Effect of front guide nozzle shape on the flow characteristics in an augmentation channel of a direct drive turbine for wave power generation显示文摘There is an increasing interest in cross flow turbines(also known as Banki turbines) for small and low head applications because of their simple structure as well as low capital and maintenance costs. The present work aims at implementing the direct drive turbine(DDT) of cross flow type for wave power generation.A numerical wave tank was used to simulate the waves and after obtaining the desired wave properties;the augmentation channel plus the front guide nozzle and rear chamber were integrated to the numerical wave tank. The waves in the numerical wave tank were generated by a piston type wave maker which was located at the wave tank inlet. The inlet which was modeled as a plate wall moved sinusoidally with the general function x = asinω t.The augmentation channel consisted of a front nozzle, rear nozzle and an internal fluid region which represented the turbine housing. The front and rear nozzles were geometrically the same.Three different front guide nozzle configurations were studied:a standard guide nozzle which was originally attached to the augmentation channel and two other front guide nozzles of different geometries. The purpose of this study is to observe how the front guide nozzle shape influences the flow downstream, mainly in the augmenta-tion channel, water power and the first stage energy conversion. The analysis was performed using a commercial CFD code ANSYS-CFX.The results of the flow in the augmentation channel for the three front guide nozzles are presented in this paper. | Deepak PRASAD Mohammed Asid ZULLAH Mohammed Rafiuddin AHMED Young-Ho LEE | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 4
Performance analysis of a wave energy converter using numerical simulation technique显示文摘A general purpose viscous flow solver Ansys CFX was used to study a Savonius type wave energy converter in a 3D numerical viscous wave tank. This paper presents the results of a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis of the effect of blade configuration on the performance of two Savonius rotors for wave energy extraction.A piston-type wave generator was incorporated in the computational domain to generate the desired incident waves.A complete OWC system with a 3-bladed Savonius rotor was modeled in a three dimensional numerical wave tank and the hydrodynamic conversion efficiency was estimated. The flow over the rotors was assumed to be two-dimensional(2D),viscous,turbulent and unsteady. The CFX code was used with a solver of the coupled conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy, with an implicit time scheme and with the adoption of the hexahedral mesh and the moving mesh techniques in areas of moving surfaces.Turbulence was modeled with the k-e model. The results indicated that the developed models are suitable to analyze the water flows both in the chamber and in the turbine. For the turbine, the numerical results of pressure and torque were compared for the two cases. | Mohammed Asid ZULLAH Deepak PRASAD Mohammed Rafiuddin AHMED Young-Ho LEE | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,1: | 3
Ayurvedic concept of Shatkriyakala:a traditional knowledge of cancer pathogenesis and therapy显示文摘The term Kriyakala refers to the recognition of the stage of a disease's progress, which helps to determine appropriate measure to correct the imbalance in Doshas(biological factors). It is a compound expression, comprised of Kriya and Kala, where Kriya means the choice to treatment(medicine, food and daily-routine) used to improve the disturbance in Doshas, and Kala refers to the stage of progress of a disease.Sushruta,an ancient Indian surgeon, has described the concept of Kriyakala in Varnaprashnadhyaya,an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text, which seeks to explain the incidence of Varnas in terms of Doshic disturbances.Varna,in modern parlance, may be described as an inflammatory process that may lead ulceration and chronic inflammation, promoting all stages of carcinogenesis.Abnormal interactions between Prakriti(genotype) and environmental factors vitiate the Doshas and impair immunity, which can lead to aberrant cell growth and cancer. Moreover, the interaction between vitiated Doshas and weak Dhatus(body tissues) manifests as cancers of a specific organ.Shatkriyakala(six stages of progress of a disease),on the other hand, provides a framework to assess the cancer and its pathogenesis in different stages.According to Ayurvedic concepts, all cancer therapies treat the affected tissues indirectly by eliminating vitiated Doshas, rejuvenating Dhatus and restoring immunity in cancer patients. The present review describes the six stages of Shatkhyakala in detail, with an emphasis on research areas to validate the concept of Shatkhyakala. This traditional knowledge can be utilized with modern technologies to detect predisposition for cancer or diagnose cancer in its early stages. | Ashutosh Chauhan Deepak Kumar Semwal Satyendra Prasad Mishra Ruchi Badoni Semwal | 2017 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2: | 3

