydrological models, and observes significant water increases around the Longtan Reservoir(LTR) due to water impoundment. The heavy drought in 2011 caused by the persistent precipitation deficit has resulted in extreme low surface runoff and water level of the LTR. Moreover, large variability of summer and autumn precipitation may easily trigger floods and droughts in the rainy season in the PRB, especially for summer, as a high correlation of 0.89 was found between precipitation and surface runoff. Generally, the PRB TWS was negatively correlated with El Nin^o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) events. However, the modulation of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)may impact this relationship, and the significant TWS anomaly was likely to occur in the peak of PDO phase as they agree well in both of the magnitude and timing of peaks. This indicates that GRACE-based TWS could be a valuable parameter for studying climatic influences in the PRB.Zhicai Luo Chaolong Yao Qiong Li Zhengkai Huang 2016Geodesy and Geodynamics2016,7,3:9
Detecting Droughts in Southwest China from GPS Vertical Position Displacements显示文摘The solid Earth responds elastically to terrestrial water storage(TWS)changes. Here global positioning system(GPS)vertical position data at 31 stations from the crustal movement observation network of China(CMONOC)from August 2010 to December 2016 are used to detect droughts in Southwest China.Monthly GPS vertical position displacements respond negatively to precipitation changes and TWS changes observed by gravity recovery and climate experiments(GRACE)as well as river water level variations.GPS vertical position anomalies(the non-seasonal term)are well correlated negatively(correlations of about-0.70)with the commonly used meteorological composite index(CI)in China and the GRACE drought severity index(GRACE-DSI),but less correlated with the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index(SPEI).Compared to CI,GPS vertical position anomalies have the advantage of detecting droughts caused by abrupt precipitation deficits in a short time.GRACE-DSI is less accurate in drought monitoring for some periods due to the missing data, while the severity of abrupt precipitation absent in some cases can be overestimated from SPEI with big variability. This study shows the reliability and advantages of GPS data in drought monitoring.Chaolong YAO Zhicai LUO Yueming HU Changwei WANG Rui ZHANG Jinming LI 2020Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,3:5
Qinghai-Tibet Plateau crustal thickness derived from EGM2008and CRSUT2. 0显示文摘Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the most complex region for crustal thickness inversion, while high-resolution earth gravity model( EGM) makes it possible to obtain high precision gravity anomaly, which is a key parameter to depict the Earth's inner structure in geodesy domain. On the basis of this principle,we calculated the Bouguer gravity anomalies in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with EGM2008 and SRTM6. 0 by efficient high-degree spherical harmonic synthesis algorithm. In order to obtain the gravity anomaly caused by Moho density mutant, the noises caused by the topography was removed by wavelet details. Then, the crustal thickness was corrected on the basis of CRUST 2. 0 with the deep-large-scale single density interface formula. The inversion result indicates that the crustal thickness in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is between 50 km and 75 km,which is in correspondence with the recent science research result. Compared with the 2 degree CRUST 2. 0 model, the spatial resolution of crustal thickness in our research can reach 40 arc minutes. In addition, there is a positive relationship between the inversed crustal thickness and topography, which can prove the effectiveness of Airy-Heiskanen isostatic model in gravity reduction.Zhou Hao Luo Zhicai Zhong Bo 2014Geodesy and Geodynamics2014,5,4:3
GRACE-based estimates of water discharge over the Yellow River basin显示文摘As critical component of hydrologic cycle, basin discharge is a key issue for understanding the hydrological and climatologic related to water and energy cycles. Combining GRACE gravity field models with ET from GLDAS models and precipitation from GPCP, discharge of the Yellow River basin are estimated from the water balance equation. While comparing the results with discharge from GLDAS model and in situ measurements, the results reveal that discharge from Mosaic and CLM GLDAS model can partially represent the river discharge and the discharge estimation from water balance equation could reflect the discharge from precipitation over the Yellow River basin.Qiong Li Bo Zhong Zhicai Luo Chaolong Yao 2016Geodesy and Geodynamics2016,7,3:3
Seasonal gravity changes estimated from GRACE data显示文摘Since 2002,the GRACE program has provided a large amount of high-precision data, which can be used to detect temporal gravity variations related to global mass re-distribution inside the fluid envelop of the surface of the Earth. In order to make use of the GRACE data to investigate earthquake-related gravity changes in China,we first studied the degree variances of the monthly GRACE gravity field models, and then applied decorrelation and Gaussian smoothing method to obtain seasonal gravity changes in China.By deducting the multi-year mean seasonal variations from the seasonal maps,we found some earthquake-related gravity anomalies.Zhengbo Zou Hui Li Zhicai Luo Lelin Xing 2010Geodesy and Geodynamics2010,1,1:3
