| 1 | Satellite-observed trends in the Arctic sea ice concentration for the period 1979–2016显示文摘Arctic sea ice cover has decreased dramatically over the last three decades. This study quanti?es the sea ice concentration(SIC) trends in the Arctic Ocean over the period of 1979–2016 and analyzes their spatial and temporal variations. During each month the SIC trends are negative over the Arctic Ocean, wherein the largest(smallest) rate of decline found in September(March) is-0.48%/a(-0.10%/a).The summer(-0.42%/a) and autumn(-0.31%/a) seasons show faster decrease rates than those of winter(-0.12%/a) and spring(-0.20%/a) seasons. Regional variability is large in the annual SIC trend. The largest SIC trends are observed for the Kara(-0.60%/a) and Barents Seas(-0.54%/a), followed by the Chukchi Sea(-0.48%/a), East Siberian Sea(-0.43%/a), Laptev Sea(-0.38%/a), and Beaufort Sea(-0.36%/a). The annual SIC trend for the whole Arctic Ocean is-0.26%/a over the same period. Furthermore, the in?uences and feedbacks between the SIC and three climate indexes and three climatic parameters, including the Arctic Oscillation(AO), North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO), Dipole anomaly(DA), sea surface temperature(SST), surface air temperature(SAT), and surface wind(SW), are investigated. Statistically, sea ice provides memory for the Arctic climate system so that changes in SIC driven by the climate indices(AO, NAO and DA) can be felt during the ensuing seasons. Positive SST trends can cause greater SIC reductions, which is observed in the Greenland and Barents Seas during the autumn and winter. In contrast, the removal of sea ice(i.e., loss of the insulating layer) likely contributes to a colder sea surface(i.e., decreased SST), as is observed in northern Barents Sea. Decreasing SIC trends can lead to an in-phase enhancement of SAT, while SAT variations seem to have a lagged in?uence on SIC trends. | 2 | Preparation of large-size Al_(2)O_(3)/GdAlO_(3)/ZrO_(2)ternary eutectic ceramic rod by laser directed energy deposition and its microstructure homogenization mechanism显示文摘Laser 3D printing based on melt growth has great potential in rapid preparation of Al_(2)O_(3)-based eutectic ce ramics.In this work,la rge-scale Al_(2)O_(3)/GdAlO_(3)/ZrO_(2)ternary eutectic ceramic rod with diameter of 4-5 mm and height higher than 250 mm was additively manufactured by laser directed energy deposition.Especially,heat treatment was applied to eliminate the microstructure heterogeneity in the as-deposited eutectic ceramic,and the microstructure homogenization mechanism was studied in depth.The results indicate that colonies and banded structures completely disappear after the heat treatment,producing a homogeneous network eutectic structure.The microstructure homogenization is revealed to experience three stages of discontinuous coarsening,continuous coarsening and microstructure coalescence.Additionally,it is found that the eutectic spacing linearly increases with the heat treatment time,meaning that the coarsening behavior of the laser 3D-printed Al_(2)O_(3)/GdAlO_(3)/ZrO_(2)eutectic ceramic satisfies well with the Graham-Kraft model. | Haifang Liu Haijun Su Zhonglin Shen Di Zhao Yuan Liu Yinuo Guo Min Guo Jun Zhang Lin Liu Hengzhi Fu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,26: | 5 |
| 3 | Distribution control and formation mechanism of gas inclusions in directionally solidified Al2O3-Er3Al5O12-ZrO2 ternary eutectic ceramic by laser floating zone melting显示文摘Distribution control and formation mechanism of gas inclusions formed in directionally solidified Al2O3-Er3Al5O12-ZrO2 eutectic ceramic rods are explored during laser floating zone melting. In atmospheric environment, highly-dense bubble-free eutectic rods are well fabricated at low solidification rate(<25μm/s). Gas inclusions form intermittently when the solidification rate is in the range of 25-50 μm/s,but produce continuously at higher solidification rates(100-200 μm/s). The gas inclusions exhibit an elongated finger-like pattern along the growth direction, which of the maximum value of diameter first increases and then decreases with increasing the solidification rate. Meanwhile, the volume fraction of gas inclusions increased gradually with the solidification rate. | 4 | Exosomes derived from 3D-cultured MSCs improve therapeutic effects in periodontitis and experimental