1Inoculation with Pseudomonas spp. Containing ACC-Deaminase Partially Eliminates the Effects of Drought Stress on Growth,Yield,and Ripening of Pea (Pisum sativum L.)显示文摘Two preselected plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR) containing 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate(ACC) -deaminase(EC 4.1.99.4) were used to investigate their potential to ameliorate the effects of drought stress on growth,yield,and ripening of pea(Pisum sativum L.) . Inoculated and uninoculated(control) seeds of pea cultivar 2000 were sown in pots(four seeds pot-1) and placed in a wire house. The plants were exposed to drought stress at different stages of growth(vegetative,flowering,and pod formation) by skipping the respective irrigation. Results revealed that inoculation of peas with PGPR containing ACC-deaminase significantly decreased the 'drought stress imposed effects' on the growth and yield of peas. Exposure of plants to drought stress at vegetative growth stage significantly decreased shoot growth by 41% in the case of uninoculated plants,whereas,by only 18% in the case of inoculated plants compared to nonstressed uninoculated control. Grain yield was decreased when plants were exposed to drought stress at the flowering and pod formation stage,but inoculation resulted in better grain yield(up to 62% and 40% higher,respectively) than the respective uninoculated nonstressed control. Ripening of pods was also delayed in plants inoculated with PGPR,which may imply decreased endogenous ethylene production in inoculated plants. This premise is further supported by the observation that inoculation with PGPR reduced the intensity of classical 'triple' response in etiolated pea seedlings,caused by externally applied ACC. It is very probable that the drought stress induced inhibitory effects of ethylene could be partially or completely eliminated by inoculation with PGPR containing ACC-deaminase.M. ARSHAD B. 2Towards safe injection practices for prevention of hepatitis C transmission in South Asia: Challenges and progress显示文摘AIM: To summarize the available information about injection use and its determinants in the South Asian region. METHODS: We searched published and unpublished literature on injection safety in South Asia published during 1995-2016 using the keywords 'injection' 'unsafe injection' and 'immunization injection' and combined these with each of the countries and/or their respective states or provinces in South Asia. We used a standardized questionnaire to abstract the following data from the articles: the annual number of injections per capita, the proportion of injections administered with a reused syringe or needle, the distribution of injections with respect to prescribers and providers and determinants of injection use. RESULTS: Although information is very limited for certain countries(i.e., Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka), healthcare injection use is very common across South Asia, with cross-country rates ranging from 2.4 to 13.6 injections/person/year. Furthermore, recent studies show that 5% to 50% of these injections are provided with reused syringes, thus creating potential to transmission of blood-borne pathogens. Qualified and unqualified practitioners, especially in the private sector, are the major drivers behind injection use, but patients also prefer injections, especially among the rural, poor or uneducated in certain countries. According to available data, Pakistan and India have recently taken steps towards achieving safe injection. Potential interventions include the introduction of reuse prevention devices, and patient-, community- and patient/community and provider-centered interventionsto change population and practitioner behavior. CONCLUSION: Injection use is common in South Asian countries. 3Structural and optical properties of Cr doped ZnO crystalline thin films deposited by reactive electron beam evaporation technique显示文摘ZnO and Cr-doped ZnO thin films are grown on to glass substrates using reactive electron beam(e-beam) evaporation technique.Variation of structural,morphological,and optical properties with Cr doping is investigated.X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies show that the films are polycrystalline in nature with single phase.Energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) results demonstrate that Cr ions are substitutionally incorporated into ZnO.Atomic force microscopy(AFM) reveals that the films present a compact surface and root mean squared(RMS) roughness increased with Cr contents.The optical band gap energy Eg of the films has been determined using Transmission data by spectrophotometer and ellipsometry.The band gap energy found to be decreased with increasing Cr doping concentration.The optical constants(refractive index,extinction coefficient) are calculated using ellipsometry and found to increase with Cr doping concentration.Amjid Iqbal Arshad Mahmood Taj Muhammad Khan Ejaz Ahmed 2013Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2013,23,1:2

