A review:On path planning strategies for navigation of mobile robot显示文摘This paper presents the rigorous study of mobile robot navigation techniques used so far.The step by step investigations of classical and reactive approaches are made here to understand the development of path planning strategies in various environmental conditions and to identify research gap.The classical approaches such as cell decomposition(CD),roadmap approach(RA),artificial potential field(APF);reactive approaches such as genetic algorithm(GA),fuzzy logic(FL),neural network(NN),firefly algorithm(FA),particle swarm optimization(PSO),ant colony optimization(ACO),bacterial foraging optimization(BFO),artificial bee colony(ABC),cuckoo search(CS),shuffled frog leaping algorithm(SFLA)and other miscellaneous algorithms(OMA)are considered for study. The navigation over static and dynamic condition is analyzed(for single and multiple robot systems)and it has been observed that the reactive approaches are more robust and perform well in all terrain when compared to classical approaches. It is also observed that the reactive approaches are used to improve the performance of the classical approaches as a hybrid algorithm.Hence, reactive approaches are more popular and widely used for path planning of mobile robot. The paper concludes with tabular data and charts comparing the frequency of individual navigational strategies which can be used for specific application in robotics.B.K. 2Position Control of Electro-hydraulic Actuator System Using Fuzzy Logic Controller Optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization显示文摘The position control system of an electro-hydraulic actuator system (EHAS) is investigated in this paper. The EHAS is developed by taking into consideration the nonlinearities of the system: the friction and the internal leakage. A variable load that simulates a realistic load in robotic excavator is taken as the trajectory reference. A method of control strategy that is implemented by employing a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) whose parameters are optimized using particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed. The scaling factors of the fuzzy inference system are tuned to obtain the optimal values which yield the best system performance. The simulation results show that the FLC is able to track the trajectory reference accurately for a range of values of orifice opening. Beyond that range, the orifice opening may introduce chattering, which the FLC alone is not sufficient to overcome. The PSO optimized FLC can reduce the chattering significantly. This result justifies the implementation of the proposed method in position control of EHAS.Daniel M. Wonohadidjojo Ganesh Kothapalli Mohammed Y. 3Bone mineral density and disorders of mineral metabolism in chronic liver disease显示文摘AIM:To estimate the prevalence and identify the risk factors for metabolic bone disease in patients with cirrhosis.METHODS:The study was performed on 72 Indian patients with cirrhosis(63 male, 9 female;aged < 50 years).Etiology of cirrhosis was alcoholism(n = 37), hepatitis B(n = 25) and hepatitis C(n = 10).Twenty-three patients belonged to Child class A, while 39 were in class B and 10 in class C.Secondary causes for metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis were ruled out.Sunlight exposure, physical activity and dietary constituents were calculated.Complete metabolic profiles were derived, and bone mineral density(BMD) was measured using dual energy X ray absorptiometry.Low BMD was defined as a Z score below-2.RESULTS:Low BMD was found in 68% of patients.Lumbar spine was the most frequently and severely affected site.Risk factors for low BMD included low physical activity, decreased sunlight exposure, and low lean body mass.Calcium intake was adequate, with unfavorable calcium:protein ratio and calcium:phosphorus ratio.Vitamin D deficiency was highly prevalent(92%).There was a high incidence of hypogonadism(41%).Serum estradiol level was elevated significantly in patients with normal BMD.Insulin-like growth factor(IGF) 1 and IGF binding protein 3 levels were below the age-related normal range in both groups.IGF-1 was signiflcantly lower in patients with low BMD.Serum osteocalcin level was low(68%) and urinary deoxypyridinoline to creatinine ratio was high(79%), which demonstrated low bone formation with high resorption.CONCLUSION:Patients with cirrhosis have low BMD.Contributory factors are reduced physical activity, low lean body mass, vitamin D def iciency and hypogonadism and low IGF-1 level.Joe George Hosahithlu K Ganesh Shrikrishna Acharya Tushar R Bandgar Vyankatesh Shivane Anjana Karvat Shobna J Bhatia Samir Shah Padmavathy S Menon Nalini Shah 2009World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,28:15
