1Antioxidant effects of the orientin and vitexin in Trollius chinensis Bunge in D-galactose-aged mice显示文摘Total flavonoids are the main pharmaceutical components of Trollius chinensis Bunge, and orientin and vitexin are the monomer components of total flavonoids in Trollius chinensis Bunge. In this study, an aged mouse model was established through intraperitoneal injection of D-galactose for 8 weeks, followed by treatment with 40, 20, or 10 mg/kg orientin, vitexin, or a positive control (vitamin E) via intragastric administration for an additional 8 weeks. Orientin, vitexin, and vitamin E improved the general medical status of the aging mice and significantly increased their brain weights. They also produced an obvious rise in total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase levels in the serum, and the levels of superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase, Na+-K+-ATP enzyme, and Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP enzyme in the liver, brain and kidneys. In addition, they significantly reduced malondialdehyde levels in the liver, brain and kidney and lipofuscin levels in the brain. They also significantly improved the neuronal ultrastructure. The 40 mg/kg dose of orientin and vitexin had the same antioxidant capacity as vitamin E. 2Alendronate loaded graphene oxide functionalized collagen sponge for the dual effects of osteogenesis and anti-osteoclastogenesis in osteoporotic rats显示文摘Graphene Oxide(GO)-related hydrogels have been extensively studied in hard tissue repair,because GO can not only enhance the mechanical properties of polymers but also promote osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.However,simple GO-related hydrogels are not ideal for the repair of osteoporotic bone defects as the overactive osteoclasts in osteoporosis.Alendronate(Aln)is known to inhibit osteoclasts and may bind to GO through covalent connection.Therefore,delivering Aln in GO-related hydrogels may be effective to repair osteoporotic bone defects.Here,we developed a control-released system which is constructed by collagen(Col)-GO sponges loaded with Aln(Col-GO-Aln)for osteoporotic bone defect repair.In vitro,Col-GO-Aln sponges prolonged the release period of Aln,and the sponge containing 0.05%(w/v)GO released Aln faster than sponge with 0.2%GO.Furthermore,tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP)and F-actin staining demonstrated that Col-GO-Aln sponges effectively inhibited osteoclastogenesis of monocyte-macrophages.In vivo,micro-CT scan showed that the volume of newborn bone in defect site by 0.05%GO sponge was nearly three times larger than that of other groups.Moreover,the CT and histological examinations of rat femur proved that Col-GO-Aln sponges decreased the number of osteoclasts and suppressed the systemic bone loss in osteoporotic rats.These findings reveal that the application of GO as carriers of anti-osteoporosis drugs is a viable treatment for osteoporosis.The results also underscore the potential of GO-related hydrogels with Aln-releasing capacity for bone regeneration in osteoporosis.Yuyang Zeng Muran Zhou Lifeng Chen Huimin Fang Shaokai Liu Chuchao Zhou Jiaming Sun Zhenxing Wang 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,4:10
3Highly expressed BMP9/GDF2 in postnatal mouse liver and lungs may account for its pleiotropic effects on stem cell differentiation,angiogenesis,tumor growth and metabolism显示文摘Bone morphogenetic protein 9(BMP9)(or GDF2)was originally identified from fetal mouse liver cDNA libraries.Emerging evidence indicates BMP9 exerts diverse and pleiotropic functions during postnatal development and in maintaining tissue homeostasis.However,the expression landscape of BMP9 signaling during development and/or in adult tissues remains to be analyzed.Here,we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the expression landscape of BMP9 and its signaling mediators in postnatal mice.By analyzing mouse ENCODE transcriptome datasets we found Bmp9 was highly expressed in the liver and detectable in embryonic brain,adult lungs and adult placenta.We next conducted a comprehensive qPCR analysis of RNAs isolated from major mouse tissues/organs at various ages.We found that Bmp9 was highly expressed in the liver and lung tissues of young adult mice,but decreased in older mice.Interestingly,Bmp9 was only expressed at low to modest levels in developing bones.BMP9-associated TGFβ/BMPR type I receptor Alk1 was highly expressed in the adult lungs.Furthermore,the feedback inhibitor Smads Smad6 and Smad7 were widely expressed in