| 2 | Planetary Gear Profile Modification Design Based on Load Sharing Modelling显示文摘In order to satisfy the increasing demand on high performance planetary transmissions, an important line of research is focused on the understanding of some of the underlying phenomena involved in this mechanical system. Through the development of models capable of reproduce the system behavior, research in this area contributes to improve gear transmission insight, helping developing better maintenance practices and more efficient design processes. A planetary gear model used for the design of profile modifications ratio based on the levelling of the load sharing ratio is presented. The gear profile geometry definition, following a vectorial approach that mimics the real cutting process of gears, is thoroughly described. Teeth undercutting and hypotrochoid definition are implicitly considered, and a procedure for the incorporation of a rounding arc at the tooth tip in order to deal with corner contacts is described. A procedure for the modeling of profile deviations is presented, which can be used for the introduction of both manufacturing errors and designed profile modifications. An easy and flexible implementation of the profile deviation within the planetary model is accomplished based on the geometric overlapping. The contact force calculation and dynamic implementation used in the model are also introduced, and parameters from a real transmission for agricultural applications are presented for the application example. A set of reliefs is designed based on the levelling of the load sharing ratio for the example transmission, and finally some other important dynamic factors of the transmission are analyzed to assess the changes in the dynamic behavior with respect to the non-modified case. | 4 | Mobility of Arsenic and Heavy Metals in a Sandy-Loam Textured and Carbonated Soil显示文摘The continued effect of the pyrite-tailing oxidation on the mobility of arsenic, lead, zinc, cadmium, and copper was studied in a carbonated soil under natural conditions, with the experimental plot preserved with a layer of tailing covering the soil during three years. The experimental area is located in Southern Spain and was affected by a pyrite-mine spill. The climate in the area is typically Mediterranean, which determines the rate of soil alteration and element mobility. The intense alteration processes that occurred in the soil during three years caused important changes in its morphology and a strong degradation of the main soil properties. In this period, lead concentrated in the first 5 mm of the soil, with concentrations higher than 1500 mg kg?1, mainly associated to the neoformation of plumbojarosite. Arsenic was partially leached from the first 5 mm and mainly concentrated between 5–10 mm in the soil, with maximum values of 1239 mg kg-1; the retention of arsenates was related to the neoformation of iron hydroxysulfates (jarosite, schwertmannite) and oxyhydroxides (goethite, ferrihydrite), both with a variable degree of crystallinity. The mobility of Zn, Cd, and Cu was highly affected by pH, producing a stronger leaching in depth; their retention was related to the forms of precipitated aluminium and, in the case of Cu, also to the neoformation of hydroxysulfate. | I. | 5 | A one-dimensional polynomial chaos method in CFD–Based uncertainty quantification for ship hydrodynamic performance显示文摘A one-dimensional non-intrusive Polynomial Chaos(PC)method is applied in Uncertainty Quantification(UQ)studies for CFD–based ship performances simulations.The uncertainty properties of Expected Value(EV)and Standard Deviation(SD)are evaluated by solving the PC coefficients from a linear system of algebraic equations.The one-dimensional PC with the Legendre polynomials is applied to:(1)stochastic input domain and(2)Cumulative Distribution Function(CDF)image domain,allowing for more flexibility.The PC method is validated with the Monte-Carlo benchmark results in several high-fidelity,CFD-based,ship UQ problems,evaluating the geometrical,operational and environmental uncertainties for the Delft Catamaran 372.Convergence is studied versus PC order P for both EV and SD,showing that high order PC is not necessary for present applications.Comparison is carried out for PC with/without the least square minimization when solving the PC coefficients.The least square minimization,using larger number of CFD samples,is recommended for current test cases.The study shows the potentials of PC method in Robust Design Optimization(RDO)and Reliability-Based Design Optimization(RBDO)of ship hydrodynamic performances. | 贺伟 DIEZ Matteo CAMPANA Emilio Fortunato STERN Frederick 邹早建 | 2013 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2013,25,5: | 5 |
| 6 | Less common etiologies of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency显示文摘Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency(EPI), an important cause of maldigestion and malabsorption, results from primary pancreatic diseases or secondarily impaired exocrine pancreatic function. Besides cystic fibrosis and chronic pancreatitis, the most common etiologies of EPI, other causes of EPI include unresectable pancreatic cancer, metabolic diseases(diabetes); impaired hormonal stimulation of exocrine pancreatic secretion by cholecystokinin(CCK); celiac or inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) due to loss of intestinal brush border proteins; and gastrointestinal surgery(asynchrony between motor and secretory functions, impaired enteropancreatic feedback, and inadequate mixing of pancreatic secretions with food). This paper reviews such conditions that have less straightforward associations with EPI and examines the role of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy(PERT). Relevant literature was identified by database searches. Most patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer develop EPI(66%-92%). EPI occurs in patients with type 1(26%-57%) or type 2 diabetes(20%-36%) and is typically mild to