22018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 5Postconditioning of sevoflurane and propofol is associated with mitochondrial permeability transition pore显示文摘Background: Sevoflurane and propofol are effective cardioprotective anaesthetic agents, though the cardioprotection of propofol has not been shown in humans. Their roles and underlying mechanisms in anesthetic postconditioning are unclear. Mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening is a major cause of ischemia-reperfusion injury. Here we investigated sevoflurane- and propofol-induced postconditioning and their relationship with MPTP. Methods: Isolated perfused rat hearts were exposed to 40 min of ischemia followed by 1 h of reperfusion. During the first 15 min of reperfusion, hearts were treated with either control buffer (CTRL group) or buffer containing 20 μmol/L atractyloside (ATR group), 3% (v/v) sevoflurane (SPC group), 50 μmol/L propofol (PPC group), or the combination of atractyloside with respective anesthetics (SPC+ATR and PPC+ATR groups). Infarct size was determined by dividing the total necrotic area of the left ventricle by the total left ventricular slice area (percent necrotic area). Results: Hearts treated with sevoflurane or propofol showed significantly better recovery of coronary flow, end-diastolic pressures, left ventricular developed pressure and derivatives compared with controls. Sevoflurane resulted in more protective alteration of hemodynamics at most time point of reperfusion than propofol. These improvements were paralleled with the reduction of lactate dehydrogenase release and the decrease of infarct size (SPC vs CTRL: (17.48±2.70)% vs (48.47±6.03)%, P<0.05; PPC vs CTRL: (35.60±2.10)% vs (48.47±6.03)%, P<0.05). SPC group had less infarct size than PPC group (SPC vs PPC: (17.48±2.70)% vs (35.60±2.10)%, P<0.05). Atractyloside coadministration attenuated or completely blocked the cardioprotective effect of postconditioning of sevoflurane and propofol. Conclusion: Postconditioning of sevoflurane and propofol has cardio-protective effect against ischemia-reperfusion injury of heart, which is associated with inhibition of MPTP opening. 7Soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen in forest ecosystems of Northeast China:a comparison between natural secondary forest and larch plantation显示文摘Aims Natural secondary forest(NSF)and larch plantation are two of the predominant forest types in Northeast China.However,how the two types of forests compare in sustaining soil quality is not well understood.This study was conducted to determine how natural secondary forest and larch plantation would differ in soil microbial biomass and soil organic matter quality.Methods Microbial biomass carbon(MBC),microbial biomass nitrogen(MBN),soil organic carbon(SOC)and total nitrogen(TN)in the 0-to 15-cm and 15-to 30-cm soil layers were investigated by making chemical and biological measurements in the montane region of eastern Liaoning Province,Northeast China,during the growing season of 2008 in stands of NSF and Larix olgensis plantation(LOP).Important Findings We found that soil MBC and MBN were significantly lower in the LOP than in the NSF.Both MBC and MBN declined significantly with increasing soil depth in the two types of stands.The ratios of MBC to SOC(MBC/SOC)and MBN to TN(MBN/TN)were also significantly lower in the LOP than in the NSF.Moreover,the values of MBC,MBC/SOC,and MBN/TN significantly varied with time and followed a similar pattern during the growing season,all with an apparent peak in summer.Our results indicate that NSF is better in sustaining soil microbial biomass and nutrients than larch plantation in the temperate Northeast China.This calls for cautions in large-scale conversions of the native forests to coniferous plantations as a forest management practice on concerns of sustaining soil productivity.Kai Yang Jiaojun Zhu Min Zhang Qiaoling Yan Osbert Jianxin Sun 2010Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,3:44
8Ultrasonography guided percutaneous radiofrequency ablation for hepatic cavernous hemangioma显示文摘AIM: Hepatic cavernous hemangioma (HCH) is the mostcommon benign tumor of the liver and its management isstill controversial. Recent successin situ radiofrequencyablation of hepatic malignancies has led us to consider usingthis technique in patients with HCH. This study was to assessthe efficacy, safety, and complications of percutaneousradiofrequency ablation (PRFA) under ultrasonographyguidance in patients with HCH.METHODS: Twelve patients (four men and eight women,age ranged 33-56 years, mean age was 41.7 years) with 15hepatic cavernous hemangiomas (2.5 cm to 9.5 cm) weretreated using the RF-2000 generator and 10-needle LeVeenelectrode percutaneously guided by B-ultrasound. Lesionslarger than 3 cm were treated by multiple overlappingablations that encompass the entire lesion as well as a rimof normal liver tissue (approximately 0.5 cm).RESULTS: All the patients who received PRFA therapy hadno severe pain, bleeding or bile leakage during and afterthe procedures. Nine to 34 months′ follow-up (mean, 21months) by ultrasound and/or spiral CT scan demonstratedthat the ablated lesions in this group were shrunk remarkably,and the shrunken range was 38-79 % (mean, 67 % per 21months). 