1Special Section:SARS-CoV-2 Preliminary evidence from a multicenter prospective observational study of the safety and efficacy of chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19显示文摘Effective therapies are urgently needed for the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.Chloroquine has been proved to have antiviral effect against coronavirus in vitro.In this study,we aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of chloroquine with different doses in COVID-19.In this multicenter prospective observational study,we enrolled patients older than 18 years old with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection excluding critical cases from 12 hospitals in Guangdong and Hubei Provinces.Eligible patients received chloroquinephosphate s00 mg,orally,once(half dose)or twice(full dose)daily.Patients treated with non-chloroquine therapy were included as historical controls.The primary endpoint is the time to undetectable viral RNA.Secondary outcomes include the proportion of patients with undetectable viral RNA by day 10 and 14,hospitalization time,duration of fever,and adverse events.A total of 197 patients completed chloroquine treatment,and 176patients were included as historical controls.The median time to achieve an undetectable viral RNA was shorter in chloroquine than in non-chloroquine(absolute difference in medians-6.0 days;95%CI-6.0 to—4.0).The duration of fever is shorter in chloroquine(geometric mean ratio 0.6;95%CIO.5 to 0.8).No serious adverse events were observed in the chloroquine group.Patients treated with half dose experienced lower rate of adverse events than with full dose.Although randomized trials are needed for further evaluation,this study provides evidence for safety and efficacy of chloroquine in COVID-19 and suggests that chloroquine can be a cost-effective therapy for combating the COVID-19 pandemic.Mingxing Huang Man Li Fei Xiao Pengfei Pang Jiabi Liang Tiantian Tang Shaoxuan Liu Binghui Chen Jingxian Shu Yingying You Yang Li Meiwen Tang Jianhui Zhou Guanmin Jiang Jingfen Xiang Wenxin Hong Songmei He Zhaoqin Wang Jianhua Feng Changqing Lin Yinong Ye Zhilong Wu Yaocai Li Bei Zhong Ruilin Sun Zhongsi Hong Jing Liu Huili Chen Xiaohua Wang Zhonghe Li Duanqing Pei Lin Tian Jinyu Xia Shanping Jiang Nanshan Zhong Hong Shan 2020National Science Review2020,7,9:20
2Study on stabilities and electrochemical behavior of V(V) electrolyte with acid additives for vanadium redox flow battery显示文摘Several acid compounds have been employed as additives of the V(V) electrolyte for vanadium redox flow battery(VRB) to improve its stability and electrochemical activity. Stability of the V(V) electrolyte with and without additives was investigated with ex-situ heating/cooling treatment at a wide temperature range of-5 ?C to 60 ?C. It was observed that methanesulfonic acid, boric acid, hydrochloric acid, trifluoroacetic acid,polyacrylic acid, oxalic acid, methacrylic acid and phosphotungstic acid could improve the stability of the V(V) electrolyte at a certain range of temperature. Their electrochemical behaviors in the V(V) electrolyte were further studied by cyclic voltammetry(CV), steady state polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). 3Climatology of tropical cyclone tornadoes in China from 2006 to 2018显示文摘We surveyed the occurrence of tropical cyclone(TC) tornadoes in China from 2006 to 2018. There were 64 cataloged TC tornadoes, with an average of five per year. About one-third of the landfalling TCs in China were tornadic. Consistent with previous studies, TC tornadoes preferentially formed in the afternoon shortly before and within about 36 h after landfall of the TCs. These tornadoes mainly occurred in coastal areas with relatively flat terrains. The maximum number of TC tornadoes occurred in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces. Most of the TC tornadoes were spawned within 500 km of the TC center. Two notable characteristics were found:(1) TC tornadoes in China mainly occurred in the northeast quadrant(Earth-relative coordinates) rather than the right-front quadrant(TC motion-relative coordinates) of the parent TC circulation;and(2) most tornadoes were produced by TCs with a relatively weak intensity(tropical depressions/storms), in contrast with the United States where most tornadoes are associated with stronger TCs. Further analyses showed that TC tornadoes in China tend to be spawned in an environment with large low-level storm relative helicity and large convective available potential energy taking entrainment effects into account. TC tornadoes were particularly active in 2018, with 24 reported tornadoes accounting for 37.5% of the total surveyed samples. 4Bioaugmentation with a pyridine-degrading bacterium in a membrane bioreactor treating pharmaceutical wastewater显示文摘The bacterial strain Paracoccus denitrificans W12,which could utilize pyridine as its sole source of carbon and nitrogen,was added into a membrane bioreactor(MBR)to enhance the treatment of a pharmaceutical wastewater.The treatment efciencies investigated showed that the removal of chemical oxygen demand,total nitrogen,and total phosphorus were similar between bioaugmented and non-bioaugmented MBRs,however,significant removal of pyridine was obtained in the bioaugmented reactor.When the hydraulic retention time was 60 hr and the influent concentration of pyridine was 250–500 mg/L,the mean efuent concentration of pyridine without adding W12 was 57.2 mg/L,while the pyridine was degraded to an average of 10.2 mg/L with addition of W12.The bacterial community structure of activated sludge during the bioaugmented treatment was