Modeling of Earth’s Gravity Fields Visualization Based on Quad Tree显示文摘The problems of the earth's gravity fields' visualization are both focus and puzzle currently. Aiming at multiresolution rendering, modeling of the Earth's gravity fields' data is discussed in the paper by using LOD algorithm based on Quad Tree. First, this paper employed the method of LOD based on Quad Tree to divide up the regional gravity anomaly data, introduced the combined node evaluation system that was composed of viewpoint related and roughness related systems, and then eliminated the T-cracks that appeared among the gravity anomaly data grids with different resolutions. The test results demonstrated that the gravity anomaly data grids' rendering effects were living, and the computational power was low. Therefore, the proposed algorithm was a suitable method for modeling the gravity anomaly data and has potential applications in visualization of the earth's gravity fields.LUO Zhicai LI Zhenhai ZHONG Bo 2010Geo-Spatial Information Science2010,13,3:2
WHU-Grace01s:A new temporal gravity field model recovered from GRACE KBRR data alone显示文摘A new temporal gravity field model called WHU-GraceOls solely recovered from Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)K-Band Range Rate(KBRR)data based on dynamic integral approach is presented in this paper. After meticulously preprocessing of the GRACE KBRR data, the root mean square of its post residuals is about 0.2 micrometers per second, and seventy-two monthly temporal solutions truncated to degree and order 60 are computed for the period from January 2003 to December 2008.After applying the combination filter in WHU-GraceOls,the global temporal signals show obvious periodical change rules in the large-scale river basins. In terms of the degree variance, our solution is smaller at high degrees, and shows a good consistency at the rest of degrees with the Release 05 models from Center for Space Research(CSR),GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam(GFZ)and Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL).Compared with other published models in terms of equivalent water height distribution, our solution is consistent with those published by CSR,GFZ,JPL,Delft institute of Earth Observation and Space system(DEOS),Tongji University(Tongji),Institute of Theoretical Geodesy(ITG),Astronomical Institute in University of Bern(AIUB)and Groupe de Recherche de Geodesie Spatiale(GRGS),which indicates that the accuracy of WHU-GraceOls has a good consistency with the previously published GRACE solutions.Zhou Hao Luo Zhicai Zhong Bo 2015Geodesy and Geodynamics2015,6,5:2
Insight into Urban Faults by Wavelet Multi-Scale Analysis and Modeling of Gravity Data in Shenzhen,China显示文摘Urban faults in Shenzhen are potential threats to city security and sustainable development. In consideration of the importance of the Shenzhen fault zone, the author provide a detailed interpretation on gravity data model. Bouguer gravity covering the whole Shenzhen City was calculated with a 1-km resolution. Wavelet multi-scale analysis(MSA) was applied to the Bouguer gravity data to obtain the multilayer residual anomalies corresponding to different depths. In addition, 2D gravity models were constructed along three profiles. The Bouguer gravity anomaly shows an NE-striking high-low-high pattern from northwest to southeast, strongly related to the main faults. According to the results of MSA, the correlation between gravity anomaly and faults is particularly significant from 4 to 12 km depth. The residual gravity with small amplitude in each layer indicates weak tectonic activity in the crust. In the upper layers, positive anomalies along most of faults reveal the upwelling of high-density materials during the past tectonic movements. The multilayer residual anomalies also yield important information about the faults, such as the vertical extension and the dip direction. The maximum depth of the faults is about 20 km. In general, NE-striking faults extend deeper than NW-striking faults and have a larger dip angle.Chuang Xu Haihong Wang Zhicai Luo Hualiang Liu Xiangdong Liu 2018Journal of Earth Science2018,29,6:2

Investigation of the Tikhonov Regularization Method in Regional Gravity Field Modeling by Poisson Wavelets Radial Basis Functions显示文摘The application of Tikhonov regularization method dealing with the ill-conditioned problems in the regional gravity field modeling by Poisson wavelets is studied. In particular, the choices of the regularization matrices as well as the approaches for estimating the regularization parameters are investigated in details. The numerical results show that the regularized solutions derived from the first-order regularization are better than the ones obtained from zero-order regularization. For cross validation, the optimal regularization parameters are estimated from L-curve, variance component estimation(VCE) and minimum standard deviation(MSTD) approach, respectively, and the results show that the derived regularization parameters from different methods are consistent with each other. Together with the firstorder Tikhonov regularization and VCE method, the optimal network of Poisson wavelets is derived, based on which the local gravimetric geoid is computed. The accuracy of the corresponding gravimetric geoid reaches 1.1 cm in Netherlands, which validates the reliability of using Tikhonov regularization method in tackling the ill-conditioned problem for regional gravity field modeling.Yihao Wu Bo Zhong Zhicai Luo 2018Journal of Earth Science2018,29,6:1