9Relationship between phenotypes of cell-function differentiation and pathobiological behavior of gastric carcinomas显示文摘AIM To reveal the correlation between thefunctional differentiation phenotypes of gastriccarcinoma cells and the invasion and metastasisby a new way of cell-function classification.METHODS Surgically resected specimens of361 gastric carcinomas (GC) were investigatedwith enzyme-, mucin-, and tumor-related markerimmunohistochemist ry. According to thedirection of cell-function differentiation,stomach carcinomas were divided into fivefunctionally differentiated types.iation type (AFDT): there were 82 (22.7%)patients including 76 (92.7%) aged 45 years.Sixty-nine (84.1%) cases belonged to theintestinal type. Thirty-eight (46.3%) expressedCD44v6 and 9 (13.6%) of 66 male patientsdeveloped liver metastasis. The 5-year survivalrate of patients in this group (58.5%) was higherMucin secreting function differentiation type(MSFDT): 54 (15%) cases. Fifty-three (98.1%)tumors had penetrated the serosa, 12 (22.2%)expressed ER and 22 (40.7%) expressedCD44v6. The postoperative 5-year survival ratefunction differentiation type (AMPFDT): therewere 180 (49.9%) cases, including 31 (17.2%)aged yanger than 45 years. The tumor was morecommon in women (62, 34.4%,) and expressedmore frequently estrogen receptors (ER) ( 129,81.7%) than other types (P<0.01). Ovarymetastasis was found in 12 (19.4%) out of 62female subjects. The patients with this type GChad the lowest 5-year survival rate (24.7%)differentiation type (SFDT): 13 (3.6%) cases.Nine (69.2%) tumors of this type derived fromAPUD system, the other 4 (30.7%) were ofdifferent histological differentiation. Sixty percent of the patients survived at least five years.(8.9%) cases. Nineteen (59.4%) cases hadlymph node metastases but no one with liver orovary metastasis. The 5-year survival rate was28.1%.CONCLUSION This new cell-functionclassification of GC is helpful in indicating thecharacteristics of invasion and metastasis of GCwith different cell-function differentiationphenotypes. 11Sevoflurane postconditioning reduces myocardial reperfusion injury in rat isolated hearts via activation of PI3K/Akt signaling and modulation of Bcl-2 family proteins显示文摘Sevoflurane postconditioning reduces myocardial infarct size.The objective of this study was to examine the role of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt pathway in anesthetic postconditioning and to determine whether PI3K/Akt signaling modulates the expression of pro-and antiapoptotic proteins in sevoflurane postconditioning.Isolated and perfused rat hearts were prepared first,and then randomly assigned to the following groups:Sham-operation(Sham),ischemia/reperfusion(Con),sevoflurane postconditioning(SPC),Sham plus 100 nmol/L wortmannin(Sham+Wort),Con+Wort,SPC+Wort,and Con+dimethylsulphoxide(DMSO).Sevoflurane postconditioning was induced by administration of sevoflurane(2.5%,v/v) for 10 min from the onset of reperfusion.Left ventricular developed pressure(LVDP),left ventricular end-diastolic pressure(LVEDP),maximum increase in rate of LVDP(+dP/dt),maximum decrease in rate of LVDP(?dP/dt),heart rate(HR),and coronary flow(CF) were measured at baseline,R30 min(30 min of reperfusion),R60 min,R90 min,and R120 min.Creatine kinase(CK) and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were measured after 5 min and 10 min reperfusion.Infarct size was determined by triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining at the end of reperfusion.Total Akt and phosphorylated Akt(phospho-Akt),Bax,Bcl-2,Bad,and phospho-Bad were determined by Western blot analysis.Analysis of variance(ANOVA) and Student-Newman-Keuls' test were used to investigate the significance of differences between groups.The LVDP,±dP/dt,and CF were higher and LVEDP was lower in the SPC group than in the Con group at all points of reperfusion(P<0.05).The SPC group had significantly reduced CK and LDH release and decreased infarct size compared with the Con group [(22.9±8)% vs.(42.4±9.4)%,respectively;P<0.05].The SPC group also had increased the expression of phospho-Akt,Bcl-2,and phospho-Bad,and decreased the expression of Bax.Wortmannin abolished the cardioprotection of sevoflurane postconditioning.Sevoflurane postconditioning may protect the isolated rat heart.Activation of PI3K and modulation of the expression of pro-and antiapoptotic proteins may play an important role in sevoflurane-induced myocardial protection.Li-na YU Jing YU Feng-jiang ZHANG Mei-juan YANG Ting-ting DING Jun-kuan WANG Wei HE Tao FANG Gang CHEN Min YAN 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,9:36