analyzed using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(PCR-DGGE).The results showed that the W12 inoculum reversed the decline of microbial community diversity,however,the similarity between bacterial community structure of the original sludge and that of the sludge after bioaugmentation decreased steadily during the wastewater treatment.Sequencing of the DNA recovered from DGGE gel indicated that Flavobacteriaceae sp.,Sphingobium sp.,Comamonas sp.,and Hyphomicrobium sp.were the dominant organisms in time sequence in the bacterial community in the bioaugmented MBR.This implied that the bioaugmentation was afected by the adjustment of whole bacterial community structure in the inhospitable environment,rather than being due solely to the degradation performance of the bacterium added.Donghui Wen Jing Zhang Ruilin Xiong Rui Liu Lujun Chen 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,11:9
5Cancer incidence and mortality in Guangdong province,2012显示文摘Objective: To estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province by analyzing the cancer data of selected population-based cancer registries in Guangdong province in 2012.Methods: Eight of nine population-based cancer registries submitted cancer data to the Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention(Guangdong CDC), whose data met the data quality criteria were included for analysis. The statistics of selected registries, stratified by areas, gender, age and cancer types, were used to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality in 2012 in Guangdong province according to the population data in Guangdong province. Segi's population and the national census population in 2000 were used for calculating the age-standardized rates(ASR). Results: A total of 15,084,942 people, accounted for 17.47% of all population in Guangdong province, were covered in 8 selected population-based cancer registries in 2012. The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and the percentage of death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 72.84% and 0.87%, respectively, and the mortality/incidence(M/I) ratio was 0.56. It was estimated that there were 211,300 new cancer cases and 117,300 cancer deaths. The incidence crude rate(CR), the ASR by Chinese standard population(ASRC) and by world standard population(ASRW), and the accumulated rate(AR)(0-74 years) were 250.20/100,000(265.39/100,000 in males, 234.29/100,000 in females), 207.04/100,000, 201.34/100,000 and 22.91%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The incidence CR and ASRC were 267.25/100,000 and 221.43/100,000 in urban areas, and 215.51/100,000 and 178.77/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The death CR, ASRC, ASRW and AR(0-74 years) were 148.44/100,000(190.95/100,000 in males, 105.06/100,000 in females), 103.73/100,000, 102.44/100,000 and 11.68%, respectively, in Guangdong province in 2012. The death CR and ASRC were 164.57/100,000 and 105.46/100,000 in urban areas, and 124.63/100,000 and 99.97/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. Top 5 cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and nasopharyngeal cancers(NPC), and top 5 death cancers were lung cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, and NPC in Guangdong province in 2012.Conclusions: Lung cancer, liver cancer, female breast cancer, colon cancer and NPC were the major economic cancer burdens and health concerns in Guangdong province in 2012. 6Numerical study on the restriction speed of train passing curved rail in cross wind显示文摘The results of numerical investigations of aerodynamic forces and moment coefficients of flow passing a simplified train geometry under different wind speeds are summarized. To compute numerically the different coefficients, the three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, combined with the k-ε turbulence model, were solved using finite volume technique. The pres-sure-velocity fields were coupled using the SIMPLE algorithm. At each iteration the pressure correction was obtained by solving a velocity divergence-derived Poisson-like equation. With the computed aerodynamic forces, the formula of the restriction speed at which the train passed curved rail in cross wind was deduced to analyse the influences of aerodynamic forces on the restriction speed. Results of numerical investigations showed that aerodynamic lift and overturn moment increased more and more rapidly with train speed and wind speed. The enhancement trends showed nonlinear phenomena and enhanced risk in the course of train movement. When the train travels at a high speed and encounters a huge cross wind, the influence involved by nonlinear risk increment will extremely impair safety of train. The following conclusion can also be drawn: The effect of aerodynamic lift makes restriction speed reduce, however, the influences of aerodynamic drag to the limit train speed rest on the direction of wind flow. 7Recent developments in electrocatalysts and future prospects for oxygen reduction reaction in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells显示文摘The main difficulty in the extensive commercial use of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)is the use of noble metals such as Pt-based electrocatalyst at the cathode, which is essential to ease the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) in fuel cells(FCs). To eliminate the high loading of Pt-based electrocatalysts to minimize the cost, extensive study has been carried out over the previous decades on the non-noble metal catalysts. Development in enhancing the ORR performance of FCs is mainly due to the doped