Copy number variations are progressively associated with the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer in ulcerative colitis显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the association of known copy number variations(CNVs) in ulcerative colitis(UC) progressing to colorectal cancer.METHODS: Microsatellite instability analysis using the National Cancer Institute's panel of markers, and CNV association studies using Agilent 2 × 105 k arrays were done in tissue samples from four patient groups with UC: those at low risk(LR) or high risk of developing colorectal cancer, those with premalignant dysplastic lesions, and those with colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC). DNA from tissue samples of these groups were independently hybridized on arrays and analyzed. The data obtained were further subjected to downstream bioinformatics enrichment analysis to examine the correlation with CAC progression.RESULTS: Microarray analysis highlighted a progressive increase in the total number of CNVs [LR(n = 178) vs CAC(n = 958), 5.3-fold], gains and losses [LR(n = 37 and 141) vs CAC(n = 495 and 463), 13.4- and 3.3-fold, respectively], size [LR(964.2 kb) vs CAC(10540 kb), 10.9-fold] and the number of genes in such regions [LR(n = 119) vs CAC(n = 455), 3.8-fold]. Chromosomewise analysis of CNVs also showed an increase in the number of CNVs across each chromosome. There were 38 genes common to all four groups in the study; 13 of these were common to cancer genes from the Genetic Disease Association dataset. The gene set enrichment analysis and ontology analysis highlighted many cancerassociated genes. All the samples in the different groupswere microsatellite stable.CONCLUSION: Increasing numbers of CNVs are associated with the progression of UC to CAC, and warrant further detailed exploration.Bhadravathi Marigowda Shivakumar Harish Rotti Thanvanthri Gururajan Vasudevan Aswath Balakrishnan Sanjiban Chakrabarty Ganesh Bhat Lakshmi Rao Cannanore Ganesh Pai Kapaettu Satyamoorthy 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,2:10
Machine-learned interatomic potentials by active learning:amorphous and liquid hafnium dioxide显示文摘We propose an active learning scheme for automatically sampling a minimum number of uncorrelated configurations for fitting the Gaussian Approximation Potential(GAP).Our active learning scheme consists of an unsupervised machine learning(ML)scheme coupled with a Bayesian optimization technique that evaluates the GAP model. We apply this scheme to a Hafnium dioxide(HfO2)dataset generated from a“melt-quench”ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD)protocol. Our results show that the active learning scheme, with no prior knowledge of the dataset,is able to extract a configuration that reaches the required energy fit tolerance.Further, molecular dynamics(MD)simulations performed using this active learned GAP model on 6144 atom systems of amorphous and liquid state elucidate the structural properties of HfO2 with near ab initio precision and quench rates(i.e.,1.0 K/ps)not accessible via AIMD.The melt and amorphous X-ray structural factors generated from our simulation are in good agreement with experiment. In addition, the calculated diffusion constants are in good agreement with previous ab initio studies.Ganesh Sivaraman Anand Narayanan Krishnamoorthy Matthias Baur Christian Holm Marius Stan Gábor Csányi Chris Benmore Álvaro Vázquez-Mayagoitia 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:10
