Spatial correlation analysis of sea-bottom backscattering显示文摘The principle of the spatial correlation characteristics of sea-bottom backscattering was expounded. The Kirchhoff model is introduced to simulate sea-bottom backscattering and the spatial correlation is calculated. Some sediment characteristic parameters, such as the ratio of sediment mass density to water mass density, the ratio of sediment sound speed to water sound speed, the attenuation coefficient of sound waves, the strength and exponent of seabottom interface roughness spectrum, are considered while simulating and their influences on spatial correlation are analyzed.By establishing the expressions of the sediment characteristic parameters with the logarithmic sediment grain size, the variation tendency of the spatial correlation versus the logarithmic sediment grain size is obtained. The width of the major lobe of the spatial correlation function narrows as the logarithmic sediment grain size increases. The comparisons between simulated data and in-situ data collected in October 2007 have proven that their spatial correlation function waveforms agree well under the same sediment characteristics. | KUAI Duojie WANG Changhong FENG Lei WANG Yuling QIU Wei YI Huiqin CHEN Long | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Acoustics2012,31,3: | 9
Targeted delivery of chlorogenic acid by mannosylated liposomes to effectively promote the polarization of TAMs for the treatment of glioblastoma显示文摘Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)generally display an immunosuppressive M2 phenotype and promote tumor progression and metastasis, suggesting their potential value as a target in cancer immunotherapy.Chlorogenic acid(CHA)has been identified as a potent immunomodulator that promotes the polarization of TAMs from an M2 to an M1 phenotype. However, rapid clearance in vivo and low tumor accumulation have compromised the immunotherapeutic efficacy of CHA in clinical trials. In this study, mannosylated liposomes are developed for targeted delivery of CHA to TAMs.The immunoregulatory effects of CHA,along with the overall antitumor efficacy of CHA-encapsulated mannosylated liposomes, are investigated through in vitro and in vivo experiments. The prepared CHA-encapsulated mannosylated liposomes exhibit an ideal particle size, favorable stability, and preferential accumulation in tumors via the mannose receptor-mediated TAMs-targeting effects.Further,CHA-encapsulated mannosylated liposomes inhibit G422 glioma tumor growth by efficiently promoting the polarization of the pro-tumorigenic M2 phenotype to the anti-tumorigenic M1 phenotype.Overall, these findings indicate that CHA-encapsulated mannosylated liposomes have great potential to enhance the immunotherapeutic efficacy of CHA by inducing a shift from the M2 to the M1 phenotype. | Jun Ye Yanfang Yang Jing Jin Ming Ji Yue Gao Yu Feng Hongliang Wang Xiaoguang Chen Yuling Liu | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 9
Travel Behaviours of Sharing Bicycles in the Central Urban Area Based on Geographically Weighted Regression: The Case of Guangzhou, China显示文摘Mobile information and communication technologies(MICTs) have fully penetrated everyday life in smart societies;this has greatly compressed time, space, and distance, and consequently, reshaped residents’ travel behaviour patterns. As a new mode of shared mobility, the sharing bicycle offers a variety of options for the daily travel of urban residents. Extant studies have mainly examined the travel characteristics and influencing factors of public bicycles with piles, while the travel patterns for sharing bicycles and their driving mechanisms have been largely ignored. Using one week’s travel data for Mobike, this study investigated the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of sharing bicycle travel behaviours in the central urban area of Guangzhou, China;furthermore, it identified the influences of built environment density factors on sharing bicycle travel behaviours based on the geographically weighted regression method. Obvious morning and evening peaks were observed in the sharing bicycle travel patterns for both weekdays and weekends. The old urban area, which had a high degree of mixed function, dense road networks, and cycling-friendly built environments, was the main travel area that attracted sharing bicycles on both weekdays and weekends. Furthermore, factors including the point of interest(POI) for the density of public transport stations, the functional mixing degree, and the density of residential POIs significantly affected residents’ travel behaviours. These findings could enrich discourse regarding shared mobility with a Chinese case characterised by rapidly developing MICTs and also provide references to local authorities for improving slow traffic environments. | WEI Zongcai ZHEN Feng MO Haitong WEI Shuqing PENG Danli ZHANG Yuling | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,1: | 5
