| 1 | Optimization of phenol degradation by Candida tropicalis Z-04 using Plackett-Burman design and response surface methodology显示文摘Statistical experimental designs were used to optimize the process of phenol degradation by Candida tropicalis Z-04,isolated from phenol-degrading aerobic granules.The most important factors influencing phenol degradation (p<0.05),as identified by a two-level Plackett-Burman design with 11 variables,were yeast extract,phenol,inoculum size,and temperature.Steepest ascent method was undertaken to determine the optimal regions of these four significant factors.Central composite design (CCD) and response surface analysis were adopted to further investigate the mutual interactions between these variables and to identify their optimal values that would generate maximum phenol degradation.The analysis results indicated that interactions between yeast extract and temperature,phenol and temperature,inoculum size and temperature affected the response variable (phenol degradation) significantly.The predicted results showed that the maximum removal efficiency of phenol (99.10%) could be obtained under the optimum conditions of yeast extract 0.41 g/L,phenol 1.03 g/L,inoculum size 1.43% (V/V) and temperature 30.04°C.These predicted values were further verified by validation experiments.The excellent correlation between predicted and experimental values confirmed the validity and practicability of this statistical optimum strategy.This study indicated the excellent ability of C.tropicalis Z-04 in degrading high-strength phenol.Optimal conditions obtained in this experiment laid a solid foundation for further use of this microorganism in the treatment of highstrength phenol effluents. | Jiangya Zhou Xiaojuan Yu Cong Ding Zhiping Wang Qianqian Zhou Hao Pao Weimin Ca | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,1: | 48 |
| 2 | Effects of fan speed on spray deposition and drift for targeting air-assisted sprayer in pear orchard显示文摘In order to reduce the application dosage of pesticides,a targeting air-assisted(TAA)sprayer was developed and tested in this study.Fruit trees were assayed by an infrared detection system to determine if the canopy needs to be sprayed.This TAA sprayer was compared with conventional air-assisted(CAA)sprayers,and the impacts of various fan speeds(0,800 r/min,1300 r/min,and 1800 r/min)on spray deposition,coverage,and drift amount were tested.Ponceau 2R was used as tracer to measure spray deposition under each treatment.Droplet coverage and canopy deposition were best when the CAA application fan speed was increased to 1300 r/min,but at higher fan speeds,spray deposition and coverage in canopy did not increase because extra air flow blew droplets from the ground into the air.During TAA spraying,droplet sizes increased at opening and closing moments.Optimal spray effects were achieved when the auxiliary airflow velocity was increased at a fan speed of 1800 r/min.The research provides a useful reference for the design of TAA and parameters optimization method with respect to the relationship between droplets deposition into tree canopy,ground and drift in the air. | Qiu Wei Zhao Sanqin Ding Weimin Sun Chengda Lu Jiang Li Yinian Gu Jiabing | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,4: | 12 |
| 3 | Stem cell transplantation for treatment of cerebral ischemia in rats Effects of human umbilical cord blood stem cells and human neural stem cells显示文摘BACKGROUND: Exogenous neural stem cell transplantation promotes neural regeneration. However, various types of stem cells transplantation outcomes remain controversial. OBJECTIVE: To explore distribution, proliferation and differentiation of human neural stem cells (hNSCs) and human umbilical cord blood stem cells (hUCBSCs) following transplantation in ischemic brain tissue of rats, and to compare therapeutic outcomes between hNSCs and hUCBSCs. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Randomized controlled animal studies were performed at the Experimental Animal Center of Nanjing Medical University and Central Laboratory of Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University of China from September 2008 to April 2009. MATERIALS: hNSCs were harvested from brain tissue of 10-13 week old fetuses following spontaneous abortion, and hUCBSCs were collected from umbilical cord blood of full-term newborns at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University of China. hNSCs and hUCBSCs were labeled by 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) prior to transplantation. METHODS: Rat models of cerebral ischemia were established by the suture method. A total of 60 healthy male Sprague Dawley rats aged 7-9 weeks were randomly assigned to hNSC transplantation, hUCBSC transplantation and control groups. The rat models in the hNSC transplantation, hUCBSC transplantation and control groups were infused with hNSC suspension, hUCBSC suspension and saline via the caudal vein, respectively. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The distribution, proliferation and differentiation of hNSCs and hUCBSCs in ischemic brain tissue were observed using immunohistochemical methods. Neurological function in rats was assessed using the neurological severity score. RESULTS: The number of BrdU-positive cells was significantly greater in the hNSC transplantation group compared with hUCBSC transplantation group at 14 days following transplantation (P < 0.05). The number of BrdU-positive cells reached a peak at 28 days following transplantation. Nestin-positive, glial fibrillary acidic protein-positive, cyclic nucleotide 3' phosphohydrolase-positive and neuron specific enolase-positive cells were visible following transplantation. No significant difference was determined in the constituent ratio of various cells between hNSC and hUCBSC transplantation groups (P > 0.05). The neurological severity score was significantly decreased in rats at 21 days following transplantation (P < 0.05). No significant difference was detected in neurological severity score between hNSC and hUCBSC transplantation groups at various time points (P > 0.05). | 4 | Droplet size and spray pattern characteristics of PWM-based continuously variable spray显示文摘A Pulse-Width-Modulation-based(PWM-based)continuously variable sprayer was developed using a proportional regulating solenoid valve.Variable flow-rate was obtained by varying the duty cycle of the actuating signal with 24 kHz frequency.Flow-rate regulating ranges of the PWM-based continuously variable spray(i.e.the turndown ratio responding to 100%-40%duty cycle)are 7.14:1,3.57:1,and 3.70:1 for flat-fan,hollow-cone and solid-cone nozzles,respectively.The purpose of the study was to evaluate the PWM-based continuously variable spray.The method was to quantify the effects of flow-rate control on spray characteristics in terms of droplet size spectra,spray distribution patterns,and spray angle for flat-fan,hollow-cone,solid-cone nozzles.For all nozzles tested,spray distribution concentrated on the center of the spray field with the decrease of flow-rate.But the spray shape is still symmetrical.The sensitivities of the spray angles to flow-rate were 0.83,0.67,and 0.58(o)/%respectively for flat-fan,hollow-cone and solid-cone nozzles.Compared with the sensitivities of spray angle for PWM-based intermittent variable spray,they are somewhat larger.As flow-rate was reduced from the maximum(100%flow-rate)to the minimum controllable rate,the observed median diameter of spray droplets decreased by 5.4%,9.8%,and 9.9%for flat-fan,hollow-cone and solid-cone nozzles,respectively.This indicates that spray droplet size was affected slightly by flow-rate control. | Deng Wei He Xiongkui Ding Weimin | 2009 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2009,2,1: | 7 |
| 5 | Pitting corrosion of 2Cr13 stainless steel in deep-sea environment显示文摘Pitting corrosion of 2Cr13 stainless steel was investigated by deep-sea exposure test at various depths of 500 m,800 m and 1200 m in the South China Sea for 4 months.With the aid of electrochemical measurements in simulated deep-sea environments and grey relational analysis,the influence of deepsea environments on passive film and the mechanism of pitting corrosion were discussed.The results indicated that with the increase of sea depth,pitting depth of 2Cr13 stainless steel increased,which can be attributed to the change of chemical composition and the degradation of pitting resistance of passive film.Film growth was greatly retarded in the condition of low seawater temperature and low dissolved oxygen content of deep sea,resulting in an unstable and vulnerable film.Pitting depth was most influenced by hydrostatic pressure,which can increase the adsorption and penetration of Cl-ion,and promote the proliferation of point defects in passive film,leading to rapid deconstruction of protective oxides of the film.Pitting sensitivity of 2Cr13 stainless steel increased eventually with the combination of accelerated dissolution and suppressed self-healing of passive film in deep sea. | Xinhua Wang Lin Fan Kangkang Ding Likun Xu Weimin Guo Jian Hou Tigang Duan | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,5: | 6 |
| 6 | Characterizing the capability of mesoscale eddies to carry drifters in the northwest Pacific显示文摘Mesoscale eddies are common oceanic phenomena.Although many related studies have been conducted,the ability for mesoscale eddies to carry real particles remains poorly addressed.We considered the drifters as real particles to characterize the capability of mesoscale eddies to carry particles.Firstly,mesoscale eddies in the northwest Pacific(99°E-180°E,0°-66°N)were identified using sea level anomaly(SLA)data from 1993 to 2015.Secondly,three important parameters(the carrying days,the number of circles the drifter revolving around the eddy center,and the carrying distances)were calculated by colocalizing eddy data with drifters.Finally,statistical analysis and composite analysis were conducted,reflecting the capability of mesoscale eddies to carry particles.The mechanisms on the carrying capability of eddies were also discussed.Results show that(1)the motion of carried drifters reflects the upper limit of rotational speed of eddies that the drifters revolve around the eddy center by≤90°for one day in most cases;(2)the drifters tend to be carried for a longer time when their minimal distances to the eddy center measured with normalized distance are small;(3)there are two types of eddies(cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies)in different subregions of northwest Pacific,and each has a different carrying capability(on average,similar in the tropical ocean and Subtropical Countercurrent,cyclonic eddies tend to have stronger carrying capability in Southern Kuroshio Extension,and anticyclonic eddies tend to have stronger carrying capability in Northern Kuroshio Extension and Subarctic Gyre);(4)on average,the carried drifters tend to travel for a longer time around the normalized eddy radii ranging from 0.41 to 0.76;(5)the carrying days are related to the Rossby number of the eddy(in general when the Rossby number is smaller,the carrying days are longer). | WANG Huizan LIU Ding ZHANG Weimin LI Jiaxun WANG Bo | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,6: | 5 |