mouse postnatal tissues.However,the BMP signaling antagonist noggin was highly expressed in fat and heart in the older age groups,as well as in kidney,liver and lungs in a biphasic fashion.Thus,our findings indicate that the circulating BMP9 produced in liver and lungs may account for its pleiotropic effects on postnatal tissues/organs although possible roles of BMP9 signaling in liver and lungs remain to be fully understood.Wei Liu Zhongliang Deng Zongyue Zeng Jiaming Fan Yixiao Feng Xi Wang Daigui Cao Bo Zhang Lijuan Yang Bin Liu Mikhail Pakvasa William Wagstaff Xiaoxing Wu Huaxiu Luo Jing Zhang Meng Zhang Fang He Yukun Mao Huiming Ding Yongtao Zhang Changchun Niu Rex C.Haydon Hue H.Luu Jennifer Moriatis Wolf Michael J.Lee Wei Huang Tong-Chuan He Yulong Zou 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,2:9

7Highly Dispersed Pt Species with Excellent Stability and Catalytic Performance by Reducing a Perovskite-Type Oxide Precursor for CO Oxidation显示文摘A new scheme for the preparation of highly dispersed precious metal catalysts is proposed in this work. Samples of LaCo_(1-x)Pt_xO_3/SiO_2( x = 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.09, and 0.10) were prepared through a simple method of citrate acid complexation combined with impregnation. In a nanocrystallite of LaCo_(1-x)Pt_xO_3, ions of lanthanum, cobalt, and platinum are evenly mixed at the atomic level and confined within the nanocrystallite. In the reduction process, platinum ions were reduced and migrated onto the surface of the nanocrystallite, and the platinum should be highly dispersed owing to the even mixing of the platinum ions in the precursor. When x = 0.05 or lower, the highest dispersion of Pt could be achieved. The highly dispersed Pt is stable, because of the strong interaction between Pt atoms and the support. The catalysts were characterized by BET surface area, temperature-programmed reduction, X-ray diff raction, transmission electron microscopy, CO temperatureprogrammed desorption, and turnover frequency. 10Development of Diapirs and Accumulation of Natural Gases in Yinggehai Basin显示文摘Overpressure developed throughout most of the Yinggehai basin. The burial depth to top overpressure varied from about 1 600 m to 4 500 m, with the shallowest top overpressure occurring in the depocenter. The main cause of the overpressure was disequilibrium compaction resulting from rapid sedimentation of fine grained sediments. The overpressure was strengthened by the retention of fluids including gases due to lack of faults before diapir development. The diapirism in the Yinggehai basin was a combined result of the strong overpressure and the tensile stress field caused by the right lateral slip of the boundary fault. The diapirism, a product of the movement of overpressured fluids and plastic shales, shaped the vertical conduits from source to traps that would be absent without overpressured fluid release. 11Argonaute(AGO)proteins play an essential role in mediating BMP9-induced osteogenic signaling in mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)显示文摘As multipotent progenitor cells,mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)can renew themselves and give rise to multiple lineages including osteoblastic,chondrogenic and adipogenic lineages.It’s previously shown that BMP9 is the most potent BMP and induces osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of MSCs.However,the molecular mechanism through which BMP9 regulates MSC differentiation remains poorly understood.Emerging evidence indicates that noncoding RNAs,especially microRNAs,may play important roles in regulating MSC differentiation and bone formation.As highly conserved RNA binding proteins,Argonaute(AGO)proteins are essential components of the multi-protein RNA-induced silencing complexes(RISCs),which are critical for small RNA biogenesis.Here,we investigate possible roles of AGO proteins in BMP9-induced lineage-specific differentiation of MSCs.We first found that BMP9 upregulated the expression of Ago1,Ago2 and Ago3 in MSCs.By engineering multiplex siRNA vectors that express multiple siRNAs targeting individual Ago genes or all four Ago genes,we found that silencing individual Ago expression led to a decrease in BMP9-induced early osteogenic marker alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity in MSCs.Furthermore,we demonstrated that simultaneously silencing all four Ago genes significantly diminished BMP9-induced osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of MSCs and matrix mineralization,and ectopic bone formation.Collectively,our findings strongly indicate that AGO proteins and associated small RNA biogenesis pathway play an essential role in mediating BMP9-induced osteogenic differentiation of MSCs.Yukun Mao Na Ni Linjuan Huang Jiaming Fan Hao Wang Fang He Qing Liu Deyao Shi Kai Fu Mikhail Pakvasa William Wagstaff Andrew Blake Tucker Connie Chen Russell R.Reid Rex C.Haydon Sherwin H.Ho Michael J.Lee Tong-Chuan He Jian Yang Le Shen Lin Cai Hue H.Luu 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,6:1