colitis and restore the Th17 cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontium显示文摘Although mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(MSC-exos)have been shown to have therapeutic effects in experimental periodontitis,their drawbacks,such as low yield and limited efficacy,have hampered their clinical application.These drawbacks can be largely reduced by replacing the traditional 2D culture system with a 3D system.However,the potential function of MSC-exos produced by 3D culture(3D-exos)in periodontitis remains elusive.This study showed that compared with MSC-exos generated via 2D culture(2D-exos),3D-exos showed enhanced anti-inflammatory effects in a ligature-induced model of periodontitis by restoring the reactive T helper 17(Th17)cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontal tissues.Mechanistically,3D-exos exhibited greater enrichment of miR-1246,which can suppress the expression of Nfat5,a key factor that mediates Th17 cell polarization in a sequence-dependent manner.Furthermore,we found that recovery of the Th17 cell/Treg balance in the inflamed periodontium by the local injection of 3D-exos attenuated experimental colitis.Our study not only showed that by restoring the Th17 cell/Treg balance through the miR-1246/Nfat5 axis,the 3D culture system improved the function of MSC-exos in the treatment of periodontitis,but also it provided a basis for treating inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)by restoring immune responses in the inflamed periodontium. | Yong Zhang Jiayao Chen Haijun Fu Shuhong Kuang Feng He Min Zhang Zongshan Shen Wei Qin Zhengmei Lin Shuheng Huang | 2021 | International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4: | 4 |

| 6 | Recent satellite-derived sea ice volume flux through the Fram Strait: 2011–2015显示文摘The Fram Strait(FS) is the primary region of sea ice export from the Arctic Ocean and thus plays an important role in regulating the amount of sea ice and fresh water entering the North Atlantic seas. A 5 a(2011–2015) sea ice thickness record retrieved from Cryo Sat-2 observations is used to derive a sea ice volume flux via the FS. Over this period, a mean winter accumulative volume flux(WAVF) based on sea ice drift data derived from passivemicrowave measurements, which are provided by the National Snow and Ice Data Center(NSIDC) and the Institut Francais de Recherche pour d'Exploitation de la Mer(IFREMER), amounts to 1 029 km^3(NSIDC) and1 463 km^3(IFREMER), respectively. For this period, a mean monthly volume flux(area flux) difference between the estimates derived from the NSIDC and IFREMER drift data is –62 km^3 per month(–18×10~6 km^2 per month).Analysis reveals that this negative bias is mainly attributable to faster IFREMER drift speeds in comparison with slower NSIDC drift data. NSIDC-based sea ice volume flux estimates are compared with the results from the University of Bremen(UB), and the two products agree relatively well with a mean monthly bias of(5.7±45.9) km^3 per month for the period from January 2011 to August 2013. IFREMER-based volume flux is also in good agreement with previous results of the 1990 s. Compared with P1(1990/1991–1993/1994) and P2(2003/2004–2007/2008), the WAVF estimates indicate a decline of more than 600 km^3 in P3(2011/2012–2014/2015). | 7 | Irrigation-induced pollution of organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls in paddy field ecosystem of Liaohe River Plain,China显示文摘In order to assess the influence of long-term irrigation of polluted river water on the ecological health of the rice fields in the low reach of Liaohe River Plain,a series of environmental samples and biological samples in rice fields,including sediments,paddy soils,mitten-handed crabs(Eriocheir sinensis),loaches(Misgurnus anguillicaudatu) and frog(Hoplobatrachus tigerinus),were collected from the area far away from industrial zones,and polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides(HCH,DDT,HCB and Mirex) were analyzed by high resolution gas chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry(HRGC/HRMS).The comparison of pollutant concentrations and profiles verified that the significant contribution of river water irrigation to PCBs contaminations in paddy soils and the mutual influence of organochlorine pesticide contamination between river sediments and paddy soils.Bioaccumulations of PCBs and