| 10 | Design and experimental validation of sliding knife notch-type disc opener for a no-till combine harvester cum seed drill显示文摘One major constraint in developing a combine harvester cum seed drill(CHCSD)is the limited space available for the attachment of no-till furrow openers.Investigating the straw stubble cutting and furrow opening performance of small-sized disc furrow openers is critically important for the development and the optimization of the no-till seeding assemblies.A set of down-scaled sliding knife notch-type disc opener(SKO),modified notch-type disc opener(MNO)and smooth-type disc opener(SDO),with upper size limit of 160 mm,were designed and fabricated for field testing.Experimental results show that for small-sized disc furrow openers of the same type,a larger disc diameter yields a greater furrow depth and width.For small-sized disc furrow openers with an identical diameter,SKOs yield a greater furrow depth and width than MNOs,with SDOs yielding the lowest values.The measured furrow depth and width for an SKO with diameter of 160 mm are 3.52 cm and 3.56 cm,respectively,meeting the no-tillage furrowing requirements for a CHCSD.The highest stubble cover rate of 62.5%is obtained for the SKO with diameter of 160 mm.Therefore,this opener has greater ability to remove stubble from the furrow and seeding band than the other designs.Finally,experimental results of the stubble cutting rates confirm that,for irregularly placed straw and residue,the stubble cutting rate of the SKO with diameter of 160 mm is the highest at 61.7%. | Kuan Qin Weimin Ding Fiaz Ahmad Zhichao Fang | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4: | 3 |

| 14 | Acoustic properties of closed-cell aluminum foams with different macrostructures显示文摘As structural materials, closed-cell aluminum foams possess obvious advantages in product dimension, strength and process economics compared with open cell aluminum foams. However, as a kind of structure-function integration materials, the application of closed-cell aluminum foams has been restricted greatly in acoustic fields due to the difficulty of sound wave penetration. It was reported that closed-cell foams with macrostructures have important effect on the propagation of sound waves. To date, the relationship between macrostructures and acoustic properties of commercially pure closedcell aluminum foams is ambiguous. In this work, different perforation and air gap types were designed for changing the macrostructures of the foam. Meanwhile, the effect of macrostructures on the sound absorption coefficient and sound reduction index were investigated. The results showed that the foams with half-hole exhibited excellent sound absorption and sound insulation behaviors in high frequency range(>2500 Hz). In addition, specimens with air gaps showed good sound absorption properties in low frequency compared with the foams without air gaps. | 18 | Tilting stability analysis and experiment of the 3-DOF lifting platform for hilly orchards显示文摘An orchard-lifting platform is a type of mechanical equipment to assist growers in fruit picking,fruit tree pruning,flower thinning,and other operations.In its operational processes,the tilting stability directly affects the operational safety and adaptability under complex terrain conditions,while critical tilting angle is an important criterion to evaluate the tilting stability.Based on the structure and the operating characteristics of the three degree of freedom(3-DOF)lifting platform for hilly orchards,the tilting stability was analyzed in different parked states,and the theoretical expressions of critical tilting angle were obtained;in the theoretical expressions,the influencing factors on tilting stability were determined as the parked positionβ1,the manned worktable rotary positionβ2,the lifting height h,and the load m.Based on the multi-body dynamics principle,the tilting stability simulation was carried out.The relative error of tilting angles was approximately 4.6%between simulation and tilting verification experiment,which indicated that the results of tilting stability simulation were reliable.Therefore,the multi-body dynamics simulation was used for further clarifying the influencing factors on tilting stability.A virtual orthogonal test was designed,and the results showed that critical tilting angle ranged from 20°to 44°when the factors were at different values,which indicated that the 3-DOF lifting platform for hilly orchards had a high tilting stability performance and could adapt to the operating conditions of hills with slope angles from 5°to 20°.The results of the range analysis and ANOVA showed that the influence intensity of factors on tilting stability wasβ1>h>m>β2;at the same time,β1,h,and m exerted significant effect on tilting stability.The tilting stability first decreased and then either increased or decreased with the increasing lifting height;it gradually decreased with the increasing load.It also showed that the position of the manned worktable along the slope down always had the lowest tilting stability.This research can provide a theoretical basis and reference for the analysis of tilting stability of the lifting machinery for hilly orchards. | Zhenhua Duan Wei Qiu Weimin Ding Yande Liu Yuping Ouyang Liang Huang | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 1 |