13Facile Synthesis and Application of Ag-Chemically Converted Graphene Nanocomposite显示文摘An in situ chemical synthesis approach has been employed to prepare an Ag-chemically converted graphene (CCG) nanocomposite. The reduction of graphene oxide sheets was accompanied by generation of Ag nanoparticles. The structure and composition of the nanocomposites were confirmed by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray diffraction. TEM and AFM results suggest a homogeneous distribution of Ag nanoparticles (5-10 nm in size) on CCG sheets. The intensities of the Raman signals of CCG in such nanocomposites are greatly increased by the attached silver nanoparticles, i.e., there is surface-enhanced Raman scattering activity. 14Dopant-Controlled Synthesis of Water-Soluble Hexagonal NaYF_(4) Nanorods with Efficient Upconversion Fluorescence for Multicolor Bioimaging显示文摘A novel strategy is proposed to directly synthesize water-soluble hexagonal NaYF4 nanorods by doping rare-earth ions with large ionic radius (such as La^(3+), Ce^(3+), Pr^(3+), Nd^(3+), Sm^(3+), Eu^(3+), and Gd^(3+)), and the dopant- controlled growth mechanism is studied. Based on the doping effect, we fabricated water-soluble hexagonal NaYF4:(Yb,Er)/La and NaYF4:(Yb,Er)/Ce nanorods, which exhibited much brighter upconversion fluorescence than the corresponding cubic forms. The sizes of the nanorods can be adjusted over a broad range by changing the dopant concentration and reaction time. 17Methionine-dependence and combination chemotherapy on human gastric cancer cells in vitro显示文摘AIM: To elucidate whether human primary gastric cancer and gastric mucosa epithelial calls in vitro can grow normally in a rnethionine (Met) depleted environment, i.e.Met-dependence, and whether Met-depleting status can enhance the killing effect of chemotherapy on gastric cancer cells.lMETHODS: Fresh human gastric cancer and mucosal tissueswere managed to form monocellular suspensions, whichwere then cultured in the Met-free but homocysteine-containing ( MetHcy+ ) medium, with differentchemotherapeutic drugs. The proliferation of the cells wasexamined by cell counter, flow cytometry (FCM) andmicrocytotoxicity assay (MTT).RESULTS: The growth of human primary gastric cancer cellsin Met Hcy+ was suppressed, manifested by the decrease oftotal cell counts [1.46±0.42 ( x 109@L-1) in Met-Hcy+ vs .64±0.44 ( x l09@L-1) in Met+ Hcy, P<0.01], the decline inthe percentage of G0G1 phase cells (0.69±0.24 in Met-Hey+vs 0.80±0.18 in Met+ Hcy, P<0.01) and the increase of Scells(0.24±0.20inMet-Hcy+ vs 0.17 ± 0.16 in Met+ Hcy-, P< 0.01); however, gastric mucusal cells grew normally. IfMet-Hcy+ medium was used in combination withchemotherapeutic drugs, the number of surviving gastriccancer cells dropped significantly.CONCLUSION: Human primary gastric cancer cells in vitroare Met-dependent; however, gastric mucosal cells have notshown the same characteristica. 18Regulatory effect of a Chinese herbal medicine formula on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has become a major cause of chronic liver disease.The Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)Dachaihu decoction(DCHD)has been proved to treat NAFLD with good efficacy in previous studies.Based on the TCM principle of formula formation,we divided DCHD into soothing liver part,invigorating spleen part,and dredging intestine part.Marshall officially proposed the concept of“intestinal-hepatic axis”,which systematically explains the interactions between the intestine and liver.We hypothesized that the effect of CHM on NAFLD is achieved by regulating the liver and intestine.Thus,we aimed to investigate the possible effect of a CHM formula on NAFLD in a rat model.AIM To investigate the effects of a CHM formula(a decoction of Chinese thorowax root,scutellaria root,and white peony root)on NAFLD and its regulatory effect on the“intestinal-liver”axis.METHODS Sixty rats were randomly divided into control,model,pioglitazone hydrochloride(PH),and CHM(a decoction of Chinese thorowax root,scutellaria root,and white peony root)groups.An NAFLD rat model was established using a high-fat highfructose diet for 16 wk.From the 13th week,rats were administered with PH or a decoction of Chinese