carbon materials, Fe and Co-based electrocatalysts, these materials could be considered as probable substitutes for Pt-based catalysts. But the stability of these non-noble metal electrocatalysts is low and the durability of these metals remains unclear. The three basic reasons of instability are:(i) oxidative occurrence by H_2O_2,(ii) leakage of the metal site and(iii) protonation by probable anion adsorption of the active site. Whereas leakage of the metal site has been almost solved, more work is required to understand and avoid losses from oxidative attack and protonation. The ORR performance such as stability tests are usually run at low current densities and the lifetime is much shorter than desired need. Therefore,improvement in the ORR activity and stability are the key issues of the non-noble metal electrocatalyst.Based on the consequences obtained in this area, numerous future research directions are projected and discussed in this paper. 8Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses uncover the molecular basis of high nitrogen-use efficiency in the wheat cultivar Kenong 9204显示文摘Studying the regulatory mechanisms that drive nitrogen-use efficiency(NUE)in crops is important for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.In this study,we generated a high-quality genome assembly for the high-NUE wheat cultivar Kenong 9204 and systematically analyzed genes related to nitrogen uptake and metabolism.By comparative analyses,we found that the high-affinity nitrate transporter gene family had expanded in Triticeae.Further studies showed that subsequent functional differentiation endowed the expanded family members with saline inducibility,providing a genetic basis for improving the adaptability of wheat to nitrogen deficiency in various habitats.To explore the genetic and molecular mechanisms of high NUE,we compared genomic and transcriptomic data from the high-NUE cultivar Kenong 9204(KN9204)and the low-NUE cultivar Jing 411 and quantified their nitrogen accumulation under high-and low-nitrogen conditions.Compared with Jing 411,KN9204 absorbed significantly more nitrogen at the reproductive stage after shooting and accumulated it in the shoots and seeds.Transcriptome data analysis revealed that nitrogen deficiency clearly suppressed the expression of genes related to cell division in the young spike of Jing 411,whereas this suppression of gene expression was much lower in KN9204.In addition,KN9204 maintained relatively high expression of NPF genes for a longer time than Jing 411 during seed maturity.Physiological and transcriptome data revealed that KN9204 was more tolerant of nitrogen deficiency than Jing 411,especially at the reproductive stage.The high NUE of KN9204 is an integrated effect controlled at different levels.Taken together,our data provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms of NUE and important gene resources for improving wheat cultivars with a higher NUE trait.Xiaoli Shi Fa Cui Xinyin Han Yilin He Long Zhao Na Zhang Hao Zhang Haidong Zhu Zhexin Liu Bin Ma Shusong Zheng Wei Zhang Jiajia Liu Xiaoli Fan Yaoqi Si Shuiquan Tian Jianqing Niu Huilan Wu Xuemei Liu Zhuo Chen Deyuan Meng Xiaoyan Wang Liqiang Song Lijing Sun Jie Han Hui Zhao Jun Ji Zhiguo Wang Xiaoyu He Ruilin Li Xuebin Chi Chengzhi Liang Beifang Niu Jun Xiao Junming Li Hong-Qing Ling 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,9:6
9Preparation and characterization of a specialized lunar regolith simulant for use in lunar low gravity simulation显示文摘Lunar in-situ resource utilization(ISRU)has been put on the agenda by many countries.Due to the special material nature and low gravity environment,the lunar regolith demonstrates significantly different behavior from terrestrial geomaterials.However,the systematic understanding of its geotechnical behavior is now seriously restricted by the scarcity of lunar regolith and the difficulty in simulating lunar gravity.A new lunar regolith simulant,termed as China University of Mining and Technology Number One(CUMT-1),has been developed to recover properties of the lunar regolith and simulate the lunar gravity by adopting the recently advanced geotechnical magnetic-similitude-gravity model testing(GMMT)method.The CUMT-1 simulant was prepared by reproducing the in-situ formation and fragmentation of the lunar matrix,which plays a key role in the irregular particle morphology.The mineralogical compositions,particle morphology and gradation,specific gravity,bulk density,void ratio,shear strength,and compressibility were determined.After quantifying the magnetization and magnetic-similitude-gravity characteristics,an application of the cone penetration resistance under low gravity was further given.The obtained results are compared to the values known for lunar regolith samples and other simulants,which demonstrates promising characteristics for use in geotechnical engineering-based and scientificbased applications,especially considering the influence of lunar gravity.Ruilin Li Guoqing Zhou Kang Yan Jun Chen Daqing Chen Shangyue Cai Pin-Qiang Mo 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,1:4