Recent advances in targeting the autotaxin-lysophosphatidate-lipid phosphate phosphatase axis in vivo显示文摘Extracellular lysophosphatidate(LPA) is a potent bioactive lipid that signals through six G-protein-coupled receptors. This signaling is required for embryogenesis, tissue repair and remodeling processes.LPA is produced from circulating lysophosphatidylcholine by autotaxin(ATX),and is degraded outside cells by a family of three enzymes called the lipid phosphate phosphatases(LPPs).In many pathological conditions, particularly in cancers,LPA concentrations are increased due to high ATX expression and low LPP activity. In cancers,LPA signaling drives tumor growth, angiogenesis, metastasis, resistance to chemotherapy and decreased efficacy of radiotherapy.Hence, targeting the ATX-LPA-LPP axis is an attractive strategy for introducing novel adjuvant therapeutic options. In this review,we will summarize current progress in targeting the ATX-LPA-LPP axis with inhibitors of autotaxin activity,LPA receptor antagonists,LPA monoclonal antibodies, and increasing low LPP expression. Some of these agents are already in clinical trials and have applications beyond cancer, including chronic inflammatory diseases.Matthew G.K. 8Differentiation of Crohn’s disease from intestinal tuberculosis in India in 2010显示文摘Differentiating intestinal tuberculosis from Crohn’s disease (CD) is an important clinical challenge of considerable therapeutic significance. The problem is of greatest magnitude in countries where tuberculosis continues to be highly prevalent, and where the incidence of CD is increasing. The final clinical diagnosis is based on a combination of the clinical history with endoscopic studies, culture and polymerase chain reaction for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, biopsy pathology, radiological investigations and response to therapy. In a subset of patients, surgery is required and intraoperative findings with pathological study of the resected bowel provide a definitive diagnosis. Awareness of the parameters useful in distinguishing these two disorders in each of the different diagnostic modalities is crucial to accurate decision making. Newer techniques, such as capsule endoscopy, small bowel enteroscopy and immunological assays for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, have a role to play in the differentiation of intestinal tuberculosis and CD. This review presents currently available evidence regarding the usefulness and limitations of all these different modalities available for the evaluation of these two disorders.Anna Benjamin Pulimood Deepak Narayan Amarapurkar Ujjala Ghoshal Mathew Phillip Cannanore Ganesh Pai Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy Birender Nagi Balakrishna Siddhartha Ramakrishna 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,4:8
Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, transforming growth factor-β1, nerve growth factor, resistin and hyaluronic acid as serum markers:comparison between recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Diagnostic parameters that can predict the presence of chronic pancreatitis(CP) in patients with recurrent pain due to pancreatitis would help to direct appropriate therapy. This study aimed to compare the serum levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1), transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1), nerve growth factor(NGF), resistin and hyaluronic acid(HA) in patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis(RAP) and CP to assess their ability to differentiate the two conditions.METHODS: Levels of serum markers assessed by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) were prospectively compared in consecutive patients with RAP, CP and in controls and stepwise discriminant analysis was performed to identify the markers differentiating RAP from CP.RESULTS: One hundred and thirteen consecutive patients(RAP=32, CP=81) and 78 healthy controls were prospectively enrolled. The mean(SD) age of the patients was 32.0(14.0)years; 89(78.8%) were male. All markers were significantly higher in CP patients than in the controls(P<0.001); MCP-1NGF and HA were significantly higher in RAP patients than in the controls(P<0.001). Stepwise discriminant analysis showed significant difference(P=0.002) between RAP and CP for resistin with an accuracy of 61.9%, discriminant scores of ≤-0.479 and ≥0.189 indicating RAP and CP, respectively. The other markers had no differential value between RAP and CP.CONCLUSION: Serum resistin is a promising marker to differentiate between RAP and CP and needs validation in future studies, especially in those with early CP.M Ganesh Kamath C Ganesh Pai Asha Kamath Annamma Kurien 2016Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2016,15,2:7