14Killing two birds with one stone:Constructing tri-elements doped and hollow-structured carbon sphere by a single template for advanced potassium-ion hybrid capacitors显示文摘Integrating the merits of long lifespan and excellent energy as well as power densities,potassium-ion hybrid capacitors(PIHCs)exhibit great prospects for future energy storage devices.To boost comprehensive performance of PIHCs,heteroatom-doping and morphology-tuning as two comprehensive strategies have been devoted to designing uniquely structural carbon-based materials with favorable advantages.An ideal strategy for simultaneous atomic doping and structural regulation is expected to be developed.Herein,we propose a novel'Killing Two Birds with One Stone'strategy to prepare a tri-elements doped hollow carbon sphere(TED-HCS)as PIHCs anodes,that is,a single template of spherical CoP particles is rationally adopted,which not only provides both a P source for heteroatom-doping but also acts as a selfsacrificial template for hollow-structure engineering.The multifunctional TED-HCS presents a high capacity of 473.0 mAh g^(-1) and excellent rate performance of 212.5 mAh g^(-1) at 5.0 A g^(-1).Remarkably,the as-assembled PIHCs show outstanding energy/power density(40.4 Wh kg^(-1)/10500 W kg^(-1))and remain high-capacity retention of 89.15%even cycling 12,000 times.The'Killing Two Birds with One Stone'strategy offers new insight into the search for the preparation of carbon-based materials with multi-elements doping and specific morphology structure.Jiafeng Ruan Yahui Zhao Sainan Luo Jiaming Hu Yuepeng Pang Fang Fang Shiyou Zheng 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,2:0

16Amplitude gradient-based metasurfaces for off-chip terahertz wavefront shaping显示文摘Metasurfaces provide an effective technology platform for manipulating electromagnetic waves,and the existing design methods all highlight the importance of creating a gradient in the output phase across light scattering units.However,in the emerging research subfield of meta-waveguides where a metasurface is driven by guided modes,this phase gradient-oriented approach can only provide a very limited emission aperture,significantly affecting the application potential of such meta-waveguides.In this work,we propose a new design approach that exploits the difference between meta-atoms in their light scattering amplitude.By balancing this amplitude gradient in the meta-atoms against the intensity decay in the energy-feeding waveguide,a large effective aperture can be obtained.Based on this new design approach,three different wavefront shaping functionalities are numerically demonstrated here on multiple devices in the terahertz regime.They include beam expanders that radiate a plane wave,where the beam width can increase by more than 900 times as compared to the guided wave.They also include a metalens that generates a Bessel-beam focus with a width 0.59 times the wavelength,and vortex beam generators that emit light with a tunable topological charge that can reach-30.This amplitude gradient design approach could benefit a variety of off-chip light shaping applications such as remote sensing and 6G wireless communications.WEN LYU JIANZHI HUANG SHENGQI YIN XUKANG WANG JIAMING LIU XU FANG HUA GENG 2023Photonics Research2023,11,9:0
17Episodic Fluid Injections in Overpressured Basins:A Case Study from Yinggehai Basin显示文摘The characteristics, origin and injection history of the Dongfang gas field, the largest gas field found in the Yinggehai basin, are studied by integrated geological, geothermal and geochemical data. The gas field shows considerable variation in hydrocarbon gas, nitrogen and carbon dioxide content, aud has been filled by at least four stage fluids. A strong thermal anomaIy caused by hydrothermal fluid flows occurs in the gas field, as evidenced rrom drill-stem test and fluid iuclusion homogenization temperatures, rock-eval tmax,vitrinite reflectance as well as clay-mineral transformation profiles. Such a thermal anomaly suggests focused, rapid flow of deeply-sourced hydrothermal rluids.