Effect of plasma treatment on the seed germination and seedling growth of radish(Raphanus sativus)显示文摘The effect on the germination and seedling growth of radish(Raphanus sativus)seeds were examined employing a dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)at atmospheric pressure and room temperature for various treatment time.DBD plasma using argon gas of flow rate 21 m^(-1)was employed in this study.Radish seeds were treated with DBD plasma for 1-5 min, respectively.Germination characteristics, seedling growth parameters, the contact angle of the seed coat, water uptake capacity, mass loss, the temperature of the seeds, chlorophyll, and carotenoid contents of the seedlings were measured before and after the DBD plasma treatments.Plasma treatment of radish seeds significantly increased germination-related characters, including germination percentage, fresh and dry weight, vigor index, and total carotenoids contents. However, the cumulative production rate was found to be decreased. Results from the experiment indicate an acceleration in the water uptake of the radish seeds and make the seed surface hydrophilic by plasma treatment.Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that etching effects on the seed coat occurred after the argon plasma treatments, which affected the wettability of the radish seed. The experimental findings showed that seeds being treated by DBD plasma for 2 and 3 min had a positive effect on the germination and seedling growth of radish. | Rajesh Prakash GURAGAIN Hom Bahadur BANIYA Santosh DHUNGANA Ganesh Kuwar CHHETRI Binita SEDHAI Niroj BASNET Aavash SHAKYA Bishnu Prasad PANDEY Suman Prakash PRADHAN Ujjwal Man JOSHI Deepak Prasad SUBEDI | 2022 | Plasma Science and Technology2022,24,1: | 0
Numerical simulation of hydrogen arcjet thruster with coupled sheath model显示文摘In the present work,a complete 2D chemical and thermal non-equilibrium numerical model coupled with a relatively simple sheath model is developed for hydrogen arcjet thruster.Conduction heat transfer in the anode wall is also included in the model. The operating voltages predicted by the model are compared with those in the literature and are found to be in close agreement.Power distributions for the various operating conditions are obtained, anode radiation loss primarily determines the thruster efficiency.Higher thruster efficiency was found to be associated with longer arc length. At cathode ion diffusion contribution dominates except at low input current where thermo-field electron current is dominant. | Deepak AKHARE Hari Prasad NANDYALA Jayachandran THANKAPPAN Amit KUMAR | 2022 | Plasma Science and Technology2022,24,2: | 0

Evaluation of Dielectric Properties of CCTO-BT/Epoxy Composites for Electronic Applications显示文摘In the current study, the calcium copper titanate(CCTO)/epoxy,barium titanate(BT)/epoxy and CCTO-BT/epoxy composite samples with variable volume fractions of CCTO and BT are fabricated using hand lay-up and compression moulding process. The composite samples are characterized for the frequency dependence on dielectric properties, conductivity, impedance spectroscopy and electrical modulus.X-ray diffraction(XRD)representation of CCTO-BT/epoxy composite samples confirmed the presence of both CCTO and BT ceramic samples separately. The dielectric characteristics of hybrid CCTO-BT/epoxy composite samples with CCTO∶BT ratio of 40∶60, 60∶40,and 50∶50 was found relatively better than those of single ceramic filler reinforced epoxy composites. AC conductivity analysis shows improvement in the results of hybrid filler-filled CCTO-BT/epoxy composites in comparison with single filler-filled epoxy composite.50∶50 CCTO-BT/epoxy composite shows the best AC conductivity value of~ 2.2 ×10^(-5) ohm^(-1)·m^(-1) at a higher frequency of 1MHz. The impedance analysis confirms the higher insulating properties for hybrid 40∶60 and 60∶40 CCTO-BT/epoxy composites with respect to the single and other hybrid ceramic epoxy composites. The analysis suggests the hybrid CCTO-BT/epoxy composites to be adopted as a potential dielectric material for energy storage devices and other electronic applications. | Swagatika Mishra Punyapriya Mishra Punyatoya Mishra Dinesh Kumar Mishra Krushna Prasad Shadangi Deepak Kumar Mohapatra | 2024 | Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology(New Series)2024,31,1: | 0
Fixed Point Theorems in Relational Metric Spaces with an Application to Boundary Value Problems显示文摘In this paper,we establish fixed point theorems for generalized nonlinear contractive mappings using the concept of w-distance in relational metric spaces. Thus we generalize the recent results of Senapati and Dey[J.Fixed Point Theory Appl.19,2945-2961(2017)]and many other important results relevant to this literature. In order to revel the usefulness of such investigations,an application to first order periodic boundary value problem are given. Moreover,we furnish a non-trivial example to demonstrate the validity of our generalization over previous existing results. | PRASAD Gopi KHANTWAL Deepak | 2021 | Journal of Partial Differential Equations2021,34,1: | 0