5Tailoring the optical and magnetic properties of La-BaM hexaferrites by Ni substitution显示文摘We investigate the impact of Ni insertion on the structural,optical,and magnetic properties of Ba_(0.8)La_(0.2)Fe_(12-x)Ni_(x)O_(19)hexaferrites(Ni substituted La-BaM hexaferrites).Samples were prepared using the conventional co-precipitation method and sintered at 1000℃for 4 hours to assist the crystallization process.An analysis of the structure of the samples was carried out using an x-ray diffraction(XRD)spectrometer.The M-type hexagonal structure of all the samples was confirmed using XRD spectra.The lattice parameters a and c were found to be in the ranges of 5.8925±0.001 nm–5.8952±0.001 nm and 23.2123±0.001 nm–23.2219±0.001 nm,respectively.The M-type hexagonal nature of the prepared samples was also indicated by the presence of corresponding FT-IR bands and Raman modes in the FT-IR and Raman spectra,respectively.EDX results confirmed the successful synthesis of the samples according to the required stoichiometric ratio.A UV-vis spectrometer was used to record the absorption spectra of the prepared samples in the wavelength range of 200 nm–1100 nm.The optical energy bandgap of the samples was found to be in the range of 1.21 eV–3.39 eV.The M–H loops of the samples were measured at room temperature at an applied magnetic field range of 0 kOe–60 kOe.A high saturation magnetization of 99.92 emu/g was recorded in the sample with x=0 at a microwave operating frequency of 22.2 GHz.This high value of saturation magnetization is due to the substitution of La3+ions at the spin-up(12k,2a,and 2b)sites.The Ni substitution is proven to be a potential candidate for the tuning of the optical and magnetic parameters of M-type hexaferrites.Therefore,we suggest that the prepared samples are suitable for use in magneto-optic applications.Hafiz T.Ali MRamzan M Imran Arshad Nicola A.Morley M.Hassan Abbas Mohammad Yusuf Atta Ur Rehman Khalid Mahmood Adnan Ali Nasir Amin MAjaz-un-Nabi 2022Chinese Physics B2022,31,2:1
6Facile Synthesis as well as Structural, Raman, Dielectric and Antibacterial Characteristics of Cu Doped ZnO Nanoparticles显示文摘Here, undoped and Cu doped ZnO nanoparticles(NPs) have been prepared by chemical co-precipitation technique. X-ray diffraction(XRD) results reveal that Cu ions are successfully doped into ZnO matrix without altering its wurtzite phase. The single wurtzite phase of ZnO is retained even for 10 wt% Cu doped ZnO sample. It is observed from the electron microscopy results that higher level of Cu doping varies the morphology of ZnO NPs from spherical to flat NPs. Moreover, the particle size is found to increase with the increase in Cu doping level. Raman spectroscopy results further confirm that Cu dopant has not altered the wurtzite structure of ZnO. Impedance spectroscopy results reveal that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss have increasing trend with Cu doping. 9Synthesis,Crystal Structure and Spectroscopic Properties of 1,2-Benzothiazine Derivatives:An Experimental and DFT Study显示文摘1,2-Benzothiazine derivatives methyl 3-methoxy-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[e] [1,2]thiazine-3-carboxylate 1,1-dioxide(1) and methyl 2-ethyl-3-hydroxy-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2Hbenzo[e][1,2]thiazine-3-carboxylate 1,1-dioxide(2) were synthesized, and characterized by spectroscopic techniques; 1H-NMR and infrared(IR) spectroscopy. Crystals of 1 and 2 were grown by slow evaporation of methanol and ethyl acetate, respectively and their crystal structures were investigated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Geometric properties were calculated by the B3 LYP method of density functional theory(DFT) at the 6-31G+(d) basis set to compare with the experimental data. Simulated properties were found in strong agreement with the experimental ones. Intermolecular forces have also been modeled in order to investigate the strength of packing and strong hydrogen bonding was observed in both compounds 1 and 2. 13Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of carbon-doped TiO2 nanoparticles显示文摘We report the hydrothermal growth of pure and doped TiO2 nanoparticles with different concentrations of carbon.The microstructure of the as-synthesized samples is characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the structure and composition.The XRD patterns confirm the formation of anatase phase of TiO2 with the average crystallite size is calculated to be in the range of 13 nm to 14.7 nm.The functional groups of these nanostructures are characterized by Fourier transformed infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,which further confirms the single anatase phase of the synthesized nanostructures.UV-visible absorption spectroscopy is used to understand the absorption behavior,which shows modification in the optical bandgap from 3.13 eV(pure TiO2)to 3.74 eV(1.2 mol%C-doped TiO2).Furthermore,the Ti^3+centers associated with oxygen vacancies are identified using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR).Zafar Ali Javaid Ismail Rafaqat Hussain AShah Arshad Mahmood Arbab Mohammad Toufiq Shams ur Rahman 2020Chinese Physics B2020,29,11:0