Mesenchymal stem cells therapy for acute liver failure: Recent advances and future perspectives显示文摘Acute liver failure(ALF)is a life-threatening disease characterized by the rapid development of hepatocyte death and a systemic inflammatory response, which leads to high mortality.Despite the prevention of ALF complications, therapeutic effectiveness remains limited because of the rapid disease progression. Thus, there is a need to explore various therapeutic approaches.Currently, the only effective treatment is liver transplantation; However, the lack of donors, surgical complications, immunosuppression, and high medical costs limit its clinical application.Recently, mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have been found to exert hepatoprotective effects in ALF through suppression of inflammation, immunoregulation, promotion of mitosis,anti-apoptosis effects, and alleviation of the metabolic and oxidative stress imbalance. In this review,we summarize the advantages and disadvantages of MSCs from different sources and their molecular mechanisms in ALF treatment, along with future perspectives that may provide guidance to improve the current status of MSCs therapy for ALF. | Yuling Luan Xiaoni Kong Yu Feng | 2021 | Liver Research2021,5,2: | 3
Construction of chlorogenic acid-containing liposomes with prolonged antitumor immunity based on T cell regulation显示文摘As a potential cancer immunotherapeutic agent, chlorogenic acid(CHA)has entered phase II clinical trials in China as a lyophilized powder formulation for treating glioma. However, the in vivo instability of CHA necessitates daily intramuscular injections, resulting in patient noncompliance. In this study,CHA-phospholipid complex(PC)-containing PEGylated liposomes(CHA-PC PEG-Lipo,named as CPPL),with CHA-PC as the drug intermediate, were prepared to lower the administration frequency.CPPL demonstrated excellent physicochemical properties, enhanced tumor accumulation, and inhibited tumor growth even when the administration interval was prolonged to 4 days when compared to a CHA solution and CHA-PC loaded liposomes(CHA-PC Lipo, labeled as CPL),both of which only demonstrated antitumor efficacy with once-daily administration.Further evaluation of the in vivo antitumor immune mechanism suggested that the extended antitumor immune efficacy of CPPL could be attributed to its distinct immune-stimulating mechanism when compared with CHA solution and CPL,such as stimulating both CD4+and CD8+T cell infiltration, inhibiting myeloid-derived suppressor cell expression, reducing the expression of Th2 related factors, and notably, increasing the memory T cells in tumor tissues. This CHA-containing formulation could reduce the frequency of in vivo CHA administration during cancer treatment via T cells, especially memory T cell regulation. | Yun Zhang Yanfang Yang Jun Ye Yue Gao Hengfeng Liao Junzhuo Zhou Yu Feng Dongdong Liu Yingying Meng Xiaoguang Chen Lili Gao Yuling Liu | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,7: | 2

Oxidized galectin-1 in SLE fails to bind the inhibitory receptor VSTM1 and increases reactive oxygen species levels in neutrophils显示文摘Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation, and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses. However, the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown, representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases. Here,we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1(VSTM1)is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1(Gal1)is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production. However,in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),circulating Gal1 is oxidized and cannot be recognized by VSTM1,leading to increased intracellular reactive oxygen species levels and reduced neutrophil viability.Dysregulated neutrophil function or death contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of SLE by providing danger molecules and autoantigens that drive the production of inflammatory cytokines and the activation of autoreactive lymphocytes.Interestingly, serum levels of glutathione,an antioxidant able to convert oxidized Gal1 to its reduced form, were negatively correlated with SLE disease activity.Taken together, our findings reveal failed inhibitory Gal1/VSTM1 pathway activation in patients with SLE and provide important insights for the development of effective targeted therapies. | Xu Jiang Xinyue Xiao Hao Li Yiyi Gong Min Wang Huaxia Yang Lidan Zhao Ying Jiang Yanping Wei Chongchong Zhao Jin Li Yuling Chen Shan Feng Haiteng Deng Shiliang Ma Yue Xu Yudong Liu George C.Tsokos Minghong Jiang Xuan Zhan | 2023 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,11: | 1