Accuracy Analysis for SST Gravity Field Model in China显示文摘Taking China as the region for test, the potential of the new satellite gravity technique, satellite-to-satellite tracking for improving the accuracy of regional gravity field model is studied. With WDM94 as reference, the gravity anomaly residuals of three models, the latest two GRACE global gravity field model (EIGEN_GRACE02S, GGM02S) and EGM96, are computed and compared. The causes for the differences among the residuals of the three models are discussed. The comparison between the residuals shows that in the selected region, EIGEN_GRACE02S or GGM02S is better than EGM96 in lower degree part (less than 110 degree). Additionally, through the analysis of the model gravity anomaly residuals, it is found that some systematic errors with periodical properties exist in the higher degree part of EIGEN and GGM models, the results can also be taken as references in the validation of the SST gravity data.LUO Jia LUO Zhicai ZOU Xiancai WANG Haihong 2006Geo-Spatial Information Science2006,9,4:1
Far-zone contributions of airborne gravity anomalies' upward/downward continuation显示文摘Airborne gravimetry has become a vital technique in local gravity field approximation, and upward/downward continuation of gravity data is a key process of airborne gravimetry. In these procedures, the integral domain is divided into two parts, namely the near-zone and the far-zone.The far-zone contributions are approximated by the truncation coefficients and a global geo-potential model, and their values are controlled by several issues. This paper investigates the effects of flight height, the size of near-zone cap,and RemoveCompute-Restore(RCR) technique upon far-zone contributions. Results show that at mountainous area the far-zone contributions can be ignored when EIGEN-6C of 360 degree is removed from the gravity data, together with a near-zone cap of 1° and a flight height less than 10 km,while at flat area EIGEN-6C of 180 degree is feasible.Boyang Zhou Zhicai Luo Yihao Wu Yuqiao Cen 2016Geodesy and Geodynamics2016,7,6:0
Spectral Representation and Analysis of the KBR Precision Based on the Earth Gravity Spectrum显示文摘Satellite-to-Satellite Tracking in low-low model (SST-ll) is a new technique to resolve the series of problems met in the determination of the earth’s gravity field. As the key technique of SST-ll, KBR can get SST-ll measurements directly. So the KBR performance analysis is the first step in SST-ll design. In this paper, assuming that the satellite pairs of SST\|ll are in near circle polar orbits, the spectrum relationship between the earth gravity field and KBR is established using analytic method. And then some examples are analyzed, the suggestions and conclusions are drawn from these examples. The research results could be taken as a reference for future satellite gravity project of China.LUO Jia NING Jinsheng LUO Zhicai 2005Geo-Spatial Information Science2005,8,3:0
MONITORING THE DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF TALL BUILDINGS BY GPS TECHNIQUE显示文摘Dynamic characteristics of large structures, such as tall buildings,long_span suspension,cable_stayed bridges and tall chimneys, are key to assess their drift and stress conditions. The dynamic characteristics of large structures are difficult to measure directly under the condition of earthquakes or strong winds using traditional techniques such as laser collimator, total station and accelerometers. Therefore there is a great need for developing new method or technique for this purpose.Recent advances in Global Positioning System (GPS) technology provide a great opportunity to monitor long_period changes of structures reliably.GPS receivers capable to gauge the motion at the centimeter or sub_centimeter level with sampling frequency 10Hz or even 20 Hz are now available from several manufacturers. To the authors’ knowledge, the capability of identifying dynamic characteristics from GPS observations has not been widely verified. For the feasibility study on using kinematic GPS technology to identify the dynamic characteristics of tall buildings, some experiments were conducted in a simulative environment. This paper discusses in detail the experiment device, and the ways through them GPS data are recorded, processed and analyzed. With post_processing version of NovAtel’s Softsurv software and auto_regressive (AR) spectral analysis method, relative displacements and corresponding vibrating frequencies have been derived from GPS observations. The results indicate that the dynamic characteristics can be identified accurately by kinematic GPS technology.Luo Zhicai Chen Yongqi Liu Yanxiong 2000Geo-Spatial Information Science2000,3,4:0
A NEW MODELLING METHOD FOR EVALUATING EXTERNAL DISTURBING POTENTIAL BASED ON THEORY OF UNIFIED REPRESENTATION OF GRAVITATIONAL FIELD显示文摘For a special use a new modelling method of evaluating external disturbing potential is presented in this paper.Being different from classical methods in physical geodesy this method is grounded upon the theory of unified representation of gravitational field. The models created in this way are particularly satisfactory for a high_speed computation of gravitational field in low altitude because they take account of topographic effects and have their kernel functions with simple structure and weak singularity.ZHU Zhuowen HUANG Jinshui CAO Huasheng LUO Zhicai 2000Geo-Spatial Information Science2000,3,2:0