Adsorptive hemofiltration for sepsis management: expert recommendations based on the Asia Pacific experience显示文摘To the Editor:In sepsis, bacterial endotoxins play a central role by inducing a dysregulated and exaggerated release of inflammatory mediators and cytokines, often described as the“cytokine storm”or“cytokinemia.”[1]Both endotoxins and cytokines have been implicated in the development of organ dysfunction, including acute kidney injury(AKI).[2]Removing circulating endotoxins and excess cytokines from the circulation restores chemotactic gradients, localizing the immune response to the principal site of infection and re-establishing a regulated immune response.[1,3]Therefore,using hemofilters with enhanced endotoxin and cytokine adsorptive properties may bring about additional therapeutic benefits compared with conventional continuous renal replacement therapy(CRRT)filters.Ling Zhang Matthew Cove Binh G.Nguyen Nuttha Lumlertgul Kartik Ganesh Alfred Chan Giang T.H.Bui Chunwen Guo Junhua Li Songqiao Liu Mian Peng Kit W.Foong Jian Zhang Minmin Wang Jacques Goldstein Kai Harenski 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,18:6
Bubbly shock propagation as a mechanism of shedding in separated cavitating flows显示文摘Stable attached partial cavitation in separated flows can transition to cloud shedding, and the mechanism of transition has been attributed to the presence of a re-entrant liquid jet. Our findings have revealed the presence of propagating bubbly shock waves as an alternative dominant mechanism of shedding when the compressibility of the bubbly mixture is appreciable. In the present paper, we discuss dynamics associated with these bubbly shock waves, interaction of shock waves with obstacles in their path, and means to manipulate their properties to control the shedding process by non-condensable gas injection.Harish Ganesh Simo A.Makiharju Steven L.Ceccio 2017Journal of Hydrodynamics2017,29,6:5
Using lanthanum to enhance the overall ignition, hardness, tensile and compressive strengths of Mg-0.5Zr alloy显示文摘Near dense Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr(0,1,2.5 and 4) wt.% La alloys were successfully synthesized by disintegrated melt deposition technique followed by hot extrusion and were characterized for their microstructural, ignition, hardness, tensile and compression properties. Combined effects of Zr and La assisted in significant grain refinement of Mg and Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited an average grain size as low as ~2.75 μm. High ignition temperature of ~645 oC was realized with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr(1,2.5 and 4) wt.% La alloys. Microhardness value as high as ~103 Hv was observed with Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La alloy. Under room temperature tensile and compression loading, significant improvements in the strength properties of pure Mg with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr(0, 1, 2.5 and 4) wt.% La was observed. Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr 4 wt.% La exhibited the maximum 0.2% tensile and compression yield strengths of ~283 MPa and ~264 MPa, respectively. The tensile and compression fracture strain values of synthesized pure Mg were found to be unaffected with the addition of 0.5 wt.% Zr. But the tensile fracture strain reduced with the addition of La while the compressive fracture strain was unaffected. Minimal tensile-compression asymmetry(~1) was exhibited by Mg 0.5 wt.% Zr(1 and 2.5) wt.% La alloys.Ganesh Kumar Meenashisundaram Tiong Hou Damien Ong Gururaj Parande Vyasaraj Manakari 向抒林 Manoj Gupta 2017Journal of Rare Earths2017,35,7:5

Life style modification improves insulin resistance and liver histology in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of regular aerobic exercise on insulin resistance, serum aminotransferase and liver histology in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients. METHODS: Sixty (mean age 40.0 ± 8.5 years, 75% male) NAFLD patients were included in the study. After baseline anthropometric measurement i.e., body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC); all patients were advised regular aerobic exercise for 30 min/d, for at least 5 d/wk and trained to achieve around 70% of his maximal heart rate. In addition, moderately energy restricted diet was advised to patients with high BMI (> 25 kg/m 2 ). Monthly follow up was done by measuring BMI, WC, aspartate aminotransferase, and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Insulin resistance was calculated using homeostasis model assessment (HOMA) of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) model, at baseline and after 6mo. Insulin resistance was arbitrarily considered