| 5 | Beta receptor blocker therapy for the elderly in the COVID-19 era显示文摘When the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic spread globally from the Hubei region of China in December 2019,the impact on elderly people was particularly unfavorable. The mortality associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection was highest in older individuals,in whom frailty and comorbidities increased susceptibility to severe forms of COVID-19.Unfortunately,in older patients, the course of COVID-19 was often characterized by significant cardiovascular complications, such as heart failure decompensation, arrhythmias, pericarditis, and myopericarditis.Ensuring that the elderly have adequate therapeutic coverage against known cardiovascular diseases and risk factors is particularly important in the COVID-19 era.Beta blockers are widely used for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease. The clinical benefits of beta blockers have been confirmed in elderly patients, and in addition to their negative chronotropic effect, sympathetic inhibition and anti-inflammatory activity are theoretically of great benefit for the treatment of COVID-19 infection.Beta blockers have not been clearly shown to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection, but there is evidence from published studies including elderly patients that beta blockers are associated with a more favorable clinical course of COVID-19 and reduced mortality. In this minireview,we summarize the most important evidence available in the literature on the usefulness of beta blocker therapy for older patients in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. | Elpidio Santillo Monica Migale | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,23: | 1 |
| 6 | Takotsubo syndrome presenting with left bundle branch block in an octogenarian. Is hyponatremia a pathogeni c“common ground”?显示文摘Takotsubo syndrome(TTS)is a cardiovas-cular condition characterized by a transi-ent cardiac dysfunction, generally invol-ving the apical segments of left ventriculum,in ab-sence of significant coronary artery disease.[1]It fre-quently affects postmenopausal women, following physical or psychological stress.[2]TTS often mimicks an acute myocardial infarction(AMI),presenting with symptoms as chest pain,dys-pnea,palpitations and, less commonly,pre-syncope and syncope. | Elpidio Santillo Pierpaolo D’Onofrio Luciano Marini Demetrio Postacchini Lucio Cardinali | 2022 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,8: | 1 |

| 9 | Betanidin significantly reduces blood glucose levels in BALB/c mice fed with an atherogenic diet显示文摘Six weeks BALB/c mice were fed with an atherogenic diet for 24 weeks and purified water ad libitum. An experimental group was given betanidin, orally, during the last 40 days of the experiment at a dose of 9.6 mg per mouse per day.Negative controls were fed with standard rodent chow only.Glycemia was measured at the end of the experiment, after overnight fasting. The group treated with betanidin presented a highly significant reduction of 50.94%compared to positive controls. We conclude that betanidin reduces glycemia in BALB/c mice by an unidentified mechanism. | Agustin LUGO-RADILLO Ivan DELGADO-ENCISO Elpidio PEÑA-BELTRÁN | 2012 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2012,2,4: | 0 |
| 10 | A Scientometric Approach to Analyze Scientific Development on Renewable Energy Sources显示文摘Purpose: This paper aims to point out the scientific development and research density of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic, wind, and biomass, using a mix of computational tools. Based on this, it was possible to verify the existence of new research trends and opportunities in a macro view regarding management, performance evaluation, and decision-making in renewable energy generation systems and installations.Design/methodology/approach: A scientometric approach was used based on a research protocol to retrieve papers from the Scopus database, and through four scientometric questions, to analyze each area. Software such as the Science Mapping Analysis Software Tool(Sci MAT) and Sci2 Tool were used to map the science development and density.Findings: The scientific development of renewable energy areas is highlighted, pointing out research opportunities regarding management, studies on costs and investments, systemic diagnosis, and performance evaluation for decision-making in businesses in these areas.Research limitations: This paper was limited to the articles indexed in the Scopus database and by the questions used to analyze the scientific development of renewable energy areas.Practical implications: The results show the need for a managerial perspective in businesses related to renewable energy sources at the managerial, technical, and operational levels, including performance evaluation, assertive decision making, and adequate use of technical and financial resources.Originality/value: This paper shows that there is a research field to be explored, with gaps to fill and further research to be carried out in this area. Besides, this paper can serve as a basis for other studies and research in other areas and domains. | Jones Luís Schaefer Julio Cezar Mairesse Siluk Ismael Cristofer Baierle Elpidio Oscar Benitez Nara | 2021 | Journal of Data and Information Science2021,6,1: | 0 |