organochlorine pesticides in mitten-handed crabs and loaches were site-specific,suggested that they were both the good indicators of ecosystem health.Mitten-handed crabs had the highest capacity to accumulate PCBs and organochlorine pesticides,and also they had the strong ability to degrade these pollutants in their bodies,especially for DDT and HCH.The biota-soil accumulation factors(BSAF) of ΣH CH,ΣDDT,Mirex,HCB and ΣP CBs in mitten-handed crab were calculated to be 24.5,15.3,122.2,28.1 and 54.6,respectively.In view of the strong bioaccumulation ability,the health risk should be concerned for the cultivation of mitten-handed crabs in paddy fields in the low reach of Liaohe River Plain. | TENG Man ZHANG HaiJun FU Qiang LU XianBo CHEN JiPing WEI FuSheng | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,15: | 2 |
| 8 | Unique strength-ductility balance of AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)eutectic high entropy alloy with ultra-fine duplex microstructure prepared by selective laser melting显示文摘As a typical dual-phase eutectic high entropy alloy(EHEA),AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)can achieve the fair matching of strength and ductility,which has attracted wide attention.However,the engineering applications of as-cast AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)EHEAs still face challenges,such as coarse grain and low yield strength resulting from low solidification rate and temperature gradient.In this study,selective laser melting(SLM)was introduced into the preparation of AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)EHEA to realize unique strength-ductility balance,with emphasis on investigating the effects of processing parameters on its eutectic microstructure and properties.The results show that the SLM-ed samples exhibit a completely eutectic structure consisting of ultra-fine face-centered cubic(FCC)and ordered body-centered cubic(B2)phases,and the duplex microstructure undergoes a morphological evolution from lamellar structure to cellular structure as laser energy input reducing.The SLM-ed AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)EHEA presents an excellent match of high tensile strength(1271 MPa),yield strength(966 MPa),and good ductility(22.5%)at room temperature,which are significantly enhanced by the ultra-fine grains and heterogeneous structure due to rapid solidification rate and high temperature gradient during SLM.Especially,the yield strength increment of~50%is realized with no loss in ductility as compared with the as-cast samples with the same composition.On this basis,the precise complex component with excellent mechanical properties is well achieved.This work paves the way for the performance improvement and complex parts preparation of EHEA by microstructural design using laser additive manufacturing. | Yinuo Guo Haijun Su Haotian Zhou Zhonglin Shen Yuan Liu Jun Zhang Lin Liu Hengzhi Fu | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,16: | 2 |

| 20 | Increasing Winter Conductive Heat Transfer in the Arctic Sea-ice-covered Areas: 1979–2014显示文摘Sea ice is a quite sensitive indicator in response to regional and global climate changes. Based on monthly mean PanArctic Ice Ocean Modeling and Assimilation System(PIOMAS) sea ice thickness fields, we computed the conductive heat flux(CHF) in the Arctic Ocean in the four winter months(November–February) for a long period of 36 years(1979–2014). The calculated results for each month manifest the increasing extension of the domain with high CHF values since 1979 till 2014. In 2014, regions of roughly 90% of the central Arctic Ocean have been dominated by the CHF values larger than 18 Wm^(-2)(November–December) and 12 Wm^(-2)(January–February), especially significant in the shelf seas around the Arctic Ocean. Moreover, the population distribution frequency(PDF) patterns of the CHF with time show gradually peak shifting toward increased CHF values. The spatiotemporal patterns in terms of the trends in sea ice thickness and other three geophysical parameters, surface air temperature(SAT), sea ice thickness(SIT), and CHF, are well coupled. This suggests that the thinner sea ice cover preconditions for the more oceanic heat loss into atmosphere(as suggested by increased CHF values), which probably contributes to warmer atmosphere which in turn in the long run will cause thinner ice cover.
