New Vegetation Index and Its Application in Estimating Leaf Area Index of Rice显示文摘Leaf area index (LAI) is an important characteristic of land surface vegetation system, and is also a key parameter for the models of global water balancing and carbon circulation. By using the reflectance values of Landsat-5 blue, green and red channels simulated from rice reflectance spectrum, the sensitivities of the bands to LAI were analyzed, and the response and capability to estimate LAI of various NDVIs (normalized difference vegetation indices), which were established by substituting the red band of general NDVI with all possible combinations of red, green and blue bands, were assessed. Finally, the conclusion was tested by rice data at different conditions. The sensitivities of red, green and blue bands to LAI were different under various conditions. When LAI was less than 3, red and blue bands were more sensitive to LAI. Though green band in the circumstances was less sensitive to LAI than red and blue bands, it was sensitive to LAI in a wider range. When the vegetation indices were constituted by all kinds of combinations of red, green and blue bands, the premise for making the sensitivity of these vegetation indices to LAI be meaningful was that the value of one of the combinations was greater than 0.024, i.e. visible reflectance (VIS)>0.024. Otherwise, the vegetation indices would be saturated, resulting in lower estimation accuracy of LAI. Comparison on the capabilities of the vegetation indices derived from all kinds of combinations of red, green and blue bands to LAI estimation showed that GNDVI (Green NDVI) and GBNDVI (Green-Blue NDVI) had the best relations with LAI. The capabilities of GNDVI and GBNDVI to LAI estimation were tested under different circumstances, and the same result was acquired. It suggested that GNDVI and GBNDVI performed better to predict LAI than the conventional NDVI. | WANG FU min HUANG Jing feng TANG Yan lin WANG Xiu zhen | 2007 | Rice science2007,14,3: | 12
Improved Brassica rapa reference genome by single-molecule sequencing and chromosome conformation capture technologies显示文摘Brassica rapa comprises several important cultivated vegetables and oil crops.Current reference genome assemblies of Brassica rapa are quite fragmented and not highly contiguous, thereby limiting extensive genetic and genomic analyses. Here,we report an improved assembly of the B.rapa genome(v3.0)using single-molecule sequencing, optical mapping, and chromosome conformation capture technologies(Hi-C).Relative to the previous reference genomes, our assembly features a contig N50 size of 1.45 Mb,representing a~30-fold improvement. We also identified a new event that occurred in the B.rapa genome~1.2 million years ago, when a long terminal repeat retrotransposon(LTR-RT)expanded.Further analysis refined the relationship of genome blocks and accurately located the centromeres in the B.rapa genome. The B.rapa genome v3.0 will serve as an important community resource for future genetic and genomic studies in B.rapa.This resource will facilitate breeding efforts in B.rapa,as well as comparative genomic analysis with other Brassica species. | Lei Zhang Xu Cai Jian Wu Min Liu Stefan Grob Feng Cheng Jianli Liang Chengcheng Cai Zhiyuan Liu Bo Liu Fan Wang Song Li Fuyan Liu Xuming Li Lin Cheng Wencai Yang Mai-he Li Ueli Grossniklaus Hongkun Zheng Xiaowu Wang | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 10

Progress in ceramic materials and structure design toward advanced thermal barrier coatings显示文摘Thermal barrier coatings(TBCs)can effectively protect the alloy substrate of hot components in aeroengines or land-based gas turbines by the thermal insulation and corrosion/erosion resistance of the ceramic top coat. However, the continuous pursuit of a higher operating temperature leads to degradation, delamination, and premature failure of the top coat. Both new ceramic materials and new coating structures must be developed to meet the demand for future advanced TBC systems. In this paper, the latest progress of some new ceramic materials is first reviewed. Then,a comprehensive spalling mechanism of the ceramic top coat is summarized to understand the dependence of lifetime on various factors such as oxidation scale growth, ceramic sintering, erosion, and calcium–magnesium–aluminium–silicate(CMAS)molten salt corrosion. Finally, new structural design methods for high-performance TBCs are discussed from the perspectives of lamellar, columnar, and nanostructure inclusions. The latest developments of ceramic top coat will be presented in terms of material selection, structural design, and failure mechanism, and the comprehensive guidance will be provided for the development of next-generation advanced TBCs with higher temperature resistance, better thermal insulation, and longer lifetime. | Zhi-Yuan WEI Guo-Hui MENG Lin CHEN Guang-Rong LI Mei-Jun LIU Wei-Xu ZHANG Li-Na ZHAO Qiang ZHANG Xiao-Dong ZHANG Chun-Lei WAN Zhi-Xue QU Lin CHEN Jing FENG Ling LIU Hui DONG Ze-Bin BAO Xiao-Feng ZHAO Xiao-Feng ZHANG Lei GUO Liang WANG Bo CHENG Wei-Wei ZHANG Peng-Yun XU Guan-Jun YANG Hong-Neng CAI Hong CUI You WANG Fu-Xing YE Zhuang MA Wei PAN Min LIU Ke-Song ZHOU Chang-Jiu LI | 2022 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,7: | 9

Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes. | MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 无 | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12: | 8

Promoter methylation of Wnt/β-Catenin signal inhibitor TMEM88 is associated with unfavorable prognosis of nonsmall cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective:Recent research has indicated that altered promoter methylation of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes is an important mechanism in lung cancer development and progression. In this study,we investigated the association between promoter methylation of TMEM88,a possible inhibitor of the Wnt/β-Catenin signaling, and the survival of patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:Twelve pairs of tumor and adjacent non-tumor samples were used for microarray analyses of DNA methylation and gene expression. For validation, more than two hundred additional samples were analyzed for methylation using bisulfite pyrosequencing and for gene expression using q RT-PCR.Then the cell function were tested by wound healing,transwell,CCK8 and cell cycle assay. Results:Our analysis of patient specimens showed that TMEM88 methylation was higher in NSCLC tumors(82.2%±10.3,P<0.01)compared with the adjacent normal tissues(65.9%±7.2).The survival analysis revealed that patients with high TMEM88methylation had a shorter overall survival(46 months)compared with patients with low TMEM88 methylation(>56 months;P=0.021).In addition,we found that demethylation treatment could inhibit tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, which was supportive of an association between methylation and survival. Conclusions:Based on these consistent observations,we concluded that TMEM88 may play an important role in NSCLC progression and that promoter methylation of TMEM88 may serve as a biomarker for NSCLC prognosis and treatment. | Rongna Ma Nannan Feng Xiao Yu Hongyan Lin Xiaohong Zhang Oumin Shi Huan Zhang Shuo Zhang Lei Li Min Zheng Ming Gao Herbert Yu Biyun Qian | 2017 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,4: | 6

Serum Gamma-glutamyl Transferase Levels Predict Functional Outcomes after Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage显示文摘Objective We aim to explore the potential association between serum gamma-glutamyl transferase levels and functional outcome after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in a Chinese population. Methods A total of 386 aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients were included in the study from September 2007 to February 2015. Baseline serum gamma-glutamyl transferase levels and 6-month follow-up functional outcomes were determined. A poor outcome was defined as a modified ranking scale score of ≥ 3. The multivariable logistic model was used to analyze the relationship between serum gamma-glutamyl transferase and clinical outcomes after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Results The adjusted poor outcome rates of patients with gamma-glutamyl transferase levels of < 30 U/L, 30-50 U/L and ≥ 50 U/L were 16.7%, 19.6%, and 34.4%, respectively(P < 0.01). The age-sex and multivariable adjusted odds ratios(95% confidence intervals) of poor prognosis comparing the top group(≥ 50 U/L) with the lowest group(< 30 U/L) were 5.76(2.74-12.13), 6.64(2.05-21.52), and 6.36(1.92-21.02). A significant linear trend existed between gamma-glutamyl transferase level and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage prognosis. This association was also observed among nondrinkers. Conclusion Patients with higher gamma-glutamyl transferase levels were more likely to have a poor prognosis. Serum gamma-glutamyl transferase can be considered to be an independent predictor of functional outcomes after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. | XU Tian WANG Wei ZHAI Lin ZHANG Yun Feng ZHOU Hong Zhi WU Xin Min LI Ai Hong XIE Li Li NING Xiao Jin JI Yu Teng WANG Hong Mei KE Kai Fu | 2017 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017,30,3: | 5
Ethnic Differences in Preterm Birth Risks for Pregnant Women with Thyroid Dysfunction or Autoimmunity:A Meta-analysis显示文摘Objective Abnormal maternal thyroid function is associated with preterm birth. However, this association stays dubious in relevant individual studies for ethnic difference reasons and lack of direct supporting data. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between preterm birth and thyroid dysfunction or autoimmunity based on ethnic differences. Methods Relevant studies were identified through searches of MEDLINE,Excerpta Medica,Wan Fang,China Biological Medicine disc, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure from inception to June 15,2016.Original articles in which an incidence or prevalence of thyroid dysfunction or autoimmunity before second trimester of pregnancy could be extracted were included. Results Thirty-two unique studies were included for the final meta-analysis.Patients involved were divided into two groups:Group 1(G1) and Group 2(G2) comprising of Asian and Caucasian populations, respectively.Positive thyroid antibodies were associated with the occurrence of preterm birth in both G1 [odds ratio(OR):3.62,95% confidence interval(CI):2.83-4.65] and G2(OR:1.35,95% CI:1.17-1.56);hypothyroidism,only in G2(OR:1.20,CI:1.09-1.33);and subclinical hypothyroidism or hypothyroxinemia,in neither group. Conclusion Thyroid autoimmunity may be a more favorable factor leading to preterm birth among pregnant women of different ethnicities, compared with thyroid dysfunction. | LI Min WANG Shao Wei WU Feng Li SHI Jin YU Pu Lin PENG Xiu Ling SUN Liang | 2016 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,10: | 5