thorowax,scutellaria,and white peony root(CHM group)for 4 wk.Rats in the control group and model group were administered with an equal volume of distilled water.At the end of the study,blood was collected via the abdominal aorta.Liver tissues were harvested and any morphological changes were observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,Oil red O staining,and Masson staining.In addition,blood lipids,liver function markers,and triglyceride(TG)in liver tissues were analyzed.The levels of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),Toll-like receptor-4(TLR4),and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-кB)in liver tissues and secreted immunoglobulin A(sIgA)in intestinal tissues were analyzed by ELISA,and protein and mRNA expression of occludin and zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)in the intestine were measured using Western blot and reverse transcriptionquantitative polymerase chain reaction,respectively.The endotoxin level in plasma was detected by endpoint chromogenic assay.RESULTS Compared to the normal control group,the liver coefficient,serum TG,total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein(LDL),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),and alanine aminotransferase(ALT),blood glucose,plasma endotoxin,and the levels of TG,TNF-α,TGF-β,NF-kB,and TLR4 in liver tissues increased significantly in the model group,while serum high density lipoprotein(HDL),intestinal sIgA,and protein and mRNA expression of occludin and ZO-1 decreased significantly in the model group(P<0.01).PH and CHM attenuated the elevated liver coefficient,serum TG,TC,LDL,AST,and ALT,blood glucose,plasma endotoxin,and the levels of TG,TNF-α,TGF-β,NF-kB,and TLR4 in liver tissues and increased serum HDL levels compared to the model group(P<0.01).Intestinal sIgA and the protein and mRNA expression of intestinal occludin and ZO-1 were significantly increased in the PH group compared to the model and CHM groups(P<0.01).CONCLUSION The decoction of Chinese thorowax root,scutellaria root,and white peony root is beneficial in regulating lipid metabolism and liver function,which indicates that it has a good effect on the liver.To a certain extent,this CHM formula can affect both the liver and intestine,while its effect on the liver is superior to that on the intestine.Jia-Min Yang Yan Sun Min Wang Xin-Lei Zhang Shu-Jing Zhang Yu-Shan Gao Lin Chen Meng-Yao Wu Lu Zhou Yu-Mei Zhou Yue Wang Feng-Jie Zheng Yu-Hang Li 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,34:24
19Atomically dispersed Au_1 catalyst towards efficient electrochemical synthesis of ammonia显示文摘Tremendous efforts have been devoted to explore energy-efficient strategies of ammonia synthesis to replace Haber–Bosch process which accounts for 1.4% of the annual energy consumption. In this study,atomically dispersed Au_1 catalyst is synthesized and applied in electrochemical synthesis of ammonia under ambient conditions. A high NH_4^+ Faradaic efficiency of 11.1% achieved by our Au_1 catalyst surpasses most of reported catalysts under comparable conditions. Benefiting from efficient atom utilization, an NH_4^+ yield rate of 1,305 lg h^(-1) mg_(Au)^(-1) has been reached, which is roughly 22.5 times as high as that by supported Au nanoparticles. We also demonstrate that by employing our Au_1 catalyst, NH4+can be electrochemically produced directly from N_2 and H_2 with an energy utilization rate of 4.02 mmol kJ^(-1). 20Wx^lv、the Ancestral Allele of Rice Waxy Gene显示文摘In rice grains,the Waxy (Wx) gene is responsible for the synthesis of amylose,the most important determinant for eating and cooking quality.The effects of several Wx alleles on amylose content and the taste of cooked rice have been elucidated.However,the relationship between artificial selection and the evolution of various Wx alleles as well as their distribution remain unclear.Here we report the identification of an ancestral allele,Wx^lv,which dramatically affects the mouthfeel of rice grains by modulating the size of amylose molecules.We demonstrated that WF originated directly from wild rice,and the three major Wx alleles in cultivated rice (Wx^b,Wx^a,and Wx^in) differentiated after the substitution of one base pair at the functional sites.These data indicate that the Wx^lv allele played an important role in artificial selection and domestication.The findings also shed light on the evolution of various Wx alleles,which have greatly contributed to improving the eating and cooking quality of rice.Changquan Zhang Jihui Zhu Shengjie Chen Xiaolei Fan Qianfeng Li Yan Lu Min Wang Hengxiu Yu Chuandeng Yi Shuzhu Tang Minghong Gu Qiaoquan Liu 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,8:22