14Efect of Thermal Annealing on the Physical Properties of Zn_(1-x)Cu_xSe Thin Films Deposited by Close Spaced Sublimation Technique显示文摘Thin films of Zn1 x Cux Se(x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20)were grown on glass substrates by closed space sublimation technique.The deposited films were annealed at 200 C and 400 C in air for 1 h.The annealed samples have been investigated through Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy(RBS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),spectroscopic ellipsometer,spectrophotometer and Raman spectroscopy.Through RBS,the composition of the films was calculated and compared with the initial concentration.Structural characterization including crystal structure,crystal orientation,lattice parameter,grain size,strain and dislocation density were carried out using XRD data.From XRD spectra it was revealed that the as-deposited and annealed films were polycrystalline in nature with zinc-blende structure.However,the crystallinity and the grain size were improved with the increase of annealing temperature.According to Raman spectroscopy,it was observed that as deposited and annealed samples have the same characteristic vibrational modes of ZnSe at low and high frequency optical phonon modes while another mode was observed for 400 C annealed samples at 745 cm 1.Spectroscopic ellipsometer has been used to found annealing efect on the optical properties of ZnSe.The band gap energy has been determined using transmission spectra.It was found that the band gap energy of the film increased with the increase of annealing temperature.Muhammad Arslan Riaz Muhammad Arshad Mahmood Rashad Rasheed 2013Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2013,26,6:0
15Structural and optical properties of Zn_(1-x)Ni_xTe thin films prepared by electron beam evaporation technique显示文摘Zn1-xNixTe thin films with different composition(x=0.0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20) were deposited on glass substrate by electron beam evaporation technique followed by its characterization using advanced structural and optical analysis techniques. Structural properties of the prepared thin films were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD). The XRD patterns revealed that the binary compounds transformed into a ternary compound with cubic structure having preferred orientation along the c-direction with(111) planes. Composition analysis of the films was determined by energy dispersive analysis of X-rays(EDAX) and found to be in agreement with the precursor composition. Optical properties such as extinction coefficient(k) and band gap energy of these films were examined by using a spectroscopic ellipsometer. It was found that the extinction coefficient(k) increased with the addition of Ni content in the alloy. In comparison, the band gap energy was also determined by using transmission spectra and found to be agreed with that of the ellipsometric results. 16Photoluminescence and structural analysis of wurtzite(ZnO)1-x(V2O5)x composite显示文摘This paper demonstrates the structural, vibrational and photoluminescence characteristics of(ZnO)_(1-x)(V_2O_5)_x(x = 0, 3, 6 and 9 mol%) composites semiconductor synthesized by using the solid state reaction method. X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies show that(ZnO)_(1-x)(V_2O_5)_x composites have the poly crystalline wurtzite structure of hexagonal Zn O. It is found from the XRD results that the lattice constants and the crystallite size increase while the dislocation density decreases with increase in doping concentration. The existence of E1(TO) and E2(high) Raman modes show that the Zn O still preserve wurtzite structure after doping vanadium oxide, which is in agreement with XRD results. Room temperature photoluminescence(PL) exhibit near band edge and broad deep level emission while indicating the suppression of deep level emission with the incorporation of V_2O_5 up to a certain concentration(x < 9). Despite many methods suggested in the literature, there is no single measure that is universally applicable to a wide variety of situations. This paper suggested a new method for comparing fuzzy numbers based on the combination of maximizing possibility and minimizing possibility using an index of optimism in [0,1] reflecting the decision makers’ risk taking attitude. 19Structural and spectroscopic analysis of wurtzite(ZnO)_(1-x)(Sb_2O_3)_x composite semiconductor显示文摘The structural, vibrational and impedance analysis for(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite synthesized by solid state reaction technique were carried out in the present investigation. X-ray diffraction(XRD) study showed that(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite has hexagonal(wurtzite) crystal structure. Variation in lattice constants with Sb-doping indicated the proper incorporation of Sb dopant in Zn O host matrix. The results of Raman spectroscopy test suggested the signature of E2(high) and E1(TO) Raman modes, and verified the wurtzite structure of(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)x composite. Two additional phonon bands(671, 712) cm 1appeared in Raman spectra of composite samples due to the existence of the lattice defects caused by Sb doping or may be other intrinsic lattice defects formed during the synthesis of(Zn O)1 x(Sb2O3)xcomposite. The frequency dependent on the electrical characteristics, such as, impedance(Z), dielectric constant(ε) and AC conductivity(σ) have been studied in a range of frequencies for different Sb concentration at room temperature. The electrical measurement results showed that the impedance increased with Sb dopant concentration, while dielectric constant and AC conductivity decreased with Sb dopant concentration.Hafeez ullah Amjid Iqbal M.