Environmental and Psycho-social Factors Related to Prostate Cancer Risk in the Chinese Population:a Case-control Study显示文摘Objective To study the risk environmental and psycho-social factors associated to prostate cancer(PCa) in Chinese population. Methods 250 PCa patients and 500 controls were enrolled in this case-control study. Information was collected and logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the odds ratios(OR) and 95% confidence intervals(95% CI) for relationship between lifestyle, eating habits and psycho-social factors with PCa risk. Results Green vegetables and green tea were associated with a decreased risk of PCa(OR=0.39, 95% CI: 0.28-0.53; OR=0.59, 95% CI: 0.40-0.87, respectively). Family history of PCa(OR=7.16, 95% CI: 2.01-25.49), history of prostate diseases(OR=2.28, 95% CI: 1.53-3.41), alcohol consumption(OR=1.97, 95% CI: 1.33-2.90), red meat consumption(OR=1.74, 95% CI: 1.20-2.52), barbecued(OR=2.29, 95% CI: 1.11-4.73) or fried(OR=2.35, 95% CI: 1.24-4.43) foods were related with increased PCa risk. Negative psycho-social factors including occupational setbacks(OR=1.61, 95% CI: 1.00-2.59), marital separation(OR=1.94, 95% CI: 1.29-2.91), self-contained suffering(OR=2.37, 95% CI: 1.58-3.55), and high sensitivity to the personal comments(OR=1.73, 95% CI: 1.18-2.54) were related to PCa. Conclusion Regular consumption of green vegetables and green tea may suggest protective effects on PCa. Alcohol consumption, red meat consumption and barbecued or fried foods were associated with PCa. | 16 | Interferon-γ Expression in Natural Killer Cells and Natural Killer T Cells Is Suppressed in Early Pregnancy显示文摘Recent study has suggested that innate immune system might play an important role in pregnancy progression. In this study,to investigate whether NK cells and NKT cells, instead of T cells, are the dominant populations of peripheral blood in early pregnancy, flow cytometry was used to detect the percentage and intracellular cytokine expressions of T cells,NK cells,NKT cells in peripheral blood of non-pregnant women and early pregnant women. In our result, the percentages of NK cells and NKT cells were significantly increased in pregnancy compared to non-pregnancy. However, the percentage of T cells was not changed. We did not detect the Th2-dominance of total lymphocytes or T cells in peripheral blood of early pregnant women and there were also no significant changes of type 1 and type 2 cytokines in T cells, but IFN-γ production in both NK and NKT cells was decreased in early pregnancy. These results suggest that the innate immune system including NK cells and NKT cells should play a pivotal role in pregnancy progression. Type 1/type 2 shift mechanisms in innate immune system during the human early pregnancy should be paid more attention. | Yongyun Shi Bin Ling Ying Zhou Ting Gao Dingqing Feng Min Xiao Lin Feng | 2007 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2007,4,5: | 4
Exosomes derived from 3D-cultured MSCs improve therapeutic effects in periodontitis and experimental colitis and restore the Th17 cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontium显示文摘Although mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(MSC-exos)have been shown to have therapeutic effects in experimental periodontitis, their drawbacks, such as low yield and limited efficacy, have hampered their clinical application. These drawbacks can be largely reduced by replacing the traditional 2D culture system with a 3D system. However, the potential function of MSC-exos produced by 3D culture(3D-exos)in periodontitis remains elusive. This study showed that compared with MSC-exos generated via 2D culture(2D-exos),3D-exos showed enhanced anti-inflammatory effects in a ligature-induced model of periodontitis by restoring the reactive T helper 17(Th17)cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontal tissues.Mechanistically,3D-exos exhibited greater enrichment of miR-1246,which can suppress the expression of Nfat5,a key factor that mediates Th17 cell polarization in a sequence-dependent manner.Furthermore,we found that recovery of the Th17 cell/Treg balance in the inflamed periodontium by the local injection of 3D-exos attenuated experimental colitis. Our study not only showed that by restoring the Th17 cell/Treg balance through the miR-1246/Nfat5 axis, the 3D culture system improved the function of MSC-exos in the treatment of periodontitis, but also it provided a basis for treating inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)by restoring immune responses in the inflamed periodontium. | Yong Zhang Jiayao Chen Haijun Fu Shuhong Kuang Feng He Min Zhang Zongshan Shen Wei Qin Zhengmei Lin Shuheng Huang | 2021 | International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4: | 4

