1树轮记录的自公元1200年以来强火山喷发事件与高亚洲南部河流源区气候水文变化的关联显示文摘强火山喷发作为气候变化重要的外强迫因素,其所造成的气候环境效应一直是气候变化研究热点,而其对于流域水循环影响较少受关注。本文利用采自高亚洲南部河流源区麦吊云杉(Picea brachytyla)树轮样本,研制出一个长达885 a的树木年轮标准宽度年表。基于树轮气候响应分析结果,利用线性回归模型重建研究区自公元1200年上年11月至当年2月平均最低气温变化,重建方程方差解释量47.1%。该气温重建序列显示,研究区自公元1200年经历了8个冷期和9个暖期,包含有10个极冷年和23个极暖年。同时,该气温重建序列验证了自公元1200年来27次强火山喷发(VEI≥5)对于青藏高原东南部河流源区气候的影响,包括1257年Samalas和1815年Tambora等强火山喷发事件。该气温重建序列与相关河流径流数据对比结果表明强火山喷发在引起高亚洲南部河流源区气温出现明显下降的同时,也可能会进一步导致水循环减缓,使得高亚洲南部河流径流量出现减少。陈友平 陈峰 张合理 胡茂 王世杰 Hadad Martín ARIEL Roig Junent Fidel ALEJANDRO 2021第四纪研究2021,41,2:12
2Risk assessment of chemical substances of safety concern generated in processed meats显示文摘This manuscript is reviewing the presence of substances of safety concern that may be generated in different types of meat products.Such substances include N-nitrosamines that can be generated under certain conditions when using nitrite as preservative,the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons generated as a consequence of particular smoking processes,heterocyclic aromatic amines generated under particular cooking conditions,compounds released from the oxidation of lipids and proteins,Maillard reaction products like acrylamide and carboxymethyl lysine,and amines that can be generated and accumulated in fermented meats.These hazardous compounds,their mechanisms of generation,risks for health and ways of preventing its presence in meat products are briefly described in this review.Monica Flores Leticia Mora Milagro Reig Fidel Toldra 2019Food Science and Human Wellness2019,8,3:7

4Epidemiology of onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy in the Mbam and Sanaga river valleys of Cameroon:impact of more than 13 years of ivermectin显示文摘Background:A high epilepsy prevalence has been reported in several onchocerciasis-endemic villages along the Mbam and Sanaga river valleys in Cameroon,including Bilomo and Kelleng.We sought to determine the prevalence of epilepsy in these two villages following more than 13 years of community-directed treatment with ivermectin(CDTI).Methods:Door-to-door surveys were performed on the entire resident population in the villages in August 2017 and January 2018.Epilepsy was diagnosed using a 2-step approach:administration of a standardized 5-item questionnaire followed by confirmation by a neurologist.Previously published diagnostic criteria for onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy(OAE)were used.Ov16 serology was done for children aged 7-10 years to assess onchocerciasis transmission.Findings were compared with previous data from these two villages.Results:A total of 1525 individuals(1321 in Bilomo and 204 in Kelleng)in 233 households were surveyed in both villages.The crude prevalence of epilepsy was 4.6%in Bilomo(2017)and 7.8%in Kelleng(2018),including 12(15.6%of cases)persons with epilepsy(PWE)with nodding seizures.The age and sex-standardized prevalence in Kelleng decreased from 13.5%in 2004 to 9.3%in 2018(P<0.001).The median age of PWE shifted from 17(IQR:12-22)years to 24(IQR:20-30)years in Bilomo(P<0.001);and slightly from 24(IQR:14-34)years to 28(IQR:21.25-36.75)years in Kelleng(P=0.112).Furthermore,47.6%of all tested children between 7 and 10 years had Ov16 antibodies.Conclusions:There is a decrease in epilepsy prevalence after 13 years and more of CDTI in both villages.The age-shift observed in PWE suggests that ivermectin may prevent OAE in younger residents.Ov16 seropositivity in children indicates ongoing onchocerciasis transmission possibly due to suboptimal control measures.Our findings support the existence of OAE in Cameroon and highlight the need to strengthen onchocerciasis elimination programs.Joseph Nelson Siewe Fodjo Godwin Tatah Earnest Njih Tabah Leonard Ngarka Leonard Njamnshi Nfor Samuel Eric Chokote Michel KMengnjo Fidele Dema Aurelien Tele Sitouok Grace Nkoro Felicien ENtone Anne-Cecile Zoung-Kanyi Bissek Cedric BChesnais Michel Boussinesq Robert Colebunders Alfred K.Njamnshi 2018Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1:3