10Solvent effects on Pt-Ru/C catalyst for methanol electro-oxidation显示文摘Alloying degree,particle size and the level of dispersion are the key structural parameters of Pt-Ru/C catalyst in fuel cells.Solvent(s) used in the preparation process can affect the particle size and alloying degree of the object substance,which lead to a great positive impact on its properties.In this work,three types of solvents and their mixtures were used in preparation of the Pt-Ru/C catalysts by chemical reduction of metal precursors with sodium borohydride at room temperature.The structure of the catalysts was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The catalytic activity and stability for methanol electro-oxidation were studied by Cyclic Voltammetry(CV) and Chronoamperometry(CA).Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared in H2O or binary solvents of H2O and isopropanol had large particle size and low alloying degree leading to low catalytic activity and less stability in methanol electro-oxidation.When tetrahydrofuran was added to the above solvent systems,Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared had smaller particle size and higher alloying degree which resulted in better catalytic activity,lower onset and peak potentials,compared with the above catalysts.Moreover,the catalyst prepared in ternary solvents of isopropanol,water and tetrahydrofuran had the smallest particle size,and the high alloying degree and the dispersion kept unchanged.Therefore,this kind of catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity and good stability for methanol electro-oxidation.Jinwei Chen Chunping Jiang Hui Lu Lan Feng Xin Yang Liangqiong Li Ruilin Wang 2009Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2009,18,3:2
11Analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind显示文摘Based on the analysis theory of random energy of train derailment, an analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind is suggested. Two methods are proposed -the time domain method and the frequency domain method of analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind. The curves of σ pw -v under various wind speeds are obtained through the computation. The original curve of σ p -v is expanded, which turns the analysis theory of random energy of train derailment into the all-weather theory. Train derailment condition has been established under wind action. The first and second criterions of train derailment have been proposed in light of wind action. The analysis of train derailment cases at home or abroad is made, in- cluding the first analysis of Xinjiang train derailment case encountered 13-level of gale, which explained the inevitability of train derailment. The analysis theory of random energy of train derailment in wind shows its validity and accuracy. The input energy σ pw of the transverse vibration of train-track(bridge)-wind system is linked to train speed. 19In-situ hydrothermal synthesized γ-Al_2O_3/O-g-C_3N_4 heterojunctions with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity in water splitting for hydrogen显示文摘In this work,γ-Al_2O_3 and hydrogen peroxide treated g-C_3N_4(O-g-C_3N_4) were combined through a novel in-situ hydrothermal method to form heterojunction structured photocatalysts.These photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL).FT-IR results indicate that oxygen functional groups can be grafted on the surface of O-g-C_3N_4 by hydrogen peroxide treatment.The visible light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate was investigated in 10 vol% TEOA aqueous solution.The optimal Al_2O_3 mass content is set to be 20 wt% and the corresponding hydrogen evolution rate is 1288 μmol/h/g which is approximately 6,3 folds that of pristine g-C_3N_4 and O-g-C_3N_4 respectively and 1.6 folds that of mechanical mixed composite with the same Al_2O_3 mass content.The photocurrent density–time curves were carried out under visible light illumination for four on–off cycles.The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) measurements verified the enhanced separation efficiency of electron–hole pairs.This work raised a new method to form the heterojunction structured photocatalysts and achieved a remarkable improvement of the photocatalytic activity in water splitting for hydrogen under visible light irradiation.Yu Wang Yaping Zeng Boqiao Li Anqi Li Ping Yang Liu Yang Gang Wang Jinwei Chen Ruilin Wang 2016Journal of Energy Chemistry2016,25,4:1
20Longitudinal virological changes and underlying pathogenesis in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Guangzhou,China显示文摘Prolonged viral RNA shedding and recurrence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients have been reported.However,the clinical outcome and pathogenesis remain unclear.In this study,we recruited 43 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients.We found that prolonged viral RNA shedding or recurrence mainly occurred in severe/critical patients(P<0.05).The average viral shedding time in severe/critical patients was more than 50 days,and up to 100 days in some patients,after symptom onset.However,chest computed tomography gradually improved and complete absorption occurred when SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR was still positive,but specific antibodies appeared.Furthermore,the viral shedding time significantly decreased when the A1,430G or C12,473T mutation occurred(P<0.01 and FDR<0.01)and increased when G227A occurred(P<0.05 and FDR<0.05).High IL1R1,IL1R2,and TNFRSF21 expression in the host positively correlated with viral shedding time(P<0.05 and false discovery rate<0.05).Prolonged viral RNA shedding often occurs but may not increase disease damage.Prolonged viral RNA shedding is associated with viral mutations and host factors.Zhengtu Li Yinhu Li Ruilin Sun Shaoqiang Li Lingdan Chen Yangqing Zhan Mingzhou Xie Jiasheng Yang Yanqun Wang Airu Zhu Guoping Gu Le Yu Shuaicheng Li Tingting Liu Zhaoming Chen Wenhua Jian Qian Jiang Xiaofen Su Weili Gu Liyan Chen Jing Cheng Jincun Zhao Wenju Lu Jinping Zheng Shiyue Li Nanshan Zhong Feng Ye 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,12:1