Towards a global One Health index: a potential assessment tool for One Health performance显示文摘Background:A One Health approach has been increasingly mainstreamed by the international community, as it provides for holistic thinking in recognizing the close links and inter-dependence of the health of humans, animals and the environment. However, the dearth of real-world evidence has hampered application of a One Health approach in shaping policies and practice. This study proposes the development of a potential evaluation tool for One Health performance, in order to contribute to the scientific measurement of One Health approach and the identification of gaps where One Health capacity building is most urgently needed. Methods:We describe five steps towards a global One Health index (GOHI), including (i) framework formulation;(ii) indicator selection;(iii) database building;(iv) weight determination;and (v) GOHI scores calculation. A cell-like framework for GOHI is proposed, which comprises an external drivers index (EDI), an intrinsic drivers index (IDI) and a core drivers index (CDI). We construct the indicator scheme for GOHI based on this framework after multiple rounds of panel discussions with our expert advisory committee. A fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is adopted to determine the weights for each of the indicators. Results:The weighted indicator scheme of GOHI comprises three first-level indicators, 13 second-level indicators, and 57 third-level indicators. According to the pilot analysis based on the data from more than 200 countries/territories the GOHI scores overall are far from ideal (the highest score of 65.0 out of a maximum score of 100), and we found considerable variations among different countries/territories (31.8–65.0). The results from the pilot analysis are consistent with the results from a literature review, which suggests that a GOHI as a potential tool for the assessment of One Health performance might be feasible. Conclusions:GOHI—subject to rigorous validation—would represent the world’s first evaluation tool that constructs the conceptual framework from a holistic perspective of One Health. Future application of GOHI might promote a common understanding of a strong One Health approach and provide reference for promoting effective measures to strengthen One Health capacity building. With further adaptations under various scenarios, GOHI, along with its technical protocols and databases, will be updated regularly to address current technical limitations, and capture new knowledge. | Xiao-Xi Zhang Jing-Shu Liu Le-Fei Han Shang Xia Shi-Zhu Li Odel YLi Kokouvi Kassegne Min Li Kun Yin Qin-Qin Hu Le-Shan Xiu Yong-Zhang Zhu Liang-Yu Huang Xiang-Cheng Wang Yi Zhang Han-Qing Zhao Jing-Xian Yin Tian-Ge Jiang Qin Li Si-Wei Fei Si-Yu Gu Fu-Min Chen Nan Zhou Zi-Le Cheng Yi Xie Hui-Min Li Jin Chen Zhao-Yu Guo Jia-Xin Feng Lin Ai Jing-Bo Xue Qian Ye Liz Grant Jun-Xia Song Geoff Simm Jürg Utzinger Xiao-Kui Guo Xiao-Nong Zhou | 2022 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,3: | 3
Entinostat,a classⅠselective histone deacetylase inhibitor, plus exemestane for Chinese patients with hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer:A multicenter,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled,phase 3 trial显示文摘Entinostat plus exemestane in hormone receptor-positive(HR+)advanced breast cancer(ABC)previously showed encouraging outcomes. This multicenter phase 3 trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of entinostat plus exemestane in Chinese patients with HR+ABC that relapsed/progressed after≥1 endocrine therapy.Patients were randomized(2:1)to oral exemestane 25 mg/day plus entinostat(n=235)or placebo(n=119)5 mg/week in 28-day cycles. The primary endpoint was the independent radiographic committee(IRC)-assessed progression-free survival(PFS).The median age was 52(range,28—75)years and 222(62.7%)patients were postmenopausal.CDK4/6 inhibitors and fulvestrant were previously used in 23(6.5%)and 92(26.0%)patients,respectively.The baseline characteristics were comparable between the entinostat and placebo groups. The median PFS was 6.32(95%CI,5.30—9.11)and 3.72(95%CI,1.91—5.49)months in the entinostat and placebo groups(HR,0.76;95%CI,0.58—0.98;P=0.046),respectively.Grade≥3 adverse events(AEs)occurred in 154(65.5%)patients in the entinostat group versus 23(19.3%)in the placebo group, and the most common grade≥3 treatment-related AEs were neutropenia[103(43.8%)],thrombocytopenia[20(8.5%)],and leucopenia[15(6.4%)].Entinostat plus exemestane significantly improved PFS compared with exemestane, with generally manageable toxicities in HR+ABC(ClinicalTrials.gov#NCT03538171). | Binghe Xu Qingyuan Zhang Xichun Hu Qing Li Tao Sun Wei Li Quchang Ouyang Jingfen Wang Zhongsheng Tong Min Yan Huiping Li Xiaohua Zeng Changping Shan Xian Wang Xi Yan Jian Zhang Yue Zhang Jiani Wang Liang Zhang Ying Lin Jifeng Feng Qianjun Chen Jian Huang Lu Zhang Lisong Yang Ying Tian Hongyan Shang | 2023 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,5: | 3