Three-Dimensional Distance-Error-Correction-Based Hop Localization Algorithm for IoT Devices显示文摘The Internet of Things(IoT)is envisioned as a network of various wireless sensor nodes communicating with each other to offer state-of-the-art solutions to real-time problems. These networks of wireless sensors monitor the physical environment and report the collected data to the base station, allowing for smarter decisions.Localization in wireless sensor networks is to localize a sensor node in a two-dimensional plane. However,in some application areas, such as various surveillances, underwater monitoring systems, and various environmental monitoring applications, wireless sensors are deployed in a three-dimensional plane.Recently,localization-based applications have emerged as one of the most promising services related to IoT.In this paper,we propose a novel distributed range-free algorithm for node localization in wireless sensor networks. The proposed three-dimensional hop localization algorithm is based on the distance error correction factor. In this algorithm, the error decreases with the localization process. The distance correction factor is used at various stages of the localization process, which ultimately mitigates the error. We simulated the proposed algorithm using MATLAB and verified the accuracy of the algorithm. The simulation results are compared with some of the well-known existing algorithms in the literature. The results show that the proposed three-dimensional error-correctionbased algorithm performs better than existing algorithms. | Deepak Prashar Gyanendra Prasad Joshi Sudan Jha Eunmok Yang Kwang Chul Son | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,2: | 0
Co-positivity of anti-dengue virus and anti-Japanese encephalitis virus IgM in endemic area:co-infection or cross reactivity?显示文摘Objective:To report high co-positivity of anti-dengue virus(DV)and anti-Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV)IgM in an area endemic for both the viruses and to discuss the possibilities of coinfection. Methods:Serum samples from the patients who presented with fever, suspected central nervous system infection and thrombocytopenia, were tested for anti-DV IgM and antiJEV IgM antibodies.Conventional reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was done for detection of DV RNA and JEV RNA.Results:Of 1 410 patient sera tested for anti-DV and antiJEV antibodies,129(9.14%)were co-positive for both. This co-positivity was observed only in those months when anli-JEV IgM positivily was high.Tilers of both anli-DV IgM and anti-JEV IgM were high in most of the co-positive eases.Among these 129 co-positive cases,76 were lesled by conventional reverse Iranscriplase polymerase chain reaction for both flaviviruses,of which eight cases were co-positive for DV and JEV.Conclusions:Co-infection with more than one fluvivirus species can occur in hyperendemic areas. | Kaleshwar Prasad Singh Gitika Mishra Parul Jain Nidhi Pandey Rachna Nagar Shikha Gupta Shantanu Prakash Om Prakash Danish Nasar Khan Sakshi Shrivastav Desh Deepak Singh Amita Jain | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,2: | 0
Optimization of AWJM Process Parameters on 3D-Printed Onyx-Glass Fiber Hybrid Composite显示文摘Compared with conventional manufacturing methods, the additive manufacturing technique enhances mechanical properties. The present investigation of additive manufacturing technique is focused on delamination studies of Onyx-Glass Fiber Hybrid Polymer Composite(OGFHPC) along with surface roughness properties during machining(drilling) of composites through abrasive water jet machining(AWJM). However, delamination is a major issue during machining of OGFHPC. In order to overcome these drawbacks, the fabrication of OGFHPC was carried out using fused deposition modeling(FDM) technology which is an additive manufacturing method with Mark forged Mark Two 3D-composite printer. The machinability studies were conducted for drilling operation through AWJM process with different abrasive mass flow rates, drilling diameters and traverse speeds. These drilling machinability process parameters were optimized through the design of experiments-Taguchi analysis followed by the analysis of variance(ANOVA) and validated through the Harmony Search Algorithm(HSA), Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA) and Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm(GWO). It was observed that minimum delamination and surface roughness of OGFHPC were optimized for AWJM at abrasive mass flow rates(450 g/min), drilling diameters(12 mm) and traverse speed rate(30 mm/min). | Dharmalingam G Arun Prasad M Deepak Panghal Sachin Salunkhe Siva kumar M Rathinasuriyan C | 2023 | Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology(New Series)2023,30,2: | 0