moderate; by definition, all patients with type 3 c(pancreatogenic) diabetes have EPI. EPI occurs in untreated celiac disease(4%-80%), but typically resolves on a gluten-free diet. EPI manifests in patients with IBD(14%-74%) and up to 100% of gastrointestinal surgery patients(47%-100%; dependent on surgical site). With the paucity of published studies on PERT use for these conditions, recommendations for or against PERT use remain ambiguous. | 7 | Morphological Characterization and Hydrodynamic Behavior of Shortfin Mako Shark(Isurus oxyrinchus)Dorsal Fin Denticles显示文摘The shortfin mako shark(Isurus oxyrinchus)is one of the fastest marine fishes,reaching speeds of up to 70 km·h^-1.Their speed is related to the skin surface design composed of dermal denticles.Denticles vary in size and shape according to placement on the body and minimize turbulence around the body.The objective of this study is to analyze the interaction between seawater flow and denticles on the dorsal fin.High-resolution microscopy(scanning electron microscopy and confocal microscopy)were used to measure defined parts of the dermal denticles.These measurements,along with ratios based on length-to-width define three morphologies(rounded,semi-rounded,long)that were 3D reconstructed.Computational fluid dynamics simulated fluid passage over reconstructed denticles and describe hy-drodynamic efficiency under different conditions.An increase in angle of inclination produced a relevant increase in the drag coefficient,especially for high velocity inlets.The lowest drag coefficient values were found in long and semi-rounded,followed by rounded mor-phologies.The hydrodynamic behavior of shark skin demonstrates a relation to the morphological characteristics of dermal denticles on the dorsal fin.It is concluded that the best hydroefficiency relies on the rounded morphology and may serve to design hydrodynamically efficient surfaces or manmade assemblies. | Fernandez-Waid Patricia Diez Guzman Bidaguren Inigo Izagirre Urtzi Blanco Jesus Maria Soto Manu | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,4: | 3 |

| 9 | Pneumo-CT assessing response to neoadjuvant therapy in esophageal cancer: Imaging-pathological correlation显示文摘Pneumo-computed tomography (PnCT) is a technique primarily developed and used to study stenotic lesions of the esophagus, gastroesophageal junction and stom-ach for pre-surgical planning. It helps to define both upper and lower borders of neoplasms located in the aforementioned areas. It achieves maximum lumen distension with CO2 highlighting thickened areas of the esophageal wall, thus allowing an accurate quantifica-tion of their extents. Although there are other alterna-tives for distension (oral contrast agents, water and ef-fervescent granules), they may be suboptimal. Patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer have a dismal prognosis despite surgical resection. Therefore, neo-adjuvant treatment strategies using radiation therapy and chemotherapy were developed to improve sur-vival. Neoadjuvant therapy improves esophageal tumor prognosis in a substantial proportion of patients, and the use of imaging techniques is mandatory to detect their response. PnCT combined with virtual endoscopy and multiplanar reconstruction enhances morphologic details in esophageal cancer, and thus would allow animproved assessment of response to neoadjuvant treat-ment. Therefore, more information could be provided to assess the efficacy of pre-surgical treatment. | 10 | Fast preparation route to high-performances textured Sr-doped Ca_3Co_4O_9 thermoelectric materials through precursor powder modification显示文摘This work presents a short and very efficient method to produce high performance textured Ca_3Co_4O_9 thermoelectric materials through initial powders modification. Microstructure has shown good grain orientation, and low porosity while slightly lower grain sizes were obtained in samples prepared from attrition milled powders. All samples show the high density of around 96% of the theoretical value.These similar characteristics are reflected in, approximately,the same electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient values for both types of samples. However, in spite of similar power factor(PF) at low temperatures, it is slightly higher at high temperature for the attrition milled samples. On the other hand, the processing time reduction(from 38 to 2 h) when using attrition milled precursors, leads to lower mechanical properties in these samples. | 12 | Mercury uptake and effects on growth in Jatropha curcas显示文摘The use of metal-accumulating plants for the phytoremediation of contaminated soils is gaining more attention. Mercury(Hg)-contaminated soils from historical gold mines represent a potential risk to human health and the environment. Therefore, Jatropha curcas plant, that has shown its tolerance to these environments, is a species of particular interest to implement phytoremediation techniques in gold mining sites. In this work, the behavior of J. curcas was assessed in different hydroponic cultures fortified with Hg at concentrations of 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 μg Hg/mL(T5, T10, T20, T40 and T80, respectively). After exposure,plant growth, net photosynthesis, leaf area, and Hg accumulation were determined and variables such as net Hg uptake, effective Hg accumulation, translocation and bioaccumulation factors were calculated. Accumulation of Hg in root and leaf tissues increased with respect to the Hg concentrations in the hydroponic culture, with statistically significant differences(p < 0.05) among treatments. Moreover, Hg concentration in roots was 7 and 12-fold higher in average than in plant leaves and shoots, respectively. Many effects were found in the development of plants, especially related with loss of biomass and leaf area,with significant growth inhibition related to control values(> 50% with treatment T5).Moreover, percentage of inhibition was even higher(> 60%) with same treatment for net photosynthesis.