Epidermal restriction confers robustness to organ shapes显示文摘The shape of comparable tissues and organs is consistent among individuals of a given species, but how this consistency or robustness is achieved remains an open question. The interaction between morphogenetic factors determines organ formation and subsequent shaping, which is ultimately a mechanical process.Using a computational approach,we show that the epidermal layer is essential for the robustness of organ geometry control.Specifically, proper epidermal restriction allows organ asymmetry maintenance, and the tensile epidermal layer is sufficient to suppress local variability in growth, leading to shape robustness. The model explains the enhanced organ shape variations in epidermal mutant plants. In addition, differences in the patterns of epidermal restriction may underlie the initial establishment of organ asymmetry. Our results show that epidermal restriction can answer the longstanding question of how cellular growth noise is averaged to produce precise organ shapes, and the findings also shed light on organ asymmetry establishment. | LV wen Zhou Fei Du Shiliang Feng Jinrong Hu Shouqin Lv Mian Long Yuling Jiao | 2020 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,12: | 0
Identification of binding domains and key amino acids involved in the interaction between BmLARK and G4 structure in the BmPOUM2 promoter in Bombyx mori显示文摘It has been found that the non-B form DNA structures, like G-quadruplex(G4)and i-motif,are involved in many important biological processes. Our previous study showed that the silkworm transcription factor BmLARK binds to the G4 structure in the promoter of the transcription factor BmPOUM2 and regulates its promoter activity. However, the binding mechanism between BmLARK and BmPOUM2 G4 structure remains unclear. In this study, binding domains and key amino acid residues involved in the interaction between BmLARK and BmPOUM2 G4 were studied. The electrophoretic mobility shift assay results indicated that the two RNA-recognition motifs(RRM)of BmLARK are simultaneously required for the binding with the G4 structure.Either RRM1 or RRM2 alone could not bind with the G4 structure. The zinc-finger motif was not involved in the binding.A series of mutant proteins with specific amino acid mutations were expressed and used to identify the key amino acid residues involving the interaction. The results indicated thatβsheets, especially theβ1 andβ3 sheets,in the RRM domains of BmLARK played critical roles in the binding with the G4 structure.Several amino acid mutations of RRM1/2 in ribonucleoprotein domain 1(RNP1)(motif inβ3 strand)and RNP2(motif inβ1 strand)caused loss of binding ability, indicating that these amino acids are the key sites for the binding. All the results suggest that RRM domains, particularly their the RNP1 and RNP2 motifs, play important roles not only in RNA recognition, but also in the G4 structure binding. | Yuling Peng Kangkang Niu Guoxing Yu Mingxi Zheng Qiulan Wei Qisheng Song Qili Feng | 2021 | Insect Science2021,28,4: | 0
MSNCs and MgO-MSNCs as drug delivery systems to control the adsorption kinetics and release rate of indometacin显示文摘Mesoporous silica cocoon materials(MSNCs) and MgO doped mesoporous silica cocoons(MgO-MSNCs) with the cocoon-like hierarchical morphology and different alkalinities were synthesized as carriers for acidic drugs. Indomethacin(IMC) was selected as a model drug and loaded into carriers. All materials and the drug-loaded samples were characterized by nitrogen adsorption, FTIR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy(TEM), powder X-Ray diffraction(XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The effect of the Mg/Si molar ratio on the kinetics and equilibrium of IMC adsorption on MgO-MSNCs was thoroughly examined, and it was found that the increase in the Mg/Si molar ratio resulted in an increasing IMC adsorption rate due to the increased affinity between alkaline MgO-MSNCs and weak acid IMC. The adsorption kinetics fitted a pseudo second-order model well. The Freundlich isotherm showed a better fit, indicating that the coverage of IMC on the surface of MgO-MSNCs was heterogeneous. The maximum adsorption capacity of adsorbent was calculated by the Langmuir isotherm equation. The Temkin equation provided further support that the IMC adsorption on MgO-MSNCs was dominated by a chemisorption process. MgO-MSNCs also have the advantage of allowing an adjustment of the drug release rate of weak acid drug. The cytotoxicity assay indicated good biocompatibility of MgO-MSNCs. Our research on MgO-MSNCs carriers demonstrated their potential therapeutic benefit for safe and effective management of IMC adsorption and in vitro release. | Xin Zheng Shuang Feng Xiudan Wang Zhenning Shi Yuling Mao Qinfu Zhao Siling Wang | 2019 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2019,14,3: | 0