6Hypolipidemic,antioxidant and anti-atherosclerogenic effects of aqueous extract of Zanthoxylum heitzii stem bark in diet-induced hypercholesterolemic rats显示文摘Objective:To evaluate anti-dyslipidemic,antioxidant and anti-atherosclerogenic properties of this extract in diet-induced hypercholesterolemic rat.a model of metabolic syndrome-induced atherosclerosis and associated cardiovascular diseases.Methods:Normocholeslerolemic(NC) male rats were divided into six groups(n=10) and fed a high-cholesterol(HC) diet for 30 days(5 groups),or normal rat chow(normal control group).Rats given a HC diet also received distilled water(disease control),the potent hypocholcsterolcmic agent with antiatherosclerotic activity atorvastatin(2 mg/kg,positive control),or one of the three doses of Zanthoxylum heitzii stem bark aqueous extract tested(225,300 and 375 mg/kg) concomitantly for four months.Signs of general toxicity,body temperature and weight,and water and food intake were monitored in live animals.After sacrifice,lipid profiles and oxidative stress markers were assessed in the blood and liver,aorta,and feces,and histopathological analysis of aorta was performed.Results:Plant extract prevented the elevation of aortic total cholesterol and triglycerides,and hepatic low density lipoprotein,very low density lipoprotein,and total cholesterol.Lipid peroxidation(TBARS) was decreased and aortic atherosclerotic plaque formation prevented.Conclusions:These observations strongly suggest that stem bark aqueous extract of Zanthoxylum heitzii has anti-atherosclerogenic properties,at least partly mediated by antioxidant and hypolipidemic effects.Fidele Ntchapda Kakesse Maguirgue Hamadjida Adjia Paul Faustin Seke Etet Théophile Dimo 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,5:3

8Spatio-temporal variation of soil moisture in a fixed dune at the southern edge of the Gurbantunggut Desert in Xinjiang, China显示文摘Soil moisture is critical for vegetation growth in deserts.However,detailed data regarding the soil moisture distribution in space and time in the Gurbantunggut Desert of China have not yet been reported.In this study,we conducted a series of in situ observation experiments in a fixed sand dune at the southern edge of the Gurbantunggut Desert from February 2014 to October 2016,to explore the spatio-temporal variation of soil moisture content,investigate the impact of Haloxylon ammodendron(C.A.Mey.)Bungeon soil moisture content in its root zone,and examine the factors influencing the soil moisture spatial pattern.One-way analysis of variance,least significant difference tests and correlation analysis were used to analyze the data.The results revealed that the soil moisture content exhibited annual periodicity and the temporal variation of soil moisture content throughout a year could be divided into three periods,namely,a moisturegaining period,a moisture-losing period and a moisture-stable period.According to the temporal and spatial variability,the 0–400 cm soil profile could be divided into two layers:an active layer with moderate variability and a stable layer with weak variability.The temporal variability was larger than the spatial variability in the active layer,and the mean profile soil moisture content at different slope positions displayed the trend of decreasing with increasing relative height and mainly followed the order of interdune area>west and east slopes>slope top.The mean profile soil moisture content in the root zone of dead H.ammodendron individuals was significantly higher than that in the root zones of adult and young individuals,while the soil moisture content in the root zone of adult individuals was slightly higher than that in the root zone of young individuals with no significant difference.The spatial pattern of soil moisture was attributable to the combined effects of snowfall,vegetation and soil texture,whereas the effects of rainfall and evaporation were not significant.The findings may offer a foundation for the management of sandy soil moisture and vegetation restoration in arid areas.ZHU Hai HU Shunjun YANG Jingsong Fidele KARAMAGE LI Hao FUSihua 2019Journal of Arid Land2019,11,5:3

10Hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic effects of aqueous extract of Ipomoea batatas leaves in diet-induced hypercholesterolemic rats显示文摘Objective:Ipomoea batatas(L.)Lam.is a food plant used in African traditional medicine to treat cardiovascular diseases and related conditions.We assessed the hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic properties of the aqueous extract of I.batatas leaves in a rat model of diet-induced hypercholesterolemia.Methods:Hypercholesterolemia was induced in male Wistar rats by exclusive feeding with a cholesterolenriched(1%)standard diet for four weeks.Then,rats were treated once daily(per os)with I.batatas extract at doses of 400,500 and 600 mg/kg or with atorvastatin(2 mg/kg),for four weeks.Following treatment,animals were observed for another four weeks and then sacrificed.Aortas were excised and processed for histopathological studies,and blood glucose level and lipid profile were measured.Results:Hypercholesterolemic animals experienced a 21.5%faster increase in body weight,significant increases in blood glucose and blood lipids(148.94%triglycerides,196.97%high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,773.04%low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,148.93%very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and 210.42%total cholesterol),and increases in aorta thickness and atherosclerotic plaque sizes compared to rats fed standard diet.Treatment of hypercholesterolemic rats with the extract mitigated these alterations and restored blood glucose and blood lipid levels to normocholesterolemic values.Conclusion:Our findings suggest that I.batatas leaves have hypolipidemic and anti-atherosclerogenic properties and justify their use in traditional medicine.Fidele Ntchapda Fernand C.Tchatchouang David Miaffo Barthelemy Maidadi Lorella Vecchio Rodrigue E.Talla Christian Bonabe Paul F.Seke Etet Theophile Dimo 2021Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,3:2

13Anti-onchocerca Metabolites from Cyperus articulatus:Isolation,In Vitro Activity and In Silico‘Drug-Likeness’显示文摘The aims of this investigation were to isolate active ingredients from the roots/rhizomes of Cyperus articulatus used as herbal medicine in Cameroon for the treatment of human onchocerciasis and to assess the efficacy of the metabolites on the Onchocerca worm.The antifilarial activity was evaluated in vitro on microfilariae(Mfs)and adult worms of the bovine derived Onchocerca ochengi,a close relative of Onchocerca volvulus.Cytotoxicity was assessed in vitro on monkey kidney epithelial cells.The structures of the active compounds were determined using spectroscopic methods and their drug-likeness evaluated using Lipinski parameters.Two secondary metabolites,AMJ1[containing mustakone(1)as the major component]and linoleic acid or(9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dienoic acid(2)were isolated.Both compounds were found to kill both the microfilariae and adult worms of O.ochengi in a dose dependent manner.The IC50s for AMJ1 were 15.7 lg/mL for Mfs,17.4 lg/mL for adult males and 21.9 lg/mL for adult female worms while for linoleic acid the values were,15.7 lg/mL for Mfs,31.0 lg/mL for adult males and 44.2 lg/mL for adult females.The present report provides the first ever evidence of the anti-Onchocerca efficacy of AMJ1 and linoleic acid.Thus,these secondary metabolites may provide a lead for design and development of new antifilarial agents.Jonathan Alunge Metuge Smith B.Babiaka James A.Mbah Fidele Ntie-Kang Godfred A.Ayimele Fidelis Cho-Ngwa 2014Natural Products and Bioprospecting2014,4,4:2