altered when it was ≥ 2. Liver biopsy was done in a section of patients at baseline and after 6 mo. RESULTS: Seventy percent (42/60) patients were overweight or obese; 95% (57/60) had central obesity (WC > 90 cm in men, > 80 cm in women). In the 45 exercise compliant patients insulin resistance decreased from 6.4 ± 6.1 to 1.3 ± 1.0, BMI from 26.7 ± 3.3 kg/m 2 to 25.0 ± 3.3 kg/m 2 , WC from 95.7 ± 8.9 cm to 90.8 ± 7.3 cm and ALT from 84.8 ± 43.5 U/L to 41.3 ± 18.2 U/L (P < 0.01). In 15 exercise noncompliant patient's insulin resistance, BMI, WC and ALT did not show significant change at 6 mo follow up. Six of 8 patients in compliant group on repeat liver biopsy showed significant change in steatosis and necroinflammation. Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis scores improved form 5.3 ± 1.5 to 3.35 ± 1.5. The decline in insulin resistance correlated with decline in ALT (P = 0.01, r s = 0.90) and liver histology (P = 0.03, r s = 0.73). CONCLUSION: Life style modification improves insulin resistance resulting in improvement in ALT and liver histology in NAFLD patients.Ganesh Bhat Chalamalasetty Sreenivasa Baba Amaresh Pandey Neeraj Kumari Gourdas Choudhuri 2012World Journal of Hepatology2012,4,7:5
Simultaneous determination of amlodipine, valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide by LC-ESIMS/MS and its application to pharmacokinetics in rats显示文摘Polypill is a fixed-dose combination that contains three or more active ingredients used as a single daily pill to achieve a large effect in preventing cardiovascular disease with minimal adverse effects.A novel and accurate liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method using electrospray ionization mode has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of amlodipine(AMD),valsartan(VAL) using losartan(LOS) as an internal standard(IS),and hydrochlorothiazide(HCT) using furosemide(FSD) as an IS.The separation was carried on Aquasil C_(18)(50 mm×2.1 mm,5μm) reversed phase column using acetonitrile and water containing 0.1%formic acid(50:50,v/v) as the mobile phase. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy and precision over the concentration range of 1-1000 ng/mL.The intra and inter-day precision and accuracy, stability and extraction recoveries of all the analytes were in the acceptable range. This method can be successfully applied to the pharmacokinetic study of AMD,VAL and HCT when given as a polypill.Shankar Ganesh Gadepalli Pragney Deme Madhusudana Kuncha Ramakrishna Sistla 2014Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2014,4,6:5

Ivabradine in the treatment of systolic heart failure- A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To perform a systematic-review and meta-analysis to compare outcomes of ivabradine combined with betablocker to beta-blocker alone in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction(HFr EF).METHODS We searched PubM ed, Cochrane, EMBASE, CINAHL and Web of Science for trials comparing ivabradine + betablocker to beta-blocker alone in HFr EF. We performed a systematic-review and meta-analysis of published literature. Primary end-point was combined end point of cardiac death and hospitalization for heart failure.RESULTS Six studies with 17671 patients were included. Mean follow-up was 8.7 ± 7.9 mo. Combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death was better in ivabradine + beta-blocker group compared to beta-blocker alone(RR: 0.93, 95%CI: 0.79-1.09, P = 0.354). Mean difference(MD) in heart rate was higher in the ivabradine + beta-blocker group(MD: 6.14, 95%CI: 3.80-8.48, P < 0.001). There was no difference in all cause mortality(RR: 0.98, 95%CI: 0.89-1.07, P = 0.609), cardiovascular mortality(RR: 0.99, 95%CI: 0.86-1.15, P = 0.908) or heart failure hospitalization(RR: 0.87, 95%CI: 0.68-1.11, P = 0.271). CONCLUSION From the available clinical trials, ivabradine + betablocker resulted in a significantly greater reduction in HRcoupled with improvement in combined end-point of heart failure readmission and cardiovascular death but with no improvement in all cause or cardiovascular mortality. Given the limited evidence, further randomized controlled trials are essential before widespread clinical application of ivabradine + beta-blocker is advocated for HFrEF.Mahesh Anantha Narayanan Yogesh NV Reddy Janani Baskaran Abhishek Deshmukh David G Benditt Ganesh Raveendran 2017World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,